  • It seems required to determine what might affect the technological innovation activities of manufacturing companies and what kind of role they could play for them to carry out technological innovation activities in an effective way. The objective of the present study is thus to conduct a depth empirical analysis of the structural relations among business environment, technological innovation activities and performance of manufacturing companies. From the analysis, following outcomes could be drawn: First, with regard to the relationship between business environment and technological innovation activities of manufacturing companies, it has become clear that the external environment is a factor that can influence technological innovation activities such as management of technical property, technological innovation system as well as technical network, while it exercises no impact upon adaptation of manufacturers to new technologies. The internal environment, on the other hand, turns out to have influence on such overall factors of technological innovation activities as management of technical property, technological innovation system, adaptation to new technologies and technical network; and Second, as for the relationship between technological innovation activities and their performance, it has been obvious that management of technical property and technological innovation system, both factors of technological innovation activities, affect the performance of product development and financial achievements of manufacturing companies. Their adaptation to new technologies will also affect their performance of product development as well as financial achievements. These findings suggest that it is important for manufacturing companies to set up an operating system that may be able to upgrade the practical applicability of their technological development activities in an attempt to promote performance of their technological innovation activities.

  • This study is about the evaluation of the color arrangements of working clothes that are harmonized with working environment and assist in the protection of workers in industrial sites. This study attempted color arrangement design with the intention of giving order to the colors of working environment and working clothes so as to help improve the safety of work and the management aspects including human resource management, efficiency improvement, and the practice of business ethics. The study method consisted of literature research, empirical research, and evaluation research. The literature research performed theoretical examination about colors, industrial safety, and visibility. Three actual outdoor work sites in the machine industry were chosen and pictures were taken at 20-30 m from workers. The background colors of the work environment of each work site and the colors of the working clothes that were actually worn were analyzed through color values measured with a color-difference meter(CR-400). As a result, it was found that between value and chroma which affect visibility, color arrangement based on differences in chroma could be a greater influence than color arrangement based on differences in value. The results of this study could assist the integration of color schemes among working environment colors, people and working clothes by suggesting color arrangements with improved visibility that are applicable to the working clothes of domestic machine manufacturers that are playing a pivotal role in domestic industries and by presenting appropriate guidelines.

  • Purpose - The purpose of this paper is to investigate the determinants of corporate anti-corruption practice disclosure (ACPD) from the perspective of rent-seeking theory. Research design, data, and methodology - Data are hand-collected from corporate social responsibility reports (CSRR) issued by 724 A-share listed firms in China. This paper provides an empirical analysis of the relationship between ownership structure and corporate ACPD as well as its moderating role in the institutional environment. Results - Our findings indicate that rent-seeking is a key factor in influencing corporate ACPD. State-owned enterprises disclose significantly more anti-corruption information than private ones in order to achieve personal promotion of top executives. Monopoly enterprises reported significantly less anti-corruption information than enterprises in competitive industries due to their rent-seeking behavior. The reduction of government intervention and improvement of legal environment are helpful to curb corporate rent-seeking activities and enhance the level of corporate ACPD. Conclusions - Rent-seeking is an important factor in explaining corporate voluntary disclosure in emerging countries. Institutional environment also plays a moderating role in the relationship between ownership structure and corporate voluntary disclosure. Our results are of interest to policy makers, regulators and market participants that are interested in corporate voluntary disclosure and corruption prevention.

  • The rapid change in the financial market has led to a shift to relationship marketing, which emphasizes relationships with existing customers rather than creating new ones. Therefore, to achieve competitive advantage in the market, assessing service quality and relationship quality has become an important tool for financial institutions. The widely applied five dimension model has shown problems of dimensions overlapping and blurring with each other, which results in the lack in providing the marketer with practical administrative implications. Therefore, a three dimensional model, composed of interaction quality, physical environment quality and outcome quality, that could be applied in general to various service industries and, at the same time, categorized into service quality dimensions that are not ambiguous for marketers to manage has been utilized. As a result, in the case of Korean consumers, interaction quality, physical environment quality, and outcome quality were shown to have positive effects on customer satisfaction and customer loyalty. For Brazilian consumers, physical environment quality and outcome quality were shown to have positive effects on customer satisfaction and customer loyalty. Also, a median effect of customer satisfaction was found. This paper reviews the concept and dimensions of service quality and relationship quality, as well as verifying the structural relationship between the two variables through empirical analysis. Through the results of the analysis, the paper compares the differences between two distinctive countries and present theoretical and academic implications.

