외산제품선호경향 및 외재적 단서가 지각된 품질과 고객충성도에 미치는 영향 : 다국적기업 제품을 중심으로 (Effects of Preferences for Foreign Product and Extrinsic Cues on the Perceived Quality and Customer's Loyalty : Focused on Products of Multinational Corporations)

  • The purpose of this paper is to investigate the effects of consumer's preferences for foreign products and extrinsic cues such as brand, country of origin, and corporate reputation on the consumer's evaluation which includes the construct of perceived quality, and loyalty. In addition, this paper is aimed to provide Korean firms insights in strategic approaches about foreign consumers behavior. A conceptual model is developed and empirically tested against a sample of university students in Korea, who have buying experience of products from multinational firms. 290 samples were used for this analysis. Results of multiple regression analysis using SPSS 18.0 show that consumer's preferences for foreign products, brand awareness, and corporate reputation have a significant effect on the perceived quality of the product from multinational firms. The most important factor to influence the perceived quality was found to be a corporate reputation. But country of origin had not significant effect. Also it is found that both product and product related service quality are positive and statistically significant in explaining the customer's loyalty. Implications for increasing perceived quality and customer's loyalty for Korean products in the global market are discussed.

원산지 개념의 구성 차원이 소비자의 제품평가에 미치는 영향: 동기성향의 효과 (Effects of Country-of-Origin Dimensions on Product Evaluations: A Role of Motivational Focus)

  • 원산지 관련 연구는 오랫동안 마케팅과 국제경영 분야에서 연구되어 왔다. 최근 원산지 관련 연구는 급속도로 글로벌화 되어 가는 기업환경을 반영하여 원산지 효과의 존재를 입증 및 분석하고자 하는 연구흐름과 원산지 효과의 발생과정을 설명하고자 하는 연구흐름으로 분화 및 발전해왔다. 본 연구는 최근 단순한 원가절감 차원을 넘어서 브랜드 자체와 브랜드원산지의 경쟁력을 제고시키는 전략적 수단으로 활용되고 있는 제조원산지의 선택과 관련된 기업 활동의 효과를 설명하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 제조원산지와 브랜드원산지를 긍정조합 및 부정조합으로 구분하여 원산지효과를 검증하였으며, 이 과정에서 소비자의 동기성향(조절초점)이 갖는 조절효과를 살펴보았다. 연구 결과 긍정적인 원산지의 조합(예컨대, 일본에서 생산된 프랑스 브랜드 오디오)의 경우가 부정적인 조합(예컨대, 중국에서 생산된 독일 브랜드 의류)의 경우보다 호의적인 반응을 유발함으로써 제조국 원산지효과가 있음이 확인 되었다. 또한 개인의 동기성향이 제품에 대한 메시지의 내용과 일치할 때 제품에 대한 평가가 좋아지는 조절적 적합성(regulatory fit) 효과가 존재한다는 것도 확인 되었다. 끝으로 동기성향의 조절효과를 보았을 때, 긍정적인 원산지 조합에서는 개인의 동기성향에 따라 제품평가가 달라져 조절효과를 입증할 수 있었으나, 부정적인 원산지 조합에서는 동기성향의 조절효과가 태도 부분에서만 부분 지지되고 품질지각과 구매의도 부분에서는 지지되지 않아서 동기성향의 조절효과가 존재한다는 점을 부분적으로만 확인할 수 있었다. 연구결과를 토대로 기업이 제조원산지를 결정할 때 고려할 요소와 이미 제조원산지가 결정된 상황에서 보다 효과적인 마케팅 전략을 수립하기 위한 시사점을 제시하였다.

The Brand Name Effect of Consumer's Evaluation on Intrinsic Attributes :A Case Study of Clothing Market

  • The purpose of this study was primarily to examine various variables influencing consumer purchasing behavior on perceived product quality, value toward product including brand loyalty, price, consumer's willingness to pay for the product, and their expenditure patterns in Korean apparel market. Factor analysis was used to evaluate the credibility of dependent variables, and T-test was used to compare the effect of brand label, country of origin, brand effect between Korean and U.S, and jacket price and quality on consumer characteristics. Discriminated analysis was used to find the effective variables influencing the two reference group differences when they evaluated Korean and U.S. labeled and non-labeled apparel products. Multiple Regression analysis was used to examine the effects of consumer characteristics on perceived quality, perceived value, perceived price, and their willingness to buy. The results of this study also provides useful information of consumer purchasing behavior on U.S. branded apparel which may or already launched the Korean fashion merchandizing market.

