  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the mediating effect of confidence for drug calculation in the relationship between interest in medication and drug calculation competency using learning style. Methods: Participants in this study were 421 nursing students from Busan and Kyungnam province. The scales of learning style, interest in medication, importance of perception, confidence for drug calculation, and drug calculation competency for nursing students were used in this study. Descriptive statistics, $X^2$-test, t-test, Pearson correlation coefficient, and stepwise multiple regression were used for data analysis. Results: Learning styles of the participants were diverger 19.0%, accommodator 30.9%, converger 21.1%, and assimilator 29.0%. The drug dose calculation competency of participants was relatively low with a mean score 66.73. There were significant positive correlations among drug dose calculation competency, interest in medication (r=.31, p<.001), and confidence for drug calculation (r=.44, p<.001). Confidence for drug calculation was a moderator between interests in medication and drug calculation competency. Conclusion: Based on the result of this study, confidence for drug calculation promoting strategy such as medication reconciliation and various learning technology for improving drug calculation competency are needed.

Researchers deep-interviewed the participants and asked using the non-constructed questions. 'What did you experience through home care nursing?'. The results are summarized as follows ; First, there were 196 final meaningful statements in the end and 32 constructed meanings, which were classified into 13 themes. These themes were again divided into four categories such as introduction, development, turn and conclusion. In the 'Introduction' three themes were included as follows ; 'feeling their eyes blinded', 'feeling a burden to have such a patient at home', and so on. In the 'conclusion' consisted of four such as 'finding it worthwhile to take care of them at home despite in the suffocated reality', 'pinning hope on the patient', 'retiring the world at first, but later going outdoors and feeling better', and 'realizing the real meaning of family through the difficult situation'. On the basis of this research results, home care nurses have to include the patients' family among home care clients and gradually change the home care nursing into the positive direction by sensitively responding to their requests.

  • A new leaf blight was found on the perilla leaves at the major perilla-cultivating areas such as Kangdong in Busan and Miryang in Kyungnam province. Symptoms of the disease initially appeared on the edge of perilla leaves showing black necrosis and drying, and the infected leaves were finally fell down. The SD1 isolate showing strong pathogenicity and forming abundant conidial spores on the diseased lesions was isolated. Among the tested media, mycelial growth was abundant on PDA (Potato Dextrose Agar) medium at $25^{\circ}C$ under dark condition, but conidial formation was greater on V8A (V-8 juice A8ar) medium than that on PDA medium. Optimal temperatures for mycelial growth and conidial formation on PDA medium were respectively $25^{\circ}C$ and 3$0^{\circ}C$. The rate of conidial germination and the elongation of germ tube were more effective in 10% tomato juice than those in PDB (Potato Dextrose Broth) and sterile water. In 10% tomato juice, the rate of conidial germination and the length of germ tube were 100% after incubation for 24k and 535.2${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ after incubation for 36hr, respectively. According to the result of pathogenicity, it revealed that conidial suspention with 10% tomato juice was the most effective for pathogenicity test showing as 100% of disease incidence, and the symptoms caused by artificial inoculum were same as those of naturally infected perilla. In this study, the SD1 isolate according to the results of morphological characteristics, the incubation characteristics and pathogenicity was firstly identified A. alternata, and named as leaf blight of perilla.

The subjects were 194 students from four colleges of nursing in P-province in Korea. Data were collected from self-administered questionnaires, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's and Spearman's correlation coefficients. Multiple regression with dummy variables was used for statistical analysis of the data. The results revealed the following scores: self-esteem 3.40±0.53, appearance satisfaction 2.96±0.56, satisfaction with the major 3.80±0.61, and employment stress 2.23±0.75. Significant differences in employment stress according to general characteristics of subjects were observed in gender (t=7.40, p=.007), entering nursing college motivation (F=3.24, p=.023), and college life satisfaction (F=16.722, p<.001). Employment stress showed a negative correlation with self-esteem (r=-.433, p<.001), appearance satisfaction (r=-.307, p<.001), and satisfaction in major (r=-.534, p<.001). The satisfaction with the major (β=-.371, p<.001), self-esteem (β=-.166, p=.026), appearance satisfaction (β=-.132, p=.045), entering nursing college motivation (β=.163, p=.006), and gender (β=.131, p=.033) confirmed as a factors affecting the employment stress and accounted for 35.6% of the variance. Based on the results, it is necessary to develop employment-competency reinforcement programs to increase the level of satisfaction in the major, appearance satisfaction, and self-esteem to reduce the employment stress of nursing college students.
