  • HILS(Hardware-In-the-Loop Simulation) is a scheme that incorporates hardware components of primary concern in the numerical simulation environment. Due to its advantages over actual vehicle test and pure simulation, HILS is being widely accepted in automotive industries as test benches for vehicle control units. Developed in this study is a HILS system for EHB(Electro-Hydraulic Brake) systems that include a high pressure generator and a valve control system that independently modulates the brake pressures at four wheels. An EHB control logic was tested in the HILS system. Test results under various driving conditions are presented and compared with the VDC logic.

  • Eviction characteristics of two typical friction materials (non-asbestos organic and low-steel friction materials) for an automotive brake system were investigated using an inertial brake dynamometer. In particular, the effect of sliding speed on friction coefficient was carefully investigated employing various test modes. The two friction materials were developed for commercial applications and were different mainly in the type and the amount of metallic ingredients in the friction material. The dynamometer test showed that the low-steel friction material was sensitive to the sliding speed exhibiting a negative $\mu$-v relation. On the other hand, the non-asbestos organic friction material was less sensitive to the sliding speed. The low steel friction materials with a negative $\mu$-v relation also induced larger vibration amplitude during brake applications.

  • Analysis of squeal noise generated during brake operation is an important task for the improvement of brake noise prob-lem. By the use of measuring instrument and techniques, test and evaluation process are to be developed systematically in quantitative analysis. The cost far test and evaluation 7an be reduced, and the technical power can be raised by the devel- oped system.

  • This study is to develop a Fe-based disc brake tinning with sponge structure for passenger car of 150km/h train and to concept design with 3 groove type for brake disc reducing hot hair-crack and certainly friction coeifficient. The developping brake linning would be to presumption of thermal stress Max.5.53k9/m0 of the 3 groove type. and It is stable friction coeifficient and wear rate on the Full Scale Brake dynamometer. So 3 groove type must be reduced to hot stress between Brake disc and Linning and Friction temperature is reduced about 20$^{\circ}C$

  • This paper deals with analytical methods for low frequency and high frequency brake squeal noise on brake-rear caliper. In order to improve low frequency and high frequency squeal noise, we take survey caliper bracket shape parameters and housing shape parameters. Besides, using the combination of bracket and housing parameter were surveyed. Thus, using the combination of bracket Alt_05 and housing Alt_45 specifications, instability analysis and brake dynamo test were carried out. Based upon the two models, low and high frequency squeal noise of base model were improved. But, for 6.0 kHz frequency noise, which is not improved, it needs to additionally study on instability analysis and combination of the other brake components.

  • The parking brake is an essential unit embedded in the track-driving motor of an excavator. The parking brake plays an important role in keeping the excavator in place not only when it is parked, but also during the digging operation. In fact, the load placed on the parking brake during the digging operation is significantly higher than the parking load, because the impact and rating loads caused by the bucket digging force cycle frequently and have very high load ranges. Therefore, the load conditions during the digging operation should be taken into account in the parking brake certification test. In this study, a series of experiments was carried out in which various operating pressures were applied to the parking brake, where repeated loads were reciprocally placed on the brake by locking the multifriction disc and releasing the hydraulic cylinder. The characteristics of the parking brake were investigated by comparing the obtained experimental results and the theoretical design specifications.

  • The strength test was done for the Carbon/Carbon rotor disk which is the critical part of a carbon/carbon brake system in an operating time. The loading fixture was designed for the static strength test of a single carbon/carbon brake disk using finite element analysis. To simulate the real dynamic system in a static condition, the friction surface of the rotor disk was fixed and static load was applied to the rotor slot in the circumferential direction. The described failure mechanism of the brake disk can be described as matrix cracking occurred first at the contact surface of the rotor slot, subsequent delamination from the cracked contact surface, and the final fracture at the notch of the rotor.

  • The blending brake is mixed brake system which is operated by electrical and mechanical brake simultaneously. Most of urban transit system is used with blending brake unit. In order to train is align at the stopping position. The blending brake shall be presicely operated to the train. Many parameters are influence on the train when train is stopped on presicion position by blending brake. It is considered such parameters as decceleration, variable load, jerk, friction cofficient, etc. Therefore, This paper consider the parameter and describes the blending control for standard EMU. The control algorithm of it is proposed and simulation of it carried out by using MATLAB. Also Electronic control unit is manufactured with micro procesor which is configured fot blending control and is verified by performance test.

  • The hydraulic energy regnerative brake systems is introduced in this work. An accumulator stores kinetic energy during braking action, and the stored energy is used in a following acceleration action. The dynamic model of the brake system is derived for computer simulation study, and the Runge-Kutta numerical integration method is applied to the simulation work. Since the model contains several unknown parameters, these were determined by data which had been proceeded. Through a series of computer simulation , dynamic performance of the energy regenerative brake system is compared with that of a conventional system in which a conventional brake circuit is used. A series of test is carried out in the laboratory. The dynamic characteristics of the hydraulic motor system, such as the surge pressure and response time, are investigated in both brake action and acceleration action.
