Structural Analysis of Multi-Functional Fishway in Seomoon Weir (서문보의 다기능 어도의 구조해석)

  • In this study, the field applicability of the recently constructed multifunctional fishway in Seomunbo, Yeongcheon-si, and Gyeongsangbuk-do were examined. The analysis variables were R/C slab (S1) and R/C+S/C slab (S2), the underground passage standard areas (width × length) were 1.4 m × 0.2 m, 1.4 m × 0.3 m, and 1.4 m × 0.6 m, and the flow velocities were 0.8, 1.2, and 1.6 m/s. As a result of the analysis, the safety of the design of Seomunbo was evaluated. The analysis showed compared to the Seomoon Weir fishway, the maximum stress of S2 decreased by 24 - 32%, the bending moment of the underground passage decreased by 16 - 33%, the maximum stress of the sidewall decreased by 20 - 36%. In addition, the bending moment of the upper slab decreased by 17 - 33%, the maximum stress of the upper slab decreased by 9 - 28%, and the bending moment decreased by 19 - 33%. Complementation was required in the following percentages: 18% and 14% for the maximum stress and bending moment of the underground passage, respectively, 15% and 17% for the maximum sidewall stress and bending moment, respectively, and 11% and 16% for the upper slab maximum stress and bending moment, respectively. The results showed that S2 was superior to that of the Seomoon Weir fishway, and the underground passage size of 1.4 m × 0.3 m was superior to those of 1.4 m × 0.2 m and 1.4 m × 0.6 m, and R/C+S/C slab was superior to that of R/C slab. The findings are expected to be useful for constructing and designing the multifunctional fishway.

Deposition of Alkali Metal Ions at Polypyrrole Film Electrodes Modified with Fullerene (플러렌으로 수식된 피를 고분자 피막전극에 알카리 금속이온의 포집)

  • To electropolymerize Polypyrrole(ppy) film modified with fullerene $ions(full^-)$ the cell, Au/5 mM pyrrole, 1mM fullerene, 0.1M $TBABF_4,\;CH_2Cl_2/Pt$, was employed to Prepare the wafer-like type of $electrode/ppy(full^-)ppy(full^-){\ldots}$ electrodes. They were applied to deposit alkali metal ions with the cell of Au(quartz crystal analyzer; QCA)/ppy$(full^-)$, 0.01M metal ion(aq.)/Pt. The depositing rate constant of each ion for $Li^+,\;Na^+,\;K^+,\;Rb^+\;and\;Cs^+$, determined from the first order equation was $1.60\times10^{-8},\;3.13\times10^{-11},\;1.38\times10^{-9},\;2.71\times10^{-11}\;and\;2.98\times10^{-12}mo1.s^{-1}$ respectively. The calculated stoichiometry of the ions determined by quartz crystal microbalance(QCM) at the electrodes was $Li_7C_{60},\;Na_4C_{60},\;K_3C_{60},\;Rb_1C_{60}\;and\;Cs_1C_{60}$ respectively.

Effect of SiC Dispersion of $\beta$-Sialon Prepared from Wando Pyrophylite (완도납석으로부터 제조한 $\beta$-Sialon에 대한 SiC의 복합화 효과)

  • $\beta$-Sialon powder was prepared by the reduction-nitridation reaction from the mixture of Wando Pyrophyllite and carbon black at 135$0^{\circ}C$ in $N_2$ atmosphere. $\beta$-SiC powder was added to the prepared $\beta$-Sialon powder to make $\beta$-Sialon-SiC composite. The $\beta$-Sialon-SiC composites were sintered pressurelessly at 175$0^{\circ}C$ for 2h, using $Y_2O_3$ and $ZrO_2$(monoclinic) as sintering aids. Comparatively higher values of the fracture toughness (3.8 MN/㎥/2), M.O.R. (470 MN/$m^2$) and vickers microhardness (13.7 MN/$m^2$) were obtained when 10 wt% $Y_2O_3$ was added as a sintering aid. The improved fracture toughness and M.O.R. are assumed to be the results of crack deflection and crack branching by the second phase SiC particles.

