  • Fruit piercing moths were collected at every other at orchaed(16.5ha) planted with plum, peach and pear, and surrounded by forest in Gyeongnam province from jun to September in 1987. Four black light (BL) traps were lightened to attract the moths from sunset to sunrise and sweep net was also used to catch the moths on fruit and around fruit trees from 22 to 23 o'clock, 20 minutes per fruit tree species. Forty-one species, including 15 primary piercing species(PPS) and 22 secondary piercing species (SPS), from 3 families were collected and identified as fruit piercing moths. Among them, 16 species are newly recorded as fruit piercing moths in Korea. O. emarginata, L. juno, P. stuposa, C. lata and O. excavata were diminant species of PPS, comprising 86.7% of the whole PPS. Dominant species of SPS were A. ipsilon, M. turca, S. retorata, A. livida and T. oldenlandiae, comprising 80.5% of the whole SPS. The ratios of PPS to the whole fruit piercing moths collected by BL traps and net were sweep 15.2% and 79.7%, repectively. By sweep net L. juno, P. stuposa, and O. emarginata was also captured in a large numbers on peach, C. lata was on plum, and S. retorata was on pear.

  • Data on the trawl operation was compiled from the Korea stern trawlers operated in the sea off the Sahara coast of Africa from May 1975 to April 1976. The distribution of some important demersal fishes were investigated by calculating the catch per haul in every fishing ground sections divided by every fishing ground sections divided by every 30' of latitude and longitude. The results obtained are as follows; 1. The mean catch per haul calculated as: squid 14.9kg, large cuttlefish 29.9kg, small cuttlefish 37.8kg, octopus 44.1kg, sole 8.0kg, seabream 9.3kg and miscellaneous fishes 63.1kg. Where cuttlefish is divided into two sizes, large or small by if it weighs over 300kg or not. 2. Squid were caught mostly from August to November in the northern part of 24$^{\circ}$30'N and southern part of 23$^{\circ}$30'N. 3. Large cuttlefish were caught mostly from December to May of the next year, in the coast from 23$^{\circ}$00'N to 25$^{\circ}$00'N, where as small cuttlefish were caught mostly from April to June and from November to January of next year, in the coast from 23$^{\circ}$30'N to 25$^{\circ}$00'N. 4. Octopus were caught mostly from September to January of the next year and from March to April. in the coast from 23$^{\circ}$00'N to 25$^{\circ}$00'N rather in the offshore than in the near coast. 5. Miscellaneous fishes including seabream were caught from May to November, sole from June to November and the others from May to October.

  • Studies were carried out to examine seasonal occurrence and emergence pattern of the onion fly, Delia antiqua (Meigen), in the field of Chinju city in Gyeongnam province from 1984 to 1987. Trap catch revealed that the onion fly had three generations in a year, the second flight being partial; the peaks of adult occurrence were at mid April for the overwintered generation (1st flight), at early June for the first generation (2nd flight), and at the period from late September to early October for the autumn generation (3rd flight). It was shown that parts of the pupae in the first and almost all of the pupae in the second (or autumn) generation underwent summer diapause. The pupal periods were less than 22.4 days for the non-diapaused pupae, while those of the diapause. The pupal periods were less than 22.4 days for the non-diapaused pupae, while those of the diapaused pupae were form 8.5 to 145 days in the first generation in he filed, being shorter for the pupae pupated later. This resutled in synchronization on the emergence of these diapaused pupae at late September, with the adults from the second generation pupae. The ratio of diapausing pupae increased among the later pupated ones in the first generation ; the pupae which had been pupated in early May included 43.8% of diapausing pupae, while more than 86.7% of the pupae were under diapausing state for the pupae pupated in late May and thereafter. More than 93.3% of the pupae went into diapause, regardless of pupation time for the second generation.

