고해상 PIV시스템을 이용한 분지관내3차원 맥동유동 가시화 (Visualization of Three-Dimensional Pulsatile Flow in a Branching Model using the High-Resolution PIV System)

  • The objective of the present study was to visualize the pulsatile flow field in a branching model by using the high-resolution PIV system. A bifurcated flow system was built for the experiments in the pulsatile flow. Harvard pulsatile pump was used to generate the pulsatile velocity waveforms. Conifer powder as the tracing particles was added to water to visualize the flow fields. Two consecutive particle images at several cross sections of the flow filed were captured by the CCD cameras ($1K{\ast}1K$ and $640{\ast}480$). The results after the image processing clearly showed the recirculation zones and the formation of the paired secondary flows from the distal to the apex in the bifurcated model. The results also indicated that the flow velocities in the inner wall moved faster than those in the outer wall due to the inertial force effects and the helical motions generated in the branch flows as the flow proceeded toward the outer wall. While the PIV images from the $1K{\ast}1K$ camera were closer to the simulation results thantheimagesfromthe640${\ast}$480camera,bothresultsofthePIVexperimentsusingthetwocamerasgenerallyagreed quitewellwiththeresultsfromthenumericalsimulation.

콘빔 CT를 이용한 하악 제3대구치부의 부하악관 평가 (Assessment of accessory mandibular canal in mandibular third molars using cone-beam computed tomography)

  • Purpose: This study was performed to examine distribution of accessory mandibular canal and its characteristics in mandibular third molars. Materials and methods: A total of 251 subjects (166 males and 85 females) having mandibular third molars bilaterally were included in the study. Cone-beam computed tomographic images were reviewed for bifid or trifid accessory mandibular canal. The prevalence of accessory mandibular canal was evaluated according to gender, side and its branching type. Proximity and crosssectional position of accessory mandibular canal to mandibular third molar was analyzed. Results: Accessory mandibular canals were found in 66 (26.3%) of 251 patients and 86 (17.1%) of 502 hemi-mandibles. Gender and sides showed no statistically significant differences in prevalence. Retromolar canal (46.1%) was the most common branching type. Proximity of accessory canal to mandibular third molars showed mean distance of 2.8 mm from third molar and a statistically significant difference was found among types of accessory canal. Dental canal was the closest to tooth among branching types and closer to tooth than main canal. On cross-sectional view, accessory canal was generally located on buccal side of mandibular third molar. Conclusion: Accessory mandibular canal was common and well detected with cone-beam computed tomography. Their localization is significant in all anesthetic and surgical procedures involving mandibular third molars.

Chain Transfer to Monomer and Polymer in the Radical Polymerization of Vinyl Neo-decanoate

  • Molecular weight distributions of poly(vinyl neo-decanoate) produced by the bulk polymerization of the monomer to low conversions were investigated to obtain values of the rate constants for the chain transfer to monomer ( $C_{M}$). The value of $C_{M}$ of 7.5($\pm$0.6)${\times}$10$^{-4}$ was obtained from a logarithmic plot of the number distribution at 5,25, and 5$0^{\circ}C$, which suggests that the activation energy for chain transfer is on the order of 20-25 kJ ㏖$^{-1}$ . These plots were linear between the number and weight-average degrees of polymerization, but not over the whole molecular weight range for which a significant signal was observed in the gel permeation chromatography (GPC) trace. Modeling suggests that the deviations observed at high molecular weights can be explained by branching of the chains through chain transfer to the polymer, with a branching density as low as 10$^{-5}$ , without affecting the slope at low values of the number of monomer unit, N. This deviation from the expected distribution of linear chains was used to estimate the branching densities at low conversion.ion.

지역냉방용 직접순환식 아이스슬러리 시스템의 현장적용 사례 (A Field Application Case of Direct Ice Slurry Transporting System for District Cooling)

  • In order to investigate the feasibility of a direct ice slurry transporting system for the purpose of district cooling, a case study of field application is performed. The research aims include the field measurement of ice packing factor, the performance of coldness delivery, and the branching characteristics of ice slurry. Two representative types of pipe branch are dealt with in this work. For the slurry flow with ice volume fraction of 0.16 or less, the pipe blocking due to aggregation is not observed. Based on the time-wise variation of temperature in the storage tank, a calculating method of ice packing factor is newly developed, which seems to be useful when the brine concentration is unknown. It is confirmed that the mass flow rate of ice slurry per unit cooling load is markedly reduced with increasing the ice content. The pumping power also decreases, but remains unchanged for high ice fractions. The distribution of ice particle before and after branching shows a good uniformity within the range of 5% difference, but yields a unique trend depending on the flow rate.

