  • Generally, PM BLDC drive system is necessary that the three Hall-ICs evenly be distributed around the stator circumference and encoder be installed in case of the 3 phase motor. So, the Hall-ICs are set up in this motor to detect the main flux from the rotor, and the output signal from Hall-ICs is used to drive a power transistor to control the winding current. However, instead of using three Hall-ICs and encoder, we used only two Hall-ICs for the permanent magnet rotor position and for the speed feedback signals, and also for a micro controller of 16-bit type (80C196KC) with the 3 phase PM BLDC whose six stator and two rotor designed. Two Hall-IC Hc and $H_B$ are placed on the endplate at 120 degree intervals, and with these elements, we estimated information of the others phase in sequence through a rotating rotor.

  • Metal/cobalt ferrite composite thin films with the saturation magnetization (M_s$)of~580 emu/cm3 and the coercivity(Hc) of 1700 Oe were prepared by the reactive sputtering. With increasing substrate temperature, Ms of the thin films increased, while Hc of the thin films decrease. This sttributed to the precipitation of $Co_xFe_{1-x}(x {\appro}x0.62)$ metal phase in the thin films. The metal phase showed the BCC structure ($a_0$=2.89 $\AA$) and Im3m space group. Also, the cobalt ferrite phase was identified as$ CoFe_2O_4$ with a cubic structure ($a_0=8.39 $\AA$$) and a space group of Fd3m. For the higher cobalt content than the stoichiometric composition,$ Co_{37.8}Fe_{62.2}$, the thin films with high Ms and Hc could be obtained in the wide substrate temperature range (200-40$0^{\circ}C$).

  • The hair cycle consists of three phases, growth (anagen), involution (catagen) and quiescence (telogen) phases. In order to evaluate hair re-growth effect of herbal extracts mixture containing the 70% ethanol extracts of Polygoni Multiflori Radix, Mori Cortex Radicis, Gingko Biloba Folium and Pine bud, we have examined the induction of the anagen phase and/or elongation of the anagen period using C3H mice. Morphological examination was done by Hattori' and Ogawa's method. Enzyme activities of ${\gamma}$-glutamyl transpeptidase (${\gamma}$-GT) and alkaline phosphatase (ALP) was detected by Bessey-Lovry-Brock's method. Enzyme activity as a biochemical marker of hair cycle was investigated in the third hair cycle period of C3H mice after depilation. 3% Minoxidil treated group and herbal extract mixture treated group were shown 3 days earlier initiation of anagen than control group. In cycling mouse skin, ${\gamma}$-GT activity is pronounced during anagen and greatly diminished during telogen. Herbal extract mixture has shown promising hair re-growth effect on hair follicular cycles of C3H mice.

  • Friction stir weldability of AZ31B-H24, AZ61A-F and AZ91C-F Mg alloys were studied using microstructural observation and mechanical tests. The microstructure of stir zone(SZ) was coarse in AZ31B-H24 alloy whereas it was very fine both in AZ61A-F and AZ91C-F alloys. The hardness of SZ was remarkably increased by very fine recrystallized grains both in AZ61A-F and AZ91C-F alloys. On the other hand, the hardness of SZ was decreased in AZ31B-H24 due to the coarse microstructure. In SZ, AZ91C-F alloy showed very high hardness values because of dispersion hardening of $Mg_{17}$Al$_{12}$($\beta$ phase) and Al solid solution hardening. Because of more $Mg_{ 17}Al_{12}($\beta$ phase)$ intermetallic compounds, Mg alloy with high Al content showed poor mechanical properties.s.

  • In this work, lithium ferrite ($Li_{0.5}Fe_{2.5}O_4$) nanoparticles were prepared via mechanochemical processing and subsequent heat treatment at a relatively low ($600^{\circ}C$) calcining temperature. The raw materials used were high purity $Fe_2O_3$ and $Li_2CO_3$ that were milled for between 2 and 20 h. The milled powders were then calcined at temperatures of 500 and $600^{\circ}C$ for 5 h in air. XRD results show that optimum conditions to obtain single phase lithium ferrite nanoparticles with a mean crystallite size of about 23 nm, using Scherrer's formula, are 10 h milling and calcination at $600^{\circ}C$. Saturation magnetization and coercivity of the single phase Li ferrite nanoparticles are 44.6 emu/g and 100 Oe respectively, which are both smaller than those of the bulk Li ferrite. The Curie temperature of the single sample was determined by a Faraday balance, which is $578^{\circ}C$ and smaller than that of bulk Li ferrite.

  • Heat transfer phenomena during inward melting and solidification process of the phase change material were studied expertimentally. The phase change medium was 99% pure n-docosane paraffin ($C_{22}H_{46}$). The solid-liquid interface motion during phase change was recorded photographically. Measurements were made on the temperature, the solid-liquid interface, the melted or frozen mass and the various energy components stored or extracted from the cylinder wall. For melting, the experimental results reaffirmed the dominant role played by the conduction at an early stage, by the natural convection at longer time. For solidification, natural convection effects in the superheated liquid were modest and were confined to short freezing time. Although the latent energy is the largest contributor to the total stored or extracted energy, the aggregate sensible energies can make a significant contribution, especially at large cylinder wall superheating or subcooling, large initial phase change material subcooling or superheating.

  • To explore the effects of intramolecular interactions within the copolymer on the phase separation behavior of polymer blends, copolymers having two different types of intramolecular interactions, i.e., intramolecular repulsion and intramolecular attraction were prepared . In this study, poly(styrene-co-methylmethacrylate) (P(S-MMA)) having intramolecular repulsion caused by positive interaction between styrene and MMA and poly(styrene-co-ethyl-methacrylate) (P(S-EMA)) and poly(styrene-co-cyclohexylmethacrylate) (P(S-CHMA)) having intramolecular attraction caused by negative interaction between styrene and methacrylate were blended with tetramethyl poly-carbonate (TMPC). The phase behavior of blends was examined as a function of copolymer composition and blend composition. TMPC formed miscible blends with styrenic copolymers containing less than certain amount of methacrylate. The phase separation temperature of TMPC blends with copolymer such as P(S-MMA) and P(S-EMA), first increases with methacrylate content, goes through a maximum and then decreases just prior to the limiting content of methacrylate for miscibility, while that of TMPC blends with P(S-CHMA) always decreases. The calculated interaction energy for TMPC-P(S-EMA) pair is negative and monotonically increases with EMA content of the copolymer. Such behavior contradicted the general notion that systems with more favorable energetic interactions have higher LCST, The detailed inspection of the lattice-fluid theory related to the phase behavior was performed to explain such behavior.

  • This paper deals with output voltage characteristics analysis of outage and phase jump generator. As soon as the outage occurs the STS(Solid Transfer Switch)s are switched off. At the beginning of the outage the DG is required to limit the reverse current within the rated DG output current. In case of phase jump the DG output voltage phase should be adjusted with PLL. Simulation results show the output voltage characteristics of the generator.

  • Recently, a fuel cell is remarkable for new generation system. The fuel cell generation system converts the chemical energy of a fuel directly into electrical energy. The fuel cell generation is characterized by low voltage and high current. For connecting to utility, it needs both a step up converter and an inverter. The step up converter makes DC link and the inverter changes D.C to A.C. In this paper, full bridge converter and the single phase inverter are designed and installed for fuel cell. Simulation and experiment verify that fuel cell generation system could be applied for the distributed generation.
