자산형성프로그램을 이용한 저소득가정의 탄력성 형성 과정에서의 가정자원 관련 경험 (Experiences of Family Resources in Resilience Development Process for Low-Income Families Participating in Asset Building Program)

  • This study examines the effect of family resources on low-income families by exploring their holistic experience of poverty to the formation of resilience. A grounded theory approach is utilized to structure process from their experience of poverty as well as the use of social welfare services to the formation of resilience. This study targets 17 families involved in the pilot project for the beneficiaries of an asset building program in Seoul. In accordance with open coding and a paradigm model by the result of axial coding, 86 concepts, 23 sub-category, and nine categories are produced. These categories are classified into the causal condition (a tough life due to poverty), contextual condition (being the recipient of an asset building program), intervening conditions (interpersonal resources and effects of accumulated time or experience), central phenomenon (a will to live and overcome poverty), actions/interactions (active behavior and change of attitude), and consequences (change of asset levels and increased efficacy in their lives). The integrating categories identify the core category as 'the process of making a resilient life out of the power to live' and a final process model is organized. The results suggest crucial implications to develop comprehensive policies to address poverty issues for low-income families with a strength-based approach.

Investigation of school building microclimate using advanced energy equipment: Case study

  • Buildings are responsible of major energy consumption globally. In addition, they are linked to thermal comfort. The need to provide comfort becomes more crucial in schools as they are the place where students learn, and develop their skills. This research aims to investigate the energy responsiveness of new and traditional school building design, where major variation in form, amount of external walls and glazing are different. The research focused on indoor microclimate condition of selected schools in the city of Jeddah where the climate is hot and humid using advanced tools for monitoring. The research uses advanced energy equipment to measure several aspects such as floor temperature, roof temperature, globe temperature and other factors which can lead to predictable thermal comfort of users. The findings suggest that a larger area of glazing shielded from sunlight has a greater influence on both indoor condition and general thermal sensation. The finding also suggests that the glazing ratio is a major contributor on indoor thermal pattern which can result in an increase in temperature profile between from $7-10^{\circ}C$. The findings of this research can assist in the improvement in the design of the prototype school building in hot and humid climate.

  • Building Integrated PV(BIPV) is one of the best fascinating PV application technologies. To apply PV module in building, various factors should be reflected such as installation position, shading, temperature, and so on. Especially the installation condition should be considered, for the generation performance of PV module is changed or the generation loss is appeared according to installation position, method, and etc. This study investigates variation of electrical characteristics of a PV module according to the change of irradiance and temperature. From this experimental study, we confirmed that the irradiance, the temperature variation and the generation performance of a PV module were appeared differently according seasonal variation. Actually the PV module installed in building facade showed high-generation performance in winter.

  • The theoretical bases on characteristics of heat release rate in compartment of building for scenario of smoke management are introduced and the numerical applications to simple compartment model are carried out. The growth stage which is important for smoke management design is modelled as t-squared fire curve including fire growth coefficient with related to growth rate. The conditions for the happening of flashover is presented such as $600^{\circ}C$ of temperature or $20kW/m^2$ of radiation heat flux. After the flashover happen, the fire in compartment changes to fully developed fire having the characteristics of ventilation-controlled fire. As the result of numerical analysis to simple compartment model, the time to reach 900K under ceiling for condition of medium growth is twice for condition of fast growth.

Experimental study on wave forces to offshore support structures

  • In this study, wave force tests were carried out for the four types of offshore support structures with scale factor 1:25 and wave forces to the support structure shapes were investigated. As the results of this study, it was found that, as the wave period increased at the normal wave condition, wave force decreased for the most cases. Extreme wave force was affected by the impact wave force. Impact wave force of this study significantly effect on Monopile and slightly on GBS and Hybrid type. Accordingly, Hybrid type indicated even lower wave force at the extreme and irregular wave conditions than the Monopile although Hybrid type indicated higher wave force at the normal wave condition of the regular wave because of the larger wave area of wave body. In respects of the structural design, since critical loading is extreme wave force, it should be contributed to improve structural safety of offshore support structure. However, since the impact wave force has nonlinearity and complication dependent on the support structure shape, wave height, wave period, and etc., more research is needed to access the impact wave force for other support structure shapes and wave conditions.

자연 기화식 가습기와 초음파 가습기의 PM10 제거성능 (A Study on the Removal Performance of PM10 by the Air-washer and the Ultrasonic Humidifier)

  • The purpose of this study is to evaluate the PM10 removal efficiencies of an Air-washer and an Ultrasonic humidifier by mock-up experiments. The concentrations of PM10 were measured at 5 minute intervals using $\beta$-Ray method. The average PM10 removal efficiency of the Air-washer was 79.8%, while the PM10 concentrations increased with the operation of Ultrasonic humidifier. In the case of operating the Air-washer, the R.H(Relative Humidity) level of the test room was maintained at around 45%, regardless of initial R.H condition. The R.H of the test room with Ultrasonic humidifier was influenced by the initial R.H condition.

