Enhanced Acetone Detection in High-humidity Environments Using Cr-doped ε-WO3 Spheres

  • Exhaled breath analysis has emerged as a non-invasive and cost-effective approach in medical diagnostics, particularly for detecting biomarkers such as acetone. This study presents the synthesis and characterization of Cr-doped ε-WO3 spheres designed to improve gas-sensing performance. These spheres were synthesized via ultrasonic spray pyrolysis, resulting in a material with a complex composition exhibiting high sensitivity and selectivity towards acetone over ethanol (response ratio = 13.2 at 325℃). The enhanced acetone sensitivity of the Cr-doped WO3 sensor is attributed to the strong interaction between the spontaneous electric dipole moment of ε-WO3 and the significant dipole moment of acetone. This sensor can detect exhaled acetone, facilitating effective monitoring of a ketogenic diet.

  • The 181,000 DWT Bulk Carrier has a different deck house type, which is not typical for previous bulk carriers, to meet the new international rules for bulk carriers. This new deck house has much smaller transverse breadth than the hull's transverse breath, resulting in large levels of the transverse response of the deck house. In addition, the longitudinal response of the funnel showed rather a large magnitude of vibration, which are excited by the ship's main excitations such as the main engine H-moment and the propeller surface forte when the ship operates at the NCR and the MCR speeds In the ballast condition. To solve these issues, the global forced vibration analysis has been performed for the ship and the ship structure has been modified to reduce the vibration level by increasing the girder depth and adjusting the engine room tank arrangement.

좌측 유방암 방사선치료에서 CPAP(Continuous Positive Airway Pressure)의 유용성 평가 (The efficacy of continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) for patient with left breast cancer)

  • 목 적: 본 연구는 좌측 유방암 방사선치료에서 환자 호흡방법에 따른 영향에 대하여 치료계획을 통해 비교 분석하고, 깊은 들숨 호흡 정지법(deep inspiration breath hold, DIBH)에서 지속적 기도 양압(continuous positive airway, CPAP)의 유용성을 평가하고자 하였다. 대상 및 방법: 좌측 유방암 환자 총 10명을 대상으로 하였다. 모의치료에서 총 세 가지 호흡법을 적용하여 영상을 획득하였다: 자유호흡법(free breathing, FB); 깊은 들숨 호흡 정지법(DIBH); 들숨 호흡 정지법(inspiration breath hold, IBH); 여기서 DIBH에서는 자가호흡확인 기구인 abches(APEX, Japan)와 IBH에서는 CPAP가 적용되었다. 치료계획은 Ray Station(5.0.2.35, Sweden)을 이용하였고, 용적 강도변조 회전방사선치료법(volumetric modulated arc therapy, VMAT) one partial Arc을 환자당 동일 각도로 적용하였다. 치료계획용적(planning target volume, PTV)의 총 처방선량은 50Gy(2Gy/fx)로 설정하였다. 치료계획분석은 PTV의 95% dose(D95), 처방선량지수(conformity index, CI)와 선량균질지수(homogeneity index, HI)를 비교 분석하였다. 손상위험장기(Organ At Risk, OAR)인 폐, 심장, 왼내림 앞가지동맥(left anterior descending artery, LAD)을 분석하였다. 결 과: 동축의 폐(ipsilateral lung)의 평균용적 FB, DIBH(Abches), IBH(CPAP)에서 각각 1245.58±301.31㎤, 1790.09±362.43㎤, 1775.44±476.71㎤였다. PTV의 평균 D95는 각각 46.67±1.89Gy, 46.85±1.72Gy, 46.97±2.34Gy였다. 평균 CI(HI)는 각각 0.95±0.02(0.91±0.01), 0.96±0.02(0.90±0.01), 0.95±0.02(0.92±0.02)였다. 폐 전체의 V20(동측 폐)은 각각 10.74±4.50%(20.45±8.65%), 8.29±3.14%(17.18±7.04%), 9.12±3.29%(18.85±7.85%)였다. 심장의 평균 선량(Dmean)은 각각 7.82±1.27Gy, 6.10±1.27Gy, 5.67±1.56Gy였다. LAD의 최대선량(Dmax)은 각각 20.41±7.56Gy, 14.88±3.57Gy, 14.96±2.81Gy였다. LAD에서 흉벽(Chest wall)까지 평균거리는 각각 11.33±4.70mm, 22.40±6.01mm, 20.14±6.23mm였다. 결 론: DIBH와 CPAP에서 FB보다 폐 용적이 커짐으로써, 방사선치료영역인 흉벽과 심장의 거리가 멀어지는 효과 때문에 LAD의 선량을 감소시킬 수 있다. 좌측 유방암 방사선치료 시 DIBH방법의 대체방안으로 CPAP은 임상적 활용도가 높을 것으로 사료된다.

