Synthesis and Electroluminescence Properties of Novel Deep Blue Emitting 6,12-Dihydro-diindeno[1,2-b;1',2'-e]pyrazine Derivatives

  • We report the synthesis of blue emitting materials with a new core structure containing indenopyrazine. Non-doped device using one of these materials as a blue emitter was found to exhibit high external quantumn efficiency of 4.6% and excellent color purity of (0.154, 0.078) as well as narrow emission band of 47nm FWHM.

Co-deposition and Tuned Blue Emission Color from New Tetraphenylethylene Derivatives

  • By combining tetraphenylethylene and anthracene, we synthesized 9,10-bis(4-(1,2,2-triphenylvinyl)phenyl) anthracene [BTPPA] and 1,2-di(4'-tert-butylphenyl)-1,2-bis(4'-(anthracene-9-yl)phenyl)ethene [BPBAPE]; both BTPPA and BPBAPE have similar band-gaps, however their PL spectra were shifted by about 30 nm with respect to each other. The fabricated multilayered non-doped OLED devices based on pure BTPPA or BPBAPE exhibited luminance efficiencies of 3.93 cd/A at 6.8 V and 10.33 cd/A at 8.1 V, respectively, at $10\;mA/cm^2$. As the BPBAPE content of the emitting layer increased, the luminance efficiency of the device increased; in addition, the CIE coordinates of the fabricated devices shifted gradually from deep-blue for pure BTPPA to sky-blue for pure BPBAPE.

The classification of ballpoint pen inks in Questioned Documents by using VSC and SERRS

  • The aim of this study was to investigate the evidential value of blue and black ballpoint pens on paper by nondestructive techniques. In this work, 21 blue and 22 black ballpoint pens which were purchased on different brands were analyzed by Raman Spectroscopy and Video Spectral Comparator (VSC). Surface-Enhanced Resonance Raman Spectroscopy (SERRS) with excitation at 685 nm and VSC with several spot light filters were used for the discrimination of ballpoint pen inks. In the SERR spectra, the ballpoint pen inks on paper could be shown sharp spectral bands and distinguished by their band shapes and relative intensities. In the blue and black ballpoint pen inks, the discriminating powers (DP) by SERRS were 0.85 and 0.67 and the DP by VSC were 0.88 and 0.90, respectively. The DP by combined sequence of techniques was all 0.97 in both black and blue ballpoint pen inks.

  • $BaMg_2Al_16O_27:Eu,\SrGa_2S_4:Eu$, and ZnCdS:Ag,Cl phosphors were chosen to produce blue, green, and red emissions, respectively, under excitation from a violet light emitting diode (LED). A four-band white LED was obtained by a combination of nonabsorbed violet emission from a violet LED and blue, green, and red emissions from $BaMg_2Al_16O_27:Eu,\SrGa_2S_4:Eu$, and ZnCdS:Ag,Cl phosphors. The luminescent properties of the four-band white LED were also discussed.

The critical Mg doping on the blue light emission in p-type GaN thin films grown by metal-organic chemical vapor deposition

  • The photoluminescence and the photo-current from p-type GaN films were investigated on both room- and low-temperatures for various Mg doping concentrations. At a low Mg doping level, there exists a photoluminescence center of the donor and the acceptor pair transition of the 3.28-eV band. This center is correlated with the defects for a shallow donor of the VGa and for an acceptor of MgGa. The acceptor level shows the binding energy of 0.2-0.25 eV, which was observed by the photon energy of the photo-current signal of 3.02-3.31 eV. At a high Mg doping level, there is a photoluminescence center of a deep donor and an acceptor pair transition of the 2.76-eV blue band. This center is attributed to the defect structures of MgGa-VN for the deep donor and MgGa for the acceptor. For low. doped samples, thermal annealing provides an additional photo-current signal for an unoccupied deep acceptor levels of 0.87-1.35 eV above valence band, indicating the p-type activation.

  • In this paper, a broadband 4-way power divider which can be used from 20 MHz to 500 MHz in the V/UHF band is designed using transmission-line transformer and ferrite toroid. A 4:1 impedance transformer is realized and this 4:1 transformer is connected with bridge-type 2-way dividers to form a 4-way rower divider, Insertion loss of about 6.8dB, isolation of less than -20dB, and return loss of less than -15dB in most band of interest are measured.

  • We prepared ambipolar organic field-effect transistors and observed blue emission when both hole and electron accumulation layers were in the channel. We found that the reduction of carrier traps and controlling devices' preparation and measurement conditions were crucial for ambipolar operation.

Genetic Variations within and between Blue Crab (Portunus trituberculatus) Groups

  • The five oligonucleotide primers (oligo-primers) turned out a total of 335 fragments (FMs) (52.9%) in the blue crab (Portunus trituberculatus) group alpha and 298 FMs (47.1%) in the crab group beta, with the FM scales range varying from 100 bp to 2,000 bp. The highest band-sharing (BS) value (0.907) was found between individual's no. 19 and no. 20 within the blue crab group beta. Parties in the blue crab group beta (0.601±0.017) had higher BS rates than did parties from the crab group alpha (0.563±0.017) (p<0.05). The polar dendrogram got by the five oligo-primers points out two genetic extents: bundle I (BLUECRAB 01, 03, 04, 05, 06, 08, and 10) and bundle II (BLUECRAB 02, 07, 09. 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, and 22). The OPD-01 primer revealed 22 loci shared by all the examples of the as FMs of 1,000 bp. The oligo-primer OPA-05 made unique loci shared to each group (ULSEG), almost 400 bp and 500 bp, individually, in blue crab group beta. The remaining oligo-primers did not reveal any loci shared by the two crab groups (LSTG). The average number of ULSEG was diverse and 1.6-fold higher in the crab group beta than in the crab group alpha.
