Step detection using accelerometer sensor on mobile phone

  • Gait analysis through wearable sensors is becoming a key research topic in mobile. In gait analysis, step detection is one of the most important processes that will lay down the foundation for future implementation. In this paper, we will propose a simpler algorithm to determine and analyze the steps using accelerometer sensor built-in mobile phone that physically placed into the trouser pocket. This is the location where most of mobile devices are. With 5 volunteers walking in 160 seconds, the accuracy of this method is approximately 98.5%.

  • Collecting data in wireless sensor networks in minimum time is a traditional problem which is known NP-hard. Previous studies built the schedule using the node-based or link-based metrics to prioritize the transmissions. In this work, we combine the effect of both metrics to obtain a smaller aggregation time. We compare our work with state of the art schemes and report the improvement.

  • 무선 센서 네트워크 기술은 유비쿼터스 컴퓨팅의 핵심 분야로서 그 활용도가 다양해 이와 관련된 많은 연구 개발이 이루어지고 있다. 무선 센서 네트워크는 매우 작은 크기의 독립된 무선 센서들을 물리적 공간에 배치하여 주위의 온도, 빛, 가속도 등의 정보를 무선으로 감지, 관리할 수 있는 기술이다. 본 논문에서는 무선 센서 네트워크의 지속적 환경 데이터 처리의 효율성 및 다중 질의의 처리 성능을 높이기 위해 공간색인 기법을 이용한 다중 질의 색인 처리를 제안, 구현하였다. 다중 질의 색인 시스템은 미리 정의된 다중 질의를 이용하여 색인 구조를 생성하고, 센서 네트워크에서의 센서 데이터를 입력으로 받아서 생성된 색인 구조를 통해 센서 데이터가 해당되는 질의를 출력해 주는 시스템이다. 시스템 구축을 위한 무선 센서 노드로서 Mote 플랫폼 중에서 MICAz와 운영체제인 TinyOS를 이용하여 환경 정보를 탐지하고 다중 질의 색인 처리하였다.

Building Dataset of Sensor-only Facilities for Autonomous Cooperative Driving

  • 본 논문에서는 자율협력주행 인프라를 위해 제작된 8가지 센서 전용 시설물들에 대해 라이다로 취득한 포인트 클라우드 데이터로부터 시설물들의 특징을 추출하여 샘플 데이터셋으로 구축하는 방법을 제안한다. 고휘도 반사지가 부착된 8가지 센서 전용 시설물들과 데이터 취득 시스템을 개발했고, 취득된 포인트 클라우드 데이터로부터 일정한 측정 거리 내에 위치한 시설물들의 특징을 추출하기 위해 포인트 대상의 DBSCAN 방법과 반사강도 대상의 OTSU 방법을 응용하여 추려낸 포인트들에 원통형 투영법을 적용했다. 3차원 포인트 좌표, 2차원 투영 좌표, 그리고 반사강도 등을 해당 시설물의 특징으로 설정했고, 정답 레이블과 함께 데이터셋으로 제작했다. 라이다로 취득한 데이터를 기반으로 구축된 시설물 데이터셋의 효용 가능성을 확인하기 위해서 기본적인 CNN 모델을 선정하여 학습 후 테스트를 진행하여 대략 90% 이상의 정확도를 보여 시설물 인식 가능성을 확인했다. 지속적인 실험을 통해 제시한 데이터셋 구축을 위한 특징 추출 알고리즘의 개선 및 성능 향상과 더불어 이에 적합한 자율협력주행을 위한 센서 전용 시설물을 인식할 수 있는 전용 모델을 개발할 예정이다.

  • It is essential to investigate the structure and the main characteristic of Home USN (Ubiquitous Sensor Network) technologies in built ubiquitous environment while designing bio-sensors. For this study, Thermistor elements and Thermopile black body have been selected to implement ubiquitous technologies for bio-sensors and wireless network such as WiBro has been used to transfer sensing data to the BSN (Bio-Sensor Network) gateway. It is certain that efficiency of ubiquitous space design is improved if main components of each specific sensor network are analyzed precisely in digital way and corresponding communication modules are prepared accordingly. Ubiquitous technology, in conclusion, has to be applied not only with systematical mechanism or electronic setting but in human-centered atmosphere as well, keeping with deep consideration for bio-housing service factors in eco-friendly surrounding.

Electrical Impedance Change due to Contamination at the Contact Interface of Connectors for Automobile Crank Shaft Position Sensor

  • Numerous connectors are used in automobiles for transmission of electrical signals across various electro-mechanical components. The connectors must operate with high reliability in order to minimize failures due to signal degradation. In this work, the effects of contamination at the contact interface of connectors used fur automobile crankshaft position sensor on the impedance change were investigated. An experimental set-up was built to simulate the electrical signal transmitted from the sensor to the engine control unit through a connector. Output from the connector was investigated using connectors contaminated with engine block residues and water droplets. It was found that slight contamination of the connectors could lead to significant signal degradation which can lead to engine failure. Also, the effect of water in the connector altered the signal severely. However, the signal gradually regained the original state as the water evaporated from the interface.

  • Wireless sensors are more favorable in measuring structural response compared to conventional sensors. This is because they are easier to use with no issues with cables and are considerably cheaper. There are several applications that can be used in recording and analyzing data from MEMS sensor installed on an iPhone. The Vibration App is one of the applications used and there has not been adequate research conducted in analyzing the performance of this App. This paper analyzed the performance of the Vibration App by comparing it with the performance of an ICP sensor. Results show that natural frequency results are more accurate (error less than 5%) in comparison to the amplitude results. This means that built- in MEMS sensor in smartphones are good at estimating natural frequency of structures. In addition, it was seen that the results became more accurate at higher frequencies (5.0Hz and 10.0Hz).

  • This paper describes a characteristics of MFL according to the position of Hall sensor Magnetic Flux Leakage(MFL) Method is used to detect surface defect in ferromagnetic plate. A plate has a surface defect and magnetizing equipment are producted to perform Non-Destructive Testing(NDT) using MFL. The SM 45C carbon steel plate is adopted to this experiment. there is a artifical defect with a twice of thickness and a half of depth of plate. Magnetizing equipment is composed of yoke made by layer-built of silicon sheet steel, NdFeB magnetic and iron brushes. Detecting defect is performed by MFL NDT using Hall sensor. It is shown that magnetic flux detected by Hall sensor is affected according to the position of Hall sensor through MFL experiment and numerical analysis.

  • With a newly designed capacitive torque sensor a multipurpose magnetometer for measuring basic magnetic characteristics such as hyteresis loops, magnetic anisotropy and magnetostriction was built. In order to calibrate the capacitive torque sensor, we measured the output voltages of the sensor by applying the torques due to the electromagnetic and gravitational forces. Experimental results of the several calibration method for the capacitive torque sensor showed good agreement within 3 %.

코어 변화에 대한 자계 특성 (Magnetic Field Properties About Core Change)

  • In this paper, it tried to develop the core sensor for detection of micro magnetic field in electric wires. The sensor is non contact type and is consisted of ferrite core for low price. To investigate their properties for variations of current, it changed the number of winding and the length of sample core, it examined, to check the live wire situation in built-in wires, electrical characteristics due to difference between electric wires and core sensor. As the results, it verified live wire situation at the number of winding(5,000) and within length of 6[cm]. Also, it obtained magnetic field magnitude decreased inverse proportion ratio to a square about difference between electric wires and core sensor.
