  • This paper proposes a design method for a 3-phase interior permanent magnet synchronous motor (IPMSM) and clamping force control method for an electro-mechanical brake (EMB) using co-simulation for a high-speed train (HST). A traditional pneumatic brake system needs much space for the compressor, brake reservoir, and air pipe. However, an EMB system uses up to 50% less space due to the use of a motor and electric wires for controlling the brake caliper. In addition, it can reduce the latency time for brake control because of the fast response and precise control. A train that has many brakes is advantageous for safety because of the control by sharing the braking force. In this paper, a driving method for a cam-shaft-type EMB is modeled. It is different from the ball-screw-type brakes that are widely used in automobiles. In addition, a co-simulation method is proposed using JMAG and Matlab/Simulink. The IPMSM was designed and analyzed with the JMAG tool, and the control system was simulated using Matlab/Simulink. The effectiveness of the co-simulation results of the mechanical clamping force and braking force was verified by comparison with the clamping force specifications of a HEMU-430X HST.

  • This paper presents a traffic pattern matching hardware that can be used in high performance network applications. The presented hardware is designed for a contents security system which is to block various kinds of information drain or intrusion activities. The hardware consists of two parts: the header lookup and string pattern matching parts. For implementing the header lookup part in hardware, the TCAMs(ternary CAMs) are popularly used. Since the TCAM approach is inefficient in terms of the hardware and memory costs and the power consumption, however, we adopt and modify an alternative approach based on the comparator arrays and the HiCuts tree. Our implementation results, using Xilinx FPGA XC4VSX55, show that our design can reduce the usage of the FPGA slices by about 26%, and the Block RAM by about 58%. In the design of string pattern matching part, we design and use a hashing module based on cellular automata, which is hardware efficient and consumes less power by adaptively changing its configuration to reduce the collision rates.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to compare the fracture strength of the zirconia ceramic crowns according to tooth position. Material and methods: After 10 metal dies were made for each group, the zirconia ceramic crowns were fabricated using CAD/CAM system ($Lava^{TM}$ All-Ceramic System) and each crown was cemented on each metal die with resin cement (Rely $X^{TM}$ Unicem). The cemented zirconia ceramic crowns mounted on the testing jig were inclined with 30 degrees to the long axis of the tooth and the universal testing machine was used to measure the fracture strength. Results: 1. The fracture strength of the zirconia ceramic crown in the lower 1st molar (2963 N) had the highest and that in the lower central incisor (1035 N) had the lowest. 2. The fracture strength of zirconia ceramic crown was higher than that of the IPS Empress crowns in all tooth position. 3. The fracture mode of the crowns was similar. Most of fracture lines began at the loading area and extended through proximal surface perpendicular to the long axis of the crowns. 4. There were no significant differences on the fracture strength of the zirconia ceramic crowns according to tooth position except in premolar group. Conclusion: Within the limitations of this study, the results suggested that strength of zirconia ceramic crown is satisfactory for clinical use.

  • The high pressure pump of a diesel injection system compresses the fuel supplied at low pressure into high pressure fuel and maintains the fuel of the common rail at the required pressure level according to the engine operating conditions. The high pressure pump is required to operate normally in order to compress the fuel to a high pressure of 2000 bar during the entire lifetime of the vehicle. Consequently, a suitable design technique, material durability and high precision machining are required. In this study, the high pressure pump simulation model of a 1-plunger radial piston pump is modelled by using the AMESim code. The main simulation parameters are the displacement, flow rate and pressure characteristics of the inlet and outlet valves, cam torque characteristics, and operating characteristics of the fuel metering valve and overflow valve. In addition, the operating characteristics of the pump are simulated according to the parameter changes of the hole diameter and the spring initial force of the inlet valve. The simulation results show that the operation of the developed pump model is logically valid. This paper also proposes a simulation model that can be used for current pump design changes and new pump designs.

