Type-tested of Accessories for 345kV Oil Filled Cable (345kV OF 케이블용 부속재의 인정시험완료)

  • Joints and terminations for 345kV Oil Filled $1C{\times}2000mm^2$ cable have been developed and tested including BPT (Bellows Pressure Tank) on the bases of various ultra-high voltage technologies. Electrical design was performed by using Finite Element Method. The type test certified by KEPCO (Korea Electric Power Corporation) has been performed as the final stage of development. In order to confirm the reliability of long-term life for 30 years, load cycle test was conducted for 30 days with good result. As the result, the techniques we obtained from this development are applicable to higher voltage level systems (i.e. 765 kV).

  • This paper describes the development of HVDC ${\pm}500kV$ polypropylene laminated paper (PPLP) mass-impregnated (MI) type cable system for HVDC transmission lines. As you know, mass-impregnated type cable generally has only insulating layer with the Kraft paper impregnated with a high-viscosity insulating compound. But polypropylene laminated paper is made of a layer of extruded polypropylene (PP) film sandwiched between two layers of Kraft paper. Thanks to PP film and its combination with Kraft paper, PPLP has higher AC, Impulse (Imp.) and DC breakdown (BD) strengths as well as lower dielectric loss than conventional Kraft paper insulation. In addition, Kraft MI cable has a limitation for the maximum conductor temperature as $55^{\circ}C$ But this PPLP MI cable has higher maximum conductor temperature than that of Kraft MI cable due to advantage of oil drainage characteristics. It is the most economic type of cable for HVDC transmission. Also HVDC ${\pm}500kV$ PPLP MI cable system was developed including land joints and outdoor-terminations. In order to prove the mechanical and electrical performances, the type test was carried out according to CIGRE recommendations. A full scale cable system has been tested successfully. And additional load cycle and polarity reversal tests on the cable system showed a higher performance compared with a similar mass impregnated paper cable.

ULTRAPRODUCTS OF LOCALLY CONVEX SPACES

  • In this paper, we try to generalize ultraproducts in the category of locally convex spaces. To do so, we introduce D-ultracolimits. It is known [7] that the topology on a non-trivial ultraproduct in the category T $V^{ec}$ of topological vector spaces and continuous linear maps is trivial. To generalize the category Ba $n_{1}$ of Banach spaces and linear contractions, we introduce the category L $C_{1}$ of vector spaces endowed with families of semi-norms closed underfinite joints and linear contractions (see Definition 1.1) and its subcategory, L $C_{2}$ determined by Hausdorff objects of L $C_{1}$. It is shown that L $C_{1}$ contains the category LC of locally convex spaces and continuous linear maps as a coreflective subcategory and that L $C_{2}$ contains the category Nor $m_{1}$ of normed linear spaces and linear contractions as a coreflective subcategory. Thus L $C_{1}$ is a suitable category for the study of locally convex spaces. In L $C_{2}$, we introduce $l_{\infty}$(I. $E_{i}$ ) for a family ( $E_{i}$ )$_{i.mem.I}$ of objects in L $C_{2}$ and then for an ultrafilter u on I. we have a closed subspace $N_{u}$ . Using this, we construct ultraproducts in L $C_{2}$. Using the relationship between Nor $m_{1}$ and L $C_{2}$ and that between Nor $m_{1}$ and Ba $n_{1}$, we show thatour ultraproducts in Nor $m_{1}$ and Ba $n_{1}$ are exactly those in the literatures.   • The cause of corrosion failure found in structures or various components operating in severe corrosive environment has been attributed to stress corrosion cracking(SCC) which is resulting from the combined effects of corrosive environments and static tensile stress. Cathodic protection is an electrochemical method of corrosion control that is widely used in marine environment and primarily on carbon steel. A number of criteria are used to determine whether or not a structure is cathodically protected. In practice, -0.8V versus Ag/AgCl is the most commonly used for marine structures. This paper showed the combined effects of cathodic potential and slow, monotonic straining on the tensile ductility and fracture morphology of parents and friction welded joints for SM45C, SCM440 and SM20C steels in syntheic sea water(S.S.W.,pH:8.2). For the parent materials in cathodic potentials, the higher tensile strength is, the more susceptible SCC is. And the welded HAZ is more susceptible than the parent materials.

  • In order to analyze failure rates of underground transmission power cable systems in Korea, the survey has been performed for the failure cases of cables, joints, and terminations in CV, OF and POF cable systems which occurred from 1983 to 1998. During 16 years, the failure cases due to trips of the systems were 47 among the total 108 cases, These 47 cases could be divided into internal reasons(manufacture/installation, corrosion and degradation) of 16 cases and external reasons (external mechanical damages, lightning, fire. etc.) of 31 cases. For the 154 kV cable systems during 12 years from 1987 to 1998, total failure rate was 0.0057 [case/100C-km/year] and internal reason failure rate was 0.0020 [case/100C-km/Year], which is similar to those of foreign countries. Also, the many cases of internal reason failures occurred in the early stage after the operations due to incorrect installations. This implies that the installation process is very important and some diagnostic tests such as PD measurement are needed besides after laying test.

