The usefulness of hypertermia for cancer therapy have well been established. The purpose of the present investigation was to ascess the effect of step-up $(42^{\circ}{\rightarrow}44^{\circ}C$ sequence) and step-down $(44^{\circ}{\rightarrow}42^{\circ}C$ sequence) heating on the skin of the hind foot of the mouse. Hyperthermic treatments were given by immersion the hind foot of the mouse in circulating water baths. Skin response was studied by the leg reaction, which was scored according to a numerical scoring system proposed by Urano et al (1980). The results were as follows 1. The skin damage of $44^{\circ}C$ control group was more severe than $42^{\circ}C$ control group (P<0.05), except for 15 min. heating group. 2. The Skin damage of step-down group was more severe than step-up group (P<0.05). 3. The skin damage of $44^{\circ}C$ control group was more severe than step-up group when there is no difference in $44^{\circ}C$ heating time of step-up group from $44^{\circ}C$ control group (P<0.05). 4. In step-down group, the skin damage was more severe than $44^{\circ}C$ control group after preheating 45 min at $44^{\circ}C$ (P<0.05). Therefore, the above findings suggest the normal tissue damage by step-up heating was correlated with heating time of post step-up. The dropping of heating temperature in late phase had more severe damage of the skin than that in early phase during hyperthermia, and so contineous control of satisfactory temperature should be considered as the one of the most important factor for prognosis, complications of clinical hyperthermia

For 6H-SiC crystals which was obtained by sublimation growth, the formation of micropipes and internal planar defects was discussed in consideration of the inter-relationship between mass adsorption behavior and the defects origin on the growth interface on the basis of KSV theory and the the step growth pattern on the vicinal plane. Micropipes and planar defects was formed in the region which the step could not be grown by impurities impinging. It was realized that the internal defects formation was related to the crystallographic step planes formed on the growth interface and the migration of the molecules adsorbed on it.

CPR is very important to paramedics, but the chest compression performed while on the move main stretcher is less accurate. The purpose of this study is to find out the difference between performing chest compression on the side of the main stretcher using C-step and on the patient's over the belly in order to increase the effect of CPR on the main object while on the move. As a result of the study, the appropriate depth (t=4.132, p=.000) and speed (t=7.177, p=.000) were shown in the group to which the C-step was applied, and the accuracy was higher (t=6.774, p=.000). In addition, it was found that there were few location defects (t=-5.197, p=.000) and too shallow errors (t=-2.948, p=.008) in the group to which the C-step was applied. In conclusion, mounting a C-step on the main stretcher seems to help improve the quality of chest compression, and it is thought that this will increase the efficiency of chest compression.

A-axis oriened YBCO thin flims were grown on $LaAIO_{3}$ single crystal substrate by off-axis rf magnetron sputtering method. We used two kinds of process to get a-axis oriented fi1ms;one-step process and two-step process. In one-step process, films are grown in single step in which substrate temperature( $T_s$) is in the range of $590^{\circ}C$ to $680^{\circ}C$. On the other hand, in two step process a-axis oriented thin film templates i f about 30nm thickness is deposited at low temperature first, and subsequently films are grown at elevated temperature to the final thickness of about 100nm. In the case of one step process($T_s$ ~)$600^{\circ}C$), prefered a-axis orientation is dominant and Cu-rich phases segregate at the surface. Segregations decrease and ($00 \ell$) peaks increase upon increasing $T_s$. The films prepared by two step method appeared to have strong(h00) peaks as the deposition rate increased. Microstructure shows pin holes resulted from mixed phases of a-axis and c-axis oriented films. In both cases of one step and two step process, as TS decreases, prepared films show stronger a-axis orientation. However electrical properties of the films are depressed with lower $T_c$ and wider $\Delta T$ as $T_s$ decreases.

