  • The Soya Warm Current (SWC) is a coastal boundary current, which flows along the coast of Hokkaido in the Sea of Okhotsk. Seasonal and subinertial variations in the SWC are investigated using data obtained by high-frequency (HF) ocean radars, coastal tide gauges, and a bottom-mounted acoustic Doppler current profiler (ADCP). The HF radars clearly capture the seasonal variations in the surface current fields of the SWC. The velocity of the SWC reaches its maximum, approximately 1 m/s, in the summer, and becomes weaker in the winter. The velocity core is located 20 to 30 km from the coast, and its width is approximately 50 km. The almost same seasonal cycle was repeated in the period from August 2003 to March 2007. In addition to the annual variation, the SWC exhibits subinertial variations with a period from 10-15 days. The surface transport by the SWC shows a significant correlation with the sea level difference between the Sea of Japan and Sea of Okhotsk for both of the seasonal and subinertial variations, indicating that the SWC is driven by the sea level difference between the two seas. Generation mechanism of the subinertial variation is discussed using wind data from the European Centre for Medium-range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF) analyses. The subinertial variations in the SWC are significantly correlated with the meridional wind component over the region. The subinertial variations in the sea level difference and surface current delay from the meridional wind variations for one or two days. Continental shelf waves triggered by the meridional wind on the east coast of Sakhalin and west coast of Hokkaido are considered to be a possible generation mechanism for the subinertial variations in the SWC.

  • The non-linear characteristics of ON states are important for the application to the high density cross-point memory industry because the sneak current in neighbor cells occurred during reading, erasing, and writing process. Kw of above 20 in ON states, which is the writing current @ Vwrite/the current @ 1/2Vwrite, was required in cross-point ReRAM memory industry. The high current density non-linear IV curve of ZnSe selector was shown and the ALD HfO2 switching device has the linear properties of ON states and the compliance current of 100 uA. To evaluate the performance of the selection device, we connected itto HfO2 switching device in series. The bottom electrode of the selection device was connected to the top electrode of the RRAM. All of the bias was applied with respect to the top electrode of the selection device, whereas the bottom electrode of the RRAM was grounded. In the cross-point application, 1/2Vwrite and -1/2Vwrite were applied to the word-line and bit-line, respectively, which were connected to the selected cell, and a zero bias was applied to the unselected word-lines and bit-lines. The current @ 1/2Vwrite of the unselected cells was blocked by the selection device, thus eliminating the sneak path and obtaining a writing voltage margin. Using this method, the writing voltage margin was analyzed on the basis of the memory size.

  • The water movements in the south sea of Korea are deduced from the distributions of water properties. In summer the flow path of the Tsushima Current is deflected off from the Korean coast; between the coast and the current there exist eddies. Cyclonic eddies are particularly dominant in the southeastern area of Sorido Is. In winter, the sunken coastal water flows out along the bottom toward the southeast, and compensation is made at the surface by the coastward intrusion of off-shore waters. The so-called coastal counter- current of the area seems to be a cyclonic eddy which prevails in summer and autumn.

  • Effects of the changes in bottom topography and non-linearity of the western boundary current on the separation position of the Tsushima Warm Current(TWC) are investigated using a primitive equation model in a simplified model domain which consists of a deep ocean, a continental shelf and a marginal sea(Fig. 1). • The key objective of this paper is to suggest a pilot model for mobile network interconnection charge calculation by bottom-up long-run incremental costing methodology. Interconnection issues have lately attracted considerable attention by network operators and regulators. However there is no standard by all the network operators' agreement. The costing method is an acute problem because the interconnection charge is directly related to the network operators' revenue. Thus Korea has planned to launch the new interconnection policy based on the current traffic distribution and then we simulate the model in a sample area with virtual data. The results propose objective and reasonable guideline for the mobile network element cost calculation. It can be helpful for calculating price floor or bottom-up long run incremental interconnection charge by regulator.

  • Reappraisal of the design and the construction concept of the bottom drainage tunnel has been made through the seepage analysis. An appropriate design approach for this tunnel has also been proposed. It was revealed from this study that water pressures acting on the concrete lining in the bottom dralnage tunnel much depend on the permeability of the surrounding ground, the source of water supply and the discharge capacity of dralnage facilities. The full release of these water pressures by the current drainage system could not be expected if this type of tunnel is constructed in the ground including alluvial deposits having a high permeability. The necessity of a proper reinforcement of the concrete lining or a modification of its shapes corresponding to the water pressure has been suggested.

  • For display drivers employ typically a-Si n-channel field effect transistors, they require an inverted OLED structure with a cathode as the bottom contact. ITO is regarded as the bottom cathode and can be applied to large size AM-OLED and transparent inverted OLEDs. We report the effective structure to improve the efficiency of electron injection from ITO cathode to $Alq_3$. We report the effective structure to improve the efficiency of electron injection from ITO cathode to Alq3 and studied the current density-voltage characteristics of trilayer ($Alq_3-LiF-Al$), LiF and Mg inserted between ITO and $Alq_3$, respectively. We discovered that 1 nm Mg afforded the highest efficiency.

  • Density currents formed by buoyancy discharges from rivers are numerically studied using non-dimensional two layer model including Coriolis acceleration, bottom stress, interfacial friction. Some typical numbers such as Froude number, densimetric Froude number and Kelvin number are obtained and some characteristic scales are defined as a result of non-dimensionalization of the governing equations. Besides the Coriolis effect, the configurations of bottom topography, bottom friction coefficient and interfacial friction are found to significantly affect the propagation of the warm water plume. Frontal position can fastly propagate in the case of large density difference between the two layers and small interfacial friction. Left side boundary current is easily formed under the small interfacial friction. With large Kelvin number, both right and left side boundary currents are formed. Wave-like disturbances and eddies are easily formed under the high Froude number.

  • This study shows that the vertical migration speed of sound scattering layers (SSLs), which is distributed in near Funka Bay, were measured by 3D velocity components acquired from a bottom moorng ADCP. While the bottom mooring type has a problem to measure the velocity vectors of sound scattering layer distributed near to surface, both the continuous vertical migration patterns and variability of backscatterers were routinely investigated as well. In addition, the velocity vectors were compared with the vertical migration velocity estimated from echograms of Mean Volume Backscattering Strength, and estimated to produce observational bias due to SSLs which is composed of backscatterers such as euphausiids, nekton, and fishes have swimming ability.
