Visual-MIMO 시스템에서 휘도편차를 이용한 전송 성능 향상 (Transmission Performance Improvement Using Brightness Deviation for Visual-MIMO System)

  • 최근 LED 어레이와 카메라간의 통신에 MIMO의 개념을 적용한 Visual-MIMO 시스템에 대한 다양한 연구가 진행되고 있다. 이전 연구에서 비트 판정을 위해 참조 LED 어레이 패턴을 사용한 방법을 제안하였으나, 참조 LED 어레이 패턴을 사용할 시에 거리가 변경될 때마다 참조 LED 어레이 패턴을 통해 ISI를 측정해야 하는 단점이 존재한다. 본 논문에서는 참조 어레이 패턴을 사용하지 않고 휘도편차를 사용한 비트 판정 및 오류정정 방법을 제안한다. 일차적으로 실험적으로 정해진 임계값에 의해 비트를 판정한다. 그 중 ON-LED로 판정된 LED에 대해서 오류 여부를 검사하고 정정을 시도한다. 정정 방법은 각 LED의 히스토그램의 전체데이터 중 최대빈도수를 기준으로 68.2%($1{\sigma}$)에 해당하는 범위인 휘도편차를 사용하여 판정한다. LED간 ISI 정도 및 거리의 변화에 따라 제안한 방법의 성능을 LED 어레이 패턴을 사용한 경우와 비교 분석하고 실험을 통해 검증한다.

  • 저시력인들을 위한 기존 시각 향상 장치들이 많이 있다. 이 장치는 주로 확대경 역할이 대부분이고, 고가이다. 저시력 원인으로는 다양한 증상에 기인한다. 시력 향상을 위해서는 영상의 확대, 밝기, 대비를 조절할 필요가 있다. 따라서 시력 향상 휴대용 마이크로 디스플레이 구동 드라이버 및 장치를 개발한다. 이 장치의 4가지 기본 원리는 영상 확대, 특정 색 조절, BLU로 밝기 조절, 프리즘에 의한 시축 개선이다. 제안된 HMVED 장치의 임상 실험이 실시되었다. 결과적으로 기존 장치에 비해서 수혜 효과가 돋보였으며 본 장치는 저중량, 저가, 휴대성이 용이하므로 저시력인의 삶의 질 향상에 도모한다.

디지털 맘모그램을 위한 비선형 영상 향상 방법 (A Nonlinear Image Enhancement Method for Digital Mammogram)

  • 맘모그램은 유방암의 조기발견을 위해 가장 일반적으로 이용되고 있다 유방암의 정확한 진단과 효율적인 치료를 위하여 많은 영상향상 방법들이 개발되어왔다. 본 논문은 디지털 유방 촬영상의 영상향상을 위하여 새로운 비선형 영상향상 방법을 제안한다. 제안된 방법은 영상의 밝기 정보를 향상시키기 위한 비선형 함수와 경계와 디테일 정보를 개선하기 위한 비선형 필터로 구성된다. 비선형 함수는 영상의 어두운 영역의 밝기를 향상시키고 밝은 영역의 동적범위를 넓혀주며, 비선형 필터는 영상의 특정 영역이나 객체를 효과적으로 개선시킨다. 최종 향상된 영상은 비선형 함수로 처리한 영상과 비선형 필터로 필터된 영상을 더하여 얻어진다. 제안된 비선형 영상향상 방법은 실험에서 기존 방법과 영상향상 결과를 비교하여 우수한 성능을 확인하였다.

