The paper will give an overview of the mission of GalTeC and then concentrate on two main aspects. The first more detailed aspect, is the analysis of the key performance parameters for the Galileo system services and presenting a technical overview of methods and algorithms used. The second more detailed aspect, is the service volume prediction including service dimensioning using the Prediction tool. In order to monitor and validate the Galileo SIS performance for Open Service (OS) and Safety Of Life services (SOL) regarding the key performance parameters, different analyses in the SIS domain and User domain are considered. In the SIS domain, the validation of Signal-in-Space Accuracy SISA and Signal-in-Space Monitoring Accuracy SISMA is performed. For this purpose first of all an independent OD&TS and Integrity determination and processing software is developed to generate the key reference performance parameters named as SISRE (Signal In Space Reference Errors) and related over-bounding statistical information SISRA (Signal In Space Reference Accuracy) based on raw measurements from independent sites (e.g. IGS), Galileo Ground Sensor Stations (GSS) or an own regional monitoring network. Secondly, the differences of orbits and satellite clock corrections between Galileo broadcast ephemeris and the precise reference ephemeris generated by GalTeC will also be compared to check the SIS accuracy. Thirdly, in the user domain, SIS based navigation solution PVT on reference sites using Galileo broadcast ephemeris and the precise ephemeris generated by GalTeC are also used to check key performance parameters. In order to demonstrate the GalTeC performance and the methods mentioned above, the paper presents an initial test result using GPS raw data and GPS broadcast ephemeris. In the tests, some Galileo typical performance parameters are used for GPS system. For example, the maximum URA for one day for one GPS satellite from GPS broadcast ephemeris is used as substitution of SISA to check GPS ephemeris accuracy. Using GalTeC OD&TS and GPS raw data from IGS reference sites, a 10 cm-level of precise orbit determination can be reached. Based on these precise GPS orbits from GalTeC, monitoring and validation of GPS performance can be achieved with a high confidence level. It can be concluded that one of the GalTeC missions is to provide the capability to assess Galileo and general GNSS performance and prediction methods based on a regional and global monitoring networks. Some capability, of which first results are shown in the paper, will be demonstrated further during the planned Galileo IOV phase, the Full Galileo constellation phase and for the different services particularly the Open Services and the Safety Of Life services based on the Galileo Integrity concept.
The trajectory preservation property that stores only one trajectory in a leaf node is the most important feature of an index structure, such as the TB-tree for retrieving object's moving paths in the spatio-temporal space. It performs well in trajectory-related queries such as navigational queries and combined queries. But, the MBR of non-leaf nodes in the TB-tree have large amounts of dead space because trajectory preservation is achieved at the sacrifice of the spatial locality of trajectories. As dead space increases, the overlap between nodes also increases, and, thus, the classical range query cost increases. We present a new split policy and entry relocation policies, which have no deterioration of the performance for trajectory-related queries, for improving the performance of range queries. To maximally reduce the dead space of a non-leaf node's MBR, the Maximal Area Reduction (MAR) policy is used as a split policy for non-leaf nodes. The entry relocation policy induces entries in non-leaf nodes to exchange each other for the purpose of reducing dead spaces in these nodes. We propose two algorithms for the entry relocation policy, and evaluate the performance studies of new algorithms comparing to the TB-tree under a varying set of spatio-temporal queries.

Location Based Services(LBSs) in mobile environments become very popular recently. For efficient LBSs, spatial database management systems must need a spatial indexing scheme such as R-trees in order to manage the huge spatial database. However, it may need unnecessary disk accesses since it needs to access objects which are not actually concerned to user's location-based queries. In this paper, to support the location-based queries efficiently, we propose a CLR-tree(Cell Leveling R-tree) in which a dynamic cell is built up within the minimum bounding rectangle of R-trees' node. The cell level of nodes is compared with the query's cell level in location-based query processing and determines the minimum search space. Also, we propose the insertion, split, deletion, and search algorithms for CRL-trees. From the experimental results, we see that a CLR-tree is able to decrease $5{\sim}20%$ of disk accesses from those of R-trees. So, a CLR-tree can be used for fast accessing spatial objects to user's location-based queries in LBSs.

Moving objects have been widely employed in traffic and logistic applications. Spatio-temporal aggregations mainly describe the moving object's behavior in the spatial data warehouse. The previous works usually express the object moving in some certain region, but ignore the object often moving along as the trajectory. Other researches focus on aggregation and comparison of trajectories. They divide the spatial region into units which records how many times the trajectories passed in the unit time. It not only makes the storage space quite ineffective, but also can not maintain spatial data property. In this paper, a spatio-temporal aggregation index structure for moving object trajectory in constrained network is proposed. An extended B-tree node contains the information of timestamp and the aggregation values of trajectories with two directions. The network is divided into segments and then the spatial index structure is constructed. There are the leaf node and the non leaf node. The leaf node contains the aggregation values of moving object's trajectory and the pointer to the extended B-tree. And the non leaf node contains the MBR(Minimum Bounding Rectangle), MSAV(Max Segment Aggregation Value) and its segment ID. The proposed technique overcomes previous problems efficiently and makes it practicable finding moving object trajectory in the time interval. It improves the shortcoming of R-tree, and makes some improvement to the spatio-temporal data in query processing and storage.

