The CMS(color management system) software was to enable consistent color reproduction from original to reproduction. The CMS was to create RGB monitor and printer characterization profiles and then use the profiles for device independent color transformation. The implemented CMM(color management module) used the CIELAB color space for the profile connection. Various monitor characterization model was evaluated for proper color transformation. To construct output device profile, SLI(sequential linear interpolation) method was used for the color conversion from CMYK device color to device independent CIELAB color space and tetrahedral interpolation method was used for backward transformation. UCR(under color removal) based black generation algorithm was used to construct CIELAB to CMYK LUT(lookup table). When transforming the CIE Lab colour space to CMYK, it was possible to involve the gray revision method regularized in the brightness into colour transformation process and optimize the colour transformation by black generation method based on UCR technique. For soft copy colour proofing, evaluating several monitor specialism methods showed that LUT algorithm was useful. And it was possible to simplify colour gamut mapping by constructing both the look-up table and the colour gamut mapping algorithm to a reference table.

This paper proposes a computationally efficient algorithm for color image segmentation using self-organizing map(SOM) and grassfire algorithm. We reduce a computation time by decreasing the number of input neuron and input data which is used for learning at SOM. First converting input image to CIE $L^*u^*v^*$ color space and run the learning stage with the SOM-input neuron size is three and output neuron structure is 4by4 or 5by5. After learning, compute output value correspondent with input pixel and merge adjacent pixels which have same output value into segment using grassfire algorithm. The experimental results with various images show that proposed method lead to a good segmentation results than others.
The objective of this study was to investigate the relationship between measurements of color and water-holding capacity (WHC) in pork loin. A total of 419 pork loins were sampled from crossbred (Landrace$\times$Jeju native black pig) F2 pigs at a commercial slaughter house. Meat color measurements (CIE $L^*$, $a^*$, $b^*$), chroma ($C^*$) and hue angle (h) were measured with the Minolta Chromameter and WHC was measured by filter paper fluid, drip loss and cooking loss. Also pH, moisture content and crude fat content were measured at 24 hr postmortem. CIE $L^*$, $b^*$ and h values had positive correlation with drip loss (r=0.52, 0.42), but CIE $a^*$ and $C^*$ values were not related to drip loss. Results showed that CIE $L^*$, $b^*$, and h color system was better than CIE $L^*$, $a^*$, $b^*$ color system to predict WHC, especially drip loss. pH was negatively correlated to drip loss (-0.42) and CIE $L^*$ (-0.67). Although CIE $L^*$ and pH were correlated to drip loss, the accuracy of their estimates for drip loss was 27% and 17%, respectively. Consequently, it was confirmed that meat color and WHC were not perfectly related and suggested that CIE $L^*$, $b^*$, and h color space should not be used independently to predict WHC of pork loin.
The purpose of this study is to analyze the image of color combination in fashion design. For this study 14,121 color samples were collected from 116 fashion brands selected by the market segmentation based on the results of the previous studies. The brands have high market share and brand recognition in each segmental market. The color samples were measured by spectrophotometer and analyzed by the Munsell's H V/C and CIE $L^*a^*b^*$ value. The representative colors of each market were selected concerning the tensity in CIE $L^*a^*b^*$ color space and the distance between the color samples. h4 a result, 2,213 representative colors were chosen. These color samples composed top and bottom color combination samples by the program 'Item Comparator' that calculated the color differences$({\Delta}E^*)$. Top includes the items such as blouse, shirt, and coats, bottom includes the items such as skirt and pants. The color combination samples were divided into two groups. In one group ${\Delta}E^*$ was less than 30, and In the other group ${\Delta}E^*$ was 30 or more. For investigating the image of color combination, 480 rotor combination samples were classified. The image adjectives for the survey from preceding studies and brand dictionaries were 'classic', 'modern', 'feminine', 'casual', and 'romantic', which have highly preferred in women's wear brands. The result of the study is as follows; For 'classic' 'image, YR, and greyish tone were generally preferred. In the color combination of 'casual' image, the samples with PB color and greyish tone were preferred. For 'feminine' image, RP was preferred as a top color, R, RP, P were preferred as a bottom color. For 'casual' image, PB was preferred as a top color, PB, B were preferred as a bottom color. For 'romantic' image, RP was preferred as a top color, R, P were preferred as a bottom color. The bigger the color differences between the color combination samples were, the more remarkable the image of color combination samples was.