  • The study aims to investigate the relationship between hedging with derivatives and subsequent firm-level stock price crash risk. Our sample consists of KOSPI- and KOSDAQ-listed companies from 2004 to 2014. The total firm-year observation is 4,886. We find that hedging with derivatives is related to greater possibilities of crash risk. The results suggest that the complexity of economic and financial reporting for derivatives may aggravate the company's information opacity, ultimately increasing the crash risk. We contribute to the growing body of literature on hedging with derivatives. Academics and practitioners have debated on whether or not hedging enhances transparency or rather makes the information environment more opaque. Theoretical research on the role of corporate hedging on information environment shows that hedging enhances earnings informativeness. Meanwhile, pieces of anecdotal and empirical evidence show that the economic and financial reporting complexity of derivatives can harm information transparency. Our results shed light on the question of whether and how hedging with derivatives affects information environment by examining the relationship between hedging with derivatives and crash risk. Furthermore, our findings provide useful insights for policymakers and practitioners. Specifically, our results raise a need for a more transparent disclosure on corporate hedging activities with derivatives.

  • Construction projects are high-risk activities. When undertaking such projects in an international setting, it can be complicated by foreign exchange (FOREX) fluctuation risk. This affects the construction business performance in various ways, namely its progress due to delays, which in turn create further problems, specifically cost overruns as a result of price increase in raw materials, disputes, arbitration, litigation and even, total abandonment. Thus, the effective management of FOREX fluctuations is crucial. Previous studies have focused on the need for contract safeguards, adequate insurance, careful planning and management, as well as foreign exchange futures hedging to address some of the risks triggered by FOREX fluctuations. An analysis of FOREX fluctuations in the international construction industry revealed that more often it was focused on project-specific issues. Currently, there is a relative lack of awareness on Organizational Capabilities (OC), the abilities that owned by the organization, which is essential in managing the impact of FOREX fluctuations. Where research has focused on OC, these are viewed in isolation. Therefore, this study attempts to close the gap by proposing a framework on managing the impact of FOREX fluctuations in the international construction industry, employing the OC perspective.

  • Analysis about supply chain structure was achieved in product unit that is not 'business' dimension that is existent discussion target in surrounding and supply chain structure as that this study analyzes positively how supply chain structure according to business surroundings of product changes. This can do that analysis of product unit in synthetic supply chain management is essential when recognize the importance that supply chain management must consist by product special quality according to corporation's each product. Sort product environment and studied relation with supply chain structure to achieve study purpose hereupon. Structure variable of supply chain drew through existent literature study here. Executed question investigation for supply chain by product for study that is actual proof enemy, and figure method used analysis of variance (ANOVA) mainly. If summarize result of study, result that analyze relation between business environment of product and supply chain structure, according to business environment of product, showed that supply chain structure changes. Certified that relation of two group (environment group of uncertain product and environment group of stable product) of business environment of product and structure variable (that is number of participant of supply chain, lead time of supply chain, about administration's independence, response points of supply chain) of supply chain is significant relation all from all structure variables except number of participant of supply chain. Variable that express length of supply chain from structure Variable of supply chain is number of participant of supply chain and lead time of supply chain, and variable that display monitoring or trust aspect for supply chain is administration's independence degree and response points of supply chain. As analysis result, product that environment is uncertain is appearing more shortly than product that length of supply chain stabilizes, and also, monitoring or trust aspect for supply chain was proved that is consisting abuzzer than product that stabilize. Therefore, showed that put essential point in administration of 'hierarchy'putting first than 'market' when business environment designs supply chain structure in case of uncertain product, and proved that the other side business environment is focusing in administration way of 'market' putting first in case of stable product.
