유지관리를 위한 교량 시설물 자산 평가 방법에 대한 연구 (Study about the Evaluation of Bridge Asset Valuation for Maintenance)

  • PURPOSES : This study is to improve the highway management and rehabilitation efficiently by method for asset management. METHODS : Based on the literature review, The concept of this paper is to investigate the use of asset values from a Bridge management system to improvement of maintenance system more efficiently. This study is suggested for an evaluation method based on the current bridge condition by Written-down replacement cost of the assets. RESULTS : We suggests the optimization methodology of road asset valuation for budge distribution and performance measure. CONCLUSIONS : We evaluate all of national highway's bridge by the optimization methodology of road asset valuation, and suggest application methods of asset result.

  • Latex modified concrete (LMC) has grown to be accepted as a standard material of construction overlaying bridge decks in America due to its superior physical and chemical properties. The properties of latex, combined with the low water-cement ratio, produce a concrete that has improved flexural, tensile, and bond strength, lower modulus of elasticity, increased freeze-thaw resistance, and reduced permeability compared to conventional concrete of similar mix design. LMC overlays have been service in excellence for 30 years on thousands of bridge in U.S.A. This may, also, prolong the life cycle of bridge deck once it is adopted in Korea. The self-contained, mobile, continuous mixer is most appropriate particularly for concrete quality assurance. Assuring quality on a bridge deck overlay project should begin in the design phase and continue after the construction is completed. Quality should be the concern of everyone involved-owner, designer, and contractor.

  • A method of calculating the natural frequency corresponding to the modes of vibration of beams and tower structures, with irregular cross sections and with arbitrary boundary conditions was developed and reported by Kim, D. H. in 1974. In this paper, the result of application of this method to the three span continuous reinforced concrete bridge with elastic intermediate supports is presented. Such bridge represents either concrete or sandwich type three span bridge on polymeric supports for passive control or on actuators for active control The concrete slab is considered as a special orthotropic plate. The influence of the modulus of the foundation and $D_{22}$, $D_{12}$, $D_{66}$ stiffnesses on the natural frequency is thoroughly studied.

  • In early design stages structural form finding is of importance. Theses days the structural forms are forced to satisfy not only engineering criteria but also aesthetic concerns including symbolism. Geometric approach seems to provide many possibilities in generating creative forms as design alternatives for bridge structures. However, the increase in possibilities of geometric application didn't gather much attention from bridge designers who are focusing mainly on structural aspects. Prior to adopting the geometric approach, it is needed to review bridge structures in terms of geometric vocabulary. This study has proposed how to generate geometric forms of bridge structures in terms of geometric computing concepts.

Dynamic testing of a soil-steel bridge

  • The paper presents the results and conclusions of dynamic load tests that were conducted on a road bridge over the Mokrzyca river in Wroclaw (Poland) made of galvanized corrugated steel plates (CSP). The critical speed magnitudes, velocity vibration, vibration frequency were determined in the paper. The dynamic analysis is extremely important, because such studies of soil-steel bridges in the range of dynamic loads are relatively seldom conducted. Conclusions drawn from the tests can be most helpful in the assessment of behaviour of this type of corrugated plate bridge with soil. In consideration of application of this type of structure in the case of small-to-medium span bridges, the conclusions from the research will not be yet generalized to all types of such solutions. The detailed reference to all type of such bridge structures would be requiring additional analysis (field tests and calculations) on the other types of soil-steel bridges.

  • This study provides a new operation strategy which can guarantee the data consistency of engineering information among the various intelligent information systems. We present the strategies for the operation of bridges engineering information and the construction methodology of integrated database. The two core standard techniques are adopted to construct the integrated database. One of these standards is the Standard for the Exchange of Product Model Data (STEP) for CAD/CAE information and the other is the Extensible Markup Language (XML) for engineering document information. This study can transform a document me into a data type for web-based application modules which assist end-users in searching and retrieval of engineering document data. In addition, relaying algorithm is developed to integrate the two different information, e.g. CAD/CAE information and engineering document information. The pilot application modules for management and maintenance of existing bridge are also developed to show application of the strategy.

도재소성주기에 따른 식각가공의치의 변형에 관한 연구 (A STUDY ON THE DISTORTION OF ETCHED BRIDGE DURING THE FIRING CYCLE)

  • The purpose of this study was to evaluate the distortion of 6-unit etched bridge during the firing cycle. Thirty frameworks were constructed. Twenty of the frameworks received a normal application of porcelain and firing sequence ; ten served as controls and subjected to the same firing sequence without the porcelain application. The results were as follows ; 1. Distortion did occur in the body of curved, long-span etched bridge frameworks during the porcelain firing cycle. 2. This distortion was a result of changes in the metal as well as the contraction of fired porcelain. 3. The greatest distortional changes occurred during the degassing stage and final glaze stage of the porcelain firing cycle. 4. Distortion incurred by the application and firing of the porcelain was reversible. When the porcelain was chemically removed from the frameworks, there was an elastic rebound. 5. Distortion was clinically important.