Effect of Monosodium Glutamate and Temperature Change on the Content of Free Amino Acids in Kimchi (Monosodium Glutamate와 숙성온도 변화가 김치의 유리아미노산 함량에 미치는 영향)

  • This study was conducted to investigate the effect of monosodium glutamate (MSG) and fermentation methods (C-I; fermented for 5 days at 1$0^{\circ}C$ after 2$0^{\circ}C$ fermentation for 2 days, C-II; fermented for 7 days at 1$0^{\circ}C$, M-I; kimchi with MSG fermented for 5 days at 1$0^{\circ}C$ after 2$0^{\circ}C$ fermentation for 2 days, M-II; kimchi with MSG fermented for 7 days at 1$0^{\circ}C$ on fermentation and free amino acid content. Fermentation of M-I and M-II was slightly delayed compared to C-I and C-II. Total microbe of C-I and C-IIwere lower than those of M-I and M-II, and lactic acid bacteria of C-I and C-II were lower than those of M-I and M-II respectively. The major free amino acids were alanine, asparagine, homocystine and valine in C-I, especially, glutamic acid and ornithine were high in C-II. Homocystine, alanine, asparagine and valine in M-I, glutamic acid, alanine, hydroxyproline, asparagine, homocystine, ornithine and valine were the major free amino acid in M-II, respectively. The sour taste of M-I and M-II was lower than those of C-I and C-II, respectively, and the effect of delaying fermentation at 1$0^{\circ}C$ did not showed in the C-I and M-I. The crispy taste of the M-I and M-II was higher than those of C-I and C-II, which was the opposite results of sour taste. Palatable and overall taste of M-I and M-II were higher than those of C-I and C-II, respectively These results suggest that the MSG in kimchi affect not only increment of free amino acid content but also shelf-life and taste improvement, and continuous fermentation at 1$0^{\circ}C$ also enhance the content of free amino acid and shelf-life of kimchi.

R-Curve Behavior and Mechanical Properties of Al2O3 Composites Containing SiC and TiC Particles (SiC와 TiC 입자를 함유하는 Al2O3 입자복합체의 균열저항거동과 기계적 성질)

  • Particulate composites of $Al_2O_3$/TiC/SiC, $Al_2O_3$/TiC and $Al_2O_3$/SiC have been fabricated by hot pressing and their R-curve behaviors and mechanical properties were investigated. $Al_2O_3$ containing 30 vol% TiC particles showed higher toughness by 8% than that for monolithic alumina and its fracture strength was increased significantly by approximately 30%. On the other hand, the addition of 30 vol% SiC of $3{\mu}m$ in $Al_2O_3$ decreased the fracture strength slightly but induced a rising R-curve behavior owing to the strong crack bridging of SiC particles. In case of $Al_2O_3$/TiC/SiC, arising R-curve behavior was also observed and the fracture toughness reached 6.6 MPa${\cdot}\sqrt{m}$ at the crack length of $1000{\mu}m$, which was lower than that of $Al_2O_3$/SiC, however, while the fracture strength was higher by about 20%. The fracture toughness seemed to be decreased as smaller TiC particles roughened the SiC interface and pullout of the SiC particles for crack bridging became less active.

  • To extend the knowledge of triple bonding between group 6 transition metal and heavier group 14 elements, the structural and bonding aspects of ($η^5-C_5H_5$)$(CO)_2$M≡ER (M = Cr, Mo, W; E = Si, Ge, Sn, Pb) are investigated by hybrid density functional calculations at the B3PW91 level. Substituent effects are also investigated with R = H, Me, $SiH_3$, Ph, $C_6H_3-2,6-Ph_2$, $C_6H_3-2,6-(C_6H_2-2,4,6-Me_3)_2$, and $C_6H_3-2,6-(C_6H_2-2,4,6- iPr_3)_2$.

