  • This study was performed to aid the development of a reduced-calorie ssanghwa beverage, by using substitutes for high fructose com syrup(HFCS). The relative sweetness levels of HFCS, aspartame, acesulfame-K, and glucosyl stevia solutions were examined in comparison to a 10% sucrose solution in a binary solution model. And the sensory properties of ssanghwa beverages containing aspartame, acesulfame-K, and glucosyl stevia were evaluated at the equi-sweetness to HFCS. In the binary solution model, the relative sweetness of HFCS to sucrose was 0.8, while the values for aspartame, acesulfame-K, and glucosyl stevia were 140, 170, and 100, respectively. Sweet taste and sweet after taste were not significantly different between the HFCS, aspartame, acesulfame-K, and glucosyl stevia solutions. On the other hand, bitter taste, first taste, and overall eating quality were significantly different between the HFCS and aspartame solutions and between the acesulfame-K and glucosyl stevia solutions. Finally, the ssanghwa beverages sweetened with HFCS, acesulfame-K, and aspartame only had slight differences in sensory properties. However, the sensory properties of the beverages sweetened with HFCS and glucosyl stevia, respectively, were significantly different.

  • Aggregation states ans electro-optic properties of a binary mixture by mixing a side chain type liquid crystalline polymer(LCP) and a low molecular weight liquid crystal(LMLC) have been studied. Side chain liquid crystalline polysiloxanes were synthesized from allyl bromide, p-hydroxy benzoic acid, p-cyanophenol, p-methoxyphenol and polysiloxanes. Low molecular weight liquid crystals were synthesized from allyl bromide, p-hydroxy benzoic acid and 4-cyano 4'-hydroxy biphenyl. And then, their properties were compared with blended liquid crystals. The thermal properties of the blended liquid crystals were evaluated using differential scanning calorimetry. The phase behavior of blended sample with temperature were also observed polarized microscope with hot stage. Thus, it seemed to us that a study of LC polysiloxanes with LMLC would be useful, especially in view of the fact that, systematic investigations have been carried out on the effects of changes in LCP/LMLC binary system on the properties of this relatively new type of liquid crystal.

  • In this paper, Interference-Cancelled CDMA system using binary ZCD spreading codes is introduced. Proposed Interference-Cancelled CDMA system can be usefully used for the intra-cellular Interference-Cancelled wireless communication systems. Binary ZCD spreading code sets have various sequence period and family sizes and the ZCD properties of them are very effective for Interference-cancelled CDMA Systems. In this paper, we mathematically analyzed the system performance of our proposed Interference-Cancelled CDMA system in the AWGN channel and various interference environments such as MAI and MPI. Furthermore, using the BER performance simulation we certify the available interference cancellation properties of the proposed system.

  • An analytical solution is presented for the conduction-dominated solidification of a binary mixture in a semi-infinite medium. The present approach differs from that of other solution by these four characteristics. (1) Solid fraction is determined from the phase diagram, (2) thermophysical properties in mushy zone are weighted according to the local solid fraction, (3) non-equilibrium solidification can be simulated and (4) the cooling condition of under-eutectic temperature can be simulated. Up to now, almost all analyses are based on the assumption of constant properties in mushy zone and solid fraction linearly with temperature or length. The validation for these assumptions, however, shows that serious error is found except some special cases. The influence of microscopic model on the macroscopic temperature profile is very small and can be ignored. But the solid fraction and average solid concentration which directly influence the quality of materials are drastically changed by the microscopic models. An approximate solution using the method of weighted residuals is also introduced and shows good agreement with the analytical solution. All calculations are performed for NH$_{4}$Cl-H$_{2}$O and Al-Cu system.