  • 중국 경제가 빠른 속도로 발전함에 따라 중국 소비자들의 소비 관념에도 변화가 생겼다. 브랜드 원산지가 소비자의 구매 의도에 영향이 미치고 있는 것이다. 본 논문은 원산지 이미지의 제고를 통하여, 기업이 글로벌 마케팅활동에서 경쟁우위를 확보하기 위한 연구이다. 브랜드 이미지의 기초 이론을 바탕으로 원산지 이미지가 소비자의 구매 의도에 영향을 주는 새로운 모형과 연구 가설을 제기하였다. 양적 연구방법과 질적 연구방법을 혼합한 연구방법을 이용하였는데, SPSS 23.0을 이용하여 설문지 내용의 데이터를 수집하여 분석하였다. 연구결과는 원산지의 이미지가 소비자 구매의도에 정(+)의 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났고, 인지 가치에서도 소비자의 구매 의도에 정(+)의 영향이 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 마지막으로 실증연구결과를 종합하여, 현지 기업에게 새로운 마케팅전략과 개선책을 제시하였고, 다국적 기업들에게도 중국 시장에서의 판매 전략을 고려할 수 있도록 하였다.

포도소비수준에 따른 포도선택속성 중요도-만족도 분석 (Analysis of the Importance-Satisfaction of the Grape Selection Attributes by Grape Consumption Level)

  • This paper provides data for product development and improvement of grape varieties by analyzing the satisfaction-importance of the grape selection attributes from a consumer's perspective. A survey was conducted on consumers aged 19-59 living in Seoul, Gyeonggi and Incheon on their fruit consumption level, preferences according to the grape quality characteristics, importance, and satisfaction with the grape selection attributes. Three hundred and eighty two valid samples were collected and analyzed statistically using SPSS 23. In the preference according to the grape quality characteristics, consumers tended to prefer a sweet taste, black color, and seedless grapes. Regarding the importance of the grape selection attributes according to the level of grape consumption, the high consumption group considers texture, size, shape, color, ease of removing seeds, country of origin, area of production, certification, and brand to be more important. In satisfaction, the high consumption group rated satisfaction highly in texture, odor, size, shape, color, ease of removing peelings, ease of removing seeds, price, country of origin, area of production, certification, and brand. An analysis of the IPA of the grape selection attributes showed that improvement of price and shape attributes will be prioritized, and the development and management of properties, such as seeds, peelings, certification, and brand will be required. These results can be used to help improve the grape varieties and develop products that meet the consumer needs, secure the competitiveness of grape farmers, and revitalize the local economy.

전남 동부 지역 음식점들에 대한 관광객 선호도 평가 (Measuring the Tourist Preference for Restaurants in Eastern Area of Jeonnam)

  • The purpose of this study was to measure the estimated coefficient and marginal willingness to pay of attribute level: origin logo, origin description, traditional food, fusion food, service guarantee, and price, which influence tourist preference for restaurants. Also, the study identified the attribute which confers the highest importance to tourists. Conjoint experiment and the ordinal probit model were used for this study. A total of 210 surveys were conducted by tourists. The findings from this study were as follows. First, the effects of all attributes on tourist preference for restaurants were statistically significant. Second, tourists regarded an origin logo as the very important attribute, and were more willing to pay for the case where the menu contained origin logo. These findings suggested new marketing opportunities for restaurant managers. Although this study provides some evidence on the value of the local product brand to tourists, a similar measure has not been developed for local residents. This is an area in need of future research.

유통업체 상표의 지각된 정보단서가 이의 지각품질, 지각희생 및 선호에 미치는 영향 (An Influence of Private Brand′s Perceived Cues on It′s Proneness)

  • 기존자료에 의하면 우리나라 유통업체 상표가 제조업체 상표에 비해 평균 23.3% 저렴하여 가격경쟁력을 갖는다고 한다. 하지만 유통업체 상표가 소매점 매출에서 차지하는 비율은 미국의 경우 25-30%에 육박하는 것으로 추산되는데 비해 우리나라는 아직 4% 정도로 미미한 수준이다. 그 이유를 본 연구에서는 유통업체 상표가 갖는 정보의 단서효과에서 찾고 있다. 유통업체 상표가 갖는 정보단서가 이의 선호로 연결되는 과정을 지각가치의 수단-목표모델로 설명하여 10개의 가설을 설정하였다. 가설은 E-마트 서부산점에서 포장소비재를 구입한 소비자를 대상으로 검증하였는데, 그 결과 중 흥미로운 것은 다음과 같다. 먼저, 외재단서 중 상표태도가 유통업체 상표의 정보단서로서 가장 중요하며, 지금까지 연구되지 않았던 내재단서가 정보단서로 중요함이 새로 밝혀졌다. 다음으로, 제조업체 상표를 준거가격으로 사용하는 지각가격도 유통업체 상표의 정보단서로 중요하였다. 끝으로, 정보단서와 선호를 연결하는 지각가치를 구성하는 두 요소인 지각품질과 지각희생 중 지각품질만이 유통업체상표 선호와 정(+)의 관계를 보여, 혁신층에 가까운 4%는 위험추구적 성향이 강함을 시사하고 있다.

