To determine rapid and reliable analytical method for ochratoxin A detection in cereal-based Korean traditional foods, ochratoxin A content was measured by high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) with immunoaffinity column clean-up. Recoveries of ochratoxin A in tested samples ranged from 68.4 to 85.3%. Occurrences of ochratoxin A were 15, 10, and 5% for Kochujang, Deonjang, and Kanjang, respectively. None was detected in Sunsik (mixed cereals). Average levels of ochratoxin A ranged from $0.5\;to\;1.3{\mu}g/kg$, lower than maximum residue level of $5-50{\mu}g/kg$ of ochratoxin A recorded in foreign food code.
The resilience of a city confronted with a terrorist bomb attack is the background of the paper. The resilience strongly depends on vital infrastructure and the physical protection of people. The protection buildings provide in case of an external explosion is one of the important elements in safety assessment. Besides the aspect of protection, buildings facilitate and enable many functions, e.g., offices, data storage, -handling and -transfer, energy supply, banks, shopping malls etc. When a building is damaged, the loss of functions is directly related to the location, amount of damage and the damage level. At TNO Defence, Security and Safety methods are developed to quantify the resilience of city infrastructure systems (Weerheijm et al. 2007b). In this framework, the dynamic response, damage levels and residual bearing capacity of multi-storey RC buildings is studied. The current paper addresses the aspects of dynamic response and progressive collapse, as well as the proposed method to relate the structural damage to a volume-damage parameter, which can be linked to the loss of functionality. After a general introduction to the research programme and progressive collapse, the study of the dynamic response and damage due to blast loading for a single RC element is described. Shock tube experiments on plates are used as a reference to study the possibilities of engineering methods and an explicit finite element code to quantify the response and residual bearing capacity. Next the dynamic response and progressive collapse of a multi storey RC building is studied numerically, using a number of models. Conclusions are drawn on the ability to predict initial blast damage and progressive collapse. Finally the link between the structural damage of a building and its loss of functionality is described, which is essential input for the envisaged method to quantify the resilience of city infrastructure.
Ultrasonic sensors are widely used in mobile robot applications to recognize external environments, because they are cheap, easy to use, and robust under varying lighting conditions. However, the recognition of objects using a ultrasonic sensor is not so easy due to its characteristics such as narrow beam width and no reflected signal from a inclined object. As one of the alternatives to resolve these problems, use of multiple sensors has been studied. A sequential driving system needs a long measurement time and does not take advantage of multiple sensors. Simultaneous and pulse coding driving system of ultrasonic sensor array cannot measure short distance as the length of the code becomes long. This problem can be resolved by multi-frequency driving of ultrasonic sensors, which allows multi-sensors to be fired simultaneously and adjacent objects to be distinguished. Accordingly, this paper presents a simultaneous and multi-frequency driving system for an ultrasonic sensor array for object recognition. The proposed system is designed and implemented using a DSP and FPGA. A micro-controller board is made using a DSP, Polaroid 6500 ranging modules are modified for firing the multi-frequency signals, and a 5-channel frequency modulated signal generating board is made using a FPGA. To verify the proposed method, experiments were conducted in an environment with overlapping signals, and the flight distances for each sensor were obtained from filtering of the received overlapping signals and calculation of the time-of-flights.

Current R.C. retaining wall design is bared on WSD, but the reliability based design method is more rational than the WSD. For this reason, this study proposes a reliability based design criteria for the cantilever retaining wall, which is most common type of retaining wall, and also proposes the theoretical bases of nominal safety factors of stability analysis by introducing the reliability theory. The limit state equations of stability analysis and design of each part of cantilever retaining wall are derived and the uncertainty measuring algorithms of each equation are also derived by MFOSM using Coulomb's coefficient of the active earth pressure and Hansen's bearing capacity formula. The levels of uncertainties corresponding to these algorithms are proposed appropriate values considering our actuality. The target reliability indices (overturning: ${\beta}_0$=4.0, sliding: ${\beta}_0$=3.5, bearing capacity: [${\beta}_0$=3.0, design for flexure: [${\beta}_0$=3.0, design for shear: ${\beta}_0$=3.2) are selected as optimal values considering our practice based on the calibration with the current R.C. retaining wall design safety provisions. Load and resistance factors are measured by using the proposed uncertainties and the selected target reliability indices. Furthermore, a set of nominal safety factors, allowable stresses, and allowable shear stresses are proposed for the current WSD design provisions. It may be asserted that the proposed LRFD reliability based design criteria for the R.C. retaining wall may have to be incorporated into the current R.C. design codes as a design provision corresponding to the USD provisions of the current R.C. design code.

Bearing capacity factor $N_{\gamma}$ and shape factor were studied for rigid strip and circular footings with a rough base on sand by numerical modelling considering the effect of dilation angle. The numerical model was developed with an explicit finite difference code. Loading procedures and interpretation methods were devised in order to shorten the running time while eliminating the exaggeration of the reaction caused by the explicit scheme. Using the Mohr-Coulomb plasticity model with associated (${\psi}={\phi}$) and nonassociated (${\psi}$ < ${\phi}$) flow-rules, the bearing capacity factor $N_{\gamma}$ was evaluated for various combinations of internal friction angles and dilation angles. Bearing capacity factor decreased as the dilation angle was reduced from the associated condition. An equation applicable to typical sands was proposed to evaluate the relative bearing capacity for the nonassociated condition compared to the associated condition on which most bearing capacity factor equations are based. The shape factor for the circular footing varied substantially when the plane-strain effect was taken into account for the strip footing. The numerical results of this study showed closer trends with the previous experimental results when the internal friction angle was increased for the strip footing. Discussions are made on the reason that previous equations for the shape factor give different results and recommendations are made for the appropriate design shape factor.