땅콩의 초형별 개화습성 (Inflorescence Habits of Different Plant Types in Peanut)

  • This study was conducted to investigate the inflorescence habit mainly on major in farmer's peanut cultivar of the Shinpung plant type "Daekwang" of sequential branching and the Virginia plant type "Daepung" of alternate branching until maximum flowering dates. All flowers of two pairs of opposite branch in "Daekwang" showed almost symmetrical flowering order and in "Daepung" also showed similar tendency though it had somewhat irregalar alternate branching type in opposite branches. The lowest node in each branch had seven flowers while upper nodes had less flowers in this period. The first flower in "Daekwang" was born at first node of second branch of cotyledonary branches compared to those of "Daepung" at first reproductive branch of cotyledonary branches. One pair of cotyledonary branches had two-thirds of total flowers in two cultivars. Dates of average flower proceeding between nodes in each branch of "Daekwang" were appeared 4.32 days in main axil, 1st and 2nd opposite primary branches were 4.44 and 5.13 days, and 1st and 2nd secondary branches were 5.81 and 6.41 days respectively, but "Daepung" showed similar flower proceeding dates in all branches. but "Daepung" showed similar flower proceeding dates in all branches.

Bilateral unusual branching pattern of the external carotid artery in a human cadaver

  • Comprehensive understanding of the variations in the branching of the external carotid artery (ECA) is essential to minimizing vascular complications during cranio-facial and neck surgical procedures. We demonstrate a rare case of unusual branching of ECAs in both carotid triangles and anomalous origin of the left ascending pharyngeal artery (APA) during dissection of embalmed cadaver. The right and left common carotid arteries (CCA) bifurcated at the level of the upper border of the thyroid cartilage. The right superior thyroid artery (STA) originated anterior to the carotid bifurcation (CB), while the left STA originated from the anterior aspect of the left CCA. The right ECA trifurcated into linguofacial trunk, APA, and distal ECA, 15.7 mm from CB. On the left side, lingual artery and APA arose as a short common linguopharyngeal trunk, 1.9 mm from CB. The left facial and occipital arteries originated anteromedially and posteriorly at the same level.

고차원펄스 스펙트럼 분석을 위한 이러닝 시스템의 설계 (Design of e-Learning System for Spectral Analysis of High-Order Pulse)

  • 본 논문에서는 고차원펄스의 스펙트럼을 유도하는 체계적인 방법을 제시하고, 이를 학습내용으로 하는 효율적인 이러닝 시스템을 설계한다. 고차원펄스의 스펙트럼은 연속미분법이나 콘볼루션법 등 기존의 방법에 의하여 유도될 수 있으나, 그 차수가 증가함에 따라 현저하게 높아지는 복잡도 때문에 사용할 수 없다. 우리는 고차원펄스의 차수에 따라 순환적으로 적용되는 알고리듬을 제시하고, 이를 찾아보기표에 의하여 함수적으로 차수에 연관된 스펙트럼의 식을 유도한다. 또한, 이를 이용하여 고차원펄스의 스펙트럼을 분석하는 과정을 학습하는 이러닝 콘텐츠를 설계한다. 여기에는 기존의 순차적 재생을 기본으로 하여 이른바 개념단위 오브젝트별 분기방식을 적용하는 콘텐츠 처리방식이 사용된다. 모델링, 임펄스응답과 전달함수, 파라미터, 찾아보기표 등 전체를 네 개의 개념단위로 분할한 콘텐츠페이지를 설계하고, 이들로부터 하향식으로 분화된 개념단위들을 모듈과 서브모듈로 설정한다. 이들은 개념단위 오브젝트별 분기방식에 의하여 학습자에게 다양한 학습순서와 반복학습 등을 제공하여 상호작용을 증대하고, 저작된 이러닝 콘텐츠에 의한 학습효과를 현저히 향상시킨다. 또한, 콘텐츠 자체의 효율성 측면에서도 현저한 향상을 이룬다.

