This paper presents to analyze patterns from single and complex malodors using gas sensor array based on metal oxide semiconductors. The aim of research is to identify and discriminate single malodors such as $NH_3$, $CH_3SH$ and $H_2S$ and their mixtures according to concentration levels. Measurement system for analyzing patterns from malodors is constructed by an array of metal oxide semiconductor sensors which are available commercially together with associate electronics. The patterns from sensory system are analyzed by Principal Component Analysis (PCA) which is simple statistical pattern recognition technique. Throughout the experimental trails, we confirmed the experimental procedure for measurement system such as sensors calibration time and gas flow rate, and discriminated malodors using pattern analysis technique.
We report a Fabry-Perot interferometer (FPI)-based multi-channel micro-spectrometer used for multi-gas measurement in the spectral range of $3-5{\mu}m$ and its gas sensing performance. The fabricated infrared (IR) spectrometer consists of two parts: an FPI on the top side for selective IR filtering and a $V_2O_5$-based IR detector array on the bottom side for the detection of the filtered IR. Experimental results show that the FPI-based multi-channel gas sensor has reliability and selectivity for simultaneously detecting environmentally harmful gases such as $CH_4$, $CO_2$, $N_2O$ and CO in the spectral range of $3-5{\mu}m$. The fabricated FPI-based multi-channel gas sensor also demonstrated that a reliable and selective detection of gas concentrations ranging from 0 to 500 ppm is feasible. In addition, the electrical characteristics demonstrate a superior response performance in regards to the selectivity in the multi-target gases.

SnO thin films, 100 nm in thickness, were deposited on glass substrates by RF magnetron sputtering. A stack structure of $SnO_2/SnO$, where few nanometers of $SnO_2$ were determined on the SnO thin film by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. In addition, XPS depth profile analysis of the pristine and heat treated thin films were introduced. The electrical behavior of the as-sputtered films during the annealing was recorded to investigate the working conditions for the SnO sensor. Subsequently, The NH3 sensing properties of the SnO sensor at operating temperature of $50-200^{\circ}C$ were examined, in which the p-type semiconducting sensing properties of the thin film were noted. The sensor shows good sensitivity and repeatability to $NH_3$ vapor. The sensor properties toward several gases like $H_2S$, $CH_4$ and $C_3H_8$ were also introduced. Finally, a sensing mechanism was proposed and discussed.
A microstrip gas chamber (MSGC), applied to digital radiography system, was designed and constructed. The microstrip electrodes were fabricated with Chrome(Cr.). by photolithography process on Silicon(Si) wafer and glass substrate. The width of anode and cathode electrodes was $10{\mu}m$, and $290{\mu}m$, respectively. The distance of the electrodes was $100{\mu}m$, and the active area was $50{\times}50mm^2$. And the number of anode was 80. The microstrip electrodes were damaged when discharges occurred over the 600 V of anode voltage. As the result of experiments. It detected the typical output signals of the pulse width, 20 ns, under the condition that the detecting gas was Ar(90%) + $CH_4$(10%), X-ray tube voltage was 42 kV, and tube current was 1 mA.

