  • The capacity of the cell varies with the load of the home and neighboring cells. But most call admission control (CAC) algorithms do not consider the cell loading. In this paper a dynamic call admission control is proposed in a WCDMA system with traffic asymmetry. The proposed algorithm changes the CAC thresholds of new call and handoff call based on channel condition. The blocking and dropping probabilities can be controlled by adjusting these thresholds. The proposed algorithm guarantees the Qos of call class and priority between new call and handoff call. In addition, it can minimize the grade of service (GOS) value with the system throughput maintained.

  • This study is to investigate the possibility of using activated carbon prepared from Iraqi date-pits (ADP) which are produced from palm trees (Phoenix dactylifera L.) as low-cost reactive material in the permeable reactive barrier (PRB) for treating lead (Pb+2) from the contaminated groundwater, and then compare the results experimentally with other common reactive materials such as commercial activated carbon (CAC), zeolite pellets (ZP). Factors influencing sorption such as contact time, initial pH of the solution, sorbent dosage, agitation speed, and initial lead concentration has been studied. Two isotherm models were used for the description of sorption data (Langmuir and Freundlich). The maximum lead sorption capacities were measured for ADP, CAC, and ZP and were found to be 24.5, 12.125, and 4.45 mg/g, respectively. The kinetic data were analyzed using various kinetic models particularly pseudo-first-order, pseudo-second-order, and intraparticle diffusion. COMSOL Multiphysics 3.5a depend on finite element procedure was applied to formulate transmit of lead (Pb+2) in the two-dimensional numerical (2D) model under an equilibrium condition. The numerical solution shows that the contaminant plume is hindered by PRB.

  • The purpose of this study is development of technique to use cementitious powder as recycle cement produced from deteriorated Concrete waste which has a large quantity of calcium carbonate. Therefore, after having theoretical consideration based on the properties of hish-heated concrete and concerning about neutralization of Concrete, we analysis chemical properties of ingredients of cementitious powder After making origin cement paste, then processing the accelerated carbonation, we consider the properties of hydration and chemical properties of cementitious powder under various temperature conditions As a result of the thermal analysis, the CacO3 content of cementitious powder would affect decision of heat temperature to recover its hydrated ability because CacO3 content is increased when neutraliTation is preBlessed. And as a result of XRD analysis. in case of origin powder of non-neutralized paste, CaO peak is found at $700^{\circ}C$. but, heat temperature to generate CaO would increase when the content of neutralized ingredients is increased. Finally, recycle cement heated at $700^{\circ}C$ shows the best compressive strength when the content of neutralized ingredients in recycle cement is less then 50%. However, it would be quite difficult to manage quality of recycle cement according to recycling points of various concrete waste.

  • Heat pump systems for commercial building with variable refrigerant flow(VRF) are expanding a market due to high energy efficiency, lower maintenance cost and easy installation comparing with the conventional heat pump with the constant refrigerant flow. In general, heat pump systems degrade the energy efficiency in the extremely low temperature regions. In this study, VRF heat pump system with refrigerant heating is experimentally investigated to overcome the low heating performance in the extremely low temperature regions. VRF heat pump system with refrigerant heating is found out the sufficient heating performance in the -25 degree temperature condition comparing with the conventional heat pump system and is obtained more than 2,500 kPa high pressure in the evaporator at low temperature.

  • Impact experiments have been carried out on concrete slabs. The first group was traditionally manufactured, densely reinforced concrete targets, and the next were ordinary Portland and calcium aluminate cement based HPSFRC (High performance steel fiber reinforced concrete) and SIFCON (Slurry infiltrated concrete) targets. All specimens were hit by anti-armor tungsten projectiles at a muzzle velocity of over 4 Mach causing destructive perforation. In Part I of this article, production and experimental procedures are described. The first group of specimens were ordinary CEM I 42.5 R cement based targets including only dense reinforcement. In the second and third groups, specimens were produced using CEM I 42.5 R cement and Calcium Aluminate Cement (CAC40) with ordinary reinforcement and steel fibers 2 percent in volume. In the fourth group, SIFCON specimens including 12 percent of steel fibers without reinforcement were tested. A high-speed camera was used to capture impact and residual velocities of the projectile. Sample tests were performed to obtain mechanical properties of the materials. In the companion Part II of this study, numerical investigations and simulations performed will be presented. Few studies exist that examine high-velocity impact effects on CAC40 based HPSFRC targets, so this investigation gives an insight for comparison of their behavior with Portland cement based and SIFCON specimens.

