  • CN and CH band strengths for fourteen bright giants in the globular cluster M71 have been measured from archival spectra obtained with the Multiple Mirror Telescope. Adding the collected. data from the literature we confirm a bimodality of CN distribution on the red giant branch and the honzontal branch, and CN-CH anti-correlations on the lower giant branch and horizontal branch. However a CN-CH anti-correlation on the upper red giant branch is not quite clear as those of other branches. The small number If statistics could not be excluded as a possible cause. To confirm this, a greater number of sample stars are needed. We also confirm that the ratio of CN-strong to CN-weak stars is quite different from that in 47 Tuc, although the anti-correlation between CN and CH bands, the bimodality of the CN distribution, and the spatial distribution of CN stars in M71 are found to be similar to those III 47 Tuc.

  • In this paper, we present a cost effective parallel-branch spiral inductor with the enhanced quality factor and the resonance frequency. This structure is designed to improve the quality factor, but different from other fully stacked spiral inductors. The parallel-branch effect is increased by overlapping the first metal below the second metal with same direction. Measurement result shows an increased quality factor of 12 % improvement. Also, we show an octagonal parallel-branch inductor which reduces the parasitic capacitances for higher frequency applications.

  • In this paper, we consider a two-machine re-entrant permutation flowshop scheduling problem with the objective of minimizing total flowtime, and suggest branch and bound algorithms for the scheduling problem. In this scheduling problem, each job must be processed twice on each machine, that is, each job should be processed on the two machines in the order of machine 1, machine 2 and then machine 1 and machine 2. In this research, based on the results of existing researches for re-entrant permutation flowshop scheduling problems, various dominance properties, lower bound and heuristic algorithm are suggested for the problem, and those are used to develop branch and bound algorithms. In the computational experiments for evaluation of the performance of the algorithms, the suggested branch and bound algorithms are tested on randomly generated test problems and results are reported.

  • Unusual yellowish-green intramuscular granulomatous lesions were found in a carcass of Hanwoo(slaughtered, 30 month old). Those were 1-3 mm in diameter, oval shaped, and paralleled with muscle fibers. Histologically, severe inflammation, eosinophilic granulomas and necrosis were observed in the muscle tissue. We also observed sarcocysts in the muscle cells. In a polymerase chain reaction, we identified 900bp length, sarcocystis specific fragment. It would be diagnosed as sarcocystosis in Hanwoo.

  • This paper presents a profiling model of a wide-window superscalar microprocessor using multiple branch prediction. The key idea is to apply statistical profiling technique to the superscalar microprocessor with a wide instruction window and a multiple branch predictor. The statistical profiling data are used to obtain a synthetical instruction trace, and the consecutive multiple branch prediction rates are utilized for running trace-driven simulation on the synthesized instruction trace. We describe our design and evaluate it with the SPEC 2000 integer benchmarks. Our performance model can achieve accuracy of 8.5 % on the average.

  • Using the direct method, we prove the Hyers-Ulam stability of the orthogonally additive-quartic functional equation (0.1) $f(2x+y)+f(2x-y)=4f(x+y)+4f(x-y)+10f(x)+14f(-x)-3f(y)-3f(-y)$ for all $x$, $y$ with $x{\perp}y$, in non-Archimedean Banach spaces. Here ${\perp}$ is the orthogonality in the sense of R$\ddot{a}$tz.

  • A numerical simulation of membrane evaporation process was carried out in this work. The aim of simulation is to describe transport of water through porous membranes applicable to the concentration of aqueous solutions. A three-dimensional mathematical model was developed which considers transport phenomena including mass, heat, and momentum transfer in membrane evaporation process. The equations of model were then solved numerically using finite element method. The results of simulation in terms of evaporation flux were compared with experimental data, and confirmed the accuracy of model. Moreover, profile of pressure, concentration, and heat flux were obtained and analyzed. The results revealed that developed 3D model is capable of predicting performance of membrane evaporators in concentration of aqueous solutions.

  • This paper describes the overvoltage of branch line in underground distribution systems when the direct lightning surge strikes on conductor of overhead line. Distribution systems are very complex because that includes so many branch lines, transformers, switches and so on. Therefor model systems consist of overhead distribution lines, underground cable include branch lines, lightning source and switches. Those are established by EMTP/ATPDraw. Simulation analyzes surge behavior on branch lines considering various conditions in underground distribution systems. Simulation results shoe overvoltage with location in various cases.
