고속적층조형법에서 최적 적층방향의 자동결정 (The Automatic Determination of the Optimal Build-Direction in Rapid Prototyping)

  • Rapid Prototyping(RP) is the technique which is used to make prototypes or functional parts directly using the 3-D solid data. Before building the prototype, several processes such as transfering 3D data from CAD system(STL) determination of build-direction, adding support structure and slicing are required. Among the above processes. determination of build-direction is the target of this study. The build direction is determined by many factors according to the objective of the user, like part accuracy, number of support structure, build time, amount of trapped volume, etc, But it is not easy to determine the build-direction because there are many factors and some factors have dependent properties with one another. So, in this study the part accuracy, the number of support structures and build time are considered as the main factor to determine the optimal build-direction. To determine the optimal build-direction for increasing part accuracy, sum of projected area which caused stairstepping effect was considered. The less the projected area is the better part accuracy is About the optimal build-direction to minimize the amount of support structure, sum of projected area of facets that require support structures was considered. About the build time, we considered the minimum height of part we intended. About the build time, we considered the minimun height of part we intended to make.

Multi-Jet Modeling 3차원 프린트를 위한 표면거칠기와 제작시간의 저감을 위한 모델 분할제작 (Reduction of Surface Roughness and Build Time with Model Splitting Method for Multi-Jet Modeling 3D Printer Parts)

  • 3D printers are widely used to verify the designs in the early stage of product development, and are required to have short build time. However, the build time is still too long for a quick design review for engineers. This research focuses on how to split the prototype in order to reduce the build time and improve surface roughness. In order to verify the feasibility of prototype splitting, the build time and the roughness have been experimentally measured for various parts and build orientations. Based on the experimental results an expert system was developed for splitting the original CAD mod el by using an efficient splitting method. It can recommend a splitting plane based on build time, surface roughness and the number of divided parts. It is shown that the model splitting reduces the build time significantly and improves surface quality wit bout rough surfaces where the support was removed.

  • 본 논문은 변형성과 재 사용성이 우수한 컴포넌트 기반의 어플리케이션 서버 플랫폼을 구현하는데 필수적인 기술인, 워크플로우 관리 기술의 Built-Time 부분의 설계 및 구현을 다룬다. 워크 플로우 관리 시스템의 기능은 크게 Build-Time 부분과 Run-Time 부분으로 나누어서지는데, Build-Time 부분은 워크플로우프로세스를 사용하기 전에 정의하는 관점에서 기능을 수행하고 Run-Time 부분은 설정된 워크플로우 프로세스 정의에 따라 프로세스를 실제로 동작시키는 관점에서 기능을 수행한다. Run-Time 부분은 워크플로우 관리 시스템의 핵심 부분인 워크플로우 엔진 모듈을 포함하고 있다. 본 논문은 Build-Time 부분을 다룬다. 본 논문에서는 우리가 구현한 워크플로우 관리 시스템의 다양한 형태의 프로세스를 지원하는 프로세스 정의 모델과 그에 대한 XML 구조의 설계 및 프로세스 정의에 대한 객체를 설계하고 구현하였다.

  • In the stereolithography process, build parameters are laser power, scan velocity, scan width, bean diameter, layer thickness and so on. These values are determined according to product accuracy and build time. Build time can be reduced by improving of scan velocity, laser power, layer thickness, hatching space and so on. But variation of these parameters influence part accuracy, surface roughness, strength. This paper observed cure properties in various beam diameter. In order to examine these, relationships of scan velocity and cure depth, scan velocity and cure width according to various beam diameter in one scan line are measured. And cure thickness is measured according to beam diameter and scan velocity in scan surface of one layer. For reduction of build time, beam diameter and scan velocity is proposed in stereolithography process.

염소이온 노출개시시기를 고려한 기존 확산계수 모델 수정제안 (Chloride Diffusion Coefficient Model Considering the Initiation Time of Exposure to Chloride Environment)

  • ACI life-365 기준확산계수 모델은 NT build 443 방법에 의한 시험 결과들로부터 만들어졌다. 이 방법은 침지기간 동안의 시간평균 확산계수를 구하는 방법이므로 ACI에서는 침지기간 동안의 시간평균 확산계수를 기준확산계수로 정의한 것이다. ACI 모델에서는 재령에 따른 감소효과를 지수함수 형태로 표현하고 있으므로 이를 고려한 ACI 기준확산계수 모델의 수정이 필요하다. 이를 위해 본 연구에서는 염소이온 노출개시기를 고려한 확산방정식의 해석해를 유도하고, 이를 사용하여 NT build 443 방법의 시간평균 확산계수를 기준재령의 확산계수로 변환하였다. 연구결과 life-365 기준확산계수 모델은 기존 값 보다 10% 정도 증가되고 수정되어야 함을 밝혔으며, 이에 따라 NT build 443 방법과 NT build 492 방법의 기존관계를 수정하여 내구수명 평가에 이용할 수 있도록 하였다. JCI 확산계수모델과 ACI 확산계수모델의 직접적인 비교를 위하여 JCI 확산계수모델에 대응하는 기준확산계수를 유도하였으며, 이를 통해 JCI 모델보다 ACI 모델이 더 보수적인 결과를 나타내는 것을 확인하였다.