An improved friction model was proposed with consideration of the effect of the sliding speed, the contact pressure and the temperature, and it was implemented into a user subroutine of a commercial FEM code, ABAQUS/Explicit. Then, a smooth tire was simulated for free rolling, driving, braking and cornering situations using the improved friction model and the Coulomb friction model, and the effect of the friction models on the slip, the frictional energy distribution and the cornering force and moment was analyzed. For the free rolling, the driving and the braking situations, the improved friction model and the Coulomb friction model resulted in similar profiles of the slip and the frictional energy distributions although the magnitudes were different. The slips obtained from the simulations were in a good correlation with experimental data. For the cornering situation, the Coulomb friction model with the coefficient of friction of 1 or 2 resulted in lower or higher cornering forces and moments than experimental data. In addition, in contrast to experimental data it did not result in a maximum cornering force and a decrease of the cornering moment for the increase of the speed. However, the improved friction model resulted in similar cornering forces and moments to experimental data, and it resulted in a maximum cornering force and a decrease of the cornering moment for the increase of the speed, showing a good correlation with experimental data.
A validation of a 3D CFD model for predicting local subcooling of moderator in the vicinity of calandria tubes in a CANDU reactor is performed. The small scale moderator experiments performed at Sheridan Park Experimental Laboratory(SPEL) in Ontario, Canada[1] is used for the validation. Also a comparison is made between previous CFD analyses based on 2DMOTH and PHOENICS, and the current model analysis for the same SPEL experiment. For the current model, a set of grid structures for the same geometry as the experimental test section is generated and the momentum, heat and continuity equations are solved by CFX-4.3, a CFD code developed by AEA technology. The matrix of calandria tubes is simplified by the porous media approach. The standard $k-\varepsilon$ turbulence model associated with logarithmic wall treatment and SIMPLEC algorithm on the body fitted grid are used and buoyancy effects are accounted for by the Boussinesq approximation. For the test conditions simulated in this study, the flow pattern identified is a buoyancy-dominated flow, which is generated by the interaction between the dominant buoyancy force by heating and inertial momentum forces by the inlet jets. As a result, the current CFD moderator analysis model predicts the moderator temperature reasonably, and the maximum error against the experimental data is kept at less than $2.0^{\circ}C$ over the whole domain. The simulated velocity field matches with the visualization of SPEL experiments quite well.
Experiments were carried out to evaluate the air speed distribution of an enclosed growing-finishing pig house in summer and winter. The data taken by experiments were compared to validate with the calculated air speeds by a commercial CFD code, FLUENT. Air basically enters into the house through Baffled slot Inlet and leaves through a exhaust fan attached on the Exhaust fan in exiting wall of the house. Air speeds were measured as $2{\sim}2.5m/s$ at the two side slot in winter and 0.8 m/s in summer. The validation showed that a CFD simulation is one of feasible methods to predict airspeed distribution in the growing-finishing pig house.
Horizon Run 5 (HR5) is a cosmological hydrodynamical simulation which captures the properties of the Universe on a Gpc scale while achieving a resolution of 1 kpc. This enormous dynamic range allows us to simultaneously capture the physics of the cosmic web on very large scales and account for the formation and evolution of dwarf galaxies on much smaller scales. Inside the simulation box. we zoom-in on a high-resolution cuboid region with a volume of 1049 × 114 × 114 Mpc3. The subgrid physics chosen to model galaxy formation includes radiative heating/cooling, reionization, star formation, supernova feedback, chemical evolution tracking the enrichment of oxygen and iron, the growth of supermassive black holes and feedback from active galactic nuclei (AGN) in the form of a dual jet-heating mode. For this simulation we implemented a hybrid MPI-OpenMP version of the RAMSES code, specifically targeted for modern many-core many thread parallel architectures. For the post-processing, we extended the Friends-of-Friend (FoF) algorithm and developed a new galaxy finder to analyse the large outputs of HR5. The simulation successfully reproduces many observations, such as the cosmic star formation history, connectivity of galaxy distribution and stellar mass functions. The simulation also indicates that hydrodynamical effects on small scales impact galaxy clustering up to very large scales near and beyond the baryonic acoustic oscillation (BAO) scale. Hence, caution should be taken when using that scale as a cosmic standard ruler: one needs to carefully understand the corresponding biases. The simulation is expected to be an invaluable asset for the interpretation of upcoming deep surveys of the Universe.

Investment authorities are broad financial institutions that carefully manage investments on behalf of the national government using a long-term value development approach. To provide a stronger structure or framework for In-vestment Authorities to govern the distribution of funds to public and private markets, we've started research to create a blockchain-based prototype for managing and tracking numerous finances of such authorities. We have taken the case study of Oman Investment Authority (OIA) of Sultanate of Oman. Oman's wealth is held in OIA. It is an organization that oversees and utilizes the additional capital generated by oil and gas profits in public and private markets. Unlike other Omani funds, this one focus primarily on assets outside the Sultanate. The operation of the OIA entails a huge number of transactions, necessitating a high level of transparency and administration among the parties involved. Currently, OIA relies on various manuals to achieve its goals, such as the Authorities and Responsibilities manual, the In-vestment Manual, and the Code of Business Conduct, among others. In this paper, we propose a Blockchain based framework to manage the operations of OIA. Blockchain is a part of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, and it is re-shaping every industry. The main components of every blockchain are assets and participants. The funds are the major assets in the proposed study, and the participants are the various fund shareholders/recipients. The block-chain's transactions are all safe, secure, and immutable, and it's part of a trustless network. The transactions are simple to follow and verify. By replacing intermediary firms with smart contracts, blockchain-based solutions eliminate any middlemen in the fund allocation process.
