Electro-mechanical field analysis of Brushless DC motor due to the driving methods (구동방식에 따른 브러시리스 직류 전동기의 기전 연성 특성 해석)

  • This paper analyzes the electro-mechanical characteristics of the spindle motor in a computer hard disk drive due to the trapezoidal and sinusoidal driving methods. The driving circuit equation is modified by considering the switching action of PWM inverter, and is coupled with the Maxwell equation for the analysis of the magnetic field. Mechanical motion of a rotor is calculated by solving Newton-Euler equation. Electro-mechanical excitation and dynamic response are characterized by analyzing the free response of a rotating rotor and Fourier analysis of the excitation force.

  • This paper presents a new method on reducing commutation torque ripples generated in brushless dc motor drives. In such drives the current ripples are generated by motor inductance in stator windings and the back EMF. The ripples suppression techniques that are practically effective in high speed as well as in low speed regions are rarely found. The proposed method here is based on a strategy that the commutation intervals of the incoming ang the outgoing phases can be equalized by a proper PWM control. The controller is implemented by a 16-bit microprocessor and effectiveness of the proposed control method is verified through experiments.

  • The PID type controller has been widely used in industrial application doc to its simply control structure, ease of design and inexpensive cost. However control performance of the PID type controller suffers greatly from high uncertainty and nonlinearity of the system, large disturbances and so on. This paper presents a hybrid fuzzy logic proportional plus conventional integral derivative controller (Fuzzy P+ID). In comparison with a conventional PID controller, only one additional parameter has to be adjusted to tune the Fuzzy P+ID controller. In this case, the stability of a system remains unchanged after the PID controller is replaced by the Fuzzy P+ID controller without modifying the original controller parameters. Finally, the proposed hybrid Fuazy P+ID controller is applied to BLDC motor drive. Simulation results demonstrated that the control performance of the proposed controlled is better than that of the conventional controller.

  • A ferrite bonded magnet type brushless DC (BLDC) motor which do not have rotor core is analyzed by using finite element method (FEM). The magnetization distribution of the magnet does not have only parallel or radial direction. So, the direction and intensity are taken into account by the analysis of the magnetization procedure. The validity of the analysis method is verified by comparing the analyzed results with measured ones.

  • In this paper, a novel motor control method is proposed to improve the performance of sensorless drive of BLDC motors. The unknown input (back-EMF) is modelled as the additional state of system in this paper. Taking into account the disturbance adopted by the back-EMF, the observer can be obtained by the augmented system equation. An algorithm to detect the back-EMF of the BLDC motor using the state observer is constructed. As a result, the novel sensorless drive of BLDC motors that can strictly estimate rotor position and speed is proposed.

  • This Paper presents a speed controller based on the adaptive fuzzy tuning method for brushless DC(BLDC) motor drives under load variations. Generally, the speed tracking control systems use PI controller due to its simple structure and easy of design. PI controller, however, suffers from the electrical machine parameter variations and disturbances. In order to improve the tracking control performance under load variations, PI controller of which the parameters are modified during operation by adaptive fuzzy tuning method. This method based on optimal fuzzy logic system has simple structure and computational simplicity. It needs only sample data which is obtained by optimal controller off-line. As the sample data implemented in the adaptive fuzzy system can be modified or extended, a flexible control system can be obtained. Simulation results show the usefulness of the proposed controller.

  • The BLDCM (Brushless DC Motor) characterized by linear torque to current, and speed to voltage has low acoustic noise, and fast dynamic response. Moreover, it has high power density with high proportion of torque to inertia in spite of small size drive. But, it produce torque ripple due to the motor inductance components in stator windings and back-EMF, when armature current is commutated. Therefore, it is difficult to apply the BLDCM to a precision servo drive system. In this paper is proposed to a new current control algorithm with using fourier series coefficients can minimize torque ripple due to the phase current commutation of BLDCM. Simulation and Experimental results prove the effectiveness the proposed algorithm through comparison with the conventional used unipolar PWM method.

  • This paper presents the characteristics of current harmonics and torque ripple of Brushless DC motor, which is developed the fan blower of vehicles, according to input voltage waveform. To investigate the torque ripple and the phase current harmonics, these characteristics is analysed and compared the experimental results. In the process of analysis, FEM is introduced and computed a transient state torque of BLDC with a sinusoidal and a PWM wave voltage.

  • Due to low cost and high reliability, Brushless DC (BLDC) motors have been widely used in control applications such as robotics, aerospace and automobile. In the high performance control systems, it is very important to maintain the desired speed even in the face of parameter uncertainties, modeling errors, and disturbance signals. In this paper, we present an $H_{\infty}$ controller for the speed control of BLDC motors to achieve better performance of disturbance rejection. In particular, we discuss how to reduce an initial peaks of control input in the proposed $H_{\infty}$ controller. Some experimental results are provided to establish the effectiveness of the proposed method.

  • This paper deals with design and characteristic analysis of Brushless DC (BLDC) motor using fuel-pump. First, we derived design factor from simplified design characteristic equation. Second, we decided design parameter from design factor using finite element analysis (FEA). Finally, analyze characteristics for BLDC using FEA according to load condition.
