Assessment of the Usefulness of an IMRT Plan Using a Shell-Type Pseudo Target with Patients in Stage III or IV of NSCLC (비소세포폐암 III, IV기 환자에 있어서 Shell-Type Pseudo Target을 이용한 세기 조절 방사선치료계획기법의 유용성 평가)

  • Purpose: The objective of this study was to investigate the usefulness of an IMRT treatment plan according to whether there was a shell-type pseudo target during radiation therapy for patients in Stage III or IV of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Materials and Methods: After setting an IMRT (Intensity-Modulated Radiation Therapy, IMRT) plan for when there was a shell-type pseudo target (SPT) and when there was none (WSPT) with 22 patients in Stage III or IV of NSCLC, the investigator analyzed dose-volume histograms (DVHs) and made assessment with dosimetric comparisons such as homogeneity index (HI) inside the tumor target, conformity index (CI) of the tumor target, spinal cord maximum dose, Esophagus $V_{50%}$, mean lung dose (MLD), and $V_{40%}$, $V_{30%}$, $V_{20%}$, $V_{10%}$, $V_{5%}$. Results: The mean CI of WSPT and SPT was $1.22{\pm}0.04$ and $1.16{\pm}0.032$ ($.000^*$), respectively, and the mean HI of WSPT and SPT was $1.06{\pm}0.015$ and $1.07{\pm}0.014$ ($.000^*$), respectively. In SPT, the mean of each CI difference decreased by $-5.16{\pm}2.54%$, while HI increased by average $0.81{\pm}0.47%$. Esophagus $V_{50%}$ recorded $14.54{\pm}12.01%$ (WSPT) and $12.14{\pm}11.09%$ ($.000^*$, SPT) with the mean of SPT differences dropping by $-26.37{\pm}25.05%$. Mean spinal cord maximum dose was $3,898.44{\pm}1,075.0$ cGy (WSPT) and $3,810.8{\pm}1,134.9$ cGy ($.004^*$, SPT) with SPT dropping by average $-3.36{\pm}5.81%$. As for lung $V_{X%}$, the mean of $V_{5%}$ and $V_{10%}$ differences was $-1.62{\pm}2.29%$ ($.006^*$) and $-1.98{\pm}5.02%$ ($.005^*$), respectively with SPT making a decrease. The mean of V20%, V30%, and V40% differences was $-3.51{\pm}3.07%$ ($.000^*$), $-4.84{\pm}6.01%$ ($.000^*$), and $-6.16{\pm}8.46%$ ($.001^*$), respectively, with SPT making a decrease with statistical significance. In MLD assessment, SPT also dropped by average $-2.83{\pm}2.41%$ ($.000^*$). Those results show that SPT allows for mean 169 cGy (Max: 547 cGy, Min: 6.4 cGy) prescription dose. Conclusion: An IMRT treatment plan with SPT during radiation therapy for patients in Stage III or IV of NSCLC will help to reduce the risk of lung toxicity and radiation-induced pneumonia by cutting down radiation doses entering the normal lung, reduce the local control failure rate during radiation therapy due to increasing prescription doses to a certain degree, and increase treatment effects.

  • Two possible space groups of the comfound, VP6N3018C24H:60, are: P 1, a=14.022(1), b=12.644(2), c= 12.640(1)A, a=8038(1), B=102.12(1), r=102.16(1), V=2124.1A3, Z=2, μ=0.47cm-1, d=1.46g/cm3, R=0.083 for 3350 independent reflections with Fo>4o IFI, and C2/c, a=19.32(2), b=16.32(2), c=14.02(1)A, B=105.98(5), β=105.98(5), V=4248.2A3, Z=4 R=0.083 for 1590 independent reflections with Fo>4c IFoI . In the space group P T, there are two monlecules in a unit cell. Vanadium atoms in the two monlecules occupy the two different special positions such that the complete monlecules are accomplished by the two independent center of symmetry. Therefore two different half molecules of bis(trimetaphosphate)vanadate and three molecules of tetraethylammonium are the asymmetric unit in a unit cell. In the space group C2/c, however, the vanadium atom is located at a special position with centrosymmetry, and a two-fold symmetry axis passes through C2/c, N2 and C25 atoms. Therefore the asymmrtic unit in a unit cell consists of a half molecule of bis(trimetaphosphate)vanadate and one and a half molecules of tetraethylammonium. All the molecular conformations in both space groups are very similar: six oxygen atoms coordinated to a vanadium atom in the bi s(trimetaphosphate)vanadate molecule form an octahedron and the four carbon atoms bonded to a nitrogen atom in the tetraethylammonium molecule are disordered so that the eight carbon atoms around nitrogen atom exhibit an irregular dodecahedral form.

