The study of a full cycle semi-automated business process re-engineering: A comprehensive framework

  • This paper presents an idea and framework to automate a full cycle business process management and re-engineering by integrating traditional business process management systems, process mining, data mining, machine learning, and simulation. We build our framework on the cloud-based platform such that various data sources can be incorporated. We design our systems to be extensible so that not only beneficial for practitioners of BPM, but also for researchers. Our framework can be used as a test bed for researchers without the complication of system integration. The automation of redesigning phase and selecting a baseline process model for deployment are the two main contributions of this study. In the redesigning phase, we deal with both the analysis of the existing process model and what-if analysis on how to improve the process at the same time, Additionally, improving a business process can be applied in a case by case basis that needs a lot of trial and error and huge data. In selecting the baseline process model, we need to compare many probable routes of business execution and calculate the most efficient one in respect to production cost and execution time. We also discuss the challenges and limitation of the framework, including the systems adoptability, technical difficulties and human factors.

  • 1988년 이래 국내 남성복 시장에서 자사 브랜드인 파크랜드를 통해 내수 사업을 전개해온 (주)파크랜드는 기업 특유의 경영혁신적 사고에 의거하여 생산혁신, 유통혁신, 관리혁신을 구현하고 차별적인 마케팅전략을 추진함으로써 국내 신사복 시장의 대표 브랜드로서의 괄목할만한 경영성과를 이룰 수 있었다. 본 사례는 파크랜드의 성공적인 포지셔닝을 위해 기울인 통합적이고 체계적인 노력에 대해 생산혁신, 유통혁신, 관리혁신 등 전사적 경영혁신을 중심으로 소개하고, 이에 따른 차별적인 마케팅전략을 경영성과와 함께 살펴본 후, 파크랜드의 장기적 발전을 위한 전략적 과제를 제시하고 있다.

Analyzing Tesla's International Business Strategies: A Closer Look at the Korean and Chinese Markets

  • Purpose: Taking Tesla Motors as a case study object, this research aims to summarize the management strategy of Tesla Motors through an evaluation of its business models in Korea and China then helps other new energy automobile enterprises in formulating strategic directions in a targeted manner. Research design, data and methodology: Using the case study method, this study conducts in-depth research on the business model of Tesla, a representative enterprise of the new energy automobile industry. This study mainly uses secondary data obtained from the official websites to support our research. Results: With its top-level innovative technology, distinctive marketing model, and extensive strategic model, Tesla holds the largest share of the new energy vehicle market. Local market brands such as BYD and Hyundai-Kia still have a considerable competitive advantage, and there is a need to learn from each other for further development. Conclusions: To adapt to the needs of economic transformation and environmental development, implementing business strategies related to new energy automobile enterprises is a topic worthy of study. Enterprises such as BYD and Hyundai-Kia have unique advantages in their home markets. However, as sustainable development progresses, these advantages will gradually weaken, and further measures are necessary to maintain their competitive advantage.

금융산업의 빅데이터 경영 사례에 관한 연구: 은행의 빅데이터 활용 조직 및 프로세스를 중심으로 (A Study on Big Data-Driven Business in the Financial Industry: Focus on the Organization and Process of Using Big Data in Banking Industry)

  • Purpose - The purpose of this study was to analyze cases of big data-driven business in the financial industry, focusing on organizational structure and business processes using big data in banking industry. Design/methodology/approach - This study used a case study approach. To this end, cases of two banks implementing big data-driven business were collected and analyzed. Findings - There are two things in common between the two cases. One is that the central tasks for big data-driven business are performed by a centralized organization. The other is that the role distribution and work collaboration between the headquarters and business departments are well established. On the other hand, there are two differences between the two banks. One marketing campaign is led by the headquarters and the other marketing campaign is led by the business departments. The two banks differ in how they carry out marketing campaigns and how they carry out big data-related tasks. Research implications or Originality - When banks plan and implement big data-driven business, the common aspects of the two banks analyzed through this case study can be fully referenced when creating an organization and process. In addition, it will be necessary to create an organizational structure and work process that best fit the special situation considering the company's environment or capabilities.