  • Overhead transmission lines are completely exposed to the environment. This causes faults in transmission lines due to natural environmental conditions. In some cases, transmission towers are damaged by typhoons and snow, as well as sleet on the transmission lines. It takes a lot of time to repair the damaged towers. For emergency restoration purposes, steel poles are installed to temporarily supply power. Before 2003, emergency restoration steel poles were made of angled steel, which required a large number of beams, bolts, etc. In addition, the foundation of the steel pole and ground wire was constructed using excavation and burial methods, therefore it required a lot of manpower and time to construct temporary transmission lines. In September 2003, typhoon Maemi, whose maximum wind speed was 60m/s, hit Korea. 'Maemi' destroyed transmission lines in the Busan and Geojea area, causing long blackouts. To reduce the recovery time to the damaged transmission lines, self-build based emergency towers were developed. self-build based emergency towers reduced recovery time from 24 hours to 4 hours or less. However, the self-build based emergency tower had no arms, so the temporary transmission lines could only be constructed without curves in line routes. In this paper, solving these self-build based emergency tower limitations, using insulated arms(designed for use with the self-build based emergency tower), shall be explained.

SLA를 이용한 신속 시작작업에서 최적 성형방향의 결정 (Determination of Optimal Build-up Direction for Stereolithographic Rapid Prototyping)

  • Stereolithography is a process used to rapidly produce polymer components directly form a computer representation of the part. There are several considerations to be made for the efficient use of the process. Especially, the build-up orientation of part critically affects the part accuracy, total build time and the volume of support structures. The purpose of tis study is to determine the optimal build-up part orientation for the SLA process with improving part accuracy, and minimizing total build time and the volume of support structures. The forst factor is related to the area of surfaces whioch have staircase protrusions after solidification, the second factor is related to the total number of layers, and the third factor is related to the area of the surfaces which need to be supported with support structures. An algorithm is developed to calculate the staircase area, quantifying the process errors by the volume of materials supposed to be removed or added to the part, and the optimal layer thickness for the SLA system which can handle the variable layer thickness. So the optima l part orientation is determined based on the user's selections of primary criter- ion and the optimal thickness of layers is calculated at any part orientations.

  • In hard disk drives as the head to disk spacing continues to decrease to facilitate recording densities, slider disk interactions have become much more severe due to direct contact of head and disk surfaces in both start/stop and flying cases. The slider disk interaction in CSS (contact-start-stop) mode is an important source of particle generation and tribocharge build-up. The tribocharge build-up in the slider disk interface can cause ESD (electrostatic discharge) damage. In turn, ESD can cause severe melting damage to MR or GMR heads. The spindle speed of typical hard disk drives has increased in recent years from 5400 rpm to 15000 rpm and even higher speeds are anticipated in the near future. And the increasing disk velocity leads to increasing disk acceleration and this might affect the tribocharging phenomena of the slider/disk interface. We investigated the tribocurrent/voltage build-up generated in HDD, operating at increasing disk accelerations. In addition, we examined the effects with relative humidity conditions and rest time. We found that the tribocurrent/voltage was generated during pico-slider/disk interaction and its level was about $3\sim16pA$ and $0.1\sim0.3V$, respectively. Tribocurrent/voltage build-up was reduced with increasing disk acceleration. Higher humidity conditions $(75\sim80%)$ produced lower levels tribovoltage/current. Therefore, a higher tribocharge is expected at a lower disk acceleration and lower relative humidity condition. Rest time affected the charge build-up at the slider-disk interface. The degree of tribocharge build-up increased with increasing rest time.

STL File 슬라이싱 높이 조정에 따른 주사경로 생성시간 저감에 관한 연구 - 소형 보석류에 적용 (The Study on Reduction of Scanning Path Build Time According to Control of STL file Slicing Height - Application of Small Jewellery)

  • This paper addresses the correlation between the change of file size and the scanning path build time by the slicing height of STL file. Though the study about STL file has been achieved quite actively scanning path build time using STL file is not investigated so much to be satisfied. The file size depends on the number of polygon created by the slicing height specified. And this number of polygons increases in a regular rate. The correlation between the number of polygons and the scanning path build time is examined and verified.

  • This paper is described manufacturing to jewelry by using rapid prototype. At that time, the SLC file is useful for solved generating errors to part build file. Then. we have reduced the time of manufacturing complicated three-dimensional form. Generally, it is used the STL file for rapid prototype that it is necessary to considerable time when complicated firm as jewelry generated pan build file. But the SLC file is solved to problem because it consists of configuration of a section. Neter the less, Generating Part build file hate had a lot of problem when the SLC file is used.