  • Shoulder pain, injury and discomfort are public health and economic issues world-wide. The function of these joints and the stresses developed during their movement is a major concern to the orthopedic surgeon to study precisely the injury mechanisms and thereby analyze the post-operative progress of the injury. Shoulder is one of the most critical joints in the human anatomy with maximum degrees of freedom. It mainly consists of the clavicle, scapula and humerus; the articulations linking them; and the muscles that move them. In order to understand the behavior of individual muscle during abduction arm movement, an attempt has been made to analyze the stresses developed in the shoulder muscles during abduction arm movement during the full range of motion by using the 3D FEM model. 3D scanning (ATOS III scanner) is used for the 3D shoulder joint cad model generation in CATIA V5. Muscles are added and then exported to the ANSYS APDL solver for stress analysis. Sensitivity Analysis is done for stress and strain behavior amongst different shoulder muscles; deltoid, supraspinatus, teres minor, infraspinatus, and subscapularies during adduction arm movement. During the individual deltoid muscle analysis, the von Mises stresses induced in deltoid muscle was maximum (4.2175 MPa) and in group muscle analysis it was (2.4127MPa) compared to other individual four rotor cuff muscles. The study confirmed that deltoid muscle is more sensitive muscle for the abduction arm movement during individual and group muscle analysis. The present work provides in depth information to the researchers and orthopedicians for the better understanding about the shoulder mechanism and the most stressed muscle during the abduction arm movement at different ROM. So during rehabilitation, the orthopedicians should focus on strengthening the deltoid muscles at earliest.

High Fatigue Life and Tensile Strength Characteristics of Low Activation Ferritic Steel(JLE-1) by TIG Welding (TIG용접한 저방사화 페라이트강(JLF-1)의 고온강도 및 피로수명특성)

  • JLF-1 steel (Fe-9Cr-2W-V-Ta), low activation ferritic steel, is one of the promising candidate materials fer fusion reactor applications. High temperature fatigue life and tensile strength of JLF-1 steel and its TIG welded joints were investigated at the room temperature and $400^{\circ}C$. The strength of base metal (JLF-1) is in between those of weld metal and the HAZ. When the test temperature was increased from room temperature to $400^{\circ}C$, both strength and ductility decreased for base metal, weld metal and the HAZ. The longitudinal specimens of base metal showed similar strength and ductility compared with those of the transverse specimens at room temperature and $400^{\circ}C$. Little anisotropy was observed in the JLF-1 steel base metal in terms of rolling direction. Fatigue limit of weld metal which was obtained from cross-weld specimen is 495MPa. Thus, the weld metal showed the higher fatigue limit than those of base metal at both room temperature and $400^{\circ}C$. Little anisotropy of fatigue properties was observed for JLF-1 base metal in terms of rolling direction. When the test temperature was increased from room temperature to $400^{\circ}C$, the fatigue limit of both base metal and weld metal decreased substantially.

  • Reduced activation ferritic steel, JLF-1 steel (Fe-9Cr-2W-V-Ta), is one of the promising candidate materials for fusion reactor applications. Fracture toughness ($J_IC$) and tensile tests were carried out at room temperature and elevated temperature ($400^{\circ}C$). Two types of CT specimen were prepared to examine the effect of rolling direction on the fracture toughness of JLF-1 steel. Four types of tensile specimen were also prepared to investigate the property by the rolling direction and welding. The Micro Vickers hardness was measured at various distances of a cross section of the TIG joints of JLF-1 steel according to the heating history of each position. Finally, the fracture surface was observed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM).

Quench Current Measurement of High Temperature Superconducting Coils Cooled by Conduction (전도냉각방식을 이용한 고온초전도 코일의 퀜치전류 측정)

  • High Tc superconducting(HTS) model coil was prepared. Current-voltage(I-V) characteristic curves of model coil, sub-coils and joints were investigated at 77K and other some temperatures. Cooling system for characteristics measurement was made by using G-M cryocooler. At 77K, quench current(Iq) of model coil was 43.9A and the lowest Iq of sub-coils was 38.8A. At 55K, sub coil SP #06 was 106A. So, 100A was chosen as the operating current at 55K with margin. Joule heat of model coil was 0.65W at 100A, operating current and 58K. Joint resistances between sub-coils were about $70n{\Omega}$ at 77K and about $30n{\Omega}$ at 55K.

  • 송전전압이 점차 초고압화되면서 절연체의 유전특성을 개선하여 송전용량을 향상시키고, 절연내력을 높여 케이블 외경을 저감시키려는 시도에 따라 우수한 유전특성 및 절연내력을 갖는 폴리머 절연층과 기계적 특성, 절연유와의 적합성이 우수한 크라프트지의 장점을 혼합시킨 반합성지가 개발되어 전력케이블의 주절연재료로 사용되고 있다. 본 논문은 LS전선이 국내최초로 개발한 400 kV급 반합성지 전력케이블 및 접속함 개발과정 및 이와 관련된 요소기술에 대해 기술하였다. 송전시스템에서 요구되는 유전특성의 반합성지를 설계 제작하여, 기존 크라프트 절연지 대비 유전손실은 50% 수준, 절연내력은 125%이상의 반합성지를 개발하였고, 반합성지 고유의 특성인 팽윤율을 조절하여 케이블을 제조하였다. 반합성지 절연 케이블에 필요한 접속함에서는 보강절연재로 케이블과 동일한 반합성지를 사용하여 전체적인 3기를 감소시키고, 열저항성을 줄이고자 노력하였다. 또한, 접속함 조립공정에 필요한 저온연공법을 개발하여 반합성지에 열적 스트레스를 최소화하였다. 상기 관련기술의 개발 결과로, IEC 60141, AEIC CS2-97 및 NGTS 3.5.1에 근거하여 400 kV급 반합성지 OF 케이블 및 접속함에 대해 국제 공인기관인 KEMA의부터 Type Test을 인증받았다.