  • E-business로 대표되는 비즈니스의 공간시장(Marketspace)화는 대부분의 산업에 파급되어 새로운 비즈니스 패러다임으로 정착되어 가고 있으나, 해운 및 항만물류와 관련한 산업에는 그 파급속도가 매우 느린 실정이다. 이에 따라 항만물류산업의 e-business화를 위해, 여러 가지 정책과 연구가 적극적으로 추진되어 왔다. 그러나, 대부분의 연구는 해당 산업구조의 통찰없이 매우 일반적인 활성화 정책과 해당사례에만 의존하는 개별적 차원의 방안을 제시하는 정도에 머물러 있다. 게다가, 이러한 새로운 business와 관련한 이론적 근거에 바탕을 둔 연구는 전무한 실정이다. 따라서, 항만물류산업의 e-business화와 관련한 연구는 당장의 활성화방안의 수립에 앞서 오히려, 기반 연구에 해당되는 기초작업이 요구되는 실정이다. 즉, 항만물류산업의 e-business와 관련한 연구는 공간시장화의 파급에 따른 산업계의 구조변화에 대한 면밀한 해석이 선행되어야 하고, 그러한 토대위에 해당 사업의 e-business를 고려하는 수순으로 진행될 필요가 있다. 본 연구는 여기에 주목하여 공간시장화에 따른 항만물류산업 관련 산업구조의 변화에 주목하여, 이론적 근거를 가지고 해당산업계에서 존재할 수 있는 모든 비즈니스 유형들을 체계적으로 분류하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 분류를 위한 이론으로써 본 연구에서는 비즈니스의 계층성과 업계의 가치사슬에 주목한 BL-VC모델을 대표적 항만물류산업중 하나인 선박 급유업에 적용하여, 선박급유업과 관련한 일반화된 분류체계를 수립하고자 한다.

세부사례의 공유 및 교환을 위한 시맨틱 사례기반추론 시스템 온톨로지의 설계 (Ontology Design of Semantic Case Based Reasoning System for the Share and Exchange of Sub-Cases)

  • 사례기반추론은 과거의 사례들로부터 주어진 문제와 가장 유사한 사례를 가져와 이를 현재의 상황에 맞게 변형함으로써 보다 빠르고 효과적으로 문제를 해결하기 위한 방법론이다. 사례기반추론의 가장 중요한 성능의 지표는 사례의 수라고 할 수 있는데, 따라서 사례가 풍부하지 않은 분야에서는 적용하기 어려운 방법이다. 본 논문에서는 이를 극복하기 위해 건설분야를 대상으로 시맨틱 웹을 기반으로 하여 사례를 교환할 수 있는 방안을 제안하였다. 특히 사례를 여러 개의 세부 사례로 분리함으로써 적절한 전체 사례가 없더라도 적절한 세부 사례들을 조합하여 새로운 사례를 만들어낼 수 있도록 하였다. 이를 위하여 온톨로지를 이용하여 사례와 세부 사례의 연결, 세부 사례 단위의 유사도 규칙, 그리고 세부 사례의 조합을 위한 규칙을 표현하였으며 이를 이용하여 웹에서 세부 사례를 요청하고 조합할 수 있는 시스템을 설계 및 구현하였다. 본 연구에서 제안된 시스템은 건설분야를 대상으로 하였으므로 세부 사례로의 분리 및 조합이 건설분야에 제한된다는 점이 있으나, 향후 지속적인 연구를 통해 다른 분야에도 적용될 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

관리보안이 강화된 수익성 최적화 시스템구축 사례연구 (A Case Study of Profit Optimization System Integration with Enhanced Security)