피라졸 유도체를 함유한 폴리알킬플루오렌 공중합체의 향상된 EL 특성 (Highly Enhanced EL Properties of PF Copolymers with Pyrazole Derivatives)

  • We have synthesized new blue electroluminescent polyalkylfluorene-based copolymers [poly(F-co-Py)x:y, where x:y = 99:1 or 95:5 mole ratios] containing the hole-injecting pyrazole derivative [3,3'-(4,6-bis(octyloxy)-1,3-phenylene)bis(1,5-diphenyl-4,5-dihydro-1H-pyrazole] through Ni(0) mediated polymerization, and their electroluminescent properties were investigated. Electroluminescent (EL) devices were fabricated with ITO / PEDOT:PSS (110 nm) / copolymers or PF homopolymer (80 nm) / Ca (50 nm) / Al (200 nm) configuration. Each EL device constructed from the copolymer exhibited significantly enhanced brightness and efficiency compared with a device constructed from the PF homopolymer. The EL device constructed with poly(F-co-Py)99:1 exhibited the highest luminous efficiency and brightness (0.95 cd/A and $2,907\;cd/m^2$, respectively). The achieved luminous efficiency was an excellent result, providing almost a 4-fold improvement on the efficiency obtainable with the a PF homopolymer device. This enhanced efficiency of the copolymer devices results from their improved hole injection and more efficient charge carrier balance, which arises from the HOMO level (~5.83 eV) of the poly(F-co-Py)99:1 copolymer, which is higher than that of the PF homopolyme (~5.90 eV).

Identification and Correction of Microlens-array Error in an Integral-imaging-microscopy System

  • In an integral-imaging microscopy (IIM) system, a microlens array (MLA) is the primary optical element; however, surface errors impede the resolution of a raw image's details. Calibration is a major concern with regard to incorrect projection of the light rays. A ray-tracing-based calibration method for an IIM camera is proposed, to address four errors: MLA decentering, rotational, translational, and subimage-scaling errors. All of these parameters are evaluated using the reference image obtained from the ray-traced white image. The areas and center points of the microlens are estimated using an "8-connected" and a "center-of-gravity" method respectively. The proposed approach significantly improves the rectified-image quality and nonlinear image brightness for an IIM system. Numerical and optical experiments on multiple real objects demonstrate the robustness and effectiveness of our proposed method, which achieves on average a 35% improvement in brightness for an IIM raw image.

원적외선냉온마스크(BBSkinplus)의 피부미용개선 임상연구 (Clinical Evaluation of the Effects of Far-Infrared Hot & Cool Mask (BBSkinplus) for Skin Care)

  • This study evaluated the cosmetic effects of a far-infrared hot and cool mask (BBSkinplus) on face skin moisturization, whitening, and wrinkles using a randomized clinical trial. Forty female participants (mean age 47.7 ± 4.6 years) were allocated into the treatment group (BBSkinplus treatment and lotion application twice a day) or the control group (only lotion application twice a day), and moisture, brightness, and wrinkles were measured at 0, 1 and 2 weeks. The average values of each measurement were changed significantly by BBSkinplus treatment compared to the control group. At the 2-week treatment time point, the statistical differences in improvement rates between the two groups were significant at 8.7% vs. 3.9% for moisture (p < 0.01), 0.7% vs. 0.4% for brightness (p < 0.01), and -3.1% vs. 0.0% as Ra and -6.3% vs. 1.5% as R3z for wrinkles (p < 0.05), respectively. No notable complaint was reported regarding any kind of adverse effects such as erythema, itching, or burning. This clinical data support the potential of BBSkinplus as a home beauty device providing moisturizing, whitening, and anti-wrinkle effects on the face.

  • A new structure is proposed to achieve a low sustaining voltage and high luminous efficacy. By measuring minimum sustaining voltage(Vs) discharge current(Ion), discharge(Ioff), and brightness of the light from a 4-inch ac-PDP, performances of the conventional structure and proposed structure are compared. When compared with the conventional structure, proposed structure showed 6.5% Vsm improvement, 22% luminance improvement and 20% light dispersion improvement at the Ne-Xe(8%) gas mixture of 400 torr.

