Recently, zirconia is widely used in the field of dental ceramics thanks to the proliferation of CAD/CAM systems. Accordingly, different types of zirconia block are being solid in the market. However, there are no precise, objective standards for properties of zirconia. This study concerns the flexural strength of zirconia ceramic for CAD/CAM block. The test specimens used for this study were ZirBlank(Acucera), ZirBlank shade(Acucera), VITA, Cercon(Densply) and Cerasys. The test results suggest that ZirBlank shade block shows the highest flexural strength and density among the zirconia blocks tested. Its flexural strength was $971{\pm}58MPa$ and its density was 99.89%. On the other hand, Cerasys block shows the lowest flexural strength of $576{\pm}36MPa$ and the lowest density of 94.85%. Given all, the density of the specimens is found to be directly proportional to strength and inversely to grain size.

Objectives: The aim of this study was to investigate the microshear bond strength (${\mu}SBS$) of different universal adhesive systems applied to hybrid computer-aided design/computer-aided manufacturing (CAD-CAM) restorative materials repaired with a composite resin. Materials and Methods: Four types of CAD-CAM hybrid block materials-Lava Ultimate (LA), Vita Enamic (VE), CeraSmart (CS), and Shofu Block HC (SH)-were used in this study, in combination with the following four adhesive protocols: 1) control: porcelain primer + total etch adhesive (CO), 2) Single Bond Universal (SB), 3) All Bond Universal (AB), and 4) Clearfil Universal Bond (CU). The ${\mu}SBS$ of the composite resin (Clearfil Majesty Esthetic) was measured and the data were analyzed using two-way analysis of variance and the Tukey test, with the level of significance set at p < 0.05. Results: The CAD-CAM block type and block-adhesive combination had significant effects on the bond strength values (p < 0.05). Significant differences were found between the following pairs of groups: VE/CO and VE/AB, CS/CO and CS/AB, VE/CU and CS/CU, and VE/AB and CS/AB (p < 0.05). Conclusions: The ${\mu}SBS$ values were affected by hybrid block type. All tested universal adhesive treatments can be used as an alternative to the control treatment for repair, except the AB system on VE blocks (the VE/AB group). The ${\mu}SBS$ values showed variation across different adhesive treatments on different hybrid CAD-CAM block types.
PURPOSE. To evaluate the effect of surface treatments and repair materials on the shear bond strength and to measure the fracture toughness of CAD/CAM provisional restoration materials. MATERIALS AND METHODS. Four CAD/CAM (3D printing: Nextdent C&B and ZMD-1000B Temporary, CAD/CAM resin block: Yamahachi PMMA disk and Huge PMMA block) and four conventional (monometacrylate: Jet and Alike, dimetacrylate: Luxatemp and Protemp 4) materials were selected to fabricate disk-shaped specimens and divided into six groups according to surface treatment (n=10). CAD/CAM materials were repaired with Jet or Luxatemp, while conventional materials were repaired with their own materials. The shear bond strength was measured by using universal testing machine. Ten rectangular column-shaped specimens for each material were fabricated to measure the fracture toughness by single edge v notched beam technique. Statistical analysis was performed by one-way ANOVA. RESULTS. The highest shear bond strength of CAD/CAM materials was achieved by SiC paper + sandblasting. It was also accomplished when repairing 3D printing materials with Luxatemp, and repairing CAD/CAM resin blocks with Jet. Yamahachi PMMA disk showed the highest fracture toughness. Nextdent C&B showed the lowest fracture toughness value but no statistically significant difference from Alike and Luxatemp (P>.05). CONCLUSION. In order to successfully repair the CAD/CAM provisional restoration, mechanical surface treatment and appropriate repair material according to the CAD/CAM material type should be selected. The CAD/CAM provisional materials have proper mechanical properties for clinical use as compared to conventional materials.
