실시간(REAL-TIME) CCD 측광 프로그램 개발 (DEVELOPMENT OF THE REAL-TIME CCD PHOTOMETRIC PROGRAM)

  • We developed a real-time CCD photometric program for IBM PC compatibles. This program can perform several functions necessary for CCD photometry such as telescope control. filter rotation, CCD camera control and data acquisition, two-dimensional image processing, simple aperture photometry and automatic differential photometry. The image processing of a spiral galaxy M51 observed with the SNU 61cm reflector shows a well developed spiral structure. Simple aperture photometric results of 14 stars in open cluster NGC 6871 almost accorded with those from IRAF/APPHOT. And we could confirm the light variation of eclipsing binary EM Cep by simultaneous automatic differential photometry of 7stars in NGC 7160. Due to the excellence in the precision and efficiency of automatic differential photometry using CCD. this program is very useful for the study of small amplitude ${\delta}$ Sct type variables and of the photometric stability of B ${\sim}$ F type stars.

H$\bate$CCD 측광의 정확도 (THE ACCURACY OF H$\bate$CCD PHOTOMETRY)

  • We have undertaken CCD observations of fie이 standard stars with H$\beta$ photometric system to investigate the reliability of H$\beta$ CCD photometry. Flat fielding with dome flat and sky flat for H$\beta$w and H$\beta$n filter was compared with that of B filter in UBV system and, from these, we have not found any difference. It was confirmed that there is a good linear relationship between our H$\beta$ values observed with 2.3m reflector and standard values. However, H$\beta$ values observed with 60cm reflector at Sobaeksan Astronomy Observatory showed very poor relationship. To investigate the accuracy of H$\beta$ CCD photometry for fainter objects, open cluster NGC2437 was observed and reduced with DoPHOT, and the results were compared with those for photoelectric photometry of Stetson(1981).

  • We developed an Automatized Differential Photometry System (ADPS) to achieve high time resolution and high efficiency in the photometric observations of short period variable stars. This ADPS has been introduced to the CCD camera system attached to the 6lcm Reflector at Sobaeksan Astronomy Observatory. Several new algorithms were devised for the controlling the telescope. the star recognition in a CCD frame and the aperture photometry, etc..As the result, the differential photometric observation was fully automatized without any manual control, and much faster data acquisition could be achieved over the conventional photoelectric differential photometry.

  • We have developed a new device, Plate-to-CCD Convertor (PCC), to conveniently digitize photographic plates in a relatively short time without losing any plate information (Oh et al. 1995). Using this device we have performed surface photometry of 12 early type galaxies. We determined relative orientations and scales to analyze PCC images. We also determined an ellipticity, position angle of the major axis, and $a_4$ of each galaxy to quantify the distribution of surface brightness. We checked the performance and limitation of this device by comparing the PCC images with those digitized by the ST microdensitometer and those obtained with CCD observations.

산개성단 NGC 2420에 대한 UBVI CCD 측광 (UBVI CCD PHOTOMETRY OF THE OPEN CLUSTER NGC 2420)

  • We present a new UBVI CCD photometry of the intermediate-age open cluster NGC 2420. Our photometry covers a field of $7'9\times7.'7$ of the sky centered on the cluster. We determined the reddening and distance to the cluster by the main sequence fitting as $E(B - V) = 0.05\pm0.02$ and $(m-M)_o = 11.9\pm0.1$, along with the age of $\~2$ Gyr by fitting the Padova isochrones to the observed color-magnitude diagrams of the cluster. The fraction of binaries is found to be $44\pm5\%$ and they are likely to locate in the central region of the cluster. The spatial distributions of the binaries and the variation of the cluster luminosity functions along the radius suggest mass segregations due to the dynamical evolution of the cluster.