Quartz crystal microbalance (QCM) gas sensor to detect methyl mercaptan ($CH_3SH$) gas was fabricated by depositing $TiO_2$ nanoparticles and polyelectrolyte on the electrode of QCM. The $TiO_2$/poly(sodium 4-styrenesulfonate) (PSS) thin film fabricated by a layer-by-layer self-assembly (LBL-SA) method showed a high surface area and increased the sensitivity of gas sensor. When the QCM sensors coated with triethanolamine (TEA) or ($TiO_2$/PSS) were exposed to methyl mercaptan gas (1.0 ppm), the frequency shifts of QCM with TEA casting film and $TiO_2$/PSS thin film were ca. 9 Hz and ca. 24 Hz, respectively. As the bilayer number of ($TiO_2$/PSS) increased, the frequency shift of QCM sensor with ($TiO_2$/PSS) thin film was gradually increased. In addition, the frequency shift of QCM sensor was gradually increased as the concentration of methyl mercaptan gas increased from 0.5 ppm to 2.0 ppm. In this study, the surface morphology and sensor property of QCM sensor coated with ($TiO_2$/PSS) thin film were measured.
$V_{2}O_{5}/ThO_{2}/Pd$-doped $SnO_{2}$ sensor has a good selectivity and stability to CO at high sensor temperature of about $500^{\circ}C$, and shows rapid response. In particular, many kinds of interference gases, such as $NO_{x}$, $C_{3}H_{8}$, $CH_{4}$ and $SO_{2}$ have been found to give only a slight influence on the sensor selectivity to CO gas sensitivity by doped $V_{2}O_{5}$ (3.0 wt.%). For the sensor we used well-known thick film technological route with $V_{2}O_{5}$(3.0 wt.%), Pd(1.0 wt.%) and $ThO_{2}$(l.5 wt.%) as catalytic materials. In the case of mixed $NO_{x}$-CO gases, as combustion exhaust gas, only CO detection by $SnO_{2}$ type semiconductor sensor is generally very difficult because of $NO_{x}$ interference. The developed sensors can use to measure the exhausting gas of the automobile or the boiler for the Air-to-Fuel ratio control.
A gas sensor which has been made by wet process had fabricated by coating each of the mixture on alumina tube and firing at 85$0^{\circ}C$ for 3hrs. A gas concentration such $H_2$, CO, $C_3H_8$, $C_2H_2$ and $CH_4$ vs its detection voltage characteristics has been in-vestigated on $SnO_2-In_2O_3-MgO$ system doped with PdO, $La_2O_3$, $ThO_2$, NiO and $Nb_2O_5$ The optimum sensitivity composition for various gases were 90w/o $SnO_2$-9w/o $In_2O_3$-1w/o MgO for $H_2$, $C_2H_2$ CO and $C_3H_8$ and 95w/o $SnO_2$-4w/o $In_2O_3$-1w/o MgO for $CH_4$. The sample which has been made by wet process than dry process had predominated sensitivity for each gases and particle size of the sample coprecipitated with PH=9 was 0.1${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ The $SnO_2$-In2_O_3-MgO$ system doped with 2w/o $Nb_2O_5$ and NiO was the most sensitive for $H_2$ and $C_2H_2$ gas. In $SnO_2$-In2_O_3-MgO$ system doped with $ThO_2$ the sensitivity of $H_2$ gas was decreased but CO gas was in-creased when dopant con was increased.
A coprecipitation method was used for preparing Ca and Pt doped $SnO_{2}$-based material. Crystallite size and specific surface area were investigated by TEM, XRD and BET analysis. $SnO_{2}(Ca)/Pt$ based thick film devices were prepared by a screen printing technique for hydrocarbon gas detecting. Then the electrical and sensing characteristics of devices were investigated. As Ca and Pt addition, the crystal growth of $SnO_{2}$ was suppressed during calcining and sintering, and the sensitivity of $SnO_{2}(Ca)/Pt$ thick film to gas was enhanced. Also any difference in the sensing properties has to be attributed to the Pt and Au electrode. For the 2000 ppm $CH_{4}$, the sensitivity of $SnO_{2}(Ca)/Pt$ thick film devices were about 83% at an operating temperature of $400^{\circ}C$.
We fabricated a capacitive-type humidity sensor using poly (p-phenylene ether sulfone: PES) as a humidity sensitive layer. The PES was dissolved in m-cresol $(CH_3C_6H_4OH)$ and spin-coated on ITO-coated glass substrate. Gold was deposited by sputtering as a water-permeable upper electrode. The capacitance of the sensor was inversely proportional to sensing film thicknesses and showed an excellent linearity of less than 1% in the humidity range of 20 to 90%. The sensor haying a $1.4{\mu}m$ sensing layer showed a hysteresis of 1.3% and a good sensitivity of 1.14 at 20 kHz.

The nickel and cobalt resistance of Cupriavidus metallidurans CH34 is mediated by the CnrCBA efflux pump encoded by the cnrYHXCBAT metal resistance determinant. The products of the three genes cnrYXH transcriptionally regulate expression of cnr. CnrY and CnrX are membrane-bound proteins, probably functioning as anti-sigma factors, whereas CnrH is a cnr-specific extracytoplasmic functions (ECF) sigma factor. The periplasmic domain of CnrX (residues 29-148) was cloned as a N-terminal His-tagged protein, expressed in Escherichia coli, and purified using affinity chromatography and gel filtration. The molecular mass was estimated to be about 13.6kDa by size exclusion chromatography, corresponding to a monomer. The tetragonal bipyramid crystals were obtained by mixing an equal volume of protein in 50mM Tris-HCl, pH 7.5, 1% glycerol, 100mM NaCl, 1mM DTT, and the reservoir solution of 15% w/v PEG 2000, 100mM lithium chloride at 277K in 2-4 days using hanging drop vapor diffusion. The protein concentration was 24mg/ml. The crystal that diffracted to $2.42{\AA}$ resolution belongs to space group $P4_1\;or\;P4_3$ with unit cell parameters of $a=b=32.14{\AA},\;c=195.31{\AA},\;{\alpha}={\beta}={\gamma}=90^{\circ}$, with one molecule of CnrX in the asymmetric unit.
