  • A total 178 housewives in Gyoungnam province were surveyed with regard to branded pork purchasing behavior. The results of this study suggest the existence of income and age differences in attitudes toward branded pork. Based on the collected survey data, income level plays a significant role in the information/perception channel (p<0.01), purchasing power associated with brand name value (p<0.1), and attitudes toward quality assurance (p<0.01) of branded pork. Consumer age was significantly different with regard to the purchase place (p<0.05) and purchase frequency (p<0.1) of branded pork.

  • This paper focuses on the sensitivity analysis for the calibration of an agent-based simulation that analyzes the brand-level diffusion dynamics of competing products in the domestic premium mid-sized car market. In this paper, we employ a consumer-agent model that imitates the purchasing characteristics and behaviors of the consumers. The group of consumer agents that are socially interconnected represents a virtual market. By spreading the product information from previous adopters to potential consumer agents in the virtual market, the word-of-mouth phenomenon emerges like in the real market. The phenomenon influences the product choice of potential consumer agents that causes the variation of the product diffusion dynamics. In this simulation model, it is important to calibrate the virtual market parameters(e.g., ratio of innovators, social network structure, purchase time decision method) so that the virtual market can simulate the real market. However, it is difficult to measure these parameters directly from the real market. In this paper, we analyze the diffusion dynamics of simulations under various conditions in comparison with real sales data to calibrate the parameters.

  • The purpose of this study is to test the effects of articulation and sponsorship according to the native fit level. Especially this study is focused on the moderating effect of articulation type and thinking style. The results of this study are as follows. 1) An articulation effect appears more in the low native fit than the high one. 2), 3) The moderating effect appears in articulation type, but partially in thinking style. Namely, the difference in the articulation effect appears between commercial and non commercial articulation, but it does partially between holistic thinkers and analytic thinkers. 3) The higher articulation effect is, the more sponsorship effect(attitude toward sponsor and sponsor brand) is. The results of this study contribute theoretical and managerial implications about articulation and its effect as an effective means in marketing communications.

  • This study investigates coffee consumers' perceptions of coffee shops, using the Importance-Performance Analysis and the Fishbein Attitude Model approach. A survey was carried out in coffee shops(2010, 12/6~12/20), and 175 out of 200 copies of questionnaire were returned from the coffee shops. After excluding 27 unusable cases which had an unacceptable level of missing data, 148 cases were used for analysis. The IPA showed that an attractive facade, toilet cleanliness, coffee freshness, coffee taste were included in the area of maintaining good results while coffee price was in the area of concentrating efforts, which coffee shop managers should improve. Also, the analysis using the Fishbein attitude model showed that coffee taste, an attractive facade, toilet cleanliness, and coffee freshness were in order of importance, and Starbucks, Angelinus, Caffebene, and Pascucci are in order of brand preference. Although this study has some limitations(such as self-report, common method bias), it shows significant implications to coffee shop managers.

The purposes of this study were to identify market segments according to technological innovativeness and clothing involvement, and to compare the differences in lifestyles, benefits of fashion information app sought, and intention to use. The data were collected from smart phone users in their 10s to 30s in 2013, and a total of 292 data sets were analyzed. The findings of this study were as follows. The respondents were divided into three groups, innovative group, clothing involvement group, and passive group. Significant differences were found among three segments in terms of age, marital status, education level, and monthly income. With respect to five lifestyle factors, innovative group and clothing involvement group had higher mean scores for rational purchase, personal relationship, and personality pursuit than passive group. However, these two groups showed differences in brand pursuit factor. The benefits of the fashion information app were generated into two factors, information benefit and enjoyment benefit. Innovative group and clothing involvement group had higher values than passive group in these two factors. Finally, innovative group had the highest value on the intention to use fashion information app. This study attempts to provide fundamental information about the potential market segment for managers or marketers developing fashion information apps.

  • As a model house has attempted a role change from a conceptual perspective as a housing cultural center starting from the 90ties, it began to direct the change into a high end building. In particular, large construction companies have recently invested on an unimagined scale, unlike in the past, in building a model house and pursued the construction of new attractions of cities as well as the upgrade of a brand image by hiring and implementing the designs of celebrity architects or designers. In addition, they have been in pursuit of a change by enhancing the satisfaction and pride of residents by offering spaces and programs for various cultural arts for apartment residents or potential customers and having them participate in those programs. This study aims to expound on the possibility of the utilization of a housing cultural center as a local complex community center by analyzing the spatial organization and the operational program of a housing cultural center appearing since the 90ties. With this aim, the study analyzed the cases of a complex community center and the program and the operational method of a housing cultural center within the case study in order to propose the possibilities for the utilization of a local complex community center. The elevation of the cultural and economic level of citizens and a rapid social change are shown as various demands for welfare, and the subsequent social physical change has led to the expansion of a space as a complex community. A housing cultural center is also directed to grow as a complex community center from the perspective of diverse demands and participations of consumers, and prepares a field for a broad spectrum of communications from the perspective of housing and cities.

  • This study makes use of meta-analysis to statistically integrate the quantitative results of individual research on the influence of fashion product attributes on purchase; in addition, this study utilizes the effect sizes of correlation coefficients. This study was based on 24 individual studies from January 2000 to March 2015. The meta-analysis analyzed 91 effect sizes and 24 studies and calculated the correlation coefficient effect sizes. A random effect model was employed for meta-analysis because the results for the homogeneity test indicated that the effect sizes of each research were heterogeneous. The analysis results are as follows. First, when the total effect sizes of the fashion product attributes that influence clothing purchase decisions were calculated as .256; this indicated that the effect size is slightly below the mid-sized level. Second, upon examining the effect sizes of the categorized fashion product attributes, the intrinsic attributes yielded .222, extrinsic factors yielded .235, and the compiled attributes yielded .420; this demonstrated that the compiled attributes have a larger effect size than individual attributes. Third, when they were measured by the characteristics of study targets, they were larger for a mixed-gender group than women as well as for ordinary citizens than university students. When the effect sizes were measured based on the characteristics of fashion products as suggested in the study, there were significant differences with respect to sportswear, followed by SPA brand clothing, general clothing, fashion accessories, and designer clothing. The cases where the clothing were purchased in non-retail stores were found to have a slightly larger effect size than those of offline retail stores when the effect sizes were measured based on purchase routes; however, the difference was not statistically significant. Next, an investigation of the trend of effect sizes based on published year via the meta regression analysis indicated slightly larger effect sizes as shown in more recent publications, but this was not statistically significant.