Comparison of Three, Motion-Resistant MR Sequences on Hepatobiliary Phase for Gadoxetic Acid (Gd-EOB-DTPA)-Enhanced MR Imaging of the Liver

  • Purpose: To compare three, motion-resistant, T1-weighted MR sequences on the hepatobiliary phase for gadoxetic acid-enhanced MR imaging of the liver. Materials and Methods: In this retrospective study, 79 patients underwent gadoxetic acid-enhanced, 3T liver MR imaging. Fifty-nine were examined using a standard protocol, and 20 were examined using a motion-resistant protocol. During the hepatocyte-specific phase, three MR sequences were acquired: 1) gradient recalled echo (GRE) with controlled aliasing in parallel imaging results in higher acceleration (CAIPIRINHA); 2) radial GRE with the interleaved angle-bisection scheme (ILAB); and 3) radial GRE with golden-angle scheme (GA). Two readers independently assessed images with motion artifacts, streaking artifacts, liver-edge sharpness, hepatic vessel clarity, lesion conspicuity, and overall image quality, using a 5-point scale. The images were assessed by measurement of liver signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), and tumor-to-liver contrast-to-noise ratio (CNR). The results were compared, using repeated post-hoc, paired t-tests with Bonferroni correction and the Wilcoxon signed rank test with Bonferroni correction. Results: In the qualitative analysis of cooperative patients, the results for CAIPIRINHA had significantly higher ratings for streak artifacts, liver-edge sharpness, hepatic vessel clarity, and overall image quality as compared to, radial GRE, (P < 0.016). In the imaging of uncooperative patients, higher scores were recorded for ILAB and GA with respect to all of the qualitative assessments, except for streak artifact, compared with CAIPIRINHA (P < 0.016). However, no significant differences were found between ILAB and GA. For quantitative analysis in uncooperative patients, the mean liver SNR and lesion-to-liver CNR with radial GRE were significantly higher than those of CAIPIRINHA (P < 0.016). Conclusion: In uncooperative patients, the use of the radial GRE sequence can improve the image quality compared to GRE imaging with CAIPIRINHA, despite the data acquisition methods used. The GRE imaging with CAIPIRINHA is applicable for patients without breath-holding difficulties.

영역별 특성에 따른 구취발생시 행동대처에 관한 연구 (A study on the relationship of general characteristics to behavioral reaction toward oral malodor)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the awareness of people in general characteristics about oral malodor. The subjects in this study are 184 people who visited the clinical practice lab at J health college to get their teeth scaled. After conducting a survey from May 1 to June 3, 2008, we selected four different ares and then analyzed the answer sheets from 179 respondents including smoking/nonsmoking, scaling experience, toothbrushing frequency and the use of oral hygiene supplies. SPSS WIN 12.0 program was used to make a frequency analysis and cross analysis. The findings of the study are as follows: 1. Concerning an intention of treatment for oral malodor, 37.4% didn't intend to receive treatment even in case of having bad breath. 28.5% didn't yet have any definite idea about that, and 20.7% had no mind to do that at all. 10.6% had an intention to receive treatment, and 2.8% want to receive treatment. 2. As for how to cope with oral malodor in case of suffering from it, 47.5% chewed gums or ate candy. 25.1% scarcely care about that, and 15.6% covered their mouth whenever they spoke. 9.5% had little confidence about talking to others, and 2.2% found it difficult to build an amicable interpersonal relationship. 3. Concerning what to do about another person's oral malodor, 40.8% did nothing, and 19% talked to the person about that. 17.3% gave him or her chewing gum. Among their oral health characteristics, toothbrushing frequency made a significant difference to the way they responded to another person's oral malodor(p<.05). 4. As to subjective feelings about another person's oral malodor, 41.9% just found it bearable. 36.9% were a little displeased, and 9.5% never felt bad about another person's bad breath. 8.9% tried to avoid the person, and 2.8% advised him or her to chew gum. 5. Regarding an intention of participating in a oral malodor program, 46.9% had no idea about that. 31.3% intended to participate in the program, and 13.4% wanted to do that without fail. 6.1% had no mind for that, and 2.2% were never going to do that. Among characteristics of the user oral hygiene device made a significant difference whether to participating in the oral malodor program(p<.05).

