The effect of annealing on the Characteristics of CdTe thin film (태양전지용 CdTe박막의 열처리에 따른 특성)

  • In this paper, structual, optical properties of CdTe thin films and photovoltaic properties of thin film CdS/CdTe solar cell prepared by thermal vacuum evaporation were studied. The crystal structure of CdTe films was zircblend type with preferential orientation of the (111)plane parallel to the substrate. The heat treatment appears to stabilize this structure. The result of optical absorption and transmittance show that solar radiation with energy larger than bandgap is almost completely absorbed within an about $2{\mu}m$ thickness of the evaporated CdTe layer and transmittance of the CdTe film was larger with increasing annealing temperature. It was found that CdS/CdTe solar cell characteristics were improved by the heat treatment.

  • In the framework of universal multimedia access, one challenge for video transmission (communication) is to deliver video content through heterogeneous network channels matching the diversity of client devices. As one of the many adaptation methods, media transcoding is commonly considered. Particularly, FD (Frame Dropping)/CD Coefficient Dropping) transcoding is used due to the low computational complexity and simple implementation. In this scheme, CD is simply implemented by truncating the high frequency AC DCT coefficient bits. But, the CD error tends to be propagated within single GOV. In this paper, we derive the distortion relationships between CD error and propagation error, and investigate the error characteristics by computer simulations. The CD error characteristics can be effectively used in the FD/CD transcoding scheme.

An Adaptive Estimation Model for Propagation Errors Incurred by CD in FD-CD Transcoding (FD-CD 트랜스코딩기법에서 CD에 의한 전파 왜곡의 적응적 예측 모델)

  • Recently, FD(Frame Dropping)-CD(Coefficient Dropping) transcoding is considered mainly due to the low computational complexity and simple implementation. But, CD errors in the FD-CD transtoding scheme tend to be propagated and they have a significant effect on the qualities of decoded images. In this paper, we derive the error characteristics incurred by the CD operations and propose an effective estimation model that adaptively describes well the characteristics of propagation/accumulation errors in compressed domain. Furthermore, we apply the proposed model to distortion control achieving nearly constant distortion allocation among frames. Simulation results show that the proposed model is quite accurate in estimating the overall distortions and is effectively applied to distortion control over a range of sequences with varying scene types.

  • A CdS film has been used as a window layer in CdTe and Cu(In,Ga)$Se_2$ thin films solar cell. Partial substitution of Zn for Cd increases the photocurrent and the open-circuit voltage by providing a match in the electron affinities of the two materials and the higher band gap. In this paper, CdZnS/CdTe and CdS/CdTe heterojunctions were fabricated and the electrical characteristics were investigated. Current-voltage-temperature measurements showed that the current transport for CdS/CdTe heterojunction was controlled by both tunneling and interface recombination. However, CdZnS/CdTe heterojunction displayed different current transport mechanism with the operating temperature. For above room temperature, the current transport of device was generation/recombination in the depletion region and was the leakage current and/or tunneling in the range below room temperature.

  • CdSe nanoparticles were prepared by chemical solution methods using $CdCl_2{\cdot}4H_2O$ (or $Cd(NO_3)_ 2{\cdot}4H_2O$) and $Na_2SeSO_3$. The characteristics of CdSe nanoparticles were controlled by the react ion time, reaction temperature and reaction method as well as the surfactants. Cetyltrimethyl ammonium bromide(CTAB) was used as a capping agent to control the chemical reactions in aqueous solution. Polyvinylalcohol(PVA) was used as a templet in sono-chemical method. CdSe nanoparticles synthesized in aqueous solution showed homogeneous size distribution with relatively stable surface. CdSe nanoparticles synthesized in non-aqueous solution containing diethanolamine(DEA) showed the structure transformation from cubic to hexagonal as the reduction temperature increased from 80 to $160^{\circ}C$. Core shell CdSe was synthesized by sono-chemical method. Characteristics of CdSe nanoparticles were analyzed using transmission electron microscopy(TEM), x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS), x-ray diffraction(XRD), UV-Vis absorption spectra, fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FT-IR) and photoluminescence spectra spectroscopy(PL). This paper presents simple routes to prepare CdSe nanoparticles for solar cell applications.