Characterization of Hot Deformation Behavior of Ti-6Al-4V Alloy (Ti-6Al-4V 합금의 고온변형거동 규명)

  • Compression tests were carried out to investigate the hot-deformation behavior of Ti-6Al-4V alloy in the temperature range of $915^{\circ}C$ to $1015^{\circ}C$ and the strain rate range of $10^{-3}s^{-i}$ to $10s^{-1}$. Under the given test conditions, the hot-deformation of Ti-6Al-4V alloy was mainly led by dynamic recovery rather than by dynamic recrystallization. The activation energy for the plastic deformation in $\alpha+\beta$ field was about 894 kJ/mol and $\beta$ field was 332kJ/mo1. Processing map for hot working are developed on the basis of the variations of efficiency of power dissipation($\eta$=2m/m+1) and flow instability criterion using the dynamic material model. The optimum process condition in the ($\alpha+\beta$) field was obtained at the temperature ranges of $930^{\circ}C$ to $955^{\circ}C$$^{\circ}C$ and a strain rate of $10^{-3}s{-1}$.

Effects of Herbal Bath on Functional Recovery and c-Fos Expression in the Ventrolateral Periaqueductal Gray Region of the Brain after Sciatic Crushed-Nerve Injury in Rats

  • Peripheral nerve injuries are a commonly encountered clinical problem and often result in chronic pain and severe functional deficits. At the Dept. of Oriental Rehab. Medicine, we have used for pain control a herbal bath containing the following herbs: Harpagophytum radix, Atractylodes japonica and Corydalis tuber. In the present study, we investigated the effects of this herbal bath on the recovery rate of the locomotor function and the expression of c-Fos in the ventrolateral periaqueductal gray (vIPAG) region of the brain following sciatic crushed nerve injury in rats. In the present study, characteristic gait change with decreasing of the sciatic function index (SFI) was observed and c-Fos expression in the vIPAG was suppressed following sciatic crushed nerve injury in rats. Immersion into herbal bath enhanced SFI value and restored c-Fos expression in the vIPAG to the control value. These results suggest the herbal bath might activate neurons in the vIPAG, and could facilitate functional recovery from peripheral nerve injury.

  • Metal-oxide-silicon-on-insulator (MOSOI) structures were fabricated to study the effect caused by reactive ion etching (RIE) and sacrificial oxidation process on silicon-on-insulator (SOI) layer. The MOSOI capacitors with an etch-damaged SOI layer were characterized by capacitance-voltage (C-V) measurements and compared to the sacrificial oxidation treated samples and the reference samples without etching treatment. The measured C-V curves were compared to the numerical results from 2-dimensional (2-D) simulations. The measurements revealed that the profile of C-V curves significantly changes depending on the SOI surface condition of the MOSOI capacitors. The shift in the measured C-V curves, due to the difference of the fixed oxide charge ($Q_f$), together with the numerical simulation analysis and atomic force microscopy (AFM) analysis, allowed extracting the fixed oxide charges ($Q_f$) in the structures as well as 2-D carrier distribution profiles.

  • This paper investigates the time-dependent crack growth in X20CrMoV 12 1 steel weld joints. Crack growth test are carried out $545^{\circ}C$ on side-grooved 1/2T CT specimens under static loads. A simulated material is produced for the intercritical HAZ, where fracture normally occurs. Constitutive properties are obtained for the simulated HAZ material as well as for the base metal and weld metal. Finite element analyses of crack growth are performed on the models with and without a HAZ layer, using the experimental crack length-time history. The inclusion of HAZ layer increase the load line velocities significantly. The crack growth rates are correlated reasonably well with $C^*$. The smallest crack size for the validity of $C^*$ is found much smaller than the ASTM crack initiation size for 1T CT specimen of creep ductile materials.

  • The primary purpose of this study was to provide the basic materials for C.V.A inpatients' actual use of medical service at the hospital with both the western and oriental medical department and the attitude on cooperative treatment. The results of this study were as follow: First, the subjects' general characteristics including job, monthly mean income and age made statistical differences to their pathological characteristics such as part of primary paralysis, detailed name of disease and cause of elicitation. Second, their general characteristics including religion and job produce statistical difference to their actual use of medical service, like medical institution form, term of treatment and type of medical institution at first-aid. Third, through the awareness of cooperative treatment system, the effect of C.V.A treatment and the shorten of the C.V.A treatment term were higher at oriental medical department inpatients and cooperative treatment serviced inpatients than western medical department inpatients and cooperative treatment non-serviced inpatients. Fourth, the biggest problem on current dual medical system is increase medical expenses and the biggest reason on not vitalized cooperative service is prejudice of both parts.

