  • This study was aimed to derive implications in terms of competition to establish a reasonable spectrum policy for fifth-generation (5G) spectrum allocation through an in-depth analysis of C-band spectrum auctions. As a result of examining auctions in five countries, namely, Belgium, Sweden, Canada, Brazil, and Hong Kong, we identified various characteristics. First, the minimum bandwidth that is essential for service competition is guaranteed. Second, in Brazil, the network construction cost of mobile network operators is regarded as a part of the spectrum price. Third, a joint allocation of spectrum is permitted in Sweden, and spectrum sharing after allocation for 5G services is allowed in Canada. Finally, the reserved spectrum is provided for new service providers in Belgium and Canada. Our findings may provide insights for establishing policies of 5G spectrum allocation and competition in the telecommunications service market in Korea.

  • In our previous report, we indicated that not only BSA but also BGG played an important role in the allergenicity of beef. In this study, the effect of heat or high-pressure treatments to beef extract on the SDS-PAGE patterns was examined. The antigenicity of each treated samples was also investigated by Western blots assay with the sera of BGG-positive beef allergic patients. The BGG band and its antigenicity slightly disappeared but not generally in $100^{\circ}C$ group, indicating $100^{\circ}C$ treatment is not sufficient to totally eliminate the antigenicity of beef allergens. Compared with BGG band, BSA band significantly disappeared in SDS-PAGE with $100^{\circ}C$ treatment, indicating BSA is more heat- sensitive than BGG. When the beef extract was heated at $120^{\circ}C$, not only BSA but also BGG bands was largely disappeared in both SDS-PAGE and Western blots. High pressure (HP) treatment even at 600 MPa did not affect SDS-PAGE and Western blots pattern of BSA. On the contrary, BGG treated with HP showed visible changes in SDS-PAGE. 600 MPa treatment significantly reduced the antigencity. Interestingly, these behaviors of BGG were not found in the same experiments with pure BGG treated with HP. From these results, it was speculated that some kinds of proteolytic enzymes in beef extracts were involved in the BGG molecular degradation by HP treatment. The aging experiments of beef extracts treated with HP supported this hypothesis. Further studies are needed to clarify the function and working mechanism of enzymes associated with BGG degradation in beef extracts by HP treatment.

  • Usually, propagation attenuation of millimeter wave occurs by rainfall, snowfall, temperature, effect of pressure of air. In 60GHz wave band wireless communication network, temperature change becomes big factor of propagation loss department. Also, temperature change causes disturbance of 60GHz frequency at transceiver. In this study, we used 60GHz transceiver and found propagation loss of wireless path and operating frequency disturbance characteristics. In transceiver that there is no temperature compensated device, operating frequency of TX changed by 60.865GHz at temperature of $-5^{\circ}C$, and appeared by 60.730GHz when is $50^{\circ}C$. Therefore, operating frequency change width by temperature change are about 100MHz, greatly. But, in transceiver that there is temperature compensated device, operating frequency of TX changed by 60.830GHz at temperature of $-5^{\circ}C$, and appeared by 60.710GHz when is $50^{\circ}C$. Therefore, operating frequency change width by temperature change are about 20MHz. According to these result, we constructed between buildings examination wireless site for point to point wireless communication using 60GHz band transceivers who have do temperature compensated device, and investigated data transmission characteristics about ambient temperature change. Therefore, if use transceiver that have temperature compensated device, may overcome the wireless transmission error in 60GHz band wireless communication LAN networks despite of ambient temperature change.

  • Ultrastructural changes in endomysial connective tissue, sarcolemma, transverse ridges and myofibrillar structures with particular attention given to Z-discs. A and I-filaments induced by heating to $80^{\circ}C$ were observed by transmission and scanning electron microscopy. Muscle heated to $80^{\circ}C$ produced granulation of sarcolemma aid ultrastructural changes and coagulation were observed in endomysial and sarcolemmal connective tissue. The edvient changes in myofibrillar structure were an increase in coagulation compactness of the A-band portion of sarcomere and disintegration of the I-bands. Z-discs appeared to be relative resistant to heat but I-filaments were observed to be most heat labile.