CCD PHOTOMETRY OF STANDARD STARS AT MAIDANAK ASTRONOMICAL OBSERVATORY IN UZBEKSTAN: TRANSFORMATIONS AND COMPARISONS

  • Observation of standard stars is of crucial importance in stellar photometry. We have studied the standard transformation relations of the UBV RI CCD photometric system at the Maidanak Astronomical Observatory in Uzbekistan. All observations were made with the AZT-22 1.5m telescope, SITe 2k CCD or Fairchild 486 CCD, and standard Bessell UBV RI filters from 2003 August to 2007 September. We observed many standard stars around the celestial equator observed by SAAO astronomers. The atmospheric extinction coefficients, photometric zero points, and time variation of photometric zero points of each night were determined. Secondary extinction coefficients and photometric zero points were very stable, while primary extinction coefficients showed a distinct seasonal variation. We also determined the transformation coefficients for each filter. For B, V, R, and I filters, the transformation to the SAAO standard system could be achieved with a straight line or a combination of two straight lines. However, in the case of the U filter and Fairchild 486 CCD combination, a significant non-linear correction term - related to the size of Balmer jump or the strength of the Balmer lines - of up to 0:08 mags was required. We found that our data matched well the SAAO photometry in V, B - V, V - I, and R - I. But in U - B, the difference in zero point was about 3.6 mmag and the scatter was about 0.02 mag. We attribute the relatively large scatter in U -B to the larger error in U of the SAAO photometry. We confirm the mostly small differences between the SAAO standard UBV RI system and the Landolt standard system. We also attempted to interpret the seasonal variation of the atmospheric extinction coefficients in the context of scattering sources in the earth's atmosphere.

  • We Present a B and V band time-series CCD photometry of the Delta scuti stars, BV Cnc, BN Cnc, BU Cnc, BS Cnc, in the open cluster M44. The observation was carried out for 36 nights between February, 2020 and February 2021 with a 0.6m telescope equipped 2K CCD camera at Gyeonggi Science High School for the Gifted(GSHS). To detect pulsational frequencies, we wuse Discret Fourier Transformation(DFT) method. We have detected resonable pulsational frequencis compare to previous study.

구상성단 M71의 BV CCD 측광: 거리 그리고 나이 (BV CCD PHOTOMETRY OF M71: DISTANCE AND AGE)

  • 이 논문에서는 우리 은하 구상 성단 M7l에 대한 B, V CCD 영상 관측 자료로부터 색-등급도(color-magnitude diagram)를 구하고, 이로부터 이 성단의 거리와 상대적 나이를 결정하였다. M7l의 적색화 현상(E(B - V) = 0.28)과 금속함량(-0.79 < 〔Fe/H〕 < -0.70)은 최근 논문의 값을 채택하였다 이 자료를 토대로 관측으로부터 얻은 M71 색등급도의 기준선을 Hipparcos준왜성의 측광 특성과 비교하여 M71의 거리지수를 (m- M)v = 13.46(${\pm}0.17$)과 같이 결정하였다. 비슷한 금속 함량을 가지는 구상 성단47 Tuc의 색등급도를 이 연구에서 구한M71의 색등급도와 비교한 결과 두 성단의 나이는 상당한 차이가 있음을 확인할 수 있었고, isochrone과의 비교 결과 적어도 20억년 이상의 차이가 존재한다는 사실을 알 수 있었다.

THE BVR CCD PHOTOMETRY OF GLOBULAR CLUSTER M13

  • The BVR CCD photometry was performed for the globular cluster M13 down to $V=19^m$ over the region from the center to the west 13 arcmin and the CMD of M13 is investigated. The major photometric error in the crowded field which is due to the variation in the sky background was corrected by the median filtering method and the direct sky method. Some characteristics of the CMD of M13 obtained in the present study are as follows: Firstly, the distribution of stars on the CMD is well consistent with the mean lines of Sandage(1970) along the red giant branch(RGB), horizontal branch(HB) and asymtotic giant branch(AGB). Secondly, some gaps exists along the RGB and blue horizontal branch(BHB). Thirdly, the UV-bright stars are more concentrated at the inner region of the cluster.

CCD를 이용한 변광성의 측광관측 (CCD OBSERVATIONS OF SOME VARIABLE STARS)

  • 우리는 충북대학교가 보유하고 었는 $1024\times1024$ pixel의 CCD 카메라를 이용하여 식변광성 U Cep를 1993년 1월 11-12일에 측광관측하였다. 이날 얻은 총 62개의 관측점을 가지고 제1극심 부근의 광도곡선을 완성하여 JD Hel 2448999.7274의 극심 시각을 결정하였다. 한편 1993년 10월 21-22일에 미국 네브라스카 대학의 Behlen 천문대에서 변광성 GW Cep와 V700 Cyg를 CCD 측광관측하여 총 168개의 관측점을 만들었다. 이들 자료를 가지고 광도곡선들을 완성하였고, GW Cep의 광도극심 시각 JD Hel 2449282.8485와 V700 Cyg의 광도극심 시각 JD Hel 2449282.7979을 각각 결정하였다. Behlen천문대의 CCD 관측방법과 충북대의 관측방법의 장단점을 비교하고 충북대 관측 방법의 개선을 위해 노출후 램에 기억되어 있는 CCD화상으로부터 직접 필요한 부분의 밝기만을 측정하고 이를 저장하는 방식의 개념을 제시하였다.
