This study analyze factors influencing business performance by types of agricultural corporation for improving performance. The number of agricultural corporations have been increasing but their profitability has been decreasing. In this situation, it is important to analyze factors influencing business performance for improving their profitability. We estimate a model including financial indexes and corporation's characters using ordinary least square. We use agricultural corporations survey data for 10years(2005~2014) of Statistics Korea. This study analyze bookkeeping recorded agricultural corporations for the same period. As a result, we find factors to influence Return on Assets(ROA). Additionally, we calculate optimized current ratio and debt ratio for ROA maximization. Operation period and the number of full-time workers also have a positive effect on ROA. Agricultural production, processing and distribution variables by business types have a positive effect on ROA, but some of their interaction terms have a negative effect on ROA. We expect that this result will help for improving corporation's business performance.

In recent years, a significant number of empirical studies have examined the relationship between export and economic growth in India. However, this study analyses the relationship between exports and economic growth through the time series model. The main aim of this study is to investigate the causal relationship between exports and economic growth in India. The VAR model was used for the period 1961 to 2015 after verifying the stationarity of the variables through using Augmented Dickey-Fuller and Phillip-Perron tests. The Indian export sector has been found to have a significant and positive impact on economic growth and other long-term economic activities. The study also employed the Granger causality test to check the direction of causality and found that RXGS, RGDP, RPFC, and RGFC had a unidirectional relationship and RXGS and RMGS had a bidirectional relationship in long run. Also, the findings of this study suggest that a steady-state between exports and economic growth can be achieved in India over a long period. The overall outcome of this study provides a testimony of the fact that the export sector plays a vital role in economic growth in India and also leads to the long-term growth of other economic activities.

This study investigates and analyzes the difference in Indonesian banks' earnings quality in the pre-audit and post-audit period. This study also investigates the difference in audit quality done by public accounting firms. This study employs time series data taken from the unaudited and audited financial statements of banks listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange in 2012-2016. Sample selection is made by using a purposive sampling method. The population of this study is 43 banks, and after checking the data for validity and reliability, the final sample size was 26 banks. Audit quality is operationalized with the size of the auditor. Earnings quality is proxied by accruals calculated using the Beaver and Engel (1996) model. The data analysis method used in this study is the paired-sample t-test and chow test. This study shows that there is no difference in earnings quality in the pre-audit and post-audit period. This study also reveals no difference in audit quality between the big four and non-big four auditors. These findings mean that independent auditors do not play a useful role in increasing the reliability of accounting information presented by management to stakeholders. Besides, this study's results do not verify the agency theory regarding auditors' role to minimize opportunistic management behavior in preparing financial statements.

Corporate reputation is a widely debated topic among academics and a crucial issue in the business world. However, previous research in this area has been scattered and fragmented, leaving room for further study, particularly in terms of reputation measurement methods. Factors such as sustainability reporting, governance attributes, and company characteristics have been linked to improved company reputation. However, there is limited research on the effects of these variables on the new methods of measuring reputation, especially in developing countries like Malaysia. Therefore, the current study developed a new measurement for reputation and aimed to examine the relationship between these variables and the new proxy of reputation. The current study collected secondary data from the company's annual report for two years period of study (i.e., 2018 and 2019) and employed content analysis. A period of two years was chosen and deemed ample to provide insightful findings of the effect of the variables associated with reputation disclosure. The results indicate that sustainability reporting, outside directors, company size, leverage, and profitability significantly impact corporate reputation. This finding suggests that Malaysian PLCs and other firms in developing countries must recognize sustainability reporting as part of their reputation management strategy that influences the company's reputation.

