  • The demand for automatic manufacturing systems is incerasing. Computer Integrated Manufacturing(CIM) technology is believed to be a solution for the problem to enhance productivities and flexibilities. Although researches on CIM have been conducted treendously, application of the technology is not widely accepted yet. The CIM research on the shop floor starts with the Flexible Manufacturing System(FMS). One of the crucial obstacles to the FMS is the lack of excellent strategies for efficient operations. The aim of this research is constructing an automation scheme in the low level of factories where various machinaries are involved. An operating strategy is established for an automation unit named as a cell which resides between the upper level computers and manufacturing shop floor. The cell is defined to fit into the total manufacturing system. The defined cell has more functions than conventional cells. A scheduling scheme is adopted for the shop floor operations. A set of software has been developed and tested through simulations and shop floor experiments.

  • As envirc~nmental changes occur radically (unpredictable development of the information communication and automatic technology) the necessity of the CIM is increasing rapidly in the manufacturing field. In this paper, we propose an evaluation method using the Fuzzy set and conventional technology (which is composed of both a proposal from t.he RFP and knowlodge expertise) to constract the successful CIM.

  • This paper presents an architecture and control logic of a Flexible Manufacturing Cell (FMC) which is one of the important elements under Computer Integrated Manufacturing (CIM) environment. To implement FMC, it is very important to develop a software which can control and monitor the overall system in an integrated environment. Our primary concern in this research is not to develop individual systems, but to integrate them in the hierarchical control level. Progress on the research of integrating CAD/CAM, Process Planning, Off-line Robot Programming and Simulation module into FMC control system is reported. FMC hardware system used here has an Automated Storage & Retrieval System (AS/RS), a conveyor system, a transfer robot, a CNC milling machine, a bar-code system, and an IBM PC/AT as Cell Control System (CCS). In order to demonstrate the operational result, the name plates, text-carved aluminium plates, are manufactured by this system.

  • Networking for manufacturing is gaining importance as a nerve system of computer-integrated manufacturing(CIM). Among the various network types, the most inexpensive type called fieldbus is specifically aimed to interconnect simple devices such as sensors and actuators. For this purpose, there are several choices of the protocol such as Profibus, FIP, Foundation Fieldbus, and IEC/ISA fieldbus. This paper presents the simulation results of Profibus and FIP. Both protocols has been simulated in order to evaluate the performance such as transmission delay and throughput under different protocol parameter setting and traffic conditions.

  • 본 연구는 컴퓨터 지원 제조시스템 (CIM)의 특징 및 의사결정시 고려되어야 할 사항들이 서술되었다. CIM의 복잡성을 표현하기 위해서 목적지향시스템 및 인공지능의 개념·구조가 상세히 설명되었다. CIM하에서 독립적 시스템을 통합하는데 발생되는 통신정보를 표현하기 위해서 목적지향시스템 및 인공지능 기법이 이용되었다.

Factory simulation based on shipbuilding CIM

  • This paper considers factory simulation based on shipbuilding CIM in which a computer integrated design and manufacturing system is considered. The author proposes the product model and several alterative functions for designing ship's structure, and develop a ship definition system for computer integrated design and manufacturing. This implemented system is called SODAS (System Of Design and Assembly for Shipbuilding). Object oriented concept is used to develop this system. As well as the product model, the design function cutting function, and virtual assembling function are introduced. By using the design function, any type of ship's structure can be designed. And also factory simulation can be carried out by using the cutting function and virtual assembling function.

  • This paper presents a statistical process control(SPC) system in the electronic parts manufacturing process. In this system, an SPC method is integrated into the automated inspection technology on a real time base. It shows how the collected data can be analyzed with the SPC to provide process information. also presented are stuided of subpixel image processing technology to improve the accuracy of parts mearements , and the cumulative-sum(CUSUM) control chart for fraction defectives.An application of the developed system to connector manufacturing process as a part of computer integrated manufacturing (CIM) is presented.

조선 CIM의 두가지 특성

  • 컴퓨터 통합생산(CIM : Computer Integrated Manufacturing)이라고 부르는 새로운 생산방식은 재조산업의 경쟁력을 확보하는 수단의 하나로 여겨지고 있어 많은 연구가 진행중에 있다[6]. 우리나라의 기술수준을 선진국의 수준으로 오리겠다는 목표로 추진중인 G7 프로젝트에도 '첨단 생산시스템'이라는 과제가 있어 많은 예산과 인력이 투입되고 있다 [14]. 조선산업에서도 생산 성을 향상시키는 방안으로CIM을 구축하고자 하는 노력이 진행중이며 [15], 일본에서 조선, CIMS 과제가 추진되고 있고 [2,3,5,8], 우리나라에도 CSDP 과제가 수년간 계속되고 있다. [11]. 하지만 CIM이라는 시스템이 아직까지는 목표로서 존재하며, 이제 조금씩 그 실체가 형성되고 있고 아직도 계속 연구개발의 대상이다. 이 글에서는 조선CIM의 성격을 규정해 보기 위하여 유사한 시스템들과 조선 CIM을 비교하였다 [4,7,9,12 ]. 이러한 분석 작업은 앞으로 조선 CIM 시스템 개발에 도움이 될 것이다.

  • Automated Guided Vehicles(AGVs) are widely used in computer integrated manufacturing(CIM) systems for material handling purposes. Although automated guided vehicles provide higher levels of flexibility and computer integrability, the installations are limited in number and one of the critical reasons lies in the complexity involved in the operation. The main objective of this research is to alleviate this problem by proposing efficient integrated operational control methods for AGV-based CIM systems. Particularly, this research is concerned with the mixed problem of dispatching automated guided vehicles and scheduling machines operation. The proposed dynamic heuristic algorithm uses various priority schemes and relevant information concerning the load of the system, the status of queues, and the position of AGVs in the scheduling process. The scheduling decision process is hierarchical in the sense that different decision criteria are applied sequentially to identify the most appropriate part to be served. This algorithm consists of two sections, the section of part selection by AGVs for the next service whenever an AGV completes the current assignment, and the section of part selection by machines for next service whenever a machine completes the current operation. The proposed algorithm has been compared with other scheduling schemes using the performance measure of mean flow-time and mean tardiness. Simulation results indicate that the proposed algorithm can reduce the mean flow-time and mean tardiness significantly.
