An Efficient Test Method for a Full-Custom Design of a High-Speed Binary Multiplier (풀커스텀 (full-custom) 고속 곱셈기 회로의 효율적인 테스트 방안)

  • In this paper, we implemented a $17{\times}17b$ binary digital multiplier using radix-4 Booth;s algorithmand proposed an efficient testing methodology for the full-custom design. A two-stage pipeline architecture was applied to achieve higher throughput and 4:2 adders were used for regular layout structure in the Wallace tree partition. Several chips were fabricated using LG Semicon 0.6-um 3-Metal N-well CMOS technology. We did fault simulations efficiently using the proposed test method resulting in the reduction of the number of faulty nodes by 88%. The chip contains 9115 transistors and the core area occupies $1135^*1545$ mm2. The functional tests using ATS-2 tester showed that it can operate with 24 MHz clock at 5.0 V at room temperature.

  • A SVM is a kind of binary classifier in order to find optimal hyperplane which separates training data into two groups. Due to its remarkable performance, the SVM is applied in various fields such as inductive inference, binary classification or making predictions. Also it is a representative black box model; there are plenty of actively discussed researches about analyzing trained SVM classifier. This paper conducts a study on a method that is automatically detecting the line-shaped echoes, sun strobe echo and radial interference echo, using the SVM algorithm because the line-shaped echoes appear relatively often and disturb weather forecasting process. Using a spatial clustering method and corrected reflectivity data in the weather radar, the training data is made up with mean reflectivity, size, appearance, centroid altitude and so forth. With actual occurrence cases of the line-shaped echoes, the trained SVM classifier is verified, and analyzed its characteristics using the decision tree method.

  • In this paper, we propose a new fast block matching algorithm for block matching using the temporal and spatially correlation of the video sequence and local statistics of neighboring motion vectors. Since the temporal correlation of the video sequence between the motion vector of current block and the motion vector of previous block. The proposed algorithm determines the location of a better starting point for the search of an exact motion vector using the point of the smallest SAD(sum of absolute difference) value by the predicted motion vectors of neighboring blocks around the same block of the previous frame and the current frame and the predictor candidate point on each division region by binary-tree structure. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm has the capability to dramatically reduce the search points and computing cost for motion estimation, comparing to fast FS(full search) motion estimation and other fast motion estimation.

A Convex Layer Tree for the Ray-Shooting Problem (광선 슈팅 문제를 위한 볼록 레이어 트리)

  • The ray-shooting problem is to find the first intersection point on the surface of given geometric objects where a ray moving along a straight line hits. Since rays are usually given in the form of queries, this problem is typically solved as follows. First, a data structure for a collection of objects is constructed as preprocessing. Then, the answer for each query ray is quickly computed using the data structure. In this paper, we consider the ray-shooting problem about the set of vertical line segments on the x-axis. We present a new data structure called a convex layer tree for n vertical line segments given by input. This is a tree structure consisting of layers of convex hulls of vertical line segments. It can be constructed in O(n log n) time and O(n) space and is easy to implement. We also present an algorithm to solve each query in O(log n) time using this data structure.

BTC employing a Quad Tree Technique for Image Data Compression (QUAD TREE를 이용한 BTC에서의 영상데이타 압축)

  • A conventional BTC has the merit of real time processing and simple computation, but has the problem that its compression rate is low. In this paper, a modified BTC using the Quad Tree which is frequently used in binary image is proposed. The method results in the low compression rate by decreasing the total number of subblocks by mean of making the size of a subblock large in the small variation area of graty level and the size af a subblock small in the large variation area of gary level. For the effective transmission of bit plane, the Huffman run-lengh code for the large size of a subblock and the lookup table for tha small size of a subblock are used. The proposed BTC method show the result of coding 256 level image at the average data rate of about 0.8 bit/pixel.

