  • In this study the amount of equilibrium sorption of C.I. Disperse Yellow 54 dye in the polymeric textiles such as PTT (poly(trimethylene terephthalate)) and PET (poly(ethylene terephthalate)) textiles was measured in the presence of supercritical carbon dioxide at different temperatures, pressures, and time. The amount of dye sorption increased with temperature and pressure in both PTT and PET textiles, but the increasing rate decreased with pressure. The PTT textile has much larger dye sorption than PET textile. The increasing rate of dye sorption decreased with time at same temperature and pressure for both PTT and PET textiles.

  • Sorption of C. I. Disperse Yellow 54 dye in poly(trimethylene terephthalate) (PTT) and poly (ethylene terephthalate) (PET) textile fibers were measured at various pressures, temperatures, and times in the presence of supercritical carbon dioxide and thereby the diffusivities of the dye in the fibers were calculated. The diffusivity of dye in the polymeric fibers was very low, only in the order of $10^{-12}\;cm^2/sec$, but increased with increasing temperature at constant pressure and with increasing pressure at constant temperature. The diffusivity in PTT fibers were about 1.5 to 3 times as large as that in PET fibers. As the fiber was very thin, the dye distribution in the fiber was almost uniform everywhere inside the fiber.

  • The dyeing of polyester fiber with two different disperse dyes (Disperse Red 60 and Disperse Yellow 54) was carried out using supercritical carbon dioxide ($SCCO_2$) as a dyeing medium at temperatures ranging from $50^{\circ}C$ to $90^{\circ}C$ and at pressures from 15 MPa to 30 MPa. The dye uptake of Disperse Red 60 on polyester fiber was found to increase with temperature at constant pressure and $SCCO_2$ density (700 kg/$m^3$). At $90^{\circ}C$ and 30 MPa, the dye uptake on polyester fiber increased with dyeing time and the saturation concentration of Red 60 was attained within 240 min, while a longer dyeing time was required for Yellow 54 to reach its saturation concentration. When dyestuff mixtures with mixing ratios of 0.01 to 9.0 (Red 60/Yellow 54) were used, the uptake ratio of the two dyes was found to be proportional to 0.26 power of their mixing ratio. Dyed fibers showed an orange color and the depth of the color depended upon the mixing ratio of the dyestuffs.

  • In this study, we investigated the clean appearance and good stretch properties. Usually, clean appearance concerned with the dyeing properties of core and effect yarns. The dyeing properties between core yarn (conjugate yarn) and effect yarn were determined by the build-up and the color differences using the four different yarns of SDY FD(spindraw yarn full dull), SDY CD(spindraw yarn cation dyeable), POY FD( partially-oriented yarn full dull) and POY CD(partially-oriented yarn cation dyeable). We used the single color dye of C. I. Disperse Blue 79 and mixed colors made by C. I. Disperse Red 60, C. I. Disperse Blue 56, and C. I. Disperse Yellow 54.

  • In this study, C.I. Disperse Red 60 (DR60), C.I. Disperse Yellow 54 (DY54) dyes were used to investigate the washing fastness characteristics of PET fibers according to supercritical CO2 and aqueous dyeing process. The changes in K/S values and L⁎ values before and after washing of dyed PET fibers were observed according to the KS K ISO 105 washing fastness measurement method. In addition, it was confirmed by changing the ΔE⁎ and ΔL⁎ values of control PET fibers. Overall, it was confirmed that both the supercritical CO2 and aqueous dyeing process had excellent washing fastness ratings of 4-5 for DR60 and DY54 dyes. Comparatively, the K/S and L⁎ values for before and after washing of PET fibers with supercritical CO2 dyeing process was higher than that of the aqueous dyeing process and the ΔE⁎ and ΔL⁎ values of the control PET fibers were low. From the results, we observed that the supercritical CO2 dyeing process of PET fibers has better washing fastness characteristics than the aqueous dyeing process.

  • This Study was made to investigate alkaline dyeing systems for a new dyeing applicable polyester fibers. Disperse dyes for dyeing of polyester fibers were C.I. Red 60, Blue 56 and Yellow 54 as three primary colors of E type which used widely on the scene. Dyeing properties of dispers dyes on the polyester fibers are discussed according to variation of pH values for application of alkaline dyeing method compared with to ordinary acidic dyebath. Alkaline pH of the dyebath was controlled to pH 9 and 10.5 with buffer solutions using each hydrochloride and disodiumtetraborate, disodiumtetraborate and sodium hydroxide to promote the reproducibility of dyeing. Dyeing properties of dispers dyes on the polyester fibers by alkaline dyeing method compared with to ordinary acidic dyebath were discussed by estimation of color, wash-fastness, bleeding and migration of dyed polyester fabric.