Effect of M.A.P. and C.A. storage on quality of Mushrooms(Agaricus bisporus) during storage (양송이 버섯의 MAP및 CA저장 효과)

  • In order to study the effect of modified atmosphere packaging(M.A.P.) and controlled atmosphere(C. A.) storage on keeping freshness of mushrooms (Agricus-bisporus). Mushrooms was packaged with polyethylene(P.E.) film (40${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$, 60${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$, 80${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$) and C.A. conditions(CO2 concentration of 2%, O2 concentration of 2%) and storage at 0$\pm$1$^{\circ}C$, RH(relative hummidity) 92$\pm$1%. Gas composition in film was changed rapidly at early of storage, but it kept a constant level after 14 days of storage, and then kept at the level of 6~9% CO2 and 2~5% O2. Weight loss was 5% in non-packed mushrooms after 3 days of storage, but P.E. film, CO2 treated, C.A. conditions were 5% after 21 days of storage. Flesh firmness of the mushrooms was continuously decreased throughout storage period and the lowest of flesh firmness changed was 80${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$-P.E. film packing. Discoloration of the piteous of mushrooms appears to be the most Important factors to determine its marketability, L value of it appears to be of the high values at P.E. film packing and C.A. conditions during period. Large amount of ethanol and acetaldehyde were produced from the 7 days during storage, large contents of mannitol and trehalose were at the 14 days and 7 days during storage.

Characteristics of Parathion Hydrolase by Pseudomonas rhodesiae H5 (Pseudomonas rhodesiae H5가 생산하는 Parathion Hydrolase의 특성)

  • The parathion hydrolase (OPH) produced by Pseudomonas rhodesiae H5 was purified by ammonium sulfate precipitation, DEAE-Toyopearl 650M ion exchange chromatography and Sephadex gel filtration chromatography. Parathion hydrolase from crude extracts of P. rhodesiae H5 has two components designated as OPH $I_1$ and OPH $I_2$, Optimum pH and temperature of OPH $I_1$and OPH $I_2$ were pH 7.2 and $30^{\circ}C$, and pH 7.6 and $37^{\circ}C$, respectively. The activation energy of OPH $I_1$ for the hydrolysis of parathion was 3.01 ㎉/I, II, III in the temperature range of $4^{\circ}C$ to $30^{\circ}C$, and Michaelis constant ($K_m$) for parathion was 69.2 ${\mu}M$. The activation energy of OPH $I_2$ for the hydrolysis of parathion was 4.07㎉/㏖ in the temperature range of $4^{\circ}C$ to $37^{\circ}C$, and Michaelis constant for parathion was 150.9${\mu}M$. Furthermore OPH $I_1$ was completely inhibited by 1 mM $Ca^2+$, $Cu^2+$, $Mg^2+$, $Ni^2+$, but OPH $I_2$ was less inhibited than OPH $I_1$ by the metals used in this study.

