  • ICN architecture, one of future Internet technologies, proposes that content request packets toward a content source can be responded by several distributed nodes. So, ICN can solve network congestion which is happened around content sources and provide a seamless content distribution service regardless of the network and system statuses of content sources. Especially, CCN implements content caching functionality in network nodes so that such intermediated network nodes can themselves respond to content requests. However, when receiving content from distributed nodes, users receiving content cannot authenticate the nodes providing the content. So CCN is vulnerable to various attacks such as an impersonation attack, a data pollution attack, and so on. This paper first describes CCN content authentication and its weakness. Then it proposes an improved content authentication scheme based on a blockchain and evaluates the performance of the proposed scheme.

  • Information Centric Networking is changing the way how content is being transmitted. The shift from IP and host based networking towards content based networking scenario is growing day by day. Many researches have been done about different frameworks of ICN. Caching is an important part of ICN and many researchers have also proposed different ways for caching the data. With caching of data in intermediate devices like the network devices as well the user devices in some cases, the issue of content security as well as the role of the content producer becomes a major concern. A modified ICN architecture based on the current Content Centric Networking (CCN) model is presented in the paper. The architecture mainly focuses on involving the content producer in content delivery in the real time. The proposed architecture provides better security aspects for the CCN architecture. Apart from security the paper will also consider the issue of applicability of CCN architecture to replace the TCP/IP based architecture. The efficiency of the proposed architecture is compared with the previous CCN architecture based on the response time for a content delivery which shows very comparable level of efficiency. The paper than analyzes different beneficial aspects of the proposed architecture over the current architecture.

  • CCN(Content-Centric Network) enables users to retrieve content using the content's name. Researchers face critical challenges in terms of mobility. Since the routing information is part of the content name, when the provider moves, it is necessary to update all the routers routing information. However, this requires significant costs. In this paper, we propose PNPCCN(Proactive Neighbor Pushing CCN), considering the popularity and rarity of mobility support, for providers in CCN environments. Via simulation studies, we demonstrate that our solutions are effective in terms of shorter numbers of retransmitted Interest packets, and average download times and higher delivery ratios during mobility.

  • Recently, Information-Centric Networking(ICN), different from traditional IP-based networking, has been highlighted. Content-Centric Networking(CCN), proposed by Van Jacobson, is a representative scheme of the ICN architectures. It can deliver messages slightly faster than the IP-based networking by focusing on the access and delivery to the content itself. However, CCN is restricted to distribute the information without transmitting the request packet in advance because it is pull-based architecture by content requester. In addition, it has a problem that the Pending Interest Table(PIT) could be overloaded easily when DDoS attack happens. In this paper, we suggest an algorithm using a push-based scheme without request packets and overcoming PIT overload situation by Interest Group Push Table(IGPT). The proposed scheme enables to transmit a large amount of content than an existing scheme during the same amount of time in terms of timely-delivery and security.

  • To enhance network efficiency, CCN allow intermediate network nodes between a content consumer and a content publisher to temporarily cache transmitted contents. Then the network nodes immediately return back the cached contents to another consumers when the nodes receives relevant contents request messages from the consumers. For that, CCN utilizes hierarchical content names to forward a request message as well as a response message. However, such content names semantically contain much information about domain/user as well as content itself. So it is possible to invade users' privacy. In this paper, we first review both the problem of CCN name in the view point of privacy and proposed schemes. Then we propose an improved name management scheme for users' privacy preservation.

  • CCN proposes that intermediate network nodes on a network path for a transmitted data-packet cache the data-packet. If the nodes receive request packets for the cached data, the nodes can directly respond to the request-packets using the cached data. Since a request-packet can be responded by one of the intermediate nodes on a path of the request-packet, both faster response time and decreased data transmission amount are expected comparing to the existing host centric networking. However, CCN is vulnerable against forgery attacks because data-packet receivers cannot identify a data provider. Hence, a data authentication scheme is essentially needed to make CCN more secure. But such a data authentication process is one of the main causes of CCN-based service delays. This paper first analyzes the problems of a CCN data authentication scheme, then proposes an improved authentication operation scheme for efficiently authenticating data, and finally evaluates its performance.

  • Military communications have limited resources such as poor bandwidth and insufficient link capacity. Numerous hosts in conventional IP networks, including the Tactical Information Communication Network (TICN), the tactical communication system of the Army, focus heavy traffic on a single server via end-to-end connections and in which data delivery latency is caused by exchanging routing information. Content-Centric Networking (CCN), one framework of Information-Centric Networking (ICN), is a novel Internet paradigm in which data can be accessed by the name of the content instead of the location information. This paper provides content caching strategies for applying CCN to military tactical IP networks based on TICN environment.

  • For enhancing network efficiency, various applications/services like CDN and P2P try to utilize content which have previously been cached somewhere. Content-centric networking (CCN) also utilizes data caching functionality. However, dislike CDN/P2P, CCN implements such a function on network nodes. Then, any intermediated nodes can directly respond to request messages for cached data. Hence, it is essential which content is cached as well as which nodes cache transmitted content. Basically, CCN propose for every nodes on the path from the content publisher of transmitted object to a requester to cache the object. However, such an approach is inefficient considering the utilization of cached objects as well as the storage overhead of each node. Hence, various caching mechanisms are proposed to enhance the storage efficiency of a node. In this paper, we analyze the performance of such mechanisms and compare the characteristics of such mechanisms. Also, we analyze content utilization patterns and apply such pattern to caching mechanisms to analyze the practicalism of the caching mechanisms.

  • The rapid growth of smartphone-to-Internet of Things (IoT) connections and the explosive demand for data usage centered on mobile video are increasing day by day, and this increase in data usage creates many problems in the IP system. In a full-based environment, in which information requesters focus on information providers to receive information from specific servers, problems arise with bottlenecks and large data processing. To address this problem, CCN networking technology, a future network technology, has emerged as an alternative to CCN networking technology, which reduces bottlenecks that occur when requesting popular content through caching of intermediate nodes and increases network efficiency, and can be applied to military information and communication networks to address the problem of traffic concentration and the use of various surveillance equipment in full-based networks, such as scientific monitoring systems, and to provide more efficient content.