Energy of wheeled mobile robot is usually supplied by batteries. In order to extend operation time of mobile robots, it is necessary to minimize the energy consumption. The energy is dissipated mostly in the motors, which strongly depends on the velocity profile. This paper investigates various 3-step (acceleration - cruise - deceleration) speed control methods to minimize a new energy object function which considers the practical energy consumption dissipated in motors related to motor control input, velocity profile, and motor dynamics. We performed an analysis on the energy consumption various velocity profile patterns generated by standard control input such as step input, ramp input, parabolic input, and exponential input. Based on these standard control inputs, we analyzed the six 3-step velocity profile patterns: E-C-E, P-C-P, R-C-R, S-C-S, R-C-S, and S-C-R (S means a step control input, R means a ramp control input, P means a parabolic control input, and E means an exponential control input, C means a constant cruise velocity), and suggested an efficient iterative search algorithm with binary search which can find the numerical solution quickly. We performed various computer simulations to show the performance of the energy-optimal 3-step speed control in comparison with a conventional 3-step speed control with a reasonable constant acceleration as a benchmark. Simulation results show that the E-C-E is the most energy efficient 3-step velocity profile pattern, which enables wheeled mobile robot to extend working time up to 50%.

A two-step process was investigated for pretreatment and fractionation of rice straw. The two-step fractionation process involves first, soaking rice straw in aqueous ammonia (SAA) in a batch reactor to recover lignin-rich hydrolysate. This is followed by a second-step treatment in a fixed-bed flow-through column reactor to recover xylo-oligomer-rich hydrolysate. The remaining glucan-rich solid cake is then subjected to an enzymatic process. In the first variant, SAA treatment in the first step dissolves lignin at moderate temperature (60 and $80^{\circ}C$), while in the second step, hot-water treatment is used for xylan removal at higher temperatures ($150{\sim}210^{\circ}C$). Under optimal conditions ($190^{\circ}C$ reaction temperature, 30 min reaction time, 5.0 ml/min flow rate, and 2.3 MPa reaction pressure), the SAA-hot-water fractionation removed 79.2% of the lignin and 63.4% of the xylan. In the second variant, SAA was followed by treatment with dilute sulfuric acid. With this process, optimal treatment conditions for effective fractionation of xylo-oligomer were found to be $80^{\circ}C$, 12 h reaction time, solid-to-liquid ratio of 1:12 in the first step; and 5.0 ml $H_2SO_4/min$, $170^{\circ}C$, and 2.3 MPa in the second step. After this two-step fractionation process, 85.4% lignin removal and 78.9% xylan removal (26.8% xylan recovery) were achieved. Use of the optimized second variant of the two-step fractionation process (SAA and $H_2SO_4$) resulted in enhanced enzymatic digestibility of the treated solid (99% glucan digestibility) with 15 FPU (filter paper unit) of CTec2 (cellulase)/g-glucan of enzyme loading, which was higher than 92% in the two-step fractionation process (SAA and hot-water).
This paper investigates the change of mechanical properties and thermal shrinkage in commercial multi-filament PET(polyethylene terephthalate) , namely, regular yarn, POY, DTY and composite yarn. To determine changing the effects of processing steps, these were examined at three steps process simulation conditions. The first step is sizing simulation$(S-1\;step\;:\;130^\circ{C}\times2\;min$., hot air treatment under 0.1 gf/d load), the second step is scouring simulation$(S-2\;step\;:\;100^\circ{C}\times20\;min$., boiling water treatment under free tension)and final step is setting simulation$(S-3\;step\;:\;180^\circ{C}\times2\;min$., hot air treatment under free tension). Regular yarn in multi-step treatment showed higher shrinkage at S-3 step and DTY showed higher in at S-1 step. While POY was relaxed at S-1 step, composite yarn showed different shrinkage properties depending on composite yarn type. Mechanical properties showed good relationship with shrinkage : high shrinkage makes initial modulus decrease and bleating strain increase. It also makes decreasing yield strain and yield stress decrease.