강릉연안 토종 다시마의 양식 연구

  • 동해안의 강릉 연안에 자생하는 토종 다시마인 개다시마는 산업적으로 개발의 여지가 매우 크다. 그러나 천연 자원량에 의존하고 있는 가공산업은 해황에 따라 원료 공급이 좌우되는 불안정성을 가지고 있어서 이 식물의 산업적 생산량을 확보하기 위한 방안으로 대량양식의 필요성이 대두되고 있다. 본 연구는 동해안 토종 다시마인 개다시마의 종묘생산기술 개발을 위해서 항온배양기와 실내수조배양을 실시하고 바다 가이식 양성에 의한 환경적응성 실험을 수행하였다. 연구 방법은 2001년 10월에 강릉연안 수심 20m에서 분포하는 개다시마 군락의 모조로부터 유주자액을 받아 온도 5, 10, 15, 20, $25^{\circ}C$, 조도 40, 80, 120 $\mu$mol m$^{-2}$ s$^{-1}$의 조건에서 6주간 정치배양하였다. 유주자의 발아 및 아포체 생장 실험 이후 바다 가이식 및 양성실험은 2002년 1~2월까지 1개월간 실시하였다. 유주자의 발아 및 아포체 형성은 1$0^{\circ}C$, 120$\mu$mo1 m$^{-2}$ s$^{-1}$에서 배양 2주만에 가장 먼저 아포체의 발아가 관찰되었으며, 이후 15$^{\circ}C$와 5$^{\circ}C$에서 순차적으로 아포체의 발아가 이루어졌다. 2$0^{\circ}C$는 80, 120$\mu$mol m$^{-2}$ s$^{-1}$에서 소수의 아포체만이 관찰되었으며, $25^{\circ}C$에서는 아포체가 형성되지 않았다. 아포체는 1$0^{\circ}C$에서 가장 좋은 생장을 보였고, 15$^{\circ}C$와 1$0^{\circ}C$에서는 비슷한 생장을 나타냈으며, 2$0^{\circ}C$에서는 80$\mu$mol m$^{-2}$ s$^{-1}$에서만 아포체의 형성이 관찰되어 가장 낮은 생장을 보였다. 동일 온도에서는 조도에 따른 생장의 차이가 많이 났는데, 40$\mu$mol m$^{-2}$ s$^{-1}$에서 가장 좋은 생장을 나타냈다. 80과 120$\mu$mol m$^{-2}$ s$^{-1}$에서는 120$\mu$mol m$^{-2}$ s$^{-1}$이 약간 좋은 생장을 보였지만 큰 차이는 나지 않았다. 생장이 가장 좋은 조건은 1$0^{\circ}C$, 40$\mu$mol m$^{-2}$ s$^{-1}$으로 엽장 1.28mm까지 생장했다. 전체적으로 수심이 깊은 곳에 서식하는 특성상 저수온과 저조도에서 좋은 생장 경향을 보였다. 실내배양을 통해 얻은 엽장 약 1~2mm의 종묘를 2002년 1월말에 삼척 호산에 위치한 바다 양성장에서 종묘들과 함께 2주간 수심별로 가이식(수온 12$^{\circ}C$)을 실시한 결과, 수심 1m에서 좋게 나타나 엽장이 약 5mm정도 생장하였다. 수심 0m에서는 강한 조도에 의해 엽상체가 사그라드는 기형이 나타났으며, 수심 5m에서는 엽상체의 기형이나 생장의 차이는 없었지만, 색택이 약간 바랜 것을 볼 수 있었다. 종합적으로 볼 때 종묘의 관리나 생장에는 수심 1~2m가 양호할 것으로 생각된다. 바다 가이식을 통해 엽장 5mm의 종묘로 생장시킨 후 바로 본양성장에 씨줄감기를 하여 양성을 실시하였다 양성 1개월 후 엽상체는 약 2~3cm, 최대 4~5cm까지 생장하였다. 이를 통해 강릉연안 토종 다시마인 개다시마에 대한 종묘 생산과 대량 양성의 가능성을 확인하였다.

An Investigation on the Magnetic Properties of Melt-Spun Fe-Pr-C Alloys (Melt-Spun Fe-Pr-C 합금의 자기적 특성 조사)

  • Change in phases, microstructures, and magnetic properties by the variation of quench rate and heat treatment were investigated for melt-spun $Fe_{77}Pr_{15}C_8$ ribbons. The amorphization of as-spun ribbons increased as the quench rate increased. As a result, the ribbon quenched at 40 m/s was almost entirely amorphous. Similarly to cast alloys, the primary phase in crystalline ribbons quenched at 10 m/s was $\alpha$-Fe followed by the secondary $Fe_{17}Pr_2C_x$. Crystalline phases were still dominant in the ribbon spun at 20 m/s, but in this case crystallization of $Fe_{17}Pr_2C_x$ was remarkable with a little suppression of $\alpha$-Fe. At 30 m/s an amorphous phase obviously dominated in the as-spun ribbons with small fraction of crystals. Therefore, substantial amount of hard magnetic $Fe_{14}Pr_2C$ was not obtained from the as-spun state but, as in cast alloys, produced only by a solid-state transformation. Within a few minutes fine grains of $Fe_{14}Pr_2C$ were easily obtained at relatively low temperature when the degree of amorphization of as-spun ribbons was higher. The grain size of $Fe_{14}Pr_2C$ was well less than 1${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$. The ribbons quenched at 20 or 30 m/s yielded higher coercivities after heat treatment.
