  • Collaborative Digital Reference Service( CDRS) has spread worldwide as a tool of obtaining high-quality information in knowledge information society KISTI formed CDRS collaboration model called Question포인트+ with 4 institutions in Korea. In Question포인트+ which is also linked to the Global Network, the domestic and oversea information specialists answer a variety of questions in response of the requests of users on the web. The implementation of Question포인트+ is significant as the first domestic CDRS collaboration model, and contribute to management, dissemination, and activation of CDRS in Korea.

  • The purposes of this article are to raise the quality issues of Collaborative Digital Reference Services(CDRS) in Korean libraries and to suggest the feasible solutions to resolve the quality problems of CDRS. To the end, a thorough examination on the development process and present condition of main Korean CDRS such as 'Question포인트' and' '사서에게 물어보세요'. This article investigates the causes of 'low quality' in Korean CDRS with emphasizing both technical problems and managerial limitations. Finally suggested are the solutions to improve the low quality of CDRS with special concerns on Korean library situation. Discussions on this article are based on literature review, statistical analysis, and usability tests on the targeted Korean CDRS, '사서에게 물어보세요'(Ask a Librarian in Korean version).

  • Information institutes in the world provide users with collaborative digital reference service for answering users' questions. Korea Institute of Science and Technology Information has conducted Question포인트+ that is CDRS using global mechanism. KISTI has developed two types of global collaboration mechanism on CDRS: one is using Global Network, the other one is direct cooperation between KISTI and a German organization ZLB. This study analyzes the current global collaboration mechanism of CDRS at KISTI and suggests the future model of global collaboration mechanism to satisfy the users' needs.

  • This paper aims to seek ways of optimizing the operations of Collaborative Digital Reference Service(CDRS) in Korea. CDRS tries to specialize the reference service through world-wide collaborative service. In this study seven international CDRS services including "QuestionPoint" operated by ALA and one national service, "Ask a Librarian" by the National Library of Korea were surveyed. A focused analysis of CDRS in Korea shows not only a sharp increase in use by the public, but also much application in research and academic activities by university students and workers.

  • Collaborative Digital Reference Service(CDRS) that answer the users' questions through web has provided in Korea since 2004. CDRS has been revitalized in the developed countries, but not in Korea. This study analyzed the current status of CDRS, extracted the problems and limitations based on the analysis, and made the suggestions for improving CDRS in Korea to intensify the user satisfaction. The study analyzed the Korea's one and only CDRS service provided by Korea Institute of Science and Technology Information from 2004 to 2007. This study indicated the current trends of usages and services by analyzing the 4-years statistics, objectified the current situation, and suggested the improving plan for the services.

  • Objective : Radiofrequency facet rhizotomy[RFFR] has been widely performed for treatment of chronic neck pain caused by cervical dorsal ramus syndrome[CDRS]. To evaluate the therapeutic effectiveness of RFFR in the patients with CDRS, we analyzed patients with various cervical pathologic conditions. Methods : The therapeutic results in forty-four patients who underwent RFFR for CDRS from January, 2000 to December, 2002 were analyzed according to the underlying pathologic conditions causing CDRS. The pathologic conditions were sprain [33 cases], herniated nucleus pulposus [6], foraminal stenosis [4], and compression fracture [1]. The therapeutic results were evaluated one month after the operation and graded as excellent, good, fair of poor. Treatments were considered successful if the therapeutic results were graded as either excellent of good. Results : The overall success rate in all patients was 72.7%. The success fate for treatment of cases with cervical sprain was 87.9%, but treatment of cases with herniated nucleus pulposus, foraminal stenosis, and fracture showed unsatisfactory results [mean success rate was 27.3%]. Some patients complained of transient hypesthesia [4 cases] of transient dull pain at the electrode insertion sites [2 cases]. Conclusion : RFFR is an effective and safe treatment for CDRS caused by cervical sprain, regardless of the patient's age, the duration of the symptoms, and the presence of radiating pain.

  • This research aims at investigating the measures of agreement between BMI classification standard and that of 9-point contour drawing rating scale(CDRS), verifying their usefulness for the application to the filed, examining university students' substantial understanding of their bodies, and offering correct information regarding the distorted recognition of their bodies. In order to examine the measures of agreement between the classification standard of BMI and that of CDRS, and the women university students' recognition of their body images depending on BMI, Cross tabulation was carried out, and ${\chi}^2$, Spearman rank correlation coefficient and kappa statistics were calculated. As the analysis results, the classification standards of CDRS and BMI judged by general female college students showed statistically the correlation was high with ${\rho}=.719$(p<.001) and an average level of confirmity with ${\kappa}=.506$(p<.001). Based on these results, regarding body shape, sizes and shapes according to racial characteristics need to be controlled later.

  • Antibody phage display provides a powerful and efficient tool for the discovery and development of monoclonal antibodies for therapeutic and other applications. Antibody clones from synthetic libraries with optimized design features have several distinct advantages that include high stability, high levels of expression, and ease of downstream optimization and engineering. In this study, a fully synthetic human scFv library with six diversified CDRs was constructed by polymerase chain reaction assembly of overlapping oligonucleotides. In order to maximize the functional diversity of the library, a ${\beta}$-lactamase selection strategy was employed in which the assembled scFv gene repertoire was fused to the 5'-end of the ${\beta}$-lactamase gene, and in-frame scFv clones were enriched by carbenicillin selection. A final library with an estimated total diversity of $7.6{\times}10^9$, greater than 70% functional diversity, and diversification of all six CDRs was obtained after insertion of fully randomized CDR-H3 sequences into this proofread repertoire. The performance of the library was validated using a number of target antigens, against which multiple unique scFv sequences with dissociation constants in the nanomolar range were isolated.
