A Study on the Structural Optimization for CAD/CAE Integration (CAD/CAE 통합을 위한 구조설계 최적화에 관한 연구)

  • In product development, CAD and CAE systems taking part in the design process were individually developed. Furthermore, in product development, different divisions and businesses often have heterogeneous CAD/CAE systems and methods for expressing product data, and addressing this heterogeneity creates additional costs and causes longer development periods. To ensure successful collaboration in the design process, it is therefore imperative that different CAD, CAE, and other related systems be managed in an organic and integrated manner from the initial stages of product development. Therefore, this study suggests an integrated CAD/CAE system including optimization in a more effective and integrated manner but also to support interfacing and the collective use of design and analysis tools. To validate the proposed method, a stiffened plate example is taken as an example. It is found that the proposed method could overcome the bottleneck of CAD and CAE such as transferability of data, though CATIA and ANSYS are used at the moment. Besides, carrying out an optimization process during the CAE process is another essential parts for the structural optimization process.

  • Computer-aided engineering (CAE) is the broad usage of computer software to aid in engineering tasks. It includes computer-aided design (CAD), computer-aided analysis (CAA), computer-integrated manufacturing (CIM), computer-aided manufacturing (CAM), material requirements planning (MRP), and computer-aided planning (CAP). In this study, the stress of mold analyzed using CAE technique. Punch loads were same difference between 0.5 % and 1.0 % of clearance, but punch load was decreased according to increasing of clearance. Punch load of pre-piercing process worked a little smaller than piercing process. Therefore, the hole of fine blanking process is also more efficient to manufacture the true size after pre-piercing.

  • Battery cases have been made of polypropylene and its warpage is relatively large due to the crystalline characteristic of polypropylene. In this study, the battery case when the injection mold used to improve the Gate by simplifying the process of production cost savings and focus on improving the quality of molding CAE analysis was carried out. The result could be produced in plastic and products of the imbalance in the flow and deformation and to predict reliability of the product will contribute to reduced scrap.

  • To enhance the CAE accuracy, the definition of material behavior is one of key influence on the result. In case of plastic material with fiber reinforcement, the anisotropic material behavior should be taken into account to increase of CAE accuracy. BASF has developed an innovative CAE tool, ULTRASIM$^R$, which is capable of generating material models of thermoplastic materials for structural simulation. ULTRASIM$^R$, not only the glass fiber orientation effect, but also the weld line effect, tensile-compression anisotropy, strain rate effect are combined in a non-linear material law, which will be evaluated in a unique failure criterion, thus resulting in an highly accurate CAE approach.

  • Generally, when the injection molds are made in advanced nations, the improvement of a quality and production rate is obtained by using CAE. In this paper, the methodology which is possible to reduce the cycle time of injection molding process is studies by using the cooling analysis with CAE(Moldmax). In case of changing the cooling system design with the analysis result of CAE, the manimum reduction of the cycle time runs into 30 percent. Finally, the average reduction of the cycle time is 17.8 percent.

Among them, for realizing alternative light weight It is a part of the automobile module system that has achieved the technological development before the breakthrough in the injection molding process in the press process. Door module PNL was the subject of research. The door module PNL is expected to cause warpage before the mold production due to the thin and flat product characteristics and fiber orientation characteristic of the material. In this paper, CAE analysis and reverse correction tool Design. CAE analysis to obtain the results of weld line position, bending position and deformation value Through the correction tool, think3, the original product was modified before the mold production to improve the completeness of the parts. In fiber orientation, the position and size of the cooling channel in the mold, the position and size of the gate, Temperature, pressure, time, and work environment. Compared with the result of CAE analysis, the product that was reverse-corrected by Think3 was manufactured, and injection molding was performed. Injection molding products were tested 24 hours later. 3.5 mm to 7.0 mm, and under the fixed condition, the deviation was from 1.1 mm to 1.5 mm. Reduction of Birefringence and Weld-Line using Over-Flow in Injection Compression Molding for Optic Lens (광학렌즈의 사출압축성형에서 오버플로우를 이용한 웰드라인과 복굴절 저감)

  • This study has focused on the weld-line and birefringence reduction of a plastic optic lens using over and CAE analysis in injection compression molding. A concave lens, which has a thin thickness in the center and a large difference in thickness between the center and the periphery, often causes weld-line defects during injection molding. CAE analysis has been applied to optimize the overflow design in order to reduce the weld-line defects and the polarization defects. To reduce the weld line and birefringence defects, overflow design and application using CAE analysis show that the measured birefringence values of the specimens before the overflow application were 46.8nm and 36.9nm, and the values after the over-flow application were 13.6nm and 14.0nm. From the experimental results, it is confirmed that birefringence is greatly improved when overflow is applied.