Towards UAV-based bridge inspection systems: a review and an application perspective

  • Visual condition inspections remain paramount to assessing the current deterioration status of a bridge and assigning remediation or maintenance tasks so as to ensure the ongoing serviceability of the structure. However, in recent years, there has been an increasing backlog of maintenance activities. Existing research reveals that this is attributable to the labour-intensive, subjective and disruptive nature of the current bridge inspection method. Current processes ultimately require lane closures, traffic guidance schemes and inspection equipment. This not only increases the whole-of-life costs of the bridge, but also increases the risk to the travelling public as issues affecting the structural integrity may go unaddressed. As a tool for bridge condition inspections, Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) or, drones, offer considerable potential, allowing a bridge to be visually assessed without the need for inspectors to walk across the deck or utilise under-bridge inspection units. With current inspection processes placing additional strain on the existing bridge maintenance resources, the technology has the potential to significantly reduce the overall inspection costs and disruption caused to the travelling public. In addition to this, the use of automated aerial image capture enables engineers to better understand a situation through the 3D spatial context offered by UAV systems. However, the use of UAV for bridge inspection involves a number of critical issues to be resolved, including stability and accuracy of control, and safety to people. SLAM (Simultaneous Localisation and Mapping) is a technique that could be used by a UAV to build a map of the bridge underneath, while simultaneously determining its location on the constructed map. While there are considerable economic and risk-related benefits created through introducing entirely new ways of inspecting bridges and visualising information, there also remain hindrances to the wider deployment of UAVs. This study is to provide a context for use of UAVs for conducting visual bridge inspections, in addition to addressing the obstacles that are required to be overcome in order for the technology to be integrated into current practice.

장경간 철도 교량에 적용된 슬라이딩 궤도와 레일신축이음장치의 궤도-교량 상호작용 비교 (Comparative Analysis of Track-Bridge Interaction of Sliding Slab Track and Rail Expansion Joint for Long-Span Railway Bridge)

  • 슬라이딩 궤도는 콘크리트 궤도와 교량 바닥판 사이에 저마찰 슬라이드층을 두어 레일신축이음장치와 같은 특수 장치를 적용하지 않고도 궤도-교량 상호작용 효과를 효과적으로 저감시킬 수 있는 새로운 궤도 시스템으로 개발되고 있다. 이 논문에서는 장경간 교량에 슬라이딩 궤도와 레일신축이음장치를 각각 적용한 경우에 대하여 궤도-교량 상호작용해석을 수행하고 그 결과를 비교 검토하였다. 대상교량은 상호작용 효과를 극대화하기 위하여 9경간 연속 PSC교와 2경간 연속 강합성교를 포함하며, 총 연장 1,205m, 최대 고정지점간 거리 825m인 장경간 교량을 선정하였다. 해석결과 슬라이딩 궤도는 레일신축이음장치를 적용한 경우보다 레일 부가 축력이 더 작은 것은 물론, 지점부에 재하되는 수평 반력 또한 작게 나타나 궤도-교량 상호작용 저감 효과가 뛰어난 것으로 확인되었다. 반면 슬라이딩 궤도는 온도하중에 의해 높은 슬래브 축력이 발생되므로, 궤도 설계 시 슬래브 축력에 대한 단면 설계에 주의를 기울일 필요가 있다.

실시간 교량 안전감시시스템 개발 (Development of Realtime Bridge Safety Monitoring System)

  • 본 논문에서는 교량의 구조건전도를 실시간 감시할 수 있는 안전감시시스템인 BMSWare를 개발하였다. 개발된 시스템은 웹을 기반으로 실시간 안전감시가 가능하며 다양한 규모의 교량에 사용할 수 있도록 범용성을 목표로 개발되었다. 또한 각 교량들이 위치한 다양한 환경에서 신뢰성 있는 데이터를 수집할 수 있도록 다양한 제품의 로거(logger)와 센서들을 접목할 수 있으며, 프로그램의 수정없이 수집된 데이터를 가공할 수 있는 기능을 포함한다. 개발된 시스템은 독자적으로 교량에서 데이터를 수집하여 운용할 수 있는 기능과 수집된 데이터를 관리사무실의 메인 서버에 주기적으로 백업하며 실시간으로 교량상태를 전송할 수 있는 기능 등 두 가지 형태의 기능을 가지고 있다. 또한 새로운 교량에 적용이 용이하며 위기상황에 적절히 대응할 수 있도록 개발되었다. 개발된 시스템은 무영대교에 설치되어 운영 중에 있으며 평가결과, 시스템의 안정성과 효율성을 입증하였다.