자주식 휠체어 접근성 실태에 기반한 대학 건물 3차원 접근성맵 제작 - 충북대학교 사례를 중심으로 - (3D Accessibility Map Development for College Buildings Based on Assessment of Manual Wheelchair Users' Accessibility - Focused on Cases of in Chungbuk National University -)

  • The purpose of this study was to evaluate accessibility condition of buildings in a college from manual wheel chair users' perspective in order to suggest improvements, and to develop 3D accessibility maps in order to assist manual wheelchair users' prior planning for the building use. In May 2020, on-site investigation was held to three buildings in Chungbuk National University. Major findings were as follows. (1) There were some building entrances that showed level difference over 2cm without proper ramp with slow slope 1/8 or less. (2) Some rooms were found to have accessibility issues to have floors with height more than 2cm, and/or to have no height-adjustable desks. (3) Although accessible restrooms were in good condition for manual wheelchair users' access and use, it is suggested to install accessible restroom for each gender in each floor for better access. Using the study results, 2-dimensional accessibility maps for each floor were developed in color and grayscale, which were further developed into 3-dimensional accessibility maps for each building.

패스트트랙 환경에서 FAB신축을 지원하는 BIM기반 AR 시스템 개발 (AR system for FAB construction management using BIM data under fast track condition)

  • New Fabrication Facility (FAB) construction is performed with Building Information Modeling (BIM) based design. The BIM design data keep updated during the FAB construction. To improve fast-track construction management, a Fabrication Facility Augmented Reality (FABAR) was developed. This study introduces a FABAR system development process and shows performance evaluation results of the FABAR prototype system. The FABAR is implemented with three major modules: Augmented Reality (AR) visualization unit (Room-box) to transfer big BIM data to AR data, AR registration and tracking unit to match AR with real scape and to keep AR coordination in real, and AR data management unit to enhance usability. The prototype performance results were as follows: visualization of design BIM data via AR within 24 hours, precise AR registration and tracking registration, and appropriate usability to support FAB construction management at site. The results indicate that the FABAR is applicable for FAB construction management. Especially, the BIM data transformation method using Room-box in this study signifies a new construction management approach using fluctuating BIM design data in the fast track construction condition.

도시형생활주택의 범죄예방환경설계 측면에서 본 주거환경 실태조사에 관한 연구 - 서울시 관악구 원룸형 주택 1인가구 5개를 중심으로- (The Actual Condition investigation of Residental Environment of Urban Life-Type Housing Regarding Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design -Focused on Five Single Households in studio-type housings in Gwanak-gu, Seoul Urban Life-Type Housing-)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to be performed with studio-type housings among urban life-type housings to investigate the physical characteristic and crime-related factors of studios from the viewpoint of the basic principles of crime prevention through environmental design (CPTED). Method: Eight CPTED guidelines available in Korea were reviewed to select 20 planing factors for actual condition investigation. Five single households in studio-type housings in Gwanak-gu, Seoul, were chosen according to the subject screening criteria to perform the actual condition investigation. Results: First, a lighting plan around a building for natural surveillance should consider the building location, relation with the front road, and surrounding facilities. In a building of a piloti structure, the parking lot and the building gate should be arranged in a manner that enables natural surveillance. Second, the shape of the corridors in studio-type housings should be considered to plan the installation of a lighting at the door of each household, the installation of a viewer window at the door of each household, and the arrangement of the elevator. Third, to support access control, an access control system having the function of video and voice communication is recommended to be installed at the building gate. Criteria for the type of security windows and the floors on which security windows should be installed, and the regulations about the CCTV installation inside and outside the building should be prepared. Fourth, to enhance territoriality in parking lots, ground patterns, parking lot gate, and signs may be installed. Fifth, in view of effective utilization and maintenance, lighting facilities should be installed to increase the usability of ground parking lots, and relevant installation criteria should be prepared regarding the type, number, and brightness of the lightings.

사무소 건물의 외피요소가 냉난방 및 조명에너지 소비에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Effect of Envelope Factors on Cooling, Heating and Lighting Energy Consumption in Office Building)

  • The objective of this study is to perform an analysis of the heat(heating and cooling) and lighting energy consumption according to the window area ratio and the application of horizontal louver, which is external shading device installed for the purpose of energy savings in office buildings. For this, a building was chosen as a typical example, and the heat and lighting energy consumption was calculated by using the daylight and building energy analysis simulation. The results showed that the total energy consumption, when the lighting control was applied, was reduced by an average of 11.49[%] compared to when there was no lighting control. The smaller the glazing ratio is, the less the total energy consumption is. Also, the application of the horizontal louver increases the total energy consumption under the same condition of glazing ratio.