  • In general, to conduct aesthetic restorations, various analyses are carried out using a camera from the initial examination with the final prosthesis in consideration. With the reality that many dentists are using digital cameras, it can be considered that the time of digital impression has already started. Just as the recent general trend is that more and more internationally renowned photographers are switching their film cameras to digital counterparts, it is likely that CAD/CAM will show another direction in the area of the aesthetic dentistry that we may want to pursue. With the word 'digital', the convenience and economics often come to mind in the first place. However, from the dental clinical viewpoint, it is important to improve and develop the CAD/CAM system based on understanding its specialty and superiority while respecting the conventional analog techniques. However, a regretful aspect is that it is often difficult to catch up with the latest advancements for proper referencing and follow-up of digital technologies since the CAD/CAM device and material are developing very rapidly. Accordingly, although it is ideal to have hands-on experiences in various digital material and devices, and adapt to their fast changes, it must be stressed that the clinical application is to be implemented on the basis of the proven traditional way of dental clinics in order to obtain better outcomes. This presentation will explore types of approaches that can be made by combining the traditional techniques and the CAD/CAM from the aesthetic viewpoint. In addition, it is hoped and eagerly awaited that the CAD/CAM restoration may play a significant role in the field of the 'digital art'.

  • The horizontal distribution of squid gill-net fishing ground in the North Pacific Ocean was examined within the main fishing season, May to October, during 1986~1989. Data of sea surface temperature were selected from Technical Reports of National Fisheries Research Development Agency of Korea, Data Records of Hokkaido University, Deep-sea Training Reports of Korea Fishing Training centre, Fishing Operation Reports of Daelim Fisheries Co., Ltd., Oyang Fisheries Co., Ltd. and Dong-won Industrial Co., Ltd.. Data of catch were also collected from Deep-sea Training Reports of Korea Fishing Training Centre and Fishing Operation Report of three fisheries companies in Korea. The fishing ground was segmented in every 1 degree of latitude from $34^{\circ}N$ to $46^{\circ}N$ and 2 degree of longitude from $144^{\circ}E$ to $162^{\circ}W.$ The distribution and centeroid of fishing ground, fished and optimum surface temperature, catch per unit effort (CPUE) in the fishing ground were computed, based on the above data. The resulted obtained can be summarized as follows: 1. Range of fishing ground can be estimated as $35^{\circ}~40^{\circ}N,$ $178^{\circ}~166^{\circ}W$ in May, $36^{\circ}~41^{\circ}N,$ $178^{\circ}E~166^{\circ}W$ in June, $38^{\circ}~44^{\circ}N,$ $170^{\circ}E~170^{\circ}W$ in July, $39^{\circ}~44^{\circ}N,$ $144^{\circ}~180^{\circ}E$ in August, $39^{\circ}~44^{\circ}N,$ $144^{\circ}~170^{\circ}E$ in September and $40^{\circ}~44^{\circ}N,$ $144^{\circ}~154^{\circ}E$ in October. 2. Fishing ground in May, June and October is similarly distributed along longitude and latitude, but the range of the former is larger than that of the latter in July, August and September. Monthly centeroids of fishing sectors is estimated as #3888 in May, #3884 in June, #4078 in July, #4154 in August, #4146 in September and #4044 in October respectively. 3. Fished temperature and optimum and temperature are estimated as $14.0~18.5^{\circ}C$ and $15.0~16.0^{\circ}C$ in May, $13.5~18.5^{\circ}C$ and $14.5~16.0^{\circ}C$ in June, $14.0~20.0^{\circ}C$ and $14.5^{\circ}C,$ $19.0^{\circ}C$ in July, $16.0~21.5^{\circ}C$ and $18.0~20.0^{\circ}C$ in August, $14.5~22.0^{\circ}C$ and $17.0~18.5^{\circ}C$ in September, $14.0~18.0^{\circ}C$ and $16.0~17.0^{\circ}C$ in October. 4. Monthly mean CPUE which corresponds to the net weight of catch(kg) divided by the sheet number of operated gillnets is calcuted as 3.2, 4.5, 4.3, 5.1, 6.4 and 5.8 kg/sheet respectively. 5. Considering the monitoring program of the squid gill-net fishery in the North Pacific Ocean during 1989~1990, set by the Korean Government, 12 sectors may be restricted out of 21 fishing sectors in May, 7 out of 24 in June, 4 out of 25 in July. They are free from restriction hereafter August.