  • The effects of copper and salt on the hemoglobin patterns of Carassius carassius, Ophicephalus argus, and Misgurnus anguillicaudatus were investigated by vertical starch gel electrophoresis. The number of the hemoglobin band of normal C. cararsius on the anode was one, and that of O. argus was two; neither the number of the homoglobin bands of the fishes nor the mobility of them was affected by copper or salt. The hemoglobin mobility of O. argus was faster than those of C. carassius and M. anguillicaudatus. Normal M. anguillicaudatus had two hemoglobin bands with nearly identical mobilities, one band migrating anodically and the other cathodically. When M. anguillicaudatus was exposed to copper, the mobility of band on the anode was faster than those of the other groups of control and exposed to salt, whereas the hemoglobin band on the cathode was not affected.

  • In this paper, we propose a C-band radiometer for remote sensing of land surface temperature and present its experiment results using asphalt as target. Total power type is selected for high sensitivity and low power consumption, super-heterodyne type is selected for stable high gain. A radiometer designed at 5.1 GHz to have operating bandwidth of 110 MHz has system gain of 59 dB, noise figure of 2.7 dB and receiving sensitivity of 0.45 K. We have measured surface temperature on asphalt by using implemented system and thermometer. Analysis data of each measurement results show that a radiometer operates linearly with output voltage variation rate of 6 $mV/^{\circ}C$. As a result, we verified validity of a developed C-band radiometer for remote sensing of land surface temperature.

  • Objective: The purpose was to investigate changes in mechanical properties, range of motion, and grip strength of the forearm muscle in 13 students depending on the wrapping direction of the floss band. Design: A single-blind, crossover study Methods: Subjects were randomly assigned to the wrapping direction of the flossing band and then performed a concentric exercise of the wrist flexors using a Flex-Bar. Intervention A applied the flossing band in a right spiral direction, Intervention B applied the flossing band in a left spiral direction, and Intervention C performed the exercise alone. All subjects used their dominant right hand, and pre- and post-assessments were conducted between interventions. To analyze differences in changes between groups pre- and post-, all results were subjected to one-way ANOVA, followed by Scheffe's test as a post-hoc analysis. The paired samples t-test was used to analyze the difference between pre- and post-change within groups. Results: First, in the mechanical properties of the Flexor carpi ulnaris (FCU) muscle, interventions A and B significantly improved muscle tone and stiffness than intervention C (p<0.05), and intervention A showed a significant decrease in decrement (muscle elasticity) than intervention B (p<0.05). Second, interventions A and B showed significant improvement in grip strength than intervention C (p<0.05). Conclusions: The right spiral direction of the flossing band tended to increase the elasticity of the muscles compared to the left spiral direction. Therefore, in future studies, it is necessary to choose the direction of the flossing band to increase the elasticity of the muscles.

  • The performance of a long wavelength-band erbium-doped fiber amplifier (L-band EDFA) using 1530nm-band pumping has been studied. A 1530nm-band pump source is built using a tunable light source and two C-band EDFAs in cascaded configuration, which is able to deliver a maximum output power of 23dBm. Gain coefficient and noise figure (NF) of the L-band EDFA are measured for pump wavelengths between 1530nm and 1560nm. The gain coefficient with a 1545nm pump is more than twice as large as with a 1480nm pump. It indicates that the L-band EDFA consumes low power. The noise figure of 1530nm pump is 6.36dB at worst, which is 0.75dB higher than that of 1480nm pumped EDFA. The optimum pump wavelength range to obtain high gain and low NF in the 1530nm band appears to be between 1530nm and 1540nm. Gain spectra as a function of a pump wavelength have bandwidth of more than 10nm so that a broadband pump source can be used as 1530nm-band pump. The L-band EDFA is also tested for WDM signals. Flat Gain bandwidth is 32nm from 1571.5 to 1603.5nm within 1dB excursion at input signal of -10dBm/ch. These results demonstrate that 1530nm-band pump can be used as a new efficient pump source for L-band EDFAs.

  • In this paper, FG-CPW (Finite-Ground Coplanar Wave-Guide) balanced diode mixer is presented. Frequency bandwidth is selected for a C-band, which is 5.72~5.82 GHz for RF, 5.58~5.68 GHz for LO, and 140 MHz for IF signals. A rat-race hybrid is designed for the accomplishment of single balanced type. A low pass filter (LPF) with CPW structure is used far good conversion loss and unwanted harmonics suppression. When LO signal with the power of 4 dBm at 5.635 GHz is injected, a conversion loss of 6.2 dB is obtained for the mixer. Also, the LO to RF and LO to IF isolation of 30 dB and 40 dB are obtained, respectively. This mixer can be used in the area on wireless LAN application.