토너 바인더용 분지화된 탄성 폴리에스테르 공중합체의 합성: 분지제의 영향 (Preparation of Elastic Branched Copolyester for Toner Binder: Effects of Branching Agents)

  • 분지화된 폴리에스테르계 공중합체를 제조하고, 공중합체의 분자량, 용융점도, $T_g$, 1/2 method temperature($T_{1/2}$) 및 레올로지 특성을 고찰하여 레이저 프린터 토너 바인더로의 적용을 검토하였다. 디메틸테레프탈레이트(DMT), 에틸렌글리콜(EG), 2,2-bis(4-(2-hydroxypropoxy)phenyl)propane(HPP)으로 제조한 선형공중합체는 분자량이 낮고, 용융탄성이 낮아 이를 개선하기 위하여 분지제로 3 또는 4 관능기를 가진 2-(hydroxymethyl)-2-ethylpropane-1,3-diol(trimethylol propane, TMP), 2,2-bi(hydroxymethyl)-1,3-propanediol(pentaerythritol, PER), 1,2,4-benzenetricarboxylic anhydride(trimellitic anhydride, TMA), 글리세롤 등을 첨가하여 분지화된 공중합체를 제조하였다. 분지제의 함량과 종류에 따른 열적, 레올로지 특성을 고찰하였다. 분지제의 함량이 15 mol% 이상 첨가한 공중합체는 $140^{\circ}C$ 정도의$T_{1/2}$ 값을 가지고, 높은 분자량과 용융탄성을 나타내어 토너를 융착 인쇄하는 레이저 프린터의 핫멜트 토너로서 적당하였다.

부분불소계 Poly(Arylene Ether Sulfone) 블록이오노머막의 전기화학적 특성에 대한 분지체 함량의 효과 (Effect of Branching-agent Content on the Electrochemical Properties of Partially Fluorinated Poly(Arylene Ether Sulfone) Block Ionomer Membranes)

  • 연료전지용 프로톤 전도성 고분자로서 분지체 함량이 조절된 부분불소계 Sulfonated poly(arylene ether sulfone) 이오노머 블록공중합체막의 합성 및 특성에 관하여 연구하였다. 분지형태의 부분불소계 블록고분자 전해질막 제조를 위해 설폰화 활성이 높은 단량체, 설폰화 활성이 낮은 단량체 그리고 분지체를 합성하였고, 블록형성을 위해 biphenyl계 올리고머를 합성하였다. 분지체의 양에 따른 막 특성변화를 고찰하기 위해, biphenyl계 올리고머와 sulfonyl계 단량체의 몰 비를 4 : 6으로 고정하고 분지체의 함량을 2 mol%까지 늘려가면서 중부가형태의 열중합을 통하여, 다른 분지체의 함량을 가지는 공중합체를 얻었다(BBC-40Bx). 제조된 분지형태의 공중합체들을 chlorosulfonic acid (CSA)를 사용하여 후설폰화(post-sulfonation)하였다(SBBC-40Bx). 제조된 화합물, 단량체, 분지체 및 중합체들은 $^1H$-NMR, $^{19}F$-NMR 및 FT-IR분석을 통하여 성공적으로 합성되었음을 확인하였다. 분지형태의 블록공중합체(SBBC-40Bx)는 분지체의 함량이 증가함에 따라 이온교환능력(IEC), 함수율 및 이온전도도가 증가하는 경향을 보였다.

입자영상유속계를 이용한 분기관내 유동가시화 (Flow Visualization in the Branching Duct by Using Particle Imaging Velocimetry)

  • 본 연구는 목적은 PIV 시스템을 이용하여 분기관내 유동현상을 가시화하여 분기부 영역의 유동특성을 분석하는데 있다. PIV 시스템으로 유동장을 가시화하기 위해서 분기관 모델은 투명 아크릴판으로 제작하였고 작동유체와 추적입자는 각각 물과 송화가루를 사용하였다. 유동장에서 획득된 영상으로부터 속도벡터를 얻기 위해서 입자추적방법의 1-프레임 법과 2-프레임 법, 상호상관 PIV법인 2-프레임법을 사용하였다. PIV 시스템으로 측정된 실험결과의 신뢰성을 확보하기 위해서 표면구동 캐비티 유동의 속도분포를 4-프레임법으로 얻어진 기준 실험 데이터와 비교하였다. 분기관에서 뉴턴유체의 유동현상을 효과적으로 가시화하는데 필요한 상호상관 PIV방법의 2-프레임법을 적용하는 알고리즘을 개발하였고, sub-pixel과 면적보간을 사용하여 오벡터를 제거후 최종속도벡터를 얻었다. PIV를 이용한 분기관내 유동가시와 실험결과를 신뢰할 수 있는 수치해석 결과를 이용하여 검증한 결과 PIV 실험으로 얻어진 속도벡터는 수치해석의 결과와 잘 일치하였다. PIV 실험과 수치해석 결과로부터 분기관모델의 분기점 원위부에 재순환영역이 형성됨이 확인되었고 두 다른 방법을 이용한 재순환영역의 길이와 높이는 거의 동일하였다.
