The voided slab have many advantages, light weight, high load-distribution capacity, low cost and beautiful appearance, etc. But they have also many cracks due to difficulties in designs and construction, analysis, shrinkage, installation and rising force of voided tube. This paper presents the retrofit effects with steel plate(SP)/carbon fiber sheet(CFS) of RC voided slab. As a results of this study, it proved that the strip pattern has to be profitable than full-face pattern in performance such as crack, ultimate loads, stiffness. Retrofit length has many influence on retrofit effects, as the length increases, performance and stability of end blocks higher. Also, it proved that the retrofit on full-section has to be profitable than voided-section in performance, and the overlay length of CFS is desirable to extent approximately and welding(V-cut) has to be efficient than anchors in SP connection. But the kinds of end block and anchor has not influence on retrofit effects.
In recent years, strengthening by steel plate, carbon fiber sheets, and carbon fiber laminate is spotlighted in order to repair and rehabilitation of R/C structures. In this study, 3 methods of rehabilitation technique were analyzed from the test results. Test parameters were the width of cracks, the method of repair and rehabilitation, the magnitude of pre-load. Deflections, failure loads, strains of reinforcing bar, strains of carbon fiber sheet, carbon fiber laminate and steel plate were measured during the tests. The primary purpose of this research was to analyze the failure mode and structural behavior of strengthened RC beams with/without superimposed pre-load. Test results should that no significant difference was observed between with pre-loaded specimens and no-loaded specimens during rehabilitation.

In this study, the effect of epoxy mortar panel as the shear strengthening material of reinforced concrete beam is investigated by loading test. The main variables are the kind of strengthening material, the amount of reinforcement and the spacing of CFS(Carbon Fiber Sheet) stirrups. The design method to use epoxy mortar panel as shear strengthening of reinforced concrete beam took the shear capacity as the form of the sum of $V_c$, $V_s$, $V_{sheet}$ and $V_p$. By making a comparison between the values calculated by the proposed shear strength prediction formula and those from the loading test results, the mean value was 1.10 and the standard deviation was 8.16%.

The objective of this study is to develope a new equation that can predict the flexural capacity in RC beams strengthened with Carbon Fiber Sheets(CFS). To evaluate the influence of each experimental variable, the conducted experimental test data were investigated; the variables that had an effect on the increment of the flexural capacity were the number of plys, the strengthening length, the reinforced type such as U-type after reinforcing the bottom of the beam. The previous equations were compared using the existing experimental test data, then analyzed for the merits and demerits of existing equations, using the coefficient of correlation(R). The proposed equation was derived in such a way that main parameters and their combination were obtained from the analytical study and then their coefficients were determined by regression analysis using the previous test data. As a result, the proposed equation showed the better agreement than the previous equations.

This study examined the flexural strength of CFS reinforced concrete beams with various load histories. The RC beams to be reinforced by CFS have undergone various loading histories but neglecting the loading history results in a few problems in structural safety and cost. Structural behavior of CFS-strengthened RC beams were analyzed considering the strain status of RC beams under loads at the time of CFS strengthening. Nonlinear section analysis showed that the flexural strength of CFS-strengthened RC beams depends on the load history of the RC beams. From the result of this analysis, the flexural strength of a CFS-strengthened concrete beam is affected considerably by the load history and should be considered in CFS reinforcement.
Recently, various strengthening methods using carbon fiber sheets (CFS) have been developed for the rehabilitation of structures and applied to the concrete member. However, still research need arises in order to verify the structural capacity of RC member which experienced bond loss between concrete and CFS after strengthening. This is because previous research has focused on the development of design process and evaluation of structural capacity only for retrofit. The appearance of this loss may be initiated at just after retrofit construction. And it will be more serious when the layer number of CFS increases. In order to minimize above mistake in retrofit design using CFS, more exact evaluation process to predict the bond loss of CFS is required. The objective of this research is to study the variation of flexural structural capacity of beam which has experienced bond loss after strengthening using CFS. Experimental and analytical study are performed and evaluation of the previous formula is conducted. Test result showed that the significant strength deterioration was not found until the bond loss of 20%. Overall structural behavior of the beams can be predicted by nonlinear sectional analysis.

The deterioration of the flexural capacity by progressive crack and over deflection in R/C bridges is developed actually from the dynamic repeated loading due to vehicle traffics. Such a fact suggest a necessities of confirmation and estimation of the data acquired from monotonic incremental loading test. Therefore, this study carry out the monotonic incremental loading test and dynamic repeated loading test in R/C beams strengthened with CFS. By dynamic repeated loading test, the experiments confirmed the validities and fittness of the results acquired from monotonic incremental loading test and estimated the characteristics of the moment-curvature, degradation of the flexural rigidity, crack and failure.

In this study, a numerical simulation that can effectively predict the strengthening effect of repaired aged RC structures is developed using the axial deformation link elements. In repaired structures, concrete and interface are modeled as quasi-brittle materials. An elastic-perfectly plastic constitutive relationship is introduced for reinforcing bars. Also, a linear-elastic relationship for repair materials such as FRP or CFS. Structural deterioration in terms of corrosion of steel rebar is considered. The interfacial property between steel and concrete which is reduced by corrosion of steel rebar is obtained by comparing numerical results with experimental results of pull out tests. Obtained values are used in repaired reinforced concrete structures under flexural loading conditions. To investigate strengthening effect of the structures repaired with carbon fiber sheet(CFS), repaired and unrepaired RC structures are analyzed numerically. From analysis, rip-off, debonding and rupture failure mechanisms of interface between substrate and CFS can be determined. Finally, strengthening effect according to the variation of interfacial material properties is investigated, and it is shown that interfacial material properties have influence on the mechanical behavior of repaired structure systems Therefore, the developed numerical method using axial deformation link elements can use for determining the strengthening effects and failure mechanism of repaired aged RC structure.

In this study, a structural performance of R/C columns controlled by shear, strengthened with Sprayed FRP, was investigated. For this purpose, six 2/3-scaled column specimens were designed and tested by the pseudo-static reversed cyclic load under a constant axial load, which is 10% of the nominal axial strength of the column. Four specimens were strengthened by Sprayed FRP with different combinations of short fibers (carbon or glass) and resins (epoxy or vinyl ester). For comparison purpose, tests of a specimen strengthened with carbon fiber sheet (CFS) and a control specimen without strengthening were carried out, respectively. The result reveals that shear strengths and ductility capacities of columns strengthened with Sprayed FRP improved remarkably, compared to those of the control column, and the Sprayed FRP technique developed in this study is able to use the strengthening scheme of existing R/C columns.

Currently, CFRP (Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymer) plate bonding is used quite extensively as a strengthening method. In this technique, a composite CFRP plate or sheet of relatively small thickness is bonded with an adhesion material to steel or concrete structure in order to improve its structural behavior and strength. The sheets or plates do not require much space and give a composite action between the adherents. In this study, the rotation capacity of CFRP-strengthened cold-formed steel (CFS) beams has been evaluated through numerical investigation. Studies on different structural levels have been performed. At the beam level, C-section has been adopted with different values of profile thickness, web height, and flange width. At the connection level, a web bolted moment resistant type of connection using through plate has been adopted. In web-bolted connections without CFRP strengthening, premature web buckling results in early loss of strength. Hence, CFRP sheets and plates with different mechanical properties and geometric configurations have been examined to delay web and flange buckling and to produce relatively high moment strength and rotation capacity. The numerical results reveal that CFRP strengthening may increase strength, initial stiffness, and rotation capacity when compared with the case without strengthening.
