The purpose of this study was to estimate the potential injury via analyzing ground reaction force components that were resulted from a prolonged-run-induced fatigue. For the present study, passive and active components of the vertical ground reaction force were determined from time and frequency domain. Shear components of GRF also were calculated from time and frequency domain. Twenty subjects with rear foot contact aged 20 to 30, no experience in injuries of the extremities, were requested to run on the instrumented tread-mill for 160 minutes at their preference running speed. GRF signals for 10 strides were collected at 5, 35, 65, 95, 125, and 155 minute during running. In conclusions, there were no significant difference in the magnitude of passive force, impact load rate, frequency of the passive and active components in vertical GRF between running times except the magnitude of active force (p<.05). The magnitude of active force was significantly decreased after 125 minute run. The magnitude of maximum peak and maximum frequency of the mediolateral GRF at heel strike and toe-off have not been changed with increasing running time. The time up to the maximum peak of the anteroposterior at heel-strike moment tend to decrease (p<.05), but the maximum peak and frequency of that at heel and toe-off moment didn't depend significantly on running time.
To enhance our understanding of the loads on the foot during treadmill running, we have used a pressure-sensitive insole system to determine pressure, rate of loading and impulse distributions on the plantar surface during treadmill running, both in minimally cushioned footwear and in cushioned shoes. This report includes pressure, rate of loading, impulse and contact time data from a study of ten subjects running on a treadmill at 4.0m/s. Among heel-toe runners, the highest peak pressures and highest rates of loading were observed under the centre of the heel and in the medial forefoot. The arch regions were only lightly loaded. Contact time was greater in the forefoot than in the heel. Two-thirds of the impulse recorded during the step was the result of forces applied through the forefoot, mostly in the region of the metatarsal heads. The distribution of loads in the shoe suggests that the load distributing properties of the cushioning system are most important in the centre of the heel, under the metatarsal heads and great toe. Shock attenuation is primarily required under the centre of the heel and to lesser extent under the metatarsal heads. Some energy dissipation may be desirable in the heel region because it causes shock to be absorbed with less force. All the 'propulsive' effort is applied through the forefoot. Therefore, this region should as resilient as possible.

Objective: The purpose of this study is to provide biomechanical basis data for the analysis of the maximum vertical ground reaction force, the maximum plantar pressure, the average plantar pressure, and the contact area according to the type of the insole through the insole insertion type foot pressure gauge. Method: In the treadmill, the slope was set at 10%, the first type A was worn at a walking speed of 3.5 km / h, and then walking was carried out using B, C, and D types. Data from 20 boots with consistent walking were extracted and plantar pressure data were collected and analyzed. Results: Functional insole was more effective than conventional insole for maximum vertical ground reaction force, maximum plantar pressure, average plantar pressure, and contact area at 10% of treadmill ramps. Conclusion: In this study, D-type insole supports the cushion in the middle part and supports the heel cup with hardness in the hind part, so that it is the most effective insole by lowering the plantar pressure and dispersing it more widely.
The aim of the study was a quantitative analysis of elite athlete's $540^{\circ}$ Dwihuryeochagi and effects of ground movements to the jumping height and kicking velocity. Eleven elite players(Taekwondo demonstration team) participated in this study. In order to get the kinetic and kinematic variables, ten Vicon cameras and a force plate were used. Foot segment velocity(FSV), vertical ground reaction force(GRF), impulse, ground time(GT) in phase 1, trunk angular velocity(TAV), vertical center of gravity(COG), flight time(FT) in phase 2 and kicking leg segment velocity(KSV) in phase 3 were measured and analyzed. Results indicated that there were similar patterns of variables among phases between subjects. Non-significant correlation(r=.145) between flight time(FT) and impulse was found. Also non-significant correlation(r=.119) between center of gravity(COG) and impulse was found. In conclusions, there were similar strategies in phase 1, phase 2, and phase 3 between subjects.
Nakcyguri is one of the offensive weapons most often used in Taekkyon games, The purpose of this study was to investigate kinetic factors on two types of Nakcyguri, one of which uses hip bending and the other uses little it. 12 taekkyoners (males) who are the students of Y University participated in this study. They have been practicing on Taekkyon for five years or more. Positions of CoM, the elapsed time of each phase, ROM of joint and segment angles, ground reaction forces, joint moments of supporting leg were analyzed for this study. The results were as follows; in Nakcyguri with hip bending than without hip bending, anterior/posterior ROM of pelvis, head and swing foot were larger by flexing-extending more, and both vertical and posterior components of GRF were larger during phase 4. It was considered that hip bending produced posterior momentum as well as vertical momentum of trunk during Nakcyguri. In conclusion hip bending was essential and so useful to the successful attack.
