Purpose: This study was performed to find the current problems of positron emission tomography/computed tomography(PET/CT) data on CD for inter-hospital transfer. Materials and Methods: The subjects were 746 consecutive $^{18}F$-fluorodeoxyglucose PET/CT data CDs from 56 hospitals referred to our department for image interpretation. The formats and contents of PET/CT data CDs were reviewed and the email questionnaire survey about this was performed. Results: PET/CT data CDs from 21 of 56 hospitals(37.5%) included all transaxial CT and PET images with DICOM standard format which were required for authentic interpretation. PET/CT data from the others included only secondary capture images or fusion PET/CT images. According to this survey, the main reason of limited PET/CT data on CD for inter-hospital transfer was that the data volume of PET/CT was too large to upload to the Picture Archiving and Communication System. Conclusion: The majority of hospitals provided limited PET/CT data on CD for inter-hospital transfer, which could be inadequate for accurate interpretation and clinical decision making. It is necessary to standardize the format of PET/CT data on CD for inter-hospital transfer including all transaxial CT and PET images with DICOM standard format.
In order to improve efficacy of oriental medicines and to study the application of fermented oriental medicine in clinicals, the efficacy of CYT and CYTBH on atopic dermatitis were evaluated. The results and conclusions are as follows. CYT and CYTBH significantly improved the atopic dermatitis symptoms in NC/Nga mice by naked eye evaluation and significantly decreased clinical index in both groups. CYT and CYTBH both decreased the cell numbers of CD3+, CD11b+Gr-1+ cells in dorsal skin. Of the cells, CYT significantly decreased CD11b+Gr-1+ cells whereas CYTBH significantly decreased all immune cells. CYT and CYTBH both decreased the production rate of IL-4 and IFN-${\gamma}$ activated by CD3/CD28. In the case of CYTBH, significant decrease in all cases was observed. CYT and CYTBH decreased the production rate of IL-5, IL-13 and IL-17 in serum. Significant decrease of IL-5 in the case of CYT and IL-5 and IL-13 in the case of CYTBH were observed. CYT and CYTBH significantly decreased transcription of IL-5 mRNA and IL-13 mRNA in skin. Significant decrease in IgG1 and IgE immunoglobulins in serum were oberved in both groups. Significant decrease was only observed in the case of CYTBH. Both CYT and CYTBH significantly decreased the secretion of histamine. Both CYT and CYTBH suppressed erythema, hemorrhage, edema, excoriation, erosion of skin tissues of NC/Nga mice resulting in the decrease of thickness of epidermis. Significant decrease of infiltration of obese cells was also observed. The results above indicated that both CYT and CYTBH had significant efficacy in the treatment of atopic dermatitis through immune modulation. Animal studies showed that CYTBH had superior activity than that of CYT suggesting further and continuous studies on the changes in ingredients or absorption improvement by fermentation should follow.

Purpose: This study is to investigate the effect of captopril when combined with irradiation. Materials and Methods: 4T1 (mouse mammary carcinoma) cells were injected in the right hind leg of Balb/c mice. Mice were randomized to four groups; control (group 1), captopril-treated (group 2), irradiated (group 3), irradiated and captopril-treated concurrently (group 4). Captopril was administered by intraperitoneal injection (10 mg/kg) daily and irradiation was delivered on the tumor-bearing leg for 15 Gy in 3 fractions. Surface markers of splenic neutrophils (G-MDSCs) and intratumoral neutrophils (tumor-associated neutrophils [TANs]) were assessed using flow cytometry and expression of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and hypoxia-inducible factor 1 alpha ($HIF-1{\alpha}$) of tumor was evaluated by immunohistochemical (IHC) staining. Results: The mean tumor volumes (${\pm}$standard error) at the 15th day after randomization were $1,382.0({\pm}201.2)mm^3$ (group 1), $559.9({\pm}67.8)mm^3$ (group 3), and $370.5({\pm}48.1)mm^3$ (group 4), respectively. For G-MDSCs, irradiation reversed decreased expression of CD101 from tumor-bearing mice, and additional increase of CD101 expression was induced by captopril administration. Similar tendency was observed in TANs. The expression of tumor-necrosis factor-associated molecules, CD120 and CD137, are increased by irradiation in both G-MDSCs and TANs. Further increment was observed by captopril except CD120 in TANs. For IHC staining, VEGF and $HIF-1{\alpha}$ positivity in tumor cells were decreased when treated with captopril. Conclusion: Captopril is suggested to have additional effect when combined to irradiation in a murine tumor model by modulation of MDSCs and angiogenesis.

