An occupant analysis code SAFE (Safety Analysis For occupant crash Environment) is utilized to simulate and improve the crash performance of an energy absorbing steering system. The safety standard FMVSS 203 is simulated and used for design evaluations . Segments and contact elliposids are utilized to model the bod blocks and the components of the steering system with SAFE. Spring-damper elements and force-deflection characteristics are utilized to model the energy absorbing components such as the plate and the polyacetal molding. The plate absorbs the impact energy through tensile deformation . Whereas, the polyacetal molding absorbs the impact energy through compression. the body block test is carried out to validate tie simulation model, and real component tests are performed to extract the force-deflection curves . After the model is validated , the parameter study is carried out to evaluate the crash performance of the energy absorbing components. A performance measure is defined for the parameter study. Using the results of the parameter study and managing the orthogonal arrays, optimum design values of energy absorbing components are determined to minize the occupant injury.

The history of excavator design is not long enough which still causes most of the design considerations to be focused on static analysis or simple functional improvement based on static analysis. However, the real forces experiencing on each component of excavator are highly transient and impulsive. Therefore, the prediction and the evaluation of the movement of the excavator by dynamic load in the early design stage through the dynamic transient analysis of the excavator and ensuring of design technique plays an importance role to reduce development-cost, shorten product-deliver, decrease vehicle-weight and optimize the system design. In this paper, Commercial software DADS and ANSYS help to develop the track model of the crawler type excavator, and to evaluate the performance and the dynamic characteristics of excavator with various simulations. For that reason, the track of crawler type excavator is modelled with DADS Track Vehicle Superelement, and the reaction forces on the track rollers were predicted through the driving simulation. Also, the upper frame and cabin vibration characteristics, at the low RPM idle state, were evaluated with engine rigid body modelling. And flexibility body effects were considered to determine the more accurate joint reaction forces and accelerations under the upper frame swing motion.

Once the medical knowledge-based system has been developed, it is essential to investigate the knowledge sources of the system because knowledge sources can affect the performance of the system in great deal. This paper presents the method and the results of the reliability test done on the medical knowledge-based system CLINAID. A knowledge source tested is Cardiovascular body system data used in CLINAID. The reliability test will be done by investigating structural relationships revealed by fuzzy relational method between the components of the knowledge sources of individual body systems using syndromes as its main component. These partitions are going to be compared with the syndromes elicited from the medical experts. This paper also reports the outcome of the computations using 7 implication operators performed on Cardiovascular body system data.
The Skinned Multi-Person Linear Model (SMPL) is the most widely used parametric 3D Human Model optimized and learned from CAESAR, a 3D human scanned database created with measurements from 3,800 people living in United States in the 1990s. We point out the lack of racial diversity of body types in SMPL and propose K-SMPL that better represents Korean 3D body shapes. To this end, we develop a fitting algorithm to estimate 2,773 Korean 3D body shapes from Korean body measurement data. By conducting principle component analysis to the estimated Korean body shapes, we construct K-SMPL model that can generate various Korean body shape in 3D. K-SMPL model allows to improve the fitting accuracy over SMPL with respect to the Korean body measurement data. K-SMPL model can be widely used for avatar generation and human shape fitting for Korean.
The first twenty-five years of scientific study within Korea on Korean traditional ceramics has been characterized as a bridging effort to understand the rich field of artistic ceramic masterpieces on one hand with analytic results gained from mounds of broken shards and kiln wastes on the other. First shard pieces were collected directly from the waste mounds, but most of the analyzed shards were provided by art historians and museum staffs directly involved in systematic excavations. The scientific study is viewed as one of many complimentary ways in learning about the multi-faceted ceramics culture, ultimately connecting human spirits and endeavors from the past to the present to the future. About 1350 pieces of analyzed shards have been so far collected and organized according to the production location and time period. From the experimental results of the analysis, the compositional and microstructural characteristics of bodies and glazes have been deduced for many kiln sites of Goryeo and Joseon dynasties. Except for a few local kilns, porcelain stone was used as body material in both dynasties. The principle of mixing a clay component with a flux material was used in Korean glazes as was in China. The clay component different from body clay was often used early on. In Gangjin a porcelain material appropriate for whiteware body was mixed for celadon glaze, and in Joseon Gwangju kilns glaze stone was chief clay material. The use of wood ash persisted in Korea even in making buncheong glazes, but in Joseon whitewares burnt lime and eventually crushed lime were used as flux material.