도시아카이브 구축 방향에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Urban Archives of Building Direction)

  • 도시고유의 역사가 기록되고 그 안에서 오늘의 역사 또한 살아 숨 쉬는 것이 보일 때 도시는 그 고유의 상징적 이미지를 갖게 된다. 이 연구는 도시아카이브에 관한 이론적 고찰을 통해 도시의 특성과 아카이브의 필요성을 이해하고, 도시아카이브 현황조사와 분석을 통하여 새로운 도시아카이브의 구축 방향을 제시하는데 있다. 이를 위해 국내의 도시 중 서울, 부산, 원주를 조사대상으로 하였으며, 관련 문헌과 웹페이지 내용분석을 토대로 도시아카이브의 효율적인 구축방향을 제안하였다.

유클리디언 거리 기반의 단계적 소거 방법을 통한 화학센서 어레이 성능 최적화 (A Step-wise Elimination Method Based on Euclidean Distance for Performance Optimization Regarding to Chemical Sensor Array)

  • In order to prevent drink-driving by detecting concentration of alcohol from driver's exhale breath, twenty chemical sensors fabricated. The one of purposes for sensor array which consists of those sensors is to discriminate between target gas(alcohol) and interference gases($CH_3CH_2OH$, CO, NOx, Toluene, and Xylene). Wilks's lambda was presented to achieve above purpose and optimal sensors were selected using the method. In this paper, step-wise sensor elimination based on Euclidean distance was investigated for selecting optimal sensors and compared with a result of Wilks's lambda method. The selectivity and sensitivity of sensor array were used for comparing performance of sensor array as a result of two methods. The data acquired from selected sensor were analyzed by pattern analysis methods, principal component analysis and Sammon's mapping to analyze cluster tendency in the low space (2D). The sensor array by stepwise sensor elimination method had a better sensitivity and selectivity compared to a result of Wilks's lambda method.

한국 청소년의 스마트폰 사용과 구강질환 증상과의 관련성 (Relationship between hours of smartphone use and oral disease symptoms in Korean adolescents)

  • Objectives: This study aimed to determine the relationship between hours of smartphone use and oral disease symptoms in Korean adolescents. Methods: In this study, data from the 2022 Youth Health Behavior Online Survey were used. The final analysis was conducted on students who responded that they have used a smartphone (N=50,375). Chi-squared test and multivariate logistic regression analysis were used to analyze the relationship between oral disease symptoms and smartphone use time (p<0.05). Results: Consequent to examining the effect of smartphone use on oral disease symptoms, it was found that oral symptoms, such as pain during chewing and tingling throbbing, increased as smartphones were used for >4 h (p<0.05). Additionally, oral symptoms, such as gingivalgia bleeding and bad breath, appeared to increase as smartphones were used for >6 h (p<0.05). However, using smartphones for <0-2 h or 2-4 h had no effect on oral disease symptoms. Conclusions: In adolescents, oral disease symptoms increased significantly with increasing hours of smartphone use. Therefore, adolescents should be guided so that they use smartphones for <2 h or >4 h. Moreover, guidance on forming the habit of tooth brushing after eating food should be provided to prevent oral disease symptoms.