Objective: Efficient gene editing technology is critical for successful knock-in in domestic animals. RAD51 recombinase (RAD51) gene plays an important role in strand invasion during homologous recombination (HR) in mammals, and is regulated by checkpoint kinase 1 (CHK1) and CHK2 genes, which are upstream elements of RAD51 recombinase (RAD51). In addition, mismatch repair (MMR) system is inextricably linked to HR-related pathways and regulates HR via heteroduplex rejection. Thus, the aim of this study was to investigate whether clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats/CRISPR-associated 9 (CRISPR/Cas9)-mediated knock-in efficiency of human lactoferrin (hLF) knock-in vector in the bovine β-casein gene locus can be increased by suppressing DNA MMR-related genes (MSH2, MSH3, MSH6, MLH1, and PMS2) and overexpressing DNA double-strand break (DSB) repair-related genes (RAD51, CHK1, CHK2). Methods: Bovine mammary epithelial (MAC-T) cells were transfected with a knock-in vector, RAD51, CHK1, or CHK2 overexpression vector and CRISPR/sgRNA expression vector to target the bovine β-casein gene locus, followed by treatment of the cells with CdCl2 for 24 hours. After 3 days of CdCl2 treatment, the knock-in efficiency was confirmed by polymerase chain reaction (PCR). The mRNA expression levels of DNA MMR-related and DNA DSB repair-related genes were assessed by quantitative real-time PCR (RT-qPCR). Results: Treatment with CdCl2 decreased the mRNA expression of RAD51 and MMRrelated genes but did not increase the knock-in efficiency in MAC-T cells. Also, the overexpression of DNA DSB repair-related genes in MAC-T cells did not significantly affect the mRNA expression of MMR-related genes and failed to increase the knock-in efficiency. Conclusion: Treatment with CdCl2 inhibited the mRNA levels of RAD51 and DNA MMR-related genes in MAC-T cells. However, the function of MMR pathway in relation to HR may differ in various cell types or species.

The Annual Editions of SCI(Science Citation Index) CD-ROM over the last five years ('92-'96) were studied to investigate: 1) the status of domestic research activity in science & technology, in comparison with other countries, 2) research activity by universities and research institutes in Korea. Because the selection of journals in SCI is based on the criteria of citation sources, the journals registered in SCI are recognized as the Core Journals in each area of research. Therefore, the analysis result of SCI data is a quite reliable measurement to evaluate the research activities in science and technology. In 1996 a total of 6, 227 papers were listed on SCI, ranking the 21st up from the 29th in 1992. Over the last five years, the number had grown rapidly at an average of 29% per annum. This fast growth is expected to continue in the future.
The prototype of the field emission display with carbon nanotube emitter is developed in this study. To improve the brightness and color gamut of the prototype, new phosphor material, $SrGa_2S_4:Eu$, is adopted instead of conventional CRT-green phosphor. By replacing the green phosphor, the prototype shows significant improvements in the brightness and color gamut. At the anode voltage of 7 kV and the anode current of $2{\sim}3\;{\mu}A/cm^2$ the brightness is higher than $600\;cd/m^2$. The luminous efficiency of the prototype is about 7.7 lm/Watt.
Objectives: This study was carried out to investigate the effects of Sasammaickmoondong-tang (SME) on gastric mucosal lesions induced by indomethacin in mice. Methods: The normal group was no inflammation-induced mice. The control group was gastro-inflammation-induced mice. The sample group was mice administered SME after gastro-inflammation elicitation. Results: In the common morphology and histochemical change, the control group was observed with various injury-mucous surface cell, micro-villi, paneth cell, surface epithelial cell, goblet cell - by hemorrhagic erosion, while the sample group was as same as the normal group. In the immunohistochemical change, the distributions of COX-1, Bcl-2, and BrdU treated with SME were noticeably higher than in the control group (p<0.05). The distributions of TUNEL, NF-B, COX-2, IL-2R-, NK-1.1, ICAM-1, and CD11b/18 in those treated with SME were noticeably lower than in the control group (p<0.05). Finally, the distribution of SBA was the same as in the normal group. Conclusions: According to the above results, it is supposed that Sasammaickmoondong-tang is applicable to gastric mucosal lesions.
A straight chain flexible tetraamine ligand, 1,l0-dipropyl-5R-methyltriethylenetetraamine(R-$Pr_2$metrien) has been synthesized, and the dichloro and dinitro cobalt(III) complexes of this ligand have been prepared. The ligand has been expected to show a topological preference for the trans isomer. As expected, only trans geometrical isomers have been obtained and their structures have been elucidated via elemental analyses, nmr, electronic absorption and CD data.

As the rotational speed and the track density are increased, the vibration of disk/spindle system becomes critical issue. In this work, we propose a simple inclined air bearing(20mm${\times}$20mm) system which is positioned very near to the rotating disk especially compact disc(CD) as a flexible disk, and we investigate suppressing effect about disk mode (0,0) both experimentally and numerically. We find dynamic stiffness and damping coefficients of bearing and apply to the disk vibration. The results show about 10 percent errors comparing to the experimental results. Also we investigate experimentally the reduction of disk vibration and power consumption with two different kinds of inclined bearing for normal disk drive system, which has tray and cover. We find inclined air bearing can decrease about 30 percents of the original disk vibration amplitude.