  • Purpose: The repair would require to conserve and improve the building function and performance since built. Each household is responsible for maintaining the public facilities and paying the required cost. Therefore, it needs to get the tool or method to forecast the required cost in the future. Before the repair cost is provided, it needs to catch the repair cost distribution and provide the unit cost for the repair cycle. In this study, it aimed at providing the repair cost unit and analyzing the repair cost distribution in a roof proofing work, elevator work and building painting, which are divided into a fully work and partly change. Results of this study are shown that first, the average repair cost for roof proofing work is provided with $166.59{\times}10^3won/household$ and $1.59{\times}10^3won/m^2$ of a full change, $33.22{\times}10^3won/household$ and $0.33{\times}10^3won/m^2$ for a partly work. In addition, elevator work is $557.45{\times}10^3won/household$ and $5.38{\times}10^3won/m^2$ for a full change, $32.92{\times}10^3won/household$ and $0.56{\times}10^3won/m^2$ for a partly repair. Painting has a $304.48{\times}10^3won/household$ and $2.94{\times}10^3won/m^2$. Second, the distribution pattern of repair unit cost has a weibull-typed distribution which has a long tail to the right.

  • Catches, CPUE, fishing season, disc width composition and fishing ground were studied to rebuild skate ray, Raja pulchra resource by the offshore longline fishery in Heuksan-do, Korea. Annual catches and CPUE of skate ray were increased from 2003 to 2010 (CPUE: from 2007 to 2010) continuously. The main fishing season of the skate ray was from December to next May. Disc width at 50% maturity for Raja pulchra by sex were estimated to be 65.83cm, 57.01cm by female and male respectively. The range of disc width was 22.3-112.0cm and the average disc width was 66.9cm, 60.0cm by female and male of Raja pulchra respectively during 2007-2010. Annual average of disc width of female skate ray was decreased from 2007 to 2010. The fishing grounds were formed from the coastal water off Hong-do to the coastal water off Gyeogyeolbiyeol-do, Korea. The center of fishing ground in October was formed in the northwestern coastal water off Gyeogyeolbiyeol-do and separated from that of the other months.

  • Two experiments were executed to investigate the effect of uniform connectedness systematically using the identification task of briefly exposed forms. Previous study observed negative repetition effected (i.e., NRE) in the identification task of two parentheses either connected or disconnected vertically, which was interpreted as an evidence against the hypothesis of uniform connectedness. Experiment I tested the hypothesis that NRE resulted from the Perceptual set or anticipating disconnected displays. Experiment 2 tested the hypothesis that NRE resulted from relatively shorter exposure time. Using partial report task asking participants to report only the cued target and whole report task asking them to report the whole pattern with only connected displays, experiment 1 observed NRE respectively. Experiment 2, with longer exposure time equivalent to 83% accuracy and response bias controlled by use of catch trials, obtained the same NRE. Those results seems to indicate that uniformly connected forms were processed analytically by perceivers without task demand and futhermore, the hypothesis of uniform connectedness as a principle of perceptual organization is not plausible.

  • Recently, with the increase of environmental problems, the importance of environmental education has also been emphasized. Science is a subject that enormously contributes to education about the environment, education in the environment, and education for the environment. Among various fields of science, earth science has a large amount of contents related environmental education, from the perspectives that the subjects of earth science are natural and artificial changes in the earth surface. Accordingly, it is clear that earth science education can play an important role in environmental education. This is proved in the fact that the goal and specifics of earth systems education coincidence with those of environmental education. Earth science curriculum in Korea, however, contains few contents related to environmental education. Earth science education that concerns our environment as a whole will help not only catch a new interest on the field of earth science but actively participate in solving our environmental problems.

  • In this paper, an automatic functional inspection system EVT (Emulated Vision Tester) for LCD drive module PCB has been proposed and implemented. Typical automatic inspection system such as probing methods and vision-based systems are widely known and used, however, there exist undetectable defects due to critical timing factors which they may miss to catch from LCD equipments. Especially typical vision-based systems have inconsistency on acquisition of images so that distinction between gray scales can be difficult which results in low level of performance and reliability on the inspection results. The proposed EVT system is pure hardware solution. It directly compares pattern signals from a pattern generator to output signals from LCD drive module. It also inspects variety of analog signals such as voltage, resistance, wave forms and so forth. The EVT system not only shows high performance in terms of reliability and processing speed but reduces costs on inspection and maintenance. Also, full automation of entire production line can be realized when EVT is applied in in-line inspection processes.