The Effects of Country-Of-Online Retailer on Consumer's Purchase Decision-Making in a Foreign Internet Shopping Mall

  • Purpose - The growth in consumers' online shopping has even been accelerated by the COVID-19 pandemic. While the purchase can be made from any countries online, the purpose is to examine the effect of the country of the online retailer (COOR) on consumers' perceived risk and purchase motivation, focusing on the retailer not on the brand. Design/methodology - Survey data from online shoppers are analized using the structural equation model. Findings - COOR, like COO of the brand manufacturer, positively affect consumer's purchase intension. First, the images and the perceived psychic distances of the COOR affects both perceived risk and purchase confidence. Secondly, this perceived risk and confidence they put on the transaction then affect the purchase intension of the consumer. Originality/value - We show that the quality of the signal comes not only from the manufacturer-branded product item itself with a certain COO, but also from the retailer who carries it.

경기미의 유통개선 방안에 관한 연구;미곡종합처리장의 벼 가공 및 판매를 중심으로 (Improvement of Marketing and Distribution of Gyeonggi Rice Brand)

  • Gyeonggi rice has been placed relatively favorable market position in the domestic rice market. With the superiority of its quality, gyeonggi rice has been well recognized to consumers. The price of gyeonggi rice has placed higher position than that of others. But, gyeonggi rice are facing crisis on the competition by regional brands. Therefore, this study was carried out to find the differentiated marketing strategies on problem related with the product differentiation and brand marketing of gyeonggi rice. In order to find out how much the effort on the product differentiation of gyeonggi rice affects the price and brand recognition, fifty RPCs in gyeonggi province were surveyed. As the results, $22{\sim}23%$ of harvested rice which was gathered into RPC was come out 'obscurity of production origin' when we consider material hull rice in the original production territory by collecting time and channel. With comparing sales weight of gyeonggi rice by the place of shipment, agricultural cooperative channel was the highest by 44.7%. And, wholesaler comes to 17.7%, discount outlet store was 13.9%, large quantity delivery in business was 11.1%, and department store was only 5.2%. Finally, we could consider to adopt the traceability system on gyeonggi rice distribution system from production to consumers' table to get consumers' credibility and compete imported high quality rice.

중국 수출확대를 위한 한국 농식품 브랜드 아이덴티티 정립 (A Study of Korean Agri-Food Brand Identities for Expanding Exports to China)

  • Purpose - The purpose of this study is to target Chinese consumers of Korean agri-food through the analysis of agri-food brand identity images to set future directions for proposed agri-food exports to China. Since negotiations began for a free trade agreement (FTA) between Korea and China, some Koreans have worried about the Korean agriculture sector. The world trading system has undergone many changes in recent years. Since the start of FTA negotiations on agriculture, China and Korea have faced a heightened sense of crisis. China is trying to export agricultural products so actively that its agricultural exports could increase by more than 7% annually. China exported about one-tenth of its agricultural products to Korea in the period 2002-2010. Recently, the importance of brand identity has tended to increase, as the world becomes one unified market. In this situation, we should try to promote agri-food exports to China. It is very important to understand consumers' recognition of Korean food and the image of the Korean agri-food industry, to establish an export strategy. Research design, data, and methodology - This study targeted 2,800 adult men and women aged 25-59 years living in four major cities in China (Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Qingdao) with a household income within the top 10% level in the China, using the one-to-one interview survey method. In addition, four groups by region (eight people per group) for a total of 32 groups were surveyed by using the focus group interview (FGI) research method, and impressions of imported agri-food were surveyed using 17 questions about fresh agri-food and 22 questions on processed agri-food. Factor analysis, brand positioning, biplot analysis, and so on, were carried out based on the results of these surveys. This research presents the brand identity of Korean food; according to the analyses, the brand identity is based on trust, safety, and attractiveness. Result - Factor analysis results showed that Chinese consumers expect four major qualities in imported fresh agri-food: freshness/safety, attractive appearance, premium branding, and excellent taste/quality. In the case of processed agri-food, it turned out that Chinese consumers are focused on safety/hygiene/freshness, health, and taste. In addition, in the fresh agri-food analysis by country, American foods had the upper hand; the image of American foods was also recognized as the most positive for processed agri-food. Meanwhile, according to the biplot analysis, Korean agri-food is strongly preferred for its appearance, but no country is strongly preferred as regards the level of freshness/safety that is expected by Chinese consumers. Conclusions - In this study, we analyzed the image of imported agri-food expected by Chinese consumers by reconstructing agri-food characteristics from the brand perspective. The research result shows that a Korean brand identity must be the ultimate goal for activities undertaken to enhance the image of Korean agri-food in the future. Additional research is needed because brand image can be formed through various channels.
