Analysis of Total Phenol, Flavonoid content and Antioxidant Activity of Various Extraction Solvents Extracts from Onion (Allium cepa L.) Peels

  • Total phenol contents, total flavonoid contents and antioxidant activity of 70% methanol, 70% ethanol and chloroform-methanol (CM, 2:1, v/v) extracts from onion (Allium cepa L.) peels were studied. The $IC_{50}$ values of DPPH (2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl) radical and ABTS [2,2'-azino-bis(3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid) diammonium salt] radical scavenging activity in 70% ethanol extract were remained to be lowest followed by 70% methanol extract and CM extract. And the total phenol content ($113.56{\pm}0.86mg\;CAE/g$), total flavonoid content (49.63 mg QE/g) and ferric reducing antioxidant power value were also found to be the highest. In contrast, 70% methanol extract possessed the strongest antioxidant activity by ${\beta}$-carotene bleaching assay. CM extract displayed the lowest antioxidant activity compared with other extracts. Onion peels exhibited strong antioxidant activity and abundant phytochemicals, which could be used in a various food products to add phytochemicals and promote good health.

  • 이 작업은 수송체로서 N,N'-bis(2-hydroxybenzyl)-1,3-diaminopropane (L1)과 N,N'-bis(2-hydroxybenzyl)-2,2-dimethyl-1,3-diaminopropane (L2)에 기초한 $Ag^+$ 이온-선택 전극의 제조, 개발 그리고 전압반응에 대해 토의한다. $Ag^+$에 대하여 L1에 기초한 전극은 58.7 mV/dec에 도달하는 안정한 Nernst에 가까운 기울기와 $1.0{\times}10^{-6}M$의 검출한계를 갖는 등급의 최소 다섯가지 순서의 선형범위에서 최적의 전압 반응 특징을 보이는 것을 나타낸다. 제안된 전극은 다른 테스트한 양이온과 비교하여 $Ag^+$에 우위의 선택성을 보였다. 훌륭한 전압 분석적 특징은 중요한 진짜 샘플에서 은의 순도분석의 성공적인 응용을 이끌 것이다. 그리고 그것은 제안된 $Ag^+$-ISE가 측정 능력의 중요한 진보를 보여준다는 것을 나타내고 있다. 그러나 L2에 기초한 전극에 대해서는, 약한 전압 반응 특징들이 전체 실험 과정에서 관측되었다.

치과용 복합레진에 대한 첨가제의 영향 (Effects of Additives on Dental Composite Resins)

  • 2.2-Bis[P-(2-hydroxy-3-methacryloyloxypropoxyl)phenol]propane (Bis-GMA)는 광중합형 치과용 고분자 복합레진의 다관능성 유기물로 널리 사용되고 있다. Bis-GMA는 두 개의 히드록시기를 가지고 있어서 구강내에서 광중합되는 복합레진의 물흡수를 야기시켜 장기간 점진적으로 심미성이 감소하고 결국엔 복합레진의 기계적 특성까지 저하시키게 된다. 본 연구에서는 최종제품의 내구성과 저장안정성을 향상시키기 위하여 복합레진에 광안정제와 산화방지제를 첨가제로 사용하였다. 먼저 Tinuvin P의 광안정제를 첨가하면 색변화가 큰 것을 볼 수 있었으나 Irganox 245의 산화방지제를 첨가하였을 때 색안정성이 향상됨을 알 수 있었다. 또한 Tinuvin P와 Irganox 245가 동시에 첨가되었을 때 색안 정성이 향상되며 시료의 가속화 실험 전과 가속화 후 간접인장강도와 같은 기계적 성질도 크게 감소되지 않았다. 따라서 치과용 복합레진의 제조에 있어서 첨가제인 Tinuvin P와 Irganox 245가 각각 0.5% 및 0.1% 첨가되었을 때 내구성 및 색안정성이 향상되었으며 나아가 저장 안정성도 향상됨을 확인할 수 있었다.

고추 Oleoresin의 가열조리중 휘발성 성분 및 Capsaicin의 변화 (Changes in Volatile Components and Capsaicin of Oleoresin Red Pepper during Cooking)