The purpose of this study was (a) to develop carbon nanotube-based shock absorbers for reducing potentially harmful impact forces and excessive foot pronation, and (b) to briefly determine how the effects of carbon nanotube-based shock absorbers on biomechanical variance during drop landing. A university student(age: 24.0 yrs, height: 176.2 cm, weight: 679.5 N) who has no musculoskeletal disorder was recruited as the subject. Hardness, specific gravity, tensile strength, elongation, 100% modulus, tear strength, split tear strength, compression set, resilience, vertical GRF, and loading rate were determined for each material. For each dependent variable, a descriptive statistics was used for different conditions. The property test results showed that tensile strength, tear strength, split tear strength, compression set, and resilience in carbon nanotube-based shock absorbers were greater than general Ethylene Vinyl Acetate(EVA). These indicated that resistance against variable strength in developed carbon nanotube-based shock absorbers were greater than general EVA. In vertical GRF of CNTC was less than those of EVA during drop landing and loading rate of CNTC was greater than EVA. It seems that the use of CNT can be a effective way of reducing and controlling shock from impact.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the pattern change of throwing in baseball after 15 weeks of participation in baseball class, by examining ball speed, trunk and upper body angles. The comparison was with 6 university students that haven't had any experience in baseball. 8 infra red cameras and 2 force platforms were used to collect the data. First, there was an increase in the speed of the ball after the class. Second, there was no significant difference in the allocated phases during the throw before and after class. Third, the release point was lower and more in front. Forth, there was an increase in the knee flexion at the left foot landing and release point. Finally, there was an increase in the maximum shoulder external rotation and pelvis angle. It is recommended that the coordination between the segments should be investigated to improve our understanding of the learning of throwing in future research.
This study was investigated the stability of the AK amputee gait through analysing the variability on kinematic variables between the sound leg and the prosthetic limb. The one male, AK amputee who could walk for himself with his prosthetic limb was participated in this study. Six cameras of the MCU 240 and the QTM(Qualisys Track Manager) software were used for data collecting in this study. The relative angle of both segments was the difference between the absolute angle of the distal segment and the absolute angle of the proximal segment. The coupling angles between the prosthetic limb and the sound leg were caculated on the thigh Flexion/Extension in relative to the shank Flexion/Extension and the shank Flexion/Extension n relative to the foot Flexion/Extension. In order to evaluate the variability of segment and joint angle, C.V. was used, and to evaluate the variability for coupling angles, the Relative motion calculated by vector coding method of the continuous methods was used. As stated, the gait pattern of the prosthetic limb was almost similar gait pattern of the sound leg, but the prosthetic limb showed that the gait pattern of the sound leg and the prosthetic limb were not stable against the sound leg.
Two subjects, an expert and a novice, were carefully selected based upon their foot speed. Three dimensional videography was used in the assessment of roundhouse kicking of the Tae-kwon-Do. The local reference frames were imbedded at the trunk, pelvis, thigh and shank. Anatomical angular displacement at the joints were measured by projecting the upper segment's local axes to the lower segment's local reference planes. The local axes again projected to the global reference frames and absolved each segment's movement. The peaks of the anatomical angular displacement curve assessed as the countermovements and the angular movements of the segments in the global space absolved in light of the occurrence of the countermovements. The expert showed larger and more countermovements than the novice at the all segments. The counterrnovement occured more clearly at the trunk than the hip and knee joint and during the preparative movement phase. These countermovements occurrence were due to either by turning upper or lower segments and controlled by the turning direction and sequence of the two nearby segments. It was revealed that the countermovements of the trunk during the preparative movement phase was the important factor of the power kicking.
The purpose of this study was to determine the kinematic characteristics of the ankle joint and RPM(repetition per minutes) during the supra maximal training in cycling. For this study, 8 national representative cyclists, distance cyclists in track and road, were selected. During the super-maximum pedalling, kinematic data were collected using a six-camera(240Hz) Qualisys system. the room coordinate system was right-handed and fixed in the back of a roller for cycle, with right-handed orthogonal segment coordinate systems defined for the leg and foot. Lateral kinematic data were recorded at least for 3 minutes while the participants pedal on a roller. Two-dimensional Cartesian coordinates for each marker were determined at the time of recording using a nonlinear transformation technique. Coordinate data were low-pass filtered using a fourth-order Butterworth recursive filter with cutoff frequency of 15Hz. Variables analyzed in this study were compared using a one factor(time) ANOVA with repeated measures. The results of investigation suggest that the number of rotating pedal was decreased with time phase during the super-maximum pedaling. Maximum angle of the ankle joint showed little in change with time phase compared with minimum angle of that.