전향적 연구에 의한 Helicobacter pylori 재감염률 및 관련요인 (Prospective Study of Helicobacter pylori Reinfection Rate and Its Related Factors)

  • 1998년 3월 경상북도 경주시에 거주하는 30세 이상의 소화불량 증상이 있는 주민 중 내시경 검사를 통한 신속 요소분해 반응검사(CLO검사) 상 양성으로 확진된 사람에 대하여 H. pylori에 대한 3제 요법(tripotassium dicitrato bismuthate 600mg bid, amoxicillin 500mg qid, metronidazole 250mg qid 복합제제)을 실시하였다. 1년 후 요소호기검사에서 음성이었던 사람 87명 중 추적 가능하였던 86명을 대상으로 H. pylori에 대한 성공적인 제균 치료 1년 후(2000년 4월), 2년 6개월 후(2001년 10월)의 재감염률을 파악하고, 재감염과 관련된 요인을 분석하였다. 재감염을 판정하기 위하여 요소호기검사와 재감염 관련 요인을 파악하기 위하여 설문조사를 실시하였는데, 설문내용에는 위암 및 위궤양 등에 대한 가족력, 위장관계 관련 증상, 사회경제적 및 인구학적 특성, 투약 및 건강관련행위 등이 포함되었다. 2년 6개월 동안 추적조사가 완료된 77명을 대상으로 H. pylori 제균 후 1년 후의 재감염률은 15.6%였고, 2년 6개월 후의 요소호기검사에서 양성으로 판정 받은 대상자는 77명중 13명으로 재감염률은 16.9%였다. 연령, 성별, 사회경제적 특성, 교육수준, 가족력 등은 재감염과 관련성이 없었고, 요소호기검사에서 음성이라고 판정 받고 난 후 1년 간 연구 대상자 본인이 느끼는 주관적 소화불량 증상 중 '식후 포만감'이 있는 경우와 '상복부 팽만감' 증상여부는 재감염과 유의한 관련성이 있었다. 단변량분석에서 치료순응도와 음주가 유의한 변수였으며, 다중로지스틱회귀분석에서는 최근 1년 동안의 소화불량 증상 점수가 2-3점인 경우만이 교차비가 4.5로 통계학적으로 유의한 영향을 미치는 변수였다. 식사 중 소금 섭취량이 많은 경우 교차비가 8.7이었지만 통계학적으로 유의하지는 않았다. 결론적으로 1년 재감염률은 15.6%, 2년 6개월 재감염률은 16.9%이었으며, 개인의 주관적인 소화불량 증상 호소 정도와 치료순응도는 지역사회에서 H. pylori 재감염을 예측할 수 있는 근거로써 H. pylori 감염에 대한 추적검사시 추적검사 대상자 선별을 위한 근거로 활용될 수 있을 것이다.

Rare Helicobacter pylori Infection May Explain Low Stomach Cancer Incidence: Ecological Observations in Bali, Indonesia

  • The incidence rate of stomach cancer in Bali, Indonesia, is estimated to be strikingly lower than that in Japan. We conducted an on-site ecological study to investigate the association between the stomach cancer incidence and Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) infection. Recruiting 291 healthy persons (136 men and 155 women) from the general population in Bali, Indonesia, we conducted a urea breath test (UBT) to examine H. pylori infection, along with a pepsinogen test to detect chronic atrophic gastritis and urine analysis to estimate sodium and potassium excretion. UBT positivities were 9% (2-15, 95% confidence interval) for men and 7% (1-12) for women, and positive cases for H. pylori IgG antibodies were 1% (0-3) for men and 3% (0-5) for women, significantly lower than the respective values in Japan. Positive pepsinogen tests in Bali were 0% (0-0) for men and 1% (0-4) for women, also significantly lower than the Japanese figures. Computed values for daily salt excretion were $13.3{\pm}4.1g$ (mean${\pm}$SD) for men and $11.1{\pm}3.1g$ for women, as high as corresponding Japanese consumption values. Moreover, the estimated potassium excretion was $3.2{\pm}0.7g$ for men and $2.8{\pm}0.6g$ for women in Bali, significantly higher than the figures in Japan. There were no associations across genetic polymorphisms of IL-beta, TNF-alpha, and PTPN11 with UBT positivity. The low incidence of stomach cancer in Bali may thus mainly be due to the rare H. pylori infection. Namely, the bacterium infection seems to be a critical factor for gastric cancer rather than host or other environmental factors.