  • 건조 고추를 100mesh의 입자이하로 분쇄하여 먼저 감압증류시켜 정유성분을 추출하고, 다시 3배량의 ethyl alcohol을 가하여 $25^{\circ}C$에서 3시간 동안 진탕 추출후 여과, 농축시켜 정유성분을 합하였다. 여기에 같은양의 물과 유화제를 첨가하여 유화시킨 고추 oleoresin을 고온에서 가열조리 중 일어나는 휘발성성분 및 capsaicin의 변화를 검토하였다. 고추 및 고추 oleoresin-의 휘발성 성분은 119성분이 분리되어 그중 35성분이 동정되었다. 2-methoxy-phenol, 2,6-bis(1,1-dimethylethyl)-4-methyl-phenol, 1,4-dimethylbenzene, 1,2-benzenedicarboxylic acid, 2-methoxy-4-methylphenol, 4-ethyl-2-methoxy-pheonl 및 5-methyl-2-furancarboxaldehyde 등이 주요 향기 성분이었으며, 시료로부터 oleoresin으로의 이행율은 저분자에서의 휘발성성분의 경우는 매우 낮았다. 온도 100^{\circ}C$에서 3시간 가열조리 후 휘발성 성분은 93성분이 분리되었고 $150^{\circ}C$ 가열조리의 경우는 82성분만 분리되었다. 가열조리 중 휘발성 성분의 소실은 극심하였으며 가열온도가 높을수록 더욱 심하였다. 100^{\circ}C$에서 가열한 경우 상당량이 가열조리 중 소실되었으며 잔존율은 각각의 휘발성 성부넹 크게 달랐다. 특히 nonanoic acid, 2-(1,1-dimethylethyl)-phenol, pentadecane, 1,2-benzenedic-arboxylic acid 등은 70% 이상의 높은 잔존율을 보였고, 1-methyl-1H-pyrrole, 1-(2-furanyl)-ethanone, 2,4-dimethyl-pheonl, d-fenchyl alcohol 및 4-ethyl-2-methoxy-phenol 성분은 검출되지 않았다. 또한 $150^{\circ}C$에서 가열시킨 고추 oleoresin의 휘발성 성분은 $100^{\circ}C$ 보다도 상대적인 잔존율이 더욱 낮았다. Nonanoic acid와 1,2-benzenedicarboxylic acid만 70% 이상의 잔존율을 보였고, 30% 이하의 잔존율을 나타낸 성분으로서는 2-furancarboxaldehyde, 5-methyl-2-furancarboxdldehyde, 1,4-dimethylbenzene, 2,3-diethyl-2-cyclopenten-1-one, 1H-indole 및 9,12-octadecadienoic acid였다. 그리고 $100^{\circ}C$ 가열에서의 미검출성분과 흔적량을 보이던 2-methyl-2=cyclopenten 및 octanoic acid은 검출되지 않았다. 가열조리 중 capsaicin은 비교적 열에 안정하여 대기하의 $100^{\circ}C\;및\;150^{\circ}C$에서 5시간 가열조리 후 잔존율은 각각 84.7% 및 73.3%였고, 질소가스 통기하에서는 잔존율이 88.9% 및 81.8%로 더욱 안정하였다.

애기땅빈대의 열수 추출 및 에탄올 추출물의 항산화 활성 비교 (Comparison on the Antioxidative Activity of Ethanol and Hot Water Extracts of Euphorbia supina Rafinesque)

  • Objectives : In this study, the antioxidant activities of the 80% ethanol and hot water extracts of Euphorbia supina Rafinesque were investigated. Methods : We measured total phenol contents, flavonoid contents, 2,2-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) free radical scavenging assay, 2,2'-azino-bis (3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulphonic acid) (ABTS) radical scavenging assay. The production of reactive oxygen species was measured in LPS-induced RAW 264.7 cells using flow cytometry system. Results : The content of phenol in the hot water extract was $65.529{\pm}0.462mg/g$ and $126.932{\pm}1.894mg/g$ in the 80% ethanol extract, and that of flavonoid in the hot water extract was $16.063{\pm}0.471mg/g$ and $29.159{\pm}1.963mg/g$ in the ethanol extract. The 80% ethanol extract also showed higher DPPH and ABTS radical scavenging activities ($90.8{\pm}1.0%$ and $92.5{\pm}0.7%$) than the hot water extract ($81.5{\pm}0.5%$ and $91.5{\pm}0.2%$). The production of reactive oxygen species(ROS) was reduced dose-dependently by 80% ethanol and hot water extract at concentration of 1, 10 and $100{\mu}g/m{\ell}$ of RAW 264.7 cells. Conclusion : According to these results, the 80% ethanol extract of Euphorbia supina Rafinesque has a good anti-oxidative effects than the hot water extract. Thus, the 80% ethanol extract of Euphorbia supina Rafinesque may serve as useful natural antioxidants.

Antioxidant Activities of Various Extracts from Korean Yam (Dioscorea batatas DECNE.)