  • Packet arrival rates in internet routers have been dramatically increased due to the advance of link technologies, and hence wire-speed packet processing in Internet routers becomes more challenging. As IP address lookup is one of the most essential functions for packet processing, algorithm and architectures for efficient IP address lookup have been widely studied. In this paper, we Propose an efficient I address lookup architecture which shows yeW good Performance in search speed while requires a single small-size memory The proposed architecture is based on multi-way tree structure which performs comparisons of multiple prefixes by one memory access. Performance evaluation results show that the proposed architecture requires a 280kByte SRAM to store about 40000 prefix samples and an address lookup is achieved by 5.9 memory accesses in average.

  • The directory-based cache coherence scheme is an attractive approach to solve the caceh coherence problem in a large-scale shared-memory multiprocessor.However, the exsting directory-based schemes have some problens such as the enormous storage overhead for a directory, the long invalidation latency, the heavy network condes-tion, and the low scalability.For resolving these problems, we propose a new directroy- based caceh coherence scheme which is suitable for building scalable, shred-memory multiprocessors.In this scheme, each directory en-try ofr a given memory block is a number-balanced binaty tree(NBBT) stucture.The NBBT has several proper-ties to effciently maintain the directory for the cache consistency such that the shape is unique, the maximum depth is [log$_2$n], and the tree has the minimum number of leaf nodes among the binarry tree with n nodes.Therefore, this scheme can reduce the storage overhead, the network traffic, and the inbalidation latency and can ensutr the high- scalability the large-scale shared-memory multiprocessors.

A Method of BDD Restructuring for Efficient MCS Extraction in BDD Converted from Fault Tree and A New Approximate Probability Formula (고장수목으로부터 변환된 BDD에서 효율적인 MCS 추출을 위한 BDD 재구성 방법과 새로운 근사확률 공식)

  • BDD is a well-known alternative to the conventional Boolean logic method in fault tree analysis. As the size of fault tree increases, the calculation time and computer resources for BDD dramatically increase. A new failure path search and path restructure method is proposed for efficient calculation of CS and MCS from BDD. Failure path grouping and bottom-up path search is proved to be efficient in failure path search in BDD and path restructure is also proved to be used in order to reduce the number of CS comparisons for MCS extraction. With these newly proposed methods, the top event probability can be calculated using the probability by ASDMP(Approximate Sum of Disjoint MCS Products), which is shown to be equivalent to the result by the conventional MCUB(Minimal Cut Upper Bound) probability.

  • In RFID System, one of the problem that we must slove is to devise a good anti-collision algorithms to improve the efficiency of tag identification which is usually low because of tag collision. Among of the existing RFID anti-collision algorithm, BS (Binary Search) algorithm, though simple, has a disadvantage that the stage of times used to identify the tags increase exponentially as the number of tags does. In this paper, I propose a new anti-collision algorithm called Multi-collision reflected frame which restricts the number of stages and decided bit. Since the proposal algorithm keep the length size of UID and density of total tag when have 100%. The simulation results showed that the proposed algorithm improves the efficiency by 30~50% compared to the existing algorithm.

  • This study was performed to aid the development of a reduced-calorie ssanghwa beverage, by using substitutes for high fructose com syrup(HFCS). The relative sweetness levels of HFCS, aspartame, acesulfame-K, and glucosyl stevia solutions were examined in comparison to a 10% sucrose solution in a binary solution model. And the sensory properties of ssanghwa beverages containing aspartame, acesulfame-K, and glucosyl stevia were evaluated at the equi-sweetness to HFCS. In the binary solution model, the relative sweetness of HFCS to sucrose was 0.8, while the values for aspartame, acesulfame-K, and glucosyl stevia were 140, 170, and 100, respectively. Sweet taste and sweet after taste were not significantly different between the HFCS, aspartame, acesulfame-K, and glucosyl stevia solutions. On the other hand, bitter taste, first taste, and overall eating quality were significantly different between the HFCS and aspartame solutions and between the acesulfame-K and glucosyl stevia solutions. Finally, the ssanghwa beverages sweetened with HFCS, acesulfame-K, and aspartame only had slight differences in sensory properties. However, the sensory properties of the beverages sweetened with HFCS and glucosyl stevia, respectively, were significantly different.