  • The HgCdTe material, which is II-VI compound semiconductor, is important materials for the fabrication of the infrared detectros. To suggest the model of accurate MIS C-V calculation for narrow band gap semiconductors such as HgCdTe, non-parabolicity from k.p theory and degeneracy effect are considered. And partially ionized effect and compensation effect which are material's properties are also considerd. Especially, degenerated material C-V characteristics from Fermi-Dirac statistics and exact charge theory are presented to get more accurate analysis of the experimental results. Also the comparison with calculation results between the general MIS theory from Boltzmann appoximation method and this model which is considered the narrow band gap semiconductor properties, show that this model is more useful theory to determination of accurate low and high frequency C-V characteristics.

Characterization of Human Dental Pulp Cells from Supernumerary Teeth by Using Flow Cytometry Analysis (유세포 분석을 통한 과잉치 치수 유래 세포의 줄기세포 특성 연구)

  • The aim of this study was to analyze cells from human dental pulp tissue of impacted supernumerary teeth as stem cells with flow cytometry. Human dental pulp cells from 15 supernumerary teeth were identified their characteristics as stem cells by expression of mesenchymal stem cell markers through flow cytometry analysis at passage 3 and passage 10. Cluster of differentiation (CD) 73, CD 90, CD 34, CD 45 and STRO-1 cell surface markers were used to figure out characteristics of dental pulp stem cells from supernumerary teeth. At passage 3, the cell population showed positive expression of CD 73, CD90 and STRO-1, lacked expression of CD 34 and CD 45. At passage 10, CD 73, CD 90 and STRO-1 showed positive expression while CD 34 and CD 45 showed negative expression. This study indicated that dental pulp stem cells of supernumerary teeth had the properties of mesenchymal stem cells at both early and late passage. Impacted supernumerary teeth could be considered as a noble source of stem cells because of rapid growth and maintaining characteristics of stem cells until late passage.

Synthesis of hollow Sphere CdSe in PVA Aqueous Solution by Using Ultrasonic Irradiation (PVA 함유 수용액으로부터 초음파 조사에 의한 CdSe 중공 입자의 합성)

  • CdSe hollow spheres with the diameter of about 30-50 nm were synthesized after ultrasonic irradiation in the presence of $Cd(NO_3)_2,\;Na_2SeSO_3$, and polyvinylalcohol(PVA). The characteristics of CdSe hollow spheres were analyzed using X-ray diffraction(XRD), transmission electron microscopy(TEM), UV-vis measurement and PL spectrometer. The characteristics of solvent as water and water-1-propanol mixture in the system played important roles on the controlled synthesis of hollow sphere. Based on the observation of morphological difference of CdSe, the possible mechanism of CdSe hollow sphere formation will be discussed.

Preparation and characterization of CdS nanoparticle on the surface of silica nanoparticles (실리카 나노입자 표면에 CdS 나노입자의 제조 및 평가)

  • Poly(vinylpyrrolidone) stabilized cadmium sulfide (CdS) nanoparticles were loaded onto the surface of silica ($SiO_2$) nanoparticles by using ${\gamma}$-irradiation. TEM micrograph reveals the presence of ~20nm sized CdS nanoparticles on the surface of $SiO_2$ nanoparticles. XRD patterns confirm the crystalline. PL spectra of the simple PVP-stabilized CdS nanoparticle and $SiO_2$@CdS composite confirm the differences in the emission characteristics between them. Two prominent emission peaks were noted around 550 nm and 600 nm for PVP-stabilized CdS nanoparticles). The emission peaks noted for the PVP-stabilized CdS nanoparticles were found to be blue shifted for $SiO_2$@CdS composites. Besides, an additional emission peak around 450 nm was noticed for the $SiO_2$@CdS composite. The presence of CdS nanoparticles influence the emission characteristics and induce quantum confinement effect.

Preparation and Characteristics of Elongated CdSe nanoparticles (CdSe 나노 입자의 이방성 구조 제어 및 특성연구)

  • Elongated CdSe nanoparticles with a diameter of 3-7nm have been successfully synthesized using two surfactants of trioctylphospine (TOP) and hexadecylamine (HDA) at $160^{\circ}C$. The formation of elongated CdSe nanoparticles is possibly due to the cooperative effects from both the different binding capability of two surfactants (TOP and HDA) and intrinsically anisotropic crystal structure of the CdSe. The electron diffraction pattern of CdSe nanoparticles revealed the formation of wurzite phase. The CdSe samples showed red-shifted wavelength from 560 to 580nm with increasing the refluxing time due to the gradual growth of CdSe nanoparticles. The relatively broad absorption band can be attributed to the surface state of CdSe nanoparticles. The possible formation mechanism of elongated CdSe nanoparticles was proposed and the characteristics of CdSe have been discussed as well.