Effects of V Addition on Tensile and Impact Properties in Low Carbon 1.1Mn Steels (저탄소 1.1 Mn 강의 인장 및 충격 성질에 미치는 V첨가의 영향)

  • In the 1.1 Mn steel containing boron, effects of the 0.1 V addition and processing condition were studied. In the $550^{\circ}C$ interrupted cooling where the main structure is (ferrite + pearlite), the impact toughness decreased as the tensile strength increased by the 0.1 V addition. The $800^{\circ}C$ rolling including two step rolling of $800-770^{\circ}C$, exhibited better strength-toughness balance, as compared to the $770^{\circ}C$ rolling. This seems to be kind of conditioning effect at higher temperature, e.g., more uniform deformation effect. In the accelerated cooling after the $750^{\circ}C$ rolling in a dual phase range, the impact toughness was enhanced, despite a large increase in tensile strength. This is believed to be related to the change of main structure from (ferrite + pearlite) to (ferrite + bainite).

Analysis of Contents and Deviations of Chemical Constituents of flue-cured leaf Tobacco from 1997 to 2001 Crop Years (연산별 황색종 가공엽의 화학성분 함량 및 편차 분석)

  • To investigate the effects of reduction of leaf processing factories on the uniformity of processed leaf quality, the contents and their C.V.(Coefficient of Variation) of chemical constituents of flue-cured leaf tobacco produced from 1997 to 2001 and processed at various factories were analysed. The average leaf chemical contents of 12 grades for 5 years ranged as follows ; nicotine 2.00∼0.85%. total sugar 10.7∼16.9%, total nitrogen 2.36∼2.78%, crude ash 14.6∼15.6% and chlorine 0.50∼0.75%. The variations of chemical contents among crop years was higher in total sugar content while lower in crude ash content. The C.V. of chemical content in same grade leaves was higher in chlorine content while lower in total nitrogen and crude ash contents, and the ratio of C.V. among processing factories/C.V. in total population was higher in total sugar content while lower in crude ash content. When the leaves were processed at one factory, the deviations of chemical contents reduced considerably. Particularly, the decreasing effect of deviation was higher in total sugar content.

ITZO 박막 트랜지스터의 산소 분압과 열처리 온도 가변에 따른 전기적 특성

  • 본 연구에서는 산소 분압과 열처리 온도에 따른 ITZO 박막 트랜지스터의 전기적 특성 향상을 목적으로 실험을 진행하였다. 1) ITZO 박막 증착 시 산소 분압 가변($O_2/(Ar+O_2)$ 30~40%), 열처리 온도 고정($350^{\circ}C$)과 2) ITZO 박막 증착 시 산소 분압 고정(30%), 열처리 온도($200{\sim}400^{\circ}C$)를 가변하여 실험을 진행하였다. 두 실험 모두 특성향상을 위해 산소 분위기에서 열처리를 진행하였다. 산소의 분압이 증가할수록 산소 빈자리를 채우면서 전자 농도가 감소하여 채널 전도 효과가 줄어들면서 Hump 현상이 발생하였고, 스윙이 증가, 문턱 전압이 음의 방향으로 이동하였다. 이에 $O_2/(Ar+O_2)$)의 30%에서 30%일때, 문턱전압은 1.98 V, 전계 효과 이동도는 28.97 $cm2/V{\cdot}s$, sub-threshold swing은 280 mv/dec, on-off 비율은 ~107로 가장 우수한 전기적 특성을 보였다. 또한 열처리 온도 가변 시 $400^{\circ}C$에서 전계 효과 이동도는 28.97 $cm^2/V{\cdot}s$$200^{\circ}C$의 전계 효과 이동도는 11.59 $cm^2/V{\cdot}s$에 비해 약 3배 증가하였고, 소자의 스위칭 척도인 sub-threshold swing은 약 180 mv/dec 감소하였다. 문턱 전압은 0.97V, on-off ratio는 약 107을 보였다. 동일한 산소 분압의 분위기에서 $400^{\circ}C$ 열처리 시 가장 우수한 전기적 특성을 보였고, 저온 공정으로 인한 플렉서블 디스플레이 투명 디스플레이 적용 가능성을 확인하였다.
