Brake action is important in train operation. In case of diesel motor cas, coachs and wagon, the brake system is only act on the stop of train, but it is emphasis on safety and convenience in urban transit system such as EMU, subwar, AGT, etc. Brake of EMU has two types. one is called service brake that is used at normal operation. The other is called emergency brake. it is used at emergency operation. Service brake bring a EMU to a halt through a blending brake that form electronic brake and frictional brake. Generally EMU compose motor car and trailer car. Blending brake bring a EMU to a halt through a blending brake that form electronic brake of motor car and frictional brake of trailer car. Blending braking technology have different characteristics each nations or manufacturing companies. but deceleration command that is parameter decide blending brake. According to deceleration command, electronic brake and frictional brake are applied differently So braking power is different. electronic brake and frictional brake must be used appropriately as deceleration command. Also braking facilities must be stopped EMU more economically and safely through revision of algorism about blending brake according to output diagram. Thus The purpose of paper is to propose blending braking control way as consideration of braking output diagram used deceleration command that influence blending brake of EMU.
An electric multiple unit(EMU) consists of car body, bogie and brake equipment which is directly related to safety and performance of the motorcar. The blending brake mixed an electric brake and a friction brake is to reduce the energy by applying the restoration energy caused when the motorcar is stopped to car lines and to curtail the maintenance cost by saving the friction brake use. We have developed the advanced EMU since 2004, based on the experiences on the standard EMU in 1999, and we develop the installation which minimizes the use rate of the friction air brake by maximizing the electric brake use in the existing blending brake. We could accomplish the goal by improving the motorcar's Performance and solving the restoration energy's deficit by the friction brake. Actually, when it comes to the test results of standard EMU, except the service brake, in most conditions, we use electric brake to meet the requirements of the necessary brake power, exclusive when the motorcar leaves and stops. Therefore, in this paper, we consider the design concept of motorcar's blending brakes and suggest the way to develop the blending brake using the electric brake maximumly, which is caused by adequately controling the electric brake and the restoration brake.
The blending brake is mixed brake system which is operated by electrical and mechanical brake simultaneously. Most of urban transit system is used with blending brake unit. In order to train is align at the stopping position. The blending brake shall be presicely operated to the train. Many parameters are influence on the train when train is stopped on presicion position by blending brake. It is considered such parameters as decceleration, variable load, jerk, friction cofficient, etc. Therefore, This paper consider the parameter and describes the blending control for standard EMU. The control algorithm of it is proposed and simulation of it carried out by using MATLAB. Also Electronic control unit is manufactured with micro procesor which is configured fot blending control and is verified by performance test.
There are many new technologies for EMU to secure the facilities' safety/validity and maintenance/economical efficiency and technologic competitiveness. For example, now the EMU is using the blending brake technology with electric brake and pneumatic brake and carrying the various performances such as jerk limitation, variable load and blending brake to stop the motor car safely and efficiently. The blending brake takes important parts in braking the cars and It is used in many fields of urban transit. There were many limitations to carry the performances and certificate whether the performances are acceptable in the system or not, because at that time they didn't take the whole prelieminarly inspection. Now we start applying such new methods, taking the whole inspection prior to the installation by analyzing systems requirements and introducing various system engineering design tools. In this paper, we suggest how to reduce the errors by prelieminarly inspection for the brake facilities using the tools and inspect the needs to analyze the brake facilities' performances.

The bogie of monorail vehicles applies rubber wheel system not steel wheel system. In addition, The structure of the bogie is very complicated because vehicle operates on the elevated road and vehicle drives with wrapping the guide way. When the monorail vehicle applies air brake system, lower device of vehicle may be complex and some devices may be limited. On the other hand, hydraulic brake equipment is compact and not weighing. Braking force is also outstanding compared with air brake so the hydraulic brake equipment is suitable for monorail vehicle. Also urban transit system such as monorail, applies mixed system both friction brake and electric brake in order to save electric energy. But application case of hydraulic brake in the country is very rare because hydraulic brake have difficulty in satisfaction of control requirement and maintenance. Therefore, this study suggests ways to design hydraulic brake system with blending brake for monorail vehicle and applies the ways to future monorail.

The brake system of a high speed train has a crucial role for the safety of the train. To develop a safe brake system of the high speed train, it is necessary to understand the braking principle and phenomena of the total brake system and its subsystems. In this paper, we have suggested a mathematical model which includes car dynamics, interactions between cars, adhesive forces, brake blending algorithm, and the dynamics of each brake devices. Also, we have proposed a ready-time compensation algorithm of eddy-current brake system and a brake control logic on electric-pneumatic blending. A simulation study has shown the proposed models and algorithms are effective on the braking of the train.

The effect of ethanol-blending on the performances of the MPI gasoline engine was examined. The experiments were carried out for the stoichiometric conditions under MBT spark timing over various operating conditions. The blending rate of ethanol were determined as 10 to 30 percent according to the analysis of the properties of blended fuels. The engine with ethanol-blended fuels showed improved performances such as brake torque, brake power, brake thermal efficiency and exhaust emissions compared with those of pure gasoline over most operating conditions. Though the brake specific fuel consumption was increased by ethanol-blending due to their lower heating values, the increasing rates of the brake specific fuel consumption were limited to the half of the blending rates owing to the increase in the thermal efficiency.

Lean combustion and exhaust emission characteristics in a ethanol fueled spark-ignited engine according to ethanol-gasoline fuel blending ratio were investigated. The test engine was $1591cm^3$ and 10.5 of compression ratio SI engine with 4 cylinders. In addition, lambda sensor system was connected with universal ECU to control the lambda value which is varied from 1.0 to 1.5. The engine performance and lean combustion characteristics such as brake torque, cylinder pressure and rate of heat release were investigated according to ethanol-gasoline fuel blending ratio. Furthermore, the exhaust emissions such as carbon monoxide (CO), unburned hydrocarbon (HC), nitrogen oxides ($NO_x$) and carbon dioxide ($CO_2$) were measured by emission analyzers. The results showed that the brake torque, cylinder pressure and the stability of engine operation were increased as ethanol blending ratio is increased. Brake specific fuel consumption (BSFC) was increased in higher ethanol blending ratio while brake specific energy consumption (BSEC) was decreased in higher ethanol blending ratio. The exhaust emissions were decreased as ethanol blending ratio is increased under overall experimental conditions, however, some specific exhaust emission characteristics were mainly influenced by lambda value and ethanol-gasoline fuel blending ratio.

While trains perform a complete precision stopping control at stop point, it is essential to keep better commuters comfort in prompt. Because a train's brake force tends to increase a brake effort in a low speed and a low brake effort, a brake force in motor cars must be increased to keep better passenger comfort, to control the special braking qua1ities and to prevent the impact of the automatic coupler rather than trailer's, Rail cars must have a special braking process for the train stopping control. In the train stop mode, the train stopping control is designed to start at 20km/h. It starts by Dynamic brake blending, and then finally stops by only the friction. If these process are not exactly activated, the train may fail a complete precision stop. In this report, it studied the electric and friction brake processing during the precious stopping control. To achieve exact test results, the speed reference has to be reduced the calculated difference. In the precision stopping control. the ways of the keeping brake force in motor car was analyzed and some solutions of controling air pressure was brought up by means of direct test in main line, This study was based on line 5 in Seoul Metropolitan subway.