In this paper, We propose a multi-dimensional index structure, called a VA (vector approximate) -tree that constructs a tree with vector approximates of multi-dimensional feature vectors. To save storage space for index structures, the VA-tree employs vector approximation concepts of VA-file that presents feature vectors with much smaller number of bits than original value. Since the VA-tree is a tree structure, it does not suffer from performance degradation owing to the increase of data. Also, even though the VA-tree is MBR Minimum Bounding Region) based tree structure like a R-tree, its split algorithm never allows overlap between MBRs. We show through various experiments that our proposed VA-tree is the efficient index structure for large amount of multi-dimensional data.
This paper presents a branch-and-bound algorithm for solving the concave minimization problem with upper bounded variables whose single constraint is linear. The algorithm uses simplex as partition element. Because the convex envelope which most tightly underestimates the concave function on the simplex is uniquely determined by solving the related linear equations. Every branching process generates two subsimplices one lower dimensional than the candidate simplex by adding 0 and upper bound constraints. Subsequently the feasible points are partitioned into two sets. During the bounding process, the linear programming problems defined over subsimplices are minimized to calculate the lower bound and to update the incumbent. Consequently the simplices which do certainly not contain the global minimum are excluded from consideration. The major advantage of the algorithm is that the subproblems are defined on the one less dimensinal space. It means that the amount of work required for the subproblem decreases whenever the branching occurs. Our approach can be applied to solving the concave minimization problems under knapsack type constraints.

With the progress of IT and mobile positioning technologies, various types of location-based services (LBS) have been proposed and implemented. Finding a shortest path between two nodes is one of the most fundamental tasks in many LBS related applications. So far, there have been many research efforts on the shortest path finding problem. For instance, $A^*$ algorithm estimates neighboring nodes using a heuristic function and selects minimum cost node as the closest one to the destination. Pruning method, which is known to outperform the A* algorithm, improves its routing performance by avoiding unnecessary exploration in the search space. For pruning, shortest paths for all node pairs in a map need to be pre-computed, from which a shortest path container is generated for each edge. The container for an edge consists of all the destination nodes whose shortest path passes through the edge and possibly some unnecessary nodes. These containers are used during routing to prune unnecessary node visits. However, this method shows poor performance as the number of unnecessary nodes included in the container increases. In this paper, we focus on this problem and propose a new border line-based pruning scheme for path routing which can reduce the number of unnecessary node visits significantly. Through extensive experiments on randomly-generated, various complexity of maps, we empirically find out optimal number of border lines for clipping containers and compare its performance with other methods.
Recently, to relieve the performance degradation caused by the bottleneck between CPU and main memory, cache conscious multi-dimensional index structures have been proposed. The ultimate goal of them is to reduce the space for entries so as to widen index trees and minimize the number of cache misses. The existing index structures can be classified into two approaches according to their entry reduction methods. One approach is to compress MBR keys by quantizing coordinate values to the fixed number of bits. The other approach is to store only the sides of minimum bounding regions (MBRs) that are different from their parents partially. In this paper, we propose a new index structure that exploits the properties of the both techniques. Then, we investigate the existing multi-dimensional index structures for main memory database system through experiments under the various work loads. We perform various experiments to show that our approach outperforms others.

CenterNet, a novel object detection algorithm without anchor based on key points, regards the object as a single center point for prediction and directly regresses the object's height and width. However, because the objects have different sizes, directly regressing their height and width will make the model difficult to converge and lose the intrinsic relationship between object's width and height, thereby reducing the stability of the model and the consistency of prediction accuracy. For this problem, we proposed an algorithm based on the regression of the diagonal half-length and the center angle, which significantly compresses the solution space of the regression components and enhances the intrinsic relationship between the decoded components. First, encode the object's width and height into the diagonal half-length and the center angle, where the center angle is the angle between the diagonal and the vertical centreline. Secondly, the predicted diagonal half-length and center angle are decoded into two length components. Finally, the position of the object bounding box can be accurately obtained by combining the corresponding center point coordinates. Experiments show that, when using CenterNet as the improved baseline and resnet50 as the Backbone, the improved model achieved 81.6% and 79.7% mAP on the VOC 2007 and 2012 test sets, respectively. When using Hourglass-104 as the Backbone, the improved model achieved 43.3% mAP on the COCO 2017 test sets. Compared with CenterNet, the improved model has a faster convergence rate and significantly improved the stability and prediction accuracy.
