  • The Electrical insulation design and testing of high temperature superconducting (HTS) coil for high temperature superconducting fault current limiter (HTSFCL) has been performed. Electrical insulating factors of HTS coil for HTSFCL are turn-to-turn, layer-to-layer. The electrical insulation of turn-to-turn depends on surface length, and the electrical insulation of layer-to-layer depends on surface length and breakdown strength of L$N_2$. Therefore, two basic characteristics of breakdown and flashover voltage were experimentally investigated to design electrical insulation for 6.6㎸ Class HTSFCL. We used Weibull distribution to set electric field strength for insulation design. And mini-model HTS coil for HTSFCL was designed by using Weibull distribution and was manufactured to investigate breakdown characteristics. The mini-model HTS coil had passed in AC and Impulse withstand test.

  • In order to the investigate for the DC(forward-reverse) breakdown properties of gate oxide in MOSFET, we are manufactured the specimen as following. The resistivity is 1.2($\Omega$ $.$ cm), 1.5($\Omega$ $.$ cm) and 1.8($\Omega$ $.$ cm) when thickness is 600(${\AA}$), and the diffusion time is both 110[min] and 150[min] when thickness is 600[${\AA}$]. In DC dielectric strength due to the each resistivity, it is confirmed that almost of the leakage current and breakdown current is flowed through n+ source when positive bias is applied, but is flowed through P region when negative bias is applied. It is thought that the dielectric strength due to the diffusion time is the contribution as increasing of p region.

XLPE/SXLPE 블랜드의 수트리 성장 및 절연파괴 특성 (Water Tree Growing and Electrical breakdown Characteristics of XLPE/XLPE blends)

  • Crosslinked polyethlyene/silane crosslinked polyethylene(XLPE/SXLPE) blends were prepared by a twin screw extruder and their water tree growing electrical breakdown and crossinking characteristics were investigated. The water tree characteristics of XLPE were improved by the addition of SXLPE when samples were crosslinked only by the thermorolysis of DCP (dicumyl peroxide). However steam curing process was not good for water tree characteristics. It was also found that the rate of water tree growing of XLPE/SXLPE blend increased when the content of SXLPE was 50%. AC breadown strength slightly increaed by the addition of SXLPE to XLPE when samples were crosslinked only by the thermorolysis of DCP. It was also found that the degree of crosslinking of XLPE/SXLPE blends were higher than that of XLPE in the case of the content without steam crosslinking process.

  • This paper describes the electrical characteristics of Nomex paper employed as an insulating material for distribution transformers. The relative permittivities (dielectric constants) and tan$\delta$ (dielectric dissipation factors) were measured as dielectric characteristics and the partial discharge inception voltages (PDIVs) and breakdown voltages were also measured as electrical strength characteristics of Nomex paper. As a result, the permittivity and tan $\delta$ of Nomex paper demonstrated both temperature and frequency dependency. Of particular note, the permittivity of 0.18 mm Nomex paper was 2.4 according to the ASTM condition, The PDIVs and breakdown voltages were almost linearly increased with the thickness of Nomex paper. Furthermore, its electrical strength was superior to conventional Kraft paper.

  • Electrical properties of Crosslinked polyethylene/silane crosslinked polyethylene (XLPE/SXLPE) blends were studied. Silane coupling agents of various contents were added to blends and their water tree and electrical breakdown characteristics were investigated. The water tree length of XLPE/SXLPE were increased by the addition of silane coupling agents except the case of SXLPE 10 % containing coupling agents of 0.5, 1.0 phr. AC breadown strength slightly increased by the addition of coupling agents to XLPE/SXLPE blends in cases of SXLPE 20 % containing coupling agents of 2.0 phr and SXLPE 50 %. The tendency of effects on water tree and breakdown characteristics was inverse.

  • Effects of ionic impurities on the dielectric breakdown of the crosslinked polyethylene (XLPE) were studied using aqueous electrolytes. It was found that the AC breakdown strength of XLPE decreases considerably when the ions are present in the electrodes composed of aqueous electrolyte. Details of results were described.

  • In this paper, We intended to evaluate characteristics of XLPE/EPDM interface which exists in the cable joint. Because the fault was mainly occurred in this interface. We investigated breakdown characteristics of XLPE/EPDM double layered insulator as a funtion of temperature, pressure, annealing time, kinds of jointmaterial.   • XLPE/VLDPE (Crosslinked polyethylene/very low density polyethylene) blends were prepared by a twin screw extruder and their electrical properties such as water tree and breakdown characteristic were measured. it was found that both water tree and breakdown characteristics of XLPE were improved by the addition of VLDPE to polyethylene. It was also found that the extent of improvement of electrical properties by the addition of VLDPE to polyethylene depends on the type and concentration of VLDPE.

  • 본 논문에서는 에폭시 복합 절연재료를 옥외에서 사용할 경우 수분의 영향을 고찰하기 위하여 비등홉수조건에 서 기계적 강도와 절연파괴강도의 변화를 측정하였다. 또한 내습성을 개선하기 위한 방법으로 이전에 보고하였던 상호침입망목 수법을 도입하여 그 효과를 비교 검토하였다. 두 종류의 모체수지에 충진재를 0, 50, 100 [phr] 첨가하여 총 6종류의 시편을 제작하였다. 그 결과, 비등흡수시간과 충진재 함량이 증가함에 따라 수분 흡수율이 증가되었고, 기계적 강도와 절연파괴강 도가 저하됨올 확인하였다. 반면 상호침입망목 시편의 경우에서는 접착강도의 개선에 의하여 홉수율이 낮아지고, 기계적 강도와 절연파괴 강도의 저하율이 완화됨을 확인하였다.