This paper describes the fault diagnosis method to order to construct CIM in complex system with hierarchical structure similar to human body structure. Complex system is divided into unit, item and component. For diagnosing this hierarchical complex system, it is necessary to implement a special neural network. Fault diagnosis system can forecast faults in a system and decide from the signal information of current machine state. Comparing with other diagnosis system for a single fault, the developed system deals with multiple fault diagnosis, comprising hierarchical neural network (HNN). HNN consists of four level neural network, i.e. first is fault symptom classification and second fault diagnosis for item, third is symptom classification and forth fault diagnosis for component. UNIX IPC is used for implementing HNN with multitasking and message transfer between processes in SUN workstation with X-Windows (Motif). We tested HNN at four units, seven items per unit, seven components per item in a complex system. Each one neural network represents a separate process in UNIX operating system, information exchanging and cooperating between each neural network was done by message queue.
In studying the dynamical evolution of galaxy clusters, one intriguing approach is to compare the spatial distributions of various components, such as the dark matter, the member galaxies, the gas, and the intracluster light (ICL; the diffuse light from stars, which are not bound any individual cluster galaxy). If we find a visible component whose spatial distribution coincides with the dark matter distribution, then we could draw a dark matter map without requiring laborious weak lensing analysis. Furthermore, if the component traces the dark matter distribution better for more relaxed galaxy cluster, we could use the similarity as a dynamical stage estimator of the galaxy cluster. We present a novel new methodology to quantify the similarity of two or more 2-dimensional spatial distributions. We apply the method to a sample of galaxy clusters at different dynamical stages simulated within N-cluster Run, which is an N-body simulation using the galaxy replacement technique. Among the various components (stellar particles, galaxies, ICL), the velocity defined ICL+ brightest cluster galaxy (BCG) component traces the dark matter best. Between the sample galaxy clusters, the relaxed clusters show stronger similarity of the spatial distribution between the dark matter and ICL+BCG than the dynamically young clusters.

Results of an experiment on the behavior of rats and mice in order to explore the possible pharmacological actions of Panax ginseng upon the central nervous system can be summarized as follows: 1. Spontaneous motor activity. In the case of mice, those groups who were administered 2.5 mg and 5.0mg of ginseng saponin per kilogram of body weight were observed to have increased their activity compared with the control group, while the 50.0 mg and 100.0 mg per kilogram body weight groups demonstrated lower levels of activity, with the peak of activity appearing at 30 minutes after administration of drugs. In the case of rats, those groups of animals who were given injections in the dosage of 2.5 mg, 5.0 mg and 50.0 mg per kilogram body weight demonstrated higher activity than the control group, while the 100.0 mg per kilogram group appeared to have decreased in their activity, with the peak action appearing 30 minutes after the administration of ginseng saponin. The 50.0 mg per kilogram group demonstrated no significant differential. 2. General behavior analysis. In the case of mice, decrease in sleeping component of behavior and increase in the walking and roaring components, compared those with the control group, turned out to be a common phenomenon among the groups who were administered 2.5 mg, 5.0 mg and 50.0 mg of ginseng saponin per kilogram body weight, with the 5.0 mg per kilogram group standing out of all the other groups in terms of their reactions. In the case of rats, ginseng saponin appeared to reduce sleeping component with 2.5 mg, 5.0 mg and 50.0 mg per kilogram body weight groups, while increased the walking and rearing components. It was observed that administratoin of ginseng saponin in a dose of 2.5 mg per kilogram appeared to markedly increase the lying and grooming components of animal behavior. 3. Open-field exploratory behavior. Adminstration of ginseng saponin to mice in doses of 5.0 mg, 50.0 mg and 100.0 mg per kilogram body weight decreased activity, but increased their exploratory behavior. In the case of rats, however, administration of ginseng saponin in the doses of 2.5 mg and 5.0 mg per kilogram body weight markedly increased their activities, while decreased activities with the 50.0 mg per kilogram and 100.0 mg per kilogram groups. The exploratory behavior of rats appeared to have decreased, while grooming increased ramarkably. 4. The above findings from a series of experiment appear to suggest a stimulating effect on the central nervous system when ginseng saponin is administered in small doses, but that larger doses might result in an inhibitory effect, though differential results can be anticipated with modification of experimental conditions.
The purpose of this study is to analyze and classify breast shape of women aged 11~15 using 3D body scan data. In this study, 250 women's body scans were selected from the 6th Size Korea dataset, and 30 items from each of the scan were measured using RapidForm XOR 3 program. The principal component analysis and cluster analysis were conducted using statistical program SPSS 17.0. The five principal components were identified; breast drooping and breast capacity, size from chest to under bust area, breast protrusion, breast height, and under breast angle & outer distance of breast. As the results of cluster analysis, woman's breast types were classified into four types. The breast type 1 was protrusion type (25.1%) which is considered as the breast maturity stage. The breast type 2 had the most drooped breast covering a large area (20.2%). The breast type 3 had the least prominent breast with a highest nipple point, which was considered as the early breast development stage (38.9%). The breast type 4 had the obesity of the chest and breast circumferences with the slightly prominent and the least drooped breast (15.8%). This study can provide fundamental information to develop sizing system and brassiere pattern for junior girls.
Human frequently communicate non-linguistic information with gesture. So, we must develop efficient and fast gesture recognition algorithms for more natural human-computer interaction. However, it is difficult to recognize gesture automatically because human's body is three dimensional object with very complex structure. In this paper, we suggest a method which is able to detect key frames and frame changes, and to classify image sequence into some gesture groups. Gesture is classifiable according to moving part of body. First, we detect some frames that motion areas are changed abruptly and save those frames as key frames, and then use the frames to classify sequences. We symbolize each image of classified sequence using Principal Component Analysis(PCA) and clustering algorithm since it is better to use fewer components for representation of gestures. Symbols are used as the input symbols for the Hidden Markov Model(HMM) and recognized as a gesture with probability calculation.
