플라스틱 커플러를 채용한 프로젝션 TV의 휘도저감 (Brightness Degradation of Projection TV with Plastic Coupler)

  • 일반적으로 프로젝션 TV의 냉각을 위해서는 알루미늄 커플러와 냉매를 사용한다. 본 연구에서는 비용절감의 차원에서 플라스틱 커플러를 사용하는 경우, 냉각성능 저감에 따른 휘도저감의 문제에 대해 연구하였다. 형광체의 밝기와 온도변화와의 관계를 조사하고, 프로젝션 TV 내 CRT의 온도분포를 유한요소법을 이용하여 해석하였다. 이러한 결과로부터 플라스틱 커플러를 채용하는 프로젝션 TV의 휘도저감을 예측할 수 있었다.

PDP 형광체의 진공 자외선 조사에 따른 열화 특성 (Degradation of PDP Phosphors Under VUV Excitation)

  • $(Y,Gd)BO_3$: Eu, $Zn_2$$SiO_4$ : Mn and $BaMgAl_{10}$ $O_{17}$ : Eu phosphors used in PDP were continuously irradiated by vacuum ultra violet generated from the penning gas (96%Ar+4%Xe) discharge and then the change of emitting intensity with time was investigated. The brightness of these phosphors decreased exponentially with VUV excitation time. The experimental data showed that the degradation rate increased in the order of $Zn_2$$SiO_4$ : Mn>(Y,Gd)$BO_3$: Eu>$BaMgAl_{10}$ $O_{17}$ : Eu phosphor. This different degradation property of phosphors was interpreted in terms of brightness saturation and stability against VUV irradiation. It was found that the degradation property of $(Y,Gd)BO_3$ : Eu red phosphor synthesized by ultrasonic thermal spray was superior to commercial phosphor.

  • Almost all 3D displays have a brightness reduction in the 3D mode comparing to the 2D mode. When the brightness is reduced, one of the color attributes, the colorfulness, is decreased. In this case, the viewer feels that the image quality is deteriorated. In this paper, we proposed a method to compensate for the degradation of colorfulness due to brightness reduction in 3D mode for high quality 3D image viewing using the CIECAM02 model and the color correction matrix. As a result of applying the proposed method, we can confirm that the colorfulness is improved in 3D mode.

  • This paper demonstrates that it is feasible to evaluate forest degradation and to detect deforestation in the 8156$km^2$ study area affected by expand farming using vegetation indices derived from Landsat TM data. The NDVI-growing stock relation was applied on th Landsat TM data and a 3 second grid DEM, whose coverages could improve the assessment of forest degradation and also estimate the rate of change of forest cover area depending on elevation intervals. The strength of the relationship between the ratio of the greenness and brightness indices and forest degradation conditions would have been more interesting in the deforested areas which were converted to crop farming land.

자연스러운 영상의 평균 밝기 유지를 위한 차별적 압축 방법 기반의 분할 히스토그램 평활화 (Bi-Histogram Equalization based on Differential Compression Method for Preserving the Trend of Natural Mean Brightness)

  • 일반적인 히스토그램 평활화는 화질향상을 위한 명암대비 향상 효과가 뛰어나다. 하지만 과도한 밝기 값의 변화가 나타나기 때문에 영상의 평균밝기가 프레임 단위로 변화하는 TV와 같은 동영상 응용분야에 적용하기에는 부적합하다. 이러한 단점을 해결하기 위하여 히스토그램 평활화의 변형된 방법에 대한 다양한 연구가 이루어져 왔다. 그러나 기존의 방법들은 과포화현상(over-enhancement), 계조 현상(false-contouring)과 같은 화질 열화를 보인다. 본 논문에서는 차별적 히스토그램 압축방법을 기반으로 하는 목표 평균 밝기값을 이용한 분할 히스토그램 평활화를 통해서 개선된 명암대비 향상 기법을 제안한다. 제안한 방법은 평균 밝기값을 기준으로 히스토그램을 분할하고, 각 영역에 대해 히스토그램을 빈도수에 따라 차별적으로 압축한다. 그리고 변형된 히스토그램을 목표 평균 밝기값 기준으로 평활화한다. 이를 통하여 화질 열화를 억제하고, 동영상의 각 프레임의 평균밝기 변화를 유지하면서 명암대비를 개선시킨다. 실험 결과 제안방법은 기존 방법에 비해 동영상에서 각 프레임의 평균밝기를 잘 유지하고, 화질 열화 없이 좋은 명암대비 향상 효과를 보였다.

  • The electron charging and degradation of anode phosphor layers are showed major problems in high electric field with anode electrode of field emission devices. An Al metal layer on the phosphor layer may get rid of these problems. This Al metal layer are formed with the roughness of phosphor surface layer without interlayer and cannot be given rise to enhance the luminance efficiency. In order to enhance the brightness, an anode layer need to be flated between phosphor layer and Al metal layer in anode electrode. After optimizing the anode phosphor layer, an anode layer with Al metal and inter layer increased the brightness and luminescence efficiency 1.5 times more than only phosphor layer in anode.

  • In order to decrease the degradation of phosphor on anode, many kinds of methods try to do coating of phosphor powders and AI metal layer of anode phosphor, In case of direct coating of phosphor powder, thin and uniform coating process are difficult to cover homogeneous in the surface of phosphor powders and given rise to decrease the brightness, Anti-reflection-layer(ARC) with $TiO_2$, $Al_2O_3$, $Y_2O_3$ showed 103[%] the enhancement of brightness in comparable with normal phosphor layer.

  • Several characteristic results of physical and optical properties of paper treated by UV light were obtained in the previous papers(Kim et al. 1988). In this paper, folding endurance and brightness of paper prepared by spraying photostabilizer were examined in order to elucidate photodegradation phenomena, UV light absorber and radical scavenger were most effective in preventing of folding endurance decrease. These results may be indicated that depolymerization of cellulose and hemicellulose chains leading to degradation of paper mechanical properties mainly caused by radical reaction. Ineffective hydroperoxide decomposer may be explained because of auto-oxidation reactions before forming stable compound from hydroperoxide.

This Hetero-metal-oxide phosphor layer are formed with the roughness of phosphor surface layer without interlayer and cannot be given rise to enhance the luminance efficiency. In order to enhance the brightness, an anode layer need to be flated between phosphor layer and AI metal layer in anode electrode. After optimizing the anode phosphor layer, an anode layer with AI metal and inter layer increased the brightness and luminescence efficiency 1.2 times more than only phosphor laver in anode.

필터 길이의 변화를 이용한 효율적인 구획 단위 웨이브릿 변환 (An efficient block wavelet transform using variable filter length)

  • Wavelet transform is widely used for high compression ratio image compression. It requeires a large memory when it is implemented by a hardware. Therefore, it is efficient to divide the entire image into blocks. Because the wavelet transform for divided blocks causes losses, pixels of the adjacent blocks are used. In the case of color image compression, the image is decomposed into brightness and color components, and then color components are downsampled. When the wavelet transform is performed by using pixels of adjacentblocks, the number of necessary pixels are doubled due to downsampling of color components. In this paper, we propose an efficient block wavelet transform using variablefilter length for brightness and color components. By using the proposed method, the number of pixels of adjacent blocks is optimized. We show the degradation of image quality due to the reduction of filter length for color components is negligible through simulations.