This review paper aims at providing a systematic analysis of articles published in various journals and related to the uses and business applications of big data. The goal is to provide a holistic picture of the place of big data in the tourism industry. The reviewed articles have been selected for the period 2013-2020 and have been classified into 8 broad categories namely business strategy and firm performance; banking and finance; healthcare; hospitality; networks and telecommunications; urbanism and infrastructures; law and legal regulations; and government. While the categories are reflective of components of tourism industries and infrastructures, the meta-analysis is organized around 3 broad themes: preferred research contexts, conceptual developments, and methods used to research big data business applications. Main findings revealed that firm performance and healthcare remain popular contexts of research in the big data realm, but also demonstrated a prominence of qualitative methods over mixed and quantitative methods for the period 2013-2020. Scholars have also investigated topics involving the notions of competitive advantage, supply chain management, smart cities, but also ethics and privacy issues as related to the use of big data.
We consider a two-fare, two-period airline seat capacity allocation problem where consumers may choose different options in purchasing an airline ticket. A consumer may decide to wait for reopening of the same fare class ticket which is originally intended to buy, or may buy a different fare class ticket within the same period, if the originally requested fare is unavailable. We investigate the impact of the consumer buying behavior on the optimal solutions and the expected revenue.
Following the methodology of Ben-Rephael, Kadan and Wohl (2015), this paper examines whether firm-level liquidity premium exists and whether the premium exhibits a long-term trend in the Korean stock market. The results show that over the whole sample period (1998-2018), a liquidity premium of 0.083% exists in the cross-section of stocks. Interestingly, the pricing of liquidity declines significantly over the sample period. Sub-period analysis indicates that liquidity is priced mainly in the first sub-period (1998-2004) with a significant monthly premium of 0.304%, while the pricing of liquidity becomes weaker or insignificant in the second (2005-2011) and the third (2012-2018) period. I also find that the significance of the liquidity premium in the first period is attributed to small stocks. To explore underlying reasons that might affect the decline in the liquidity premium, I decompose liquidity premium into the product of firm-level liquidity and the sensitivity of expected stock returns on liquidity. The results reveal that the long-term decline is explained by both an increase in firm-level liquidity and a decrease in the sensitivity of expected returns on liquidity.
Purpose - The purpose of this study is to empirically investigate whether the auditor accreditation system for IPO firms improves the efficiency of the KOSDAQ IPO market. To verify the effectiveness of the auditor designation system, we time series compare four measures of IPO firms (earnings management, long-term stock performance, change in operating performance, and possibility of delisting). Design/methodology/approach - We test the hypothesis through event research method and regression analysis. Specifically, the dependent variables of the regression model are discretionary accruals in the year of IPO, 36-month holding period excess return after IPO, change in operating performance for 3 years after IPO, and dummy variable for delisting. And the explanatory variable is a dummy variable that separates the period before and after the implementation of the auditor designation system. Findings - We find that earnings management and delisting risks decreased more in the period after the implementation of the auditor accreditation system than in the previous period. In addition, we find that long-term stock performance and operating performance after IPO increase further after the implementation of the auditor accreditation system. Research implications or Originality - Overall, the results of this study suggest that the implementation of the auditor accreditation system for IPO firms contributes to improving market efficiency in the KOSDAQ market, where information asymmetry is high. Our study differs from previous studies in that it demonstrates the effectiveness of the auditor designation system using various measures.
A growing number of firms are competitively entering into e-business because they see the high potential of e-business growth as an opportunity. The positive expectation of e-business market leads most firms to go into e-business, but it is not clarified what kinds of benefits firms gain through e-business. In this paper, we examine whether firms' economic benefits are related to e-business activities. For this purpose, we employ event study methodology and assess the cumulative abnormal returns for 782 e-business initiatives made by firms listed in Korean capital markets. The well-known "Dot Com Effect" is empirically verified through this study. The results of this study indicate that the e-business potential is highly evaluated in the capital market, and e-business firms are expected to create significant benefits in the future period.
This article aims to clarify what is the best investment behavior in Capital Intensive Industries(hereinafter CIIs) which show repeated business cycles. In CIIs, investments is centered in the period of upturns and goes beyond the adequate level because of the time that takes to completion of facilities. This over-investment causes oversupply and downturn, and in period of downturn, investments shrinks under the adequate level. The repeated change of over-investment and under-investment is the reason for the business cycles. In this article, a simulation model replicating the business cycles in CIIs was constructed and the effects of various investment strategies was tested. The results are as follows. First, the investment behavior following market condition causes the ongoing fluctuation of profits. Second, strategic increase in flexibility such as adjustment of facility utilization and shortening of facility construction time contributes to the increase in profit and stabilization of income. Third, in relation to market condition, the constant investment is more profitable in stagnated market and the counter-market investment is more profitable in growing market. In sum, it is desirable not to synchronize their investment with those of competitors.