  • The objective of this study was to investigate the antioxidant activity of Korean yam (Dioscorea batatas $D_{ECNE.}$) by different extraction solvents including 70% methanol, 70% ethanol and chloroform-methanol mixture (CM, 2:1, v/v). Raw yam was analyzed for its color property, total phenol content and antioxidant activity. Yam possessed high $L^*$ value and $H^{\circ}$ value, which were $81.64{\pm}2.59$ and $83.36{\pm}0.15$, respectively. Raw yam was found to have great antioxidant activity evaluated through ABTS [2,2′-azino-bis(3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid) diammonium salt] radical scavenging activity, DPPH (2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl) radical scavenging activity, reducing power, and ferric reducing antioxidant power. Total phenol contents of various extracts from raw yam increased in the following order: 70% methanol extract ($37.62{\pm}0.88mg\;CAE/g$), 70% ethanol extract ($43.38{\pm}0.66mg\;CAE/g$) and CM extract ($67.17{\pm}0.12mg\;CAE/g$), respectively. The same trend was also could be found in the ABTS radical scavenging activity, DPPH radical scavenging activity and ferric reducing antioxidant power assays. These results implied that Korean yam might play an important role in antioxidation and serve as the bio-health functional food to take a good part in prevention of human diseases and aging.

Effects of Thermal Treatment on Antioxidant Activity in Yam (Dioscorea batatas DECNE.)

  • The aim of this study was to investigate the antioxidant activity of thermal treatment yam (Dioscorea batatas DECNE.) in Korea. Thermal treatment yam was extracted by different solvents including 70% methanol, 70% ethanol and chloroform-methanol mixture (CM, 2:1, v/v). Then color property, total phenol content and antioxidant activity were analyzed. Yam possessed high $L^*$ value and $H\limits^{\circ}$ value, which were $54.92{\pm}2.18$ and $73.20{\pm}0.77$, respectively. Thermal treatment yam exhibited great antioxidant activity evaluated by ABTS [2,2'-azino-bis(3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid) diammonium salt] radical scavenging activity, DPPH (2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl) radical scavenging activity, reducing power, and ferric reducing antioxidant power. Total phenol contents of various extracts from thermal treatment yam increased in the following order: 70% methanol extract ($63.53{\pm}0.33mg\;CAE/g$), 70% ethanol extract ($69.47{\pm}1.00mg\;CAE/g$) and CM extract ($97.49{\pm}0.66mg\;CAE/g$), respectively. The same trend was also could be found in antioxidant activity assays except for reducing power assay. These results implied that these extracts from thermal treatment yam might be useful to take a good part in prevention of human diseases and aging.

감성물질의 마이크로캡슐화에 의한 감성기능 섬유의 개발(IV) -감온변색 기능섬유-

  • The microcapsule for thermochromism is based on the polymerization reaction between epoxy resin and amine curing agent. The preparation process of microcapsule is based on dissolving or dispersing a hydrophobic core materials[one-dye-black(OBD), bis-phenol A(BPA), cetyl alcohol] in an aqueous solution of gelatin, epoxy resin and isophorondiamine(IPDA) ; the gelatin and IPDA used as a dispersion stabilizer and an hardening agent, respectively. The structures of epoxy resin and microcapsule materials have been analyzed by FT-IR and UV/Vis spectra. The mean diameter and size distribution of microcapsule are 1.46~1.75${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ and 1.42, respectively. The DSC thermograms of microcapsules indicated 2 kinds of endothermic peaks at 47 and 322$^{\circ}C$. This is possibly corresponding to the melting peak of core material and wall meterial. These microcapsules are applied to the fabric by printing. Complex finished fabric showed a good wear resistance on rubbing test and the print pattern to the cotton fabric showed a reversible thermochromism ; ${\mu}_{max}$ are 580 nm below 4$0^{\circ}C$ and 276.5nm above 4$0^{\circ}C$ in ethanol/water(2/8), respectively.

  • The techniques of pulse and cyclic voltammetry were applied to the determination of (E$_{1}$2)$_2$-(E$_{1}$2)$_1$ for two-step electrochemical charge transfers. In addition, a simple amplitude was derived far the dependence of the differential pulse response on (E$_{l}$ 2/)$_1$ and (E$_{1}$2/)$_2$. and the use of peak to peak separation in cyclic voltammetry and differential pulse methods was evaluated. A comparison of the comproportionation constants(Ke) from differential pulse and cyclic voltammetry methods exhibited a good agreement within 5%.

Photo-Induced Memory of an OLED in the presence of thio-Michler's ketone

  • Photo-induced memory effect of an organic light-emitting diode(OLED) composed of a hydrazone-derivative(DBAH) dispersed in bis-phenol-A type polycarbonate polymer(PCA) in the presence of thio-Michler's ketone, was investigated by the measuring of the current density and luminance at the various conditions. After the light exposure, the current of the OLED was decreased approximately one order, and the luminance of the OLED also decresed. This memory effct was erasable by heating the OLED to the temperature higher than the glass transition temperature(Tg). As shown in this result, we found the memory effect was erased by heating and returned to its original state in the hole injecting layer(HIL) of the OLED. A series of these phenomena was suggested the possibility of the application to the imaging plate.