  • Purpose - Due to highly elevated levels of competition, many companies today have to face the problem of decreasing profits even when their actual sales volume is increasing. This is a common phenomenon that is seen occurring among companies that focus heavily on quantitative growth rather than qualitative growth. These two aspects of growth should be well balanced for a company to create a sustainable business model. For supply chain management (SCM) planners, the optimized, quantified flow of resources used to be of major interest for decades. However, this trend is rapidly changing so that managers can put the appropriate balance between sales volume and sales quality, which can be evaluated from the profit margin. Profit optimization is a methodology for companies to use to achieve solutions focused more on profitability than sales volume. In this study, we attempt to provide executional insight for companies considering implementation of the profit optimization system to enhance their business profitability. Research design, data, and methodology - In this study, we present a comprehensive explanation of the subject of profit optimization, including the fundamental concepts, the most common profit optimization logic algorithm -linear programming -the business functional scope of the profit optimization system, major key success factors for implementing the profit optimization system at a business organization, and weekly level detailed business processes to actively manage effective system performance in achieving the goals of the system. Additionally, for the purpose of providing more realistic and practical information, we carefully investigate a profit optimization system implementation case study project fulfilled for company S. The project duration was about eight months, with four full-time system development consultants deployed for the period. To guarantee the project's success, the organization adopted a proven system implementation methodology, supply chain management (SCM) six-sigma. SCM six-sigma was originally developed by a group of talented consultants within Samsung SDS through focused efforts and investment in synthesizing SCM and six-sigma to improve and innovate their SCM operations across the entire Samsung Organization. Results - Profit optimization can enable a company to create sales and production plans focused on more profitable products and customers, resulting in sustainable growth. In this study, we explain the concept of profit optimization and prerequisites for successful implementation of the system. Furthermore, the efficient way of system security administration, one of the hottest topics today, is also addressed. Conclusion - This case study can benefit numerous companies that are eagerly searching for ways to break-through current profitability levels. We cannot guarantee that the decision to deploy the profit optimization system will bring success, but we can guarantee that with the help of our study, companies trying to implement profit optimization systems can minimize various possible risks across various system implementation phases. The actual system implementation case of the profit optimization project at company S introduced here can provide valuable lessons for both business organizations and research communities.

Analyzing Online Fake Business News Communication and the Influence on Stock Price: A Real Case in Taiwan

  • On the Internet age, the news is generated and distributed not only by traditional news media, but also by a variety of online news media, news platforms, content websites/content farms, and social media. Since it is an easy task to create and distribute news, some of these news reports may contain fake or false facts. In the end, the cyberspace is full of fake or false messages. People may wonder if these fake news actually influence our decision making. In this paper, we discussed a real case of fake news. In this case, a Taiwanese company used some fake news, advertorial news, and news placement to manipulate or influence its stock price and trade volume. We collected all news for the case company during a period of four years and five months (from January 2013 to May 2017). We analyzed the relationship between published news and stock price. Based on the analysis results, we conclude that we should not ignore the influence of news placement and fake business news on the stock price.

Fashion Blogging and Personal Style Bloggers: The Evolving Enterprise

  • This study examines existing literature and uses case studies to identify the scope of fashion blogging and the evolving role of the personal style bloggers in the fashion business. Information on six popular personal style bloggers has been gathered to demonstrate the evolving business of these bloggers and their scope of operations that are relevant to fashion. The case of these six bloggers were drawn from popular media publications such as CNN, Wall Street Journal (WSJ), Time, Women's Wear Daily (WWD) and The New York Times. The case study of these six bloggers reveals that these personal style bloggers have used their reach and influence on the blog audience to procure and access business opportunities to grow their enterprise. The findings indicate that affiliation, partnership or collaboration with brands or established designers adds more value to a personal style bloggers resume. However, the findings also indicate that the popular fashion bloggers provide a new opportunity for marketing and promoting fashion brands and products to the younger generation.

공단 기업체의 근무복 디자인 개발 사례 연구 (The Case Study on Design Development of Working Uniform in the Industrial Complex)

  • The purpose of this case study was to design development of Working Uniform in 10 enterprises which were located in Changwon national industrial complex. The 10 enterprises were small-medium business in machinery. For finding actual conditions and preferences by employers, interview with employers was accomplished and their uniforms were collected. The uniforms were analyzed by Design elements ; shapes, colors, details. From the results, working uniforms were designed by each enterprise. The design was suggested CAD work sheets and send to each enterprise. After discussion and correction, design were made in fabric. Total 50 items(winter jacket and pants, spring & fall jacket and pants and summer T-shirts) were made by P/C, P/A and polyester coolon materials. The new designs have worn by the enterprises, now. This case study could be one of academic - industrial relationship cooperation.
