  • Since data-driven building technologies have been widely applied to building energy systems, the accuracy of building sensors has more impacts on the building performance and system performance analysis. Various building sensors, however, can have typical errors including a random error (noise) and a systematic error (bias). The systematic error is indicated by the difference between the mean of measurements and their true value. It may occur due to the sensor's physical condition, measured phenomena, working environments inside the systems. Unfortunately, a conventional calibration method has limitations in calibrating the systematic errors because of the difference between working environments and calibration conditions. In such situations, a novel sensor calibration method is needed to handle various sensor errors, especially for systematic errors, in building energy systems having various thermodynamic environments. This study proposes a building sensor calibration method named Virtual In-situ Calibration (VIC) and shows how it is applied into a real building system and how it solves the sensor errors.

  • Recently, many studies are performed according to increased interests about factory or room acoustics. In this study, the inside and environmental noise conditions of Diesel-locomotive load test building were investigated by multi-channel noise measurement system. In addition to this, the mitigation effects of environmental noise from this test building were analyzed using commercial software.

  • Building destruction can be occurred by decreasing of structural stability and deformation according to fire. Especially, a structural behavior of beam can be shown a slightly difference by beam types. In this paper, an evaluation of the structural stability of beam made of ordinary structural steel designed by fixed and simple boundary condition was done by an analytic method using mechanical properties of SS 400 and an heat transfer theory.

공동주택 구성재의 경제적 수선형태 설정 연구 (A Study on the Economic Repair Pattern of the Building Components in the Apartment Housing)

  • Building components have been deteriorated by various factors such as location, a building type, a surrounding environment and so on. In addition, each component has a peculiar characteristics, compared with other components in properties of matter an used part. Building components would be required to maintain its function and performance to provide the resident with a decent living condition. It is important to decide the repair time, scope and a required cost in repair plan, considering the each component's characteristics. In this parer, it aimed at providing the economic repair pattern to analyze the relation of the time-elapse and the cumulative repair cost in the apartment housing using 3rd quadratic function. Results of the study are as follows: First, the shape of the function for the economic repair is classified into two type. One is the continuous increase type of the cumulative cost which properly means the iterative repair type after built. The other is that the function has the maximum state at a point which means one-repair after its repair would be delayed to a scheduled time. Second, the iterative repair pattern would include window, roof proof, lighting and water supply pipe. The other repair pattern would include the paintings, heating pipe and sign board.

  • This paper focused on the daylighting performance of residential high-rise buildings in South-Korea. the purpose of this study is to estimate the visual environment of sunlight coming into opening according to sky conditions, orientation of windows and each space of Apartment buildings. Season of the year, weather, and time of day combine with predictable movement patterns of the sun to create highly variable and dynamic daylighting conditions. Daylighting design is usually based on the dominant sky condition and the micro-climate for the building site. There are three common sky conditions: clear sky, overcast sky, and partly cloudy sky. The clear sky includes sunshine and is intense and brighter at the horizon than at the zenith, except in the area around the sun. Daylight received within a building is directly dependent upon the sun's position and the atmospheric conditions. Easily used charts, diagrams, and software programs allow study of solar geometry for any geographic location and time of day. on the other hand, the overcast sky is characterized by diffuse and variable levels of light and has dense cloud cover over 90% of the sky. This paper was calculated by a Desktop Radiance program. The space dimensions were based on a unit module of real constructed apartment having divided into five sections such as living room, room1, room2, room3 and kitchen.

열회수형 환기장치의 운전조건에 따른 경제성 평가에 관한 연구 (A Cost Analysis of the Heat Recovery Ventilator under Various Condition)

  • Changes in building construction methods and repairing of older buildings have reduced infiltration rate. Synthetic materials, release airborne particles and uneven healthy odor are increased. For preventing pollutants introduce fresh outdoor air into the building, simply letting fresh outdoor air into building, however, Is not a cost-effective way to ventilation. When additional ventilation is added to an existing HVAC system, the heating and cooling equipment, often cannot handle the increased load. A HRV provides a way to minimize in energy costs while introducing fresh air to a building. In this study, the economical research of HRV, made of three types of materials, are conducted. Heat recovering characteristics are studied at seasonal outdoor air conditions based on the outdoor air property condition at, Seoul in 2002. As a results, the average sensible effectiveness is 0.75 in the sensible heat exchanger and average total effectiveness is 0.65 in the total heat exchanger. The pay back period of the sensible heat exchangers are $3.2{\sim}3.5$ year and it of total heat exchanger is 2.2 years.

  • The decision of the Form removal time which leads the early assuring strength of the concrete from Apartment construction is the fact which is important from Reducing the period of works and the economical efficiency side. Especially, with Complex building of recent times the same Tall building and Multiple Apartment Site which only follows in upgrade of interior construction of apartment site and shortening the frame construction period becomes very, importantly is the actual condition where the effort which is various for this is attempted. But is caused by with limit and economical efficiency problem of case concrete early strength revelation of most and is not put to practical use is the actual condition. Develops concrete mixture which is a utility from the research which sees hereupon and the effect which is economic leads construction duration shortening under maximizing boil.

건축설비 관련 현황과 교육면에서의 개선방향 고찰 (A Study on Present Condition and Educational Improvement Plan of Building Services System)

  • The education of building services field at university is not enough, although the field has become to be very important in architectural engineering. This lack of education is one of the reason that the level of domestic building services field is lower than that in developed countries. Present conditions of related laws, fields of work after graduation and education at university in building services field have been studied, and education conditions have been investigated divided into four-year architectural engineering course and five-year architecture course. Though building services field has become more important at university education, the number of credits and professor of the field is still small than other fields of architectural engineering. More practical curriculums are necessary to meet the expectation of companies, and it will be one of the method to meet it that criteria of curriculum constitution is according to ABEEK(Accreditation Board for Engineering Education of Korea) in more architectural engineering department.

  • Currently a large number of high rise building projects are under plan and a mega foundation system to support this high load with safety is requiring. The foundation of a highrise building is displaced by the building load, which influence the behavior of a super structure in reverse. In this aspect, the structural interaction analysis between a foundation and a super structure is necessary. In this study, the relationship of a superstructure of building and a foundation has been reviewed, considering the tendency of design from a capacity driven design to a performance design. Two different case studies have been introduced to help understand this relationship in more specific, the first case is the high rise building founded on a mat system on rock and the second is that on large diameter bored piles on soft ground condition.

Building Facilities Management Using the Condition Prediction Process: A Case Study of Fiberglass Doors

  • In the last decades, Facility Management (FM) has established itself as a key building service factor.FM includes supporting services and organizing functions essential for maintaining, operating and managing physical component and material. The purpose of the paper is to develop an economical analysis for building facilities management during its service life based on limited cost. This method helps to facilities managers and engineers to make better decisions for reducing of facilities assessment costs and increasing the facilities' service life. This paper presents the preliminary development of a model involves three stages process namely data collection, economic computation and economic process optimization. This process was tested for fiberglass doors example in a building interior and exterior system. If executives can manage essential points effectively and make decisions according to a key performance index, cost can be optimized and safety can be enhanced for installation building.