Classification of Water Areas from Satellite Imagery Using Artificial Neural Networks

  • Every year, several typhoons hit the Korean peninsula and cause severe damage. For the prevention and accurate estimation of these damages, real time or almost real time flood information is essential. Because of weather conditions, images taken by optic sensors or LIDAR are sometimes not appropriate for an accurate estimation of water areas during typhoon. In this case SAR (Synthetic Aperture Radar) images which are independent of weather condition can be useful for the estimation of flood areas. To get detailed information about floods from satellite imagery, accurate classification of water areas is the most important step. A commonly- and widely-used classification methods is the ML(Maximum Likelihood) method which assumes that the distribution of brightness values of the images follows a Gaussian distribution. The distribution of brightness values of the SAR image, however, usually does not follow a Gaussian distribution. For this reason, in this study the ANN (Artificial Neural Networks) method independent of the statistical characteristics of images is applied to the SAR imagery. RADARS A TSAR images are primarily used for extraction of water areas, and DEM (Digital Elevation Model) is used as supplementary data to evaluate the ground undulation effect. Water areas are also extracted from KOMPSAT image achieved by optic sensors for comparison purpose. Both ANN and ML methods are applied to flat and mountainous areas to extract water areas. The estimated areas from satellite imagery are compared with those of manually extracted results. As a result, the ANN classifier performs better than the ML method when only the SAR image was used as input data, except for mountainous areas. When DEM was used as supplementary data for classification of SAR images, there was a 5.64% accuracy improvement for mountainous area, and a similar result of 0.24% accuracy improvement for flat areas using artificial neural networks.

상가건물 계단통로유도등의 유지관리 효율화 방안에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Effective Maintenance Method of the Stair Passage Leading Light installed In the Shopping Building)

  • This study was conducted by survey and inspection of stair passage leading lights in shopping buildings which are more than 5 stories and have an underground parking lot located at Pyeongtaek-si and Seongnam-si. Number of shopping building for this study is 30 and of stair passage leading light inspected by two lights in each shopping building is 60. The result of this study is that the type of installed leading lights is LED(77%), and 60% of leading lights has problem such as no cleaning, scratch and discoloration, etc. The height of installed leading lights meets the fire law which is less than 1m from the floor. Visible condition of leading lights is good except some leading lights which have a little visible problem due to banner advertisement. 37% of standby power has flickered and went out. 93% of total leading lights meets the fire law which is more than 1lux from 0.5m distance, but cold cathode fluorescent lamps(CCFLs) have the problem which not meets proper brightness level based on fire law. In additional measurement result, zero lux of leading lights is 32%(from 1m distance), 68%(from 1.5m distance) and 98%(from 2m distance). Leading light is very important facility because it is eyes and guide when emergency. Therefore, proper fire facility operating function inspection and total detailed inspection are important to keep the good condition of leading light except simple visual check, and also improvement in law system of type approval, fire construction inspection and illumination level will be needed.

Use of Self Assembled Monolayer in the Cathode/Organic Interface of Organic Light Emitting Devices for Enhancement of Electron Injection

  • Self assembled monolayers (SAM) are generally used at the anode/organic interface to enhance the carrier injection in organic light emitting devices, which improves the electroluminescence performance of organic devices. This paper reports the use of SAM of 1-decanethiol (H-S(CH2)9CH3) at the cathode/organic interface to enhance the electron injection process for organic light emitting devices. Aluminum (Al), tris-(8-hydroxyquionoline) aluminum (Alq3), N,N'-diphenyl-N,N'-bis(3 -methylphenyl)-1,1'- diphenyl-4,4'-diamine (TPD) and indium-tin-oxide (ITO) were used as bottom cathode, an emitting layer (EML), a hole-transporting layer (HTL) and a top anode, respectively. The results of the capacitancevoltage (C-V), current density -voltage (J-V) and brightness-voltage (B-V), luminance and quantum efficiency measurements show a considerable improvement of the device performance. The dipole moment associated with the SAM layer decreases the electron schottky barrier between the Al and the organic interface, which enhances the electron injection into the organic layer from Al cathode and a considerable improvement of the device performance is observed. The turn-on voltage of the fabricated device with SAM layer was reduced by 6V, the brightness of the device was increased by 5 times and the external quantum efficiency is increased by 0.051%.