In this paper, we propose the symbol decision method considering the non-uniformity in color space and analyze the BER performance of modulation scheme based on color space, comparing with the conventional WDM scheme based on light intensity. Through numerical simulation, we show the BER performance superiority under the condition of AWGN and common mode noise.

Machine recognition of faces from still and video images is emerging as an active research area spanning several disciplines such as image processing, pattern recognition, computer vision and neural networks. In addition, human face identification has numerous applications such as human interface based systems and real-time video systems of surveillance and security. In this paper, we propose an algorithm that can identify a particular individual face. We consider human face identification system in color space, which hasn't often considered in conventional in conventional methods. In order to make the algorithm insensitive to luminance, we convert the conventional RGB coordinates into normalized CIE coordinates. The normalized-CIE-based facial images are KL-transformed. The transformed data are used as the input of multi-layered neural network and the network are trained using error-backpropagation methods. Finally, we verify the system performance of the proposed algorithm by experiments.
A computational color palette extraction model is introduced to describe paint brush objectively and efficiently. In this model, a color palette is defined as a minimum set of colors in which a painting can be displayed within error allowance and extracted by the two step processing of color grouping and major color extraction. The color grouping controls the resolution of colors adaptively and produces a basic color set of given painting images. The final palette is obtained from the basic color set by applying weighted k-means clustering algorithm. The extracted palettes from several famous painters are displayed in a 3-D color space to show the distinctive palette styles using RGB and CIE LAB color models individually. And the two experiments of painter classification and color transform of photographic image has been done to check the performance of the proposed method. The results shows the possibility that the proposed palette model can be a computational color analysis metric to describe the paint brush, and can be a color transform tool for computer graphics.
In this paper we propose symbol decision method reflecting the color non-uniformity in 3-dimensional color space. By comparing with 2-dimensional color space decision method, we show the superiority of BER performance of the proposed method. Proposed method may reflect the non-uniformity since the symbol decision boundary in color space is transformed from 3D RGB space, and one dimension corresponding to Y value is added. Therefore, we can obtain the better BER performance by using the symbol decision method in 3D color space. In this paper, through numerical simulation, show the superior BER performance of 3D color space symbol decision method compared with 2D color space symbol decision method under AWGN and common mode noise channel.
We propose a color transfer method that used color contrast based templates to express the visual difference clearly between objects, while remaining the quality of the input image. Our algorithm employs colors of both the input image and template distributed on the $a^{\ast}b^{\ast}$chrominance plane of CIE $L^{\ast}a^{\ast}b^{\ast}$color space. The templates are made by considering the effect of color contrast and have the shape of either a line or a curve represented color distribution of the basic colors based gradation image. These tempates can be modeled on spline curves. We also generate simply new templates with the different basic colors by moving the control points of that curve. The color transfer method using the templates is done through a regressive analysis and color matching. We maintained color coherence of the input image by transforming similarly the color distribution of an input image to the one of templates.
We report a novel optical structure for bottomemitting white OLEDs. The structure includes, reformulated color filter, dielectric mirror to enforce cavity resonance, and micro-scatterer to extract more light and diffuse the viewing angle dependency. With the new structure, the color gamut was 104% of that of NTSC, the combined transmission efficiency of the color filter was 83%/3 and the color shift at $45^{\circ}$ was maintained below 0.02 in the 1976 CIE color space. The color performance of White OLED + color filter system can match comparably that of RGB OLED + microcavity system.