Purpose: Automatic dental prosthesis manufacturing process was accelerated by the spread of dental CAD / CAM system. The CAD / CAM system with milling alloys were needed supplement. So, sintered alloy blocks were introduced. In this study, we want to study sintered alloy block. And to evaluate the alloy block manufacture and alloy properties. Methods: The alloy powders were prepared by high pressure water dispersion method. The sintered alloy blocks were prepared by low temperature pressing method. Their components observation were EDX, and the alloy structure was observed by XRD. Results: Co-Cr alloy powders were observed to have a circle shape with an average diameter of about $100{\mu}m$ and a Ni-Cr alloy powder had a circle shape with an average diameter of about $50{\mu}m$. The Co-Cr alloy block is composed of Co (34.62 wt%), Cr (17.33 wt%), Mo (2.98 wt%), Si (0.36 wt%) and C (44.17 wt%). The Ni-Cr alloy powder was composed of Ni (40.29 wt%), Cr (19.37 wt%), Mo (3.53 wt%), Si (0.52 wt%) and C (33.18 wt%). The peak of the Co and CoCr peaks were observed in the CoCr alloy body by the means of XRD study. Cr2Ni3 of the peak was observed in the Ni-Cr alloy material. Conclusion : As a result, the following conclusions were obtained. 1. Prepared by high-pressure water-law Co-Cr alloy powder has an average diameter $100{\mu}m$, Ni-Cr alloy powder was found to have the form of sphere having an average diameter $50{\mu}m$. 2. Co-Cr alloy and Ni-Cr alloy block produced by low-temperature processing showed a certain ratio. 3. In the XRD study, Co phase appeared in Co-Cr alloy block after sintering. and Cr2Ni3 phase appeared in Ni-Cr alloy block after sintering.
PURPOSE. To evaluate the effect of prolonged sandblasting on the bond durability of dual-cure adhesive resin cement to computer-aided design and computer-aided manufacturing (CAD/CAM) restoratives. MATERIALS AND METHODS. Nano-ceramic LAVA Ultimate and hybrid-ceramic VITA Enamic CAD/CAM blocks were used for this study. Each CAD/CAM block was sectioned into slabs of 4-mm thickness for the microtensile test (${\mu}TBS$) test and 2-mm thickness for the surface roughness test. Three groups were created according to the sandblasting protocols; group 1: specimens were sandblasted for 15 seconds, group 2: specimens were sandblasted for 30 seconds, and group 3: specimens were sandblasted for 60 seconds. After sandblasting, all specimens were luted using RelyX Ultimate Clicker. Half the specimens were subjected to ${\mu}TBS$ tests at 24 hours, and the other half were subjected to tests after 5000 thermocycles. Additionally, a total of 96 CAD/CAM block sections were prepared for surface roughness tests and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) evaluations. The Mann-Whitney U test, Kruskal-Wallis one-way analysis of variance, and Dunn's post hoc test were used to compare continuous variables among the groups. RESULTS. At baseline, group 1, group 2, and group 3 exhibited statistically similar ${\mu}TBS$ results for LAVA. However, group 3 had significantly lower ${\mu}TBS$ values than groups 1 and 2 for VITA. After 5000 thermocycles, ${\mu}TBS$ values significantly decreased for each block (P<.05). CONCLUSION. It is important to perform controlled sandblasting because it may affect bond strength results. Sixty seconds of sandblasting disturbs the initial ${\mu}TBS$ values and the stability of adhesion of CAD/CAM restoratives to dual-cure adhesive resin cement for VITA Enamic.
The development of dental materials has widened the scope of materials by changes in processing methods. CAD/CAM processing enables the use of zirconia as a dental material. Recent esthetic materials development has been made. For aesthetic purposes, a block for CAD/CAM processing by mixing polymer and ceramic materials are fabricated. However there is no guideline of how these materials should be used in actual clinical practice. Mechanical properties, wear and clinical studies were reviewed.
With the advancement of Computer-Aided Design/Computer-Aided Manufacturing (CAD-CAM) technology, fabrication of dentures using this technology has gained popularity. As one of CAD-CAM technologies, digital complete denture system has been introduced, which fabricates complete dentures using subtractive manufacturing of monolithic block containing both the color of a denture base and an artificial tooth. In this case, two pairs of upper and lower dentures were fabricated for two patients. Two pairs of complete dentures were fabricated for a 74-year-old male and a 73-year-old female respectively by conventional denture fabrication method and digital method of milling. To obtain a digital complete denture, monolithic block (Ivotion, Ivoclar Vivadent, Schaan, Liechtenstein) was chosen for the materials to fabricate the digital complete dentures. An individual tray was designed using CAD software and manufactured by 3D printing technique. The final impression and interocclusal relationship were recorded using the fabricated individual tray. The final impression was scanned, and the complete denture design and try-in denture were 3D printed using CAD-CAM software. Subsequently, the monolithic block was milled, and the final dentures were fabricated and tried on patients. Previously mentioned two patient cases compared and analyzed stability, fit, speaking, mastication, aesthetics, and patient satisfaction of two pairs of dentures: one fabricated using CAD-CAM system and the other using traditional methods. This was performed to evaluate and report the findings from both denture-making approaches.