  • This paper presents the design of a value-added ATM switch. The ATM switch ca perform CAC Processing and Firewall Processing Routine at packet-level (IP) at the ATM environment per port. The proposed two routine are integrated into the components of ATM switch. The Firewall switch employs a suggested two routine model to avoid or reduce the latency caused by filtering. Also, we suggest four classes are defined. namely, classes A, B, C, and D, which are orded from the safest to the most dangerous. The suggested model performance of ATM Firewall switch is estimated simulation in terms of the throught and latency by computer.

  • The object of ATM network is to the guarantee quality of service(QoS). Therefore, various of traffic management schemes have been proposed. Among these schemes, call admission control(CAC) is very important to provide real-time services and ON-OFF model, which is single source traffic model, has been used. But ON-OFF model differ from GCRA(Generic Cell Rate Algorithm) controlled traffic in ATM network. In this paper, we analyze the traffic, which is controlled as dual GCRA, and propose TWM(Three-state Worst-case Model), which is new single source traffic model. We also proposed CAC to guarantee peak-to-peak CDV(Cell Delay Variation) based on the TWM. In experiments, ON-OFF model and TWM are compared to show that TWM is superior to ON-Off model in terms of QoS guaranteeing.

  • Recently there is a growing interest in mobile cellular network providing multimedia service. However, the link bandwidth of mobile cellular network is not sufficient enough to provide satisfactory services to users. To overcome this problem, an adaptive framework has been proposed. In this study, we propose a new method of estimating DPR(Degradation Period Ratio) in an adaptive multimedia network where the bandwidth of ongoing call can be dynamically adjusted during its lifetime. DPR is a QoS(Quality of Service) parameter which represents the ratio of allocated bandwidth below a pre-defined target to the whole service time of a call. We improve estimation method of DPR using DTMC(Discrete Time Markov Chain) model by calculate mean degradation period, degradation probability more precisely than in existing studies. Under Threshold CAC(Call Admission Control) algorithm, we present analytically how to guarantee QoS to users and illustrate the method by numerical examples. The proposed method is expected to be used as one of CAC schemes in guaranteeing predefined QoS level of DPR.

  • We have presented the thermodynamic, structural and dynamic properties of liquid pentane isomers - normal pentane, isopentane, and neopentane - using an expanded collapsed atomic model. The thermodynamic properties show that the intermolecular interactions become weaker as the molecular shape becomes more nearly spherical and the surface area decreases with branching. The structural properties are well predicted from the site-site radial, the average end-to-end distance, and the root-mean-squared radius of gyration distribution func-tions. The dynamic properties are obtained from the time correlation functions - the mean square displacement (MSD), the velocity auto-correlation (VAC), the cosine (CAC), the stress (SAC), the pressure (PAC), and the heat flux auto-correlation (HFAC) functions - of liquid pentane isomers. Two self-diffusion coefficients of liquid pentane isomers calculated from the MSD's via the Einstein equation and the VAC's via the Green-Kubo relation show the same trend but do not coincide with the branching effect on self-diffusion. The rotational re-laxation time of liquid pentane isomers obtained from the CAC's decreases monotonously as branching increases. Two kinds of viscosities of liquid pentane isomers calculated from the SAC and PAC functions via the Green-Kubo relation have the same trend compared with the experimental results. The thermal conductivity calculated from the HFAC increases as branching increases.

  • Aggregation of hydrophobically end-capped poly(ethylene oxide)s: HEURs, denoted as $C_8$$EO_{380}$$C_8$, $C_12$$CO_{600}$$C_{12}$, and $C_{18}$$EO_{860}$$C_{18}$,are described using static fluorescence, dynamic light scattering, and atomic force microscope (AFM) techniques. The CAC (critical aggregation concentration) was determined by com-paring two fluorescent peaks which were influenced by the polarity of the probe dye molecules, pyrene. The aggregation occurs in concentrations higher than 10 g/L of $C_8$$EO_{380}$$C_8$ and the CAC decreases by increasing the side chain length. The dynamic light scattering experiment shows fast mode and slow mode decays, and both are diffusive. The fast mode does not depend on the concentration, but the slow mode shows concentration dependence influenced by the formation of an aggregated structure. The hydrophobic end groups effect more dominantly than the main chains for the formation of HEUR micelles. By increasing the concentration, the HEUR micelles change their structure from spheres to rodlike micelles, and finally make fused structures, which were visualized with atomic force microscopy.