  • The electrochemical properties of lithium-sulfur batteries with binary electrolytes based on DME and DOL, TEGDME and DOL mixed solvent containing $LiClO_4$, LiTFSI, and LiTF salts were investigated. The ionic conductivity of 1M LiTFSI and $LiClO_4$ electrolytes based on TEGDME and DOL increased as the volume ratio of DOL solvent increased, because DOL effectively reduces the viscosity of the above electrolytes medium under the same salts concentration. The first discharge capacity of lithium-sulfur batteries in the DME and DOL-based electrolyte followed this order: LiTFSI (1,000 mAh/g) > LiTF (850 mAh/g) > $LiClO_4$ (750 mAh/g). In case of the electrolyte based on TEGDME and DOL, the first discharge capacity of batteries followed this order: $LiClO_4$ (1,030 mAh/g) > LiTF (770 mAh/g) > LiTFSI (750 mAh/g). The cyclic efficiency of lithium-sulfur batteries at 1M $LiClO_4$ electrolytes is higher than that of batteries at other lithium salts-based electrolytes. Lithium-sulfur battery showed discharge capacity of 550 mAh/g until 20 cycles at all electrolytes based on DME and DOL solvent. By contrast, the discharge capacity of batteries was about 450 mAh/g at 1M LiTFSI and LiTF electrolytes based on TEGDME and DOL solvent after 20 cycles.

  • This paper proposes a new method for generation of uniform random numbers using binary random sequences. These binary sequences are obtained from a de Bruijn sequence by random sampling method. Several statistical tests are carried out for the random numbers generated by the proposed method, and it is shown that the random numbers have good random properties.

  • A continuum structure function (CSF) is a non-decreasing mapping from the unit hypercube to the unit interval. A B-type CSF, defined in the text, is a CSF whose behaviour is modeled by its underlying binary structures. As the measure of importance of a system component for a B-type CSF, the structural and reliability importance of a component at a system level ${\alpha}$(0 < ${\alpha}$ < 1) are defined and their properties are deduced.

  • The successful completion of the present research would be achieved using ground waste glass (GWG) microparticles in self-consolidating concrete (SCC). Here, the influences of GWG microparticles as cementing material on mechanical and durability response properties of SCC are investigated. The aim of this study is to investigate the hardened mechanical properties, percentage of water absorption, free drying shrinkage, unit weight and Alkali Silica Reaction (ASR) of binary blended concrete with partial replacement of cement by 5, 10, 15, 20, 25 and 30 wt% of GWG microparticles. Besides, slump flow, V-funnel, L-box, J-ring, GTM screen stability, visual stability index (VSI), setting time and air content tests were also performed as workability of fresh concrete indicators. The results show that the workability of fresh concrete was increased by increasing the content of GWG microparticles. The results showed that using GWG microparticles up to maximum replacement of 15 % produces concrete with improved hardened strengths. From the results, when the amount of GWG increased there was a gradual decrease in ASR expansion. Results showed that it is possible to successfully produce SCC with GWG as cementing material in terms of workability, durability and hardened properties.

  • Today, pozzolans are widely used in construction for various reasons such as technical and economic efficiency. In this research, in order to evaluate some of important properties of concrete, silica fume and fly ash have been used as a replacement for cement in different mass percentages. Concrete mixtures were made from a water-cement ratio of (0.45) and cured under similar conditions. The main focus of this study was to evaluate the permeability and mechanical properties of concrete made from binary and ternary cementitious mixtures of fly ash and silica fume. In this study permeability of concrete was studied by evaluating the sorptivity, water absorption, water penetration depth, electrical resistivity and rapid chloride permeability (RCP) tests. Mechanical properties of concrete were evaluated with compressive strength, splitting tensile strength and modulus of elasticity. Scanning electronic microscopy (SEM) was used to characterize the effects of silica fume and fly ash on the pore structure and morphology of concrete with cement based matrix. The results indicated that the incorporation of silica fume and fly ash increased the mechanical strength and improved the permeability of concrete.

  • Quantum mechanics is a branch of physics for a mathematical description of the particle wave, and it is applied to information technology such as quantum computer, quantum information, quantum network and quantum cryptography, etc. In 1936, Garrett Birkhoff and John von Neumann introduced the logic of quantum mechanics (quantum logic) in order to investigate projections on a Hilbert space. As another type of quantum logic, orthomodular implication algebra was introduced by Chajda et al. This algebra has the logical implication as a binary operation. In pure mathematics, there are many algebras such as Hilbert algebras, implicative models, implication algebras and dual BCK-algebras (DBCK-algebras), which have the logical implication as a binary operation. In this paper, we introduce the definitions and some properties of those algebras and clarify the relations between those algebras. Also, we define the implicative poset which is a generalization of orthomodular implication algebras and DBCK-algebras, and research properties of this algebraic structure.