  • Statement of problem : Problem of matching the appearance of porcelain restorations with the patient's natural dentition has always been a concern to dental clinicians. Recently, demands for esthetics, even in restorations requiring strength, has brought a revolution to dentistry and increased use of zirconia. Among the various factors, shade and translucency or the core can significantly affect the overall esthetics of the restoration and should be considered when selecting an all-ceramic system. Purpose : The purpose of this study was to spectrophotometrically evaluate the influence of different zirconia systems and core thickness on the final shade of all-ceramic restorations using the CIEL$^*a^*b^*$ system. Material and Methods: Core specimens (n : 20 per group) of In-Ceram Alumina, In-Ceram Zirconia, Digident CAD/CAM Zirconia, Cercon Zirconia were fabricated 20mm in diameter. 10 specimens of each group were fabricated at core thickness of 0.5mm and 0.7mm. These core specimens were veneered with shade Al & A3 porcelain of the recommended manufacturer. CIEL$^*a^*b^*$ coordinates were recorded for each specimen with a spectrophotometer (Model CM-2600d, Minolta, Japan). Color differences were calculated using the equation ${\Delta}E^*=[({\Delta}L^*)^2+({\Delta}a^*)^2+({\Delta}b^*)^2]^{\frac{1}{2}}$. Results : 1. Specimens of core thickness 0.5mm and 0.7mm did not exhibit clinically perceived color difference. 2. Regarding shade reproducibility, In-Ceram Alumina and In-Ceram Zirconia showed significant difference within each group. 3. Cercon Zirconia group showed the highest $L^*$ value and Digident Zirconia group showed lowest $a^*$ & $b^*$ value. 4. Generally the shade difference between materials was higher in the A3 shade group than in the Al shade group. Conclusion: Within the limitations of this study, there was no color difference after increase in core thickness and every all-ceramic system has color characteristics that clinicians have to consider when selecting materials. Also, manufacturers of different porcelain systems must make every effort to achieve color reproducibility.

  • An electromechanical type is the most useful mechanism in the various pumping mechanisms. It, however, requires a movement converting system including a ball screw, a helical cam, or a solenoid-beam spring, which makes the device complex and may lessen reliability. Thus, the authors have hypothesized that an electromagnetic actuator mechanism can eliminate the movement converting system and that thereby enhance the mechanical reliability and operative simplicity of an electropneumatic pump. The purpose of this study was to show a novel application of electromagnetic actuator mechanism in pulsatile pump and to provide preliminary data for further evaluations. The electromagnetic actuator consists of stators with a single winding excitation coil and movers with a high energy density neodymium-iron-boron permanent magnet. A 0.5mm diameter wire was used for the excitation coil, and 1000 turns were wound onto the stators core with parallel. A prototype of extracorporeal electro-pneumatic pump was constructed, and the pump performance tests were performed using a mock system to evaluate the efficiency of the electromagnetic actuator mechanism. When forward and backward electric currents were supplied to the excitation coil, the mover effectively moved back and forth. The nominal stroke length of the actuator was 10mm. The actuator dimension was 120mm in diameter and 65mm in height with a mass of 1.4kg. The prototype pump unit was 150mm in diameter, 150mm in thickness and 4.5kg in weight. The maximum force output was 70N at input current of 4.5A and the maximum pump rate was 150 beats per minute. The maximum output was 2.0 L/minute at a rate of 80bpm when the afterload was 100mmHg. The electromagnetic actuator mechanism was successfully applied to construct the prototype of extracorporeal electropneumatic pump. The authors provide the above results as a preliminary data for further studies.

  • The ultimate record management's purpose is preservation and utilization. However, the National Archives of Korea (NAK)s Portal has problems such as search system aging and search tools dualization. As a result, the users' search satisfaction is not satisfied, and the improvement demand increases. This study aimed to evaluate the NAK's search quality as a preliminary study for NAK search system advancement. To this end, we analyzed the current status of CAMS and NAK's Portal. Then, we established the test sets and evaluated the NAK's Portal quality from the user's point of view. Evaluation results were analyzed using Precision, Recall, F-score, and MRR. The analysis results showed that the overall search performance was low, particularly in the "advanced subject search," which showed low performance in Precision, Recall, and MRR. Thus, improvement is urgently needed. The test sets established for this study are expected to be used as a basis for objectively measuring the improvement of the search performance after the NAK search system advancement.

  • When restoring with a dental digital system for implant-supported prosthesis, a double digital scanning technique is required: an intraoral scan of the three-dimensional implant location and intraoral scan after placement of temporary denture or provisional prosthesis. During the intraoral scan, the use of scan body as a stable landmark can improve the accuracy of digital impression and simplify laboratory process. In this case, a full-digital system was used to plan and fabricate a custom abutment, provisional prosthesis, and definitive prosthesis. After implant placement, the scan area of the intraoral scan body connected with implant and the intraoral scan body marked on the inside of temporary denture were superimposed. Out of the superimposed files, a custom abutment and provisional prosthesis were fabricated which match the vertical dimension of temporary denture, and definitive prosthesis was fabricated based on provisional prosthesis. We report this case because result has been functionally and esthetically satisfactory by using vertical dimension and central relation set during the fabrication of temporary denture to the definitive prosthesis.

  • Porcelain is the first ceramic material to be introduced into dentistry. Porcelain jacket crown was introduced by Dr. Charles H Land in 1886, which was an excellent aesthetic dental restoration but has not been widely used due to high firing shrinkage and low tensile strength. Then metal-ceramic system, which combines the esthetic properties of ceramics and the mechanical properties of metals, was introduced and nowadays it is still used in dental clinical field. However, the metal-ceramic system has shown some problems, such as increased lightness by reflection of light at opaque layer, shadow beneath the gingival line due to the block-out of light by metal coping, exposure of metal in margin part, bond failure between metal and porcelain, oxidation of metal coping during firing the porcelain, etc. Recently, along with the advance of fabrication methods of dental ceramics, the all-ceramic restorations with high esthetic and mechanical properties has increased and gradually replaced metal-ceramic restorations. Especially, CAD/CAM technology has opened a new era in fabricating the dental ceramic restorations. This overview will take a look at the past, present and future possibility of the dental ceramic materials.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to fabricate the new zirconia block (CNU block) and to evaluate fit of core and porcelain veneered zirconia crown. Material and methods: The experimental blocks were fabricated from the commercial ytrria-stabilized zirconia powder (KZ-3YE Type A). The powder was uniaxial pressing and the green bodies were conducted using the Cold Isostatic Pressing. The zirconia blocks were presintered at $1040^{\circ}C$ and the final sintering was performed at $1450^{\circ}C$. The Kavo Everest ZS $blank{(R)}$ (KaVo, Biberach/ $Ri{\beta}$.) was used as a control group. The linear shrinkage of CNU block and Kavo block were compared. Twenty-one cores for porcelain veneered crowns were fabricated with CAD/CAM system ($Everest{(R)}$, Biberach/ $Ri{\beta}$.). Group I; seven cores fabricated from Kavo blocks, Group II; seven cores fabricated from CNU blocks, Group III; seven cores from CNU blocks and porcelain veneering for crowns. All specimens were cemented and sectioned into two planes; diagonal and bucco-lingual. The measurement of the marginal, internal, and occlusal fit was carried out using SEM ($S-4800^{(R)}$) at $30{\times}$. The results were analyzed by one-way ANOVA test. Results: The linear shrinkage of the CNU block and the KaVo block was 19.00% and 20.09%. The marginal gap of cores ($29.67{\pm}6.58{\mu}m$) fabricated from CNU blocks showed significantly smaller than that of the cores of Kavo blocks ($36.84{\pm}7.18{\mu}m$) (P < .05). The internal gaps of the porcelain veneered crowns ($32.23{\pm}6.33{\mu}m$) were larger than those of the other two groups ($37.57{\pm}6.81{\mu}m$ and $38.14{\pm}6.81{\mu}m$). Conclusion: No statistically significant difference was found in between experimental groups and control group. The experimental groups in marginal gap showed significantly smaller than the control group.
